Out OF band Management options 2014

Hi i remember in early days we use to install a 2610 XM along with 16 port NM-16A with CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC cable for out of band management of routers and switches. Since 2610 XM series is obselete, what is latest option for this setup? 2610 XM replaced by 2911 , and i believe 2911 dont support NM-16a modules, so how to console router remotely now? what setup your guys are using now a days? any suggestions would be helpful.

Microsoft will no longer update Windows XP as os April 8, 2014 . They recommended to upgrade to Widows 8. If I install Mozila firefox, do I need o upgrade to Win 8. Thanks

You certainly will not be prevented from using XP by Firefox after April 2014.
Planning for the longer term you may wish to explore the other possible options.
The Linux route does have an obvious advantage, nearly everything is free as in costs nothing. So you do not fork out for a licence to use Windows or MS Office. Users sometimes forget the cost of the software because typically a computer is bought with Windows pre installed, but if you keep it for any length of time you may then need to consider the costs of upgrades for Windows (IF the machine is even compatible with the new Windows).
Dual booting (May be more difficult with Windows 8) is choosing at startup; or boot time; what Operating System to run. You could for instance retain and use Windows XP and have Linux available if required. The details of dual booting may seem rather complex at first, but if your machine has a USB port it may even be able to run linux off a USB stick.
Whilst it may not be something a complete newbie should try it should not be ruled out as an option I like the introduction in this article

Problem with Out of Band Discovery resulting with Out of Band features not available in SCCM console for computers with provisioned AMT device

Hi,
We configured the Out of Band component, but are using Intel SCS RCS to provision AMT devices remotely. The remote configuration process with Intel SCS works fine; we are able to connect to the AMT web UI and we can use a free KVM tool to manage the computer
remotely.
The AMT devices are configured with AD integration, so an object is created for each of them in a specific OU. Also, an AD group is added to the AMT devices so remote PT Administration permission is granted to it. This group includes the ConfigMgr Site
Server account, the account of the server running the Out of Band Service Point and my own user account.
This configuration seems OK since when connecting to the AMT web UI, I use Windows Integrated authentication with my user account and can manage the device successfully.
So the only step remaining is running the OOB discovery to enable Out of Band features for the computers in the SCCM console. We want to use the ConfigMgr OOB console. I right-click a computer or a collection and launch the AMT discovery. I check the OOB
server log, I don't see errors; the OOB service point connects to the AMT device and discover a status of 4, which is Externally provisioned, as expected. The problem is the AMT Status, AMT Version and Provisioned AMT fields for the computer in the ConfigMgr
console doesn't get updated, even after doing display refresh.

I found something interesting on this problem, it seems the OOB discovery process is working fine, but for an unknown reason, the site server is not receiving the information from the OOB Service Point to update the AMT Status of the client in the SCCM
database.
The log tells me that a DDR file is created to be sent to the site server. When looking into the SMS\MP\Outboxes\ddr.box folder, I see about 50 DDR files, the oldest one is dated when I started testing OOB discovery.
So the server is unable to send the files to the site server.
Also, since I started this thread, I noticed another issue that could be related to this problem. The same server is also holding the State Migration Point role, it is working fine, but when doing USMT operations, the status of the computer association is
not updated in the console (In Progress, Completed, missing USMT store path, etc.). When looking into the SMS folder on the server, I see a big backlog of SVF files containing information related to the SMP.
I looked into the log files, but didn't find the errors yet to explain this.
The computer account of the server is a member of the SMS_SiteSystemToSiteServerConnection_Stat_XXX group on the site server.
Note that status messages are being sent successfully, I see them in the Monitoring node of the console under Component State, and there is no backlog in the SMS\MP\Outboxes\statemsg.box folder.

May 21 2014 release

Hi, I installed the May 21st 2014 release, and the version is still the old one, always asking for an update, even though the installer version is the correct one. Is this just a Visual Studio Extension mismatch, or something else altogether?

