Microsoft Outlook from work

I finally got my Outlook through work working on my IPhone! Yippie! IT dept said I would have to subscribe to some service.. but dont think that I did. He gave me the domain and server info..that seems to have worked!
NOW my million dollar question.. How do I access my Outlook Tasks? Will it sync with some other app that I need to get? I use the Task list ALOT! I live by the calendar and tasks!

Basically, you don't. Email, contacts and calendar sync. Tasks/notes do not.

• Syncing music from home & outlook from work

I just synced my iphone with itunes and outlook from work but since I keep all of my music at my home computer that is where I want to grab music from. When I tried to sync to my home computer I got a message that says that the phone can only be synced to one itunes and gave me an option to erase my last sync and re-sync. I do not want to lose my email and outlook calender from work so I chose not to re-sync. Is it possible to use my music from my home computer & and my calender from work or do I need to bring my music library to work and add music there?

This is entirely possible and in fact, what I do on a daily basis (sync outlook from work and music from home).
It's all about checking and unchecking the right boxes on each of the tabs within iTunes. At work, you must uncheck ALL boxes except for the ones for outlook on the info tab. You cannot SYNC media (music, video, ringtones etc) from more than one computer - but you can SYNC contacts/calendar etc from one and media from another.
1. uncheck auto sync and uncheck sync when iphone is plugged in
2. at home, uncheck any boxes on the info tab
3. check music / video checkboxes on respective tabs and sync
You should be able to sync these.
IF, at work, you synced anything from the media tabs then you will get the error you did and have to erase it all.
At work:
1. check the calendar/contacts boxes on the info tab
2. UNCHECK all boxes on media tabs (ringtones/music/movies/etc)
3. Uncheck auto sync on iphone connect
4. you should be able to sync these.
Like I said, I do this everyday (updating my calendar from work on my phone and music/movies when I get home). It's all a matter of checkboxes and checking and unchecking the right ones.
Hope this helps.

• PC Suite stops Microsoft Fax from working

The fax server information cannot be retrieved
I have just downloaded and installed the latest version of PC Suite.
Each time I install the recent versions of PC Suite it stops Microsoft fax from working.
I am running windows XP SP2
I have a Nokia 5310
The error message is:
The fax server information cannot be retrieved
The fax wizard will now close.
I can use an earlier version of PC Suite but then my phone is not fully supported.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your response Miksu. You have pointed me to the right place. It is the connection manager that fails to recognise the BT stack that causes my problems. This is always resolved by a repair. It seems that the order of initiation is very important which may be why Luist has started to have the problem.
In my experience, once things stop to work, I've had to strip out any subsequent installs.
My PCSuite also stopped working after it installed cable connection manager (or something like that) without me asking. I found it in Control Panel->Add/Remove programs. I removed it and PC Suite started to work again, so I completely removed PC Suite then re-installed, and allowed it to add the relevant devices relating to my phone (about 4 devices alltogether) but alas this did not solve my "return from standby" issue. I think I need to remove PC Suite and then Bluetooth, and maybe something else before re-installing - I'll leave that for a rainy day.
Thanks again Miksu

• Send Email to Microsoft Outlook from SAP

HI,
What are the ways of sending the ALV list to Microsoft Outlook. Is there any FM?
Thanks,
Anuradha.

Hello,
What you ask is not always included in ALV lists (often not).
Take a look at the function group SOI1 with SE80.
In the function group you will find some function modules like SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 to send out mails.
You can also provide internal tables containing data from your ALV grid to send the data out via attachment.
Also take a look at the standard SAP program RSWNSENDMAIL1 to see how the function module SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 works.
This is often a good starting point.
Via a simple test of the report RSWNSENDMAIL1 you also know if sending mails from SAP is properly working, if not contact your basis team.
Success.

• MIcrosoft Outlook stopped working on Yosemite

I ran Outlook for a day after updating to Yosemite, but after a reboot, it no longer works.
When I click on the Outlook icon, it bounces a few times but never runs. Looking in system.log (via Console.app), it complains about a call to gestaltSystemVersion from both Outlook and Microsoft Database Daemon. (see below)
I rebooted again, and I reinstalled Office for Mac 2011. My Outlook is version 14.4.5. I've found very little regarding this error searching Google, and most of it is from the beta stage for Yosemite.
Has anyone else seen this, or better, solved it?

After to Alistair's comment, I did some more general googling. I found some suggestions that the
best solution was to rebuild the identity, so that's what I did:
go to ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data
make a "backup folder"
drag the contents of ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities into the backup folder
relaunch Outlook and configure as if it's a fresh install.
This has things working again.

Folks,
I have an iPod (30 GB). I wanna synchronize my
contacts from Microsoft Outlook 2003, but no success
so far. I have the latest iTunes build. I go to
Preferences|iPod|Contacts and choose there "Microsoft
Outlook" from the drop down. What is suspicious is
that I don't see the list of contacts populated
there. There is just the "Synchronize all contacts"
option enabled. When the synchronization starts, I
allow iTunes to access Outlook, and then there are no
errors. However, there are no contacts on my iPod as
well. Have a resolution?
Regards,
George
Hi George,
are you synch'ing your ipod to another computer or just your laptop? seems you have to set Ipod preferences for each computer you synch w/ (e.g., desktop for music and laptop for contacts). FYI, my version of Itunes (6.04) doesn't populate a list of contacts, either, it just says synch w/ "all" .
good luck, Mainlandhaole

I'm including a OLE2 integration with Outlook I did about a year ago.
The platform was NT 4.0 and Outlook from Office 97. It sends mail with
an attachment. I just tested it with Forte 3.J.1 and it works.
You need to run olegen to create the Forte Outlook pex file.

There are two ways that I know of to interface Forté with Outlook (and MS
mail generally). You can either use ActiveX as the method of communication
or C wrappering to call the MS mail dll. Outlook is mapi compliant, that is
it supports the mapi API.
We have successfully integrated mapi using C wrappering but have had only
moderate success with ActiveX. The problem with ActiveX has been with
registering the component on the client machines. If you or anyone else has
done this successfully, I would really like to hear how it was done.

• No e-mail via Microsoft Outlook

Can't sync e-mail via my new computer. Opted for Microsoft Outlook for my AT&T Yahoo e-mail on this computer, rather than directly using Yahoo Mail. All Inbox mail transferred correctly to Microsoft Outlook from Yahoo Mail, but now can't see any mail on my iphone. I'm using the same server information and port numbers on both the computer and iphone. No luck. Any suggestions?

The mailboxes and messages for an account that you access with Outlook are not synced with the iPhone. This is not included with the iTunes sync process.
If you are accessing your Yahoo account as a POP account, what is your account setting with Outlook for removing messages from the server when downloaded?
The setting needs to be never if you want access to the same messages available at the incoming mail server for the account when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail client.
A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. You cannot store sent messages on the server with a POP account, so any messages sent with the account using Outlook will not be available in the account's Sent mailbox when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail client, and vice-versa.
You should consider an IMAP account instead, which is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices. All server stored mailboxes for an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with all email clients used to access the account. You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailbox on the server with both email clients used to access the account. Send a message with the account using the iPhone's Mail client, and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox automatically when checking the account with Outlook on your computer, and vice-versa. Read a new message with the iPhone's Mail client, and the message will be marked as read automatically when checking the account's Inbox mailbox with Outlook.
This is not possible with a POP account.

• How to recover deleted contacts from Microsoft Outlook work email account?

Hey, hope you guys can help me out. I somehow managed to delete all of my contacts recently. Here is the scenario:
I