I had the same problem, but just with Visual Studio 2013, not with Visual Studio 2010. Running the msi from an elevated command prompt didn't fix it for me.
It seems like this is just a bug in the uninstaller. After I had the new version installed, I had two folders in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\CodeContracts, one with the old version number and one with
the new one. This is how I fixed it:
Uninstall Code Contracts via the control panel.
Delete the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\Microsoft\CodeContracts.
Touch the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Extensions\extensions.configurationchanged (touching means updating it's last modified date, just open it in editor and save it without changes). This step is required so that
Visual Studio rebuilds its extension database on the next start.
Start Visual Studio and make sure the Code Contracts extension is gone from the extensions screen. Then close Visual Studio again.
Install the new version.
Start Visual Studio and make sure it shows the new version in the extensions screen.
Btw, uninstalling doesn't just leave the old version of the extension behind, but also the new one. So think about this when you uninstall/update Code Contracts the next time. Let's hope it gets fixed soon.

After the latest update to Photoshop 2014, something went wrong and started spray-like black oil on canvas. I have deadline with cover. Can you help me please?

How do I undo whatever went wrong after installing the latest update to Photoshop 2014 and suddenly when I tried to paint or touch up my illustration (book cover I'd drawn and painted, then scanned in and continued painting, changing. It's mostly done but I needed to send it like yesterday!!) OR touch up a photograph, black-like oily smudge-like substance sprayed around the point of the brush. I tried to fix by resetting but really didn't know what to do and probably made it worse. However, the problem happened after I updated the Photoshop Creative Cloud 2014 on my desktop 8.1 Windows and after a Tech helped update the regular CC Photoshop on my laptop 2007, 64 bit Windows to 2014. He promised to call back after giving it time to install but didn't for whatever reason on Friday. That happened to go up to the same update I did on my Windows 8.1 Windows. I have this deadline and really stressed. COULD IT BE THE UPDATE OR BOTH. REGARDLESS, CAN SOME EXPERT HELP ME UNDO WHATEVER THE UPDATE AND/OR I DID? I'm a God-gifted artist but only started using Photoshop CC, then updated to 2014--which, again, I like even better--when I began my monthly membership January or February 2014, although I had paid version 2002 and updated to paid version 2004 (ownership, not paid subscription like now). I've learned so much, including transforming, moving, stretching, with layers--all in the painting area with my illustrations--a little touch ups with photography. I have an onWorkflowActivated, followed by an ifElse condition and a log to history.
In the IfElse, each branch has a code segment, that trys to update the status column in the list that the workflow is attached to.

add the following code to the workflow.xml file (under the MetaData section)

Try some thing like below,
your data value that needs to be update should be in this format "ID of the lookup";#"Title of the Lookup"
For example,
listItem["Product_x0020_Number"]
= "1;#iPhone";
listItem["Product_x0020_Number"]
= "2;#Mobile";

Major Problem updating to Photoshop 2014 from Photoshop CC and Opening Lightroom

Updated from Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 to Photoshop 2014 and Lightroom 5.5. Now Cannot install and run Extension manager and extentions in Photoshop 2014 but continue to work in Photoshop CC. Lightroom 5.5 refuses to open but Lightroom 4.2 continues to function sort of.
Takes two double clicks to open Photoshop CC!
Been on to Adobe support team twice. Uninstalled Photoshop 2014 and Lightroom. Used CC app to update to Photoshop 2014 but now exactly the same problems exist as before

Roger, it seems you are facing 2 separate issues, one with not being able to launch Lr 5.5 and other with not being able work with extensions in PS CC 2014.
So, here is what i would suggest:
For the Lightroom launch issue, follow the solutions mentioned under Lightroom does not launch or get error: "Develop module is disabled" after 5.5 update
And for the Extensions not available in PS CC 2014, check this out. Extensions and Extension Manager not available in Photoshop CC 2014

I received the Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package (KB3032622). The installation failed. Here are the details

If you use Visual Studio 2012 RTM product to build C++ apps and use certain functionality from the C++ Standard Template Library in your projects, then you might run into a runtime failure similar to the following:

I tried to run the update troubleshooter, but it did not help. I tried Microsoft Fixit50123, but that did not solve the problem either.

I’ve noticed that similar case occurs on this 2/10/2015 update (KB3032622) in some environments. But still a small number.
And we suggest you run the Windows Update Troubleshooter first and check if there is something need to fix.
After that please recheck if this update still in your list of updates to be applied.

And again, we would appreciate it if you could send us right cbs log file for our reference. Turns out the CBS log you sent to us was ending at 19:01 2/10/2015 and your error occurred at 20:35 2/10/2015.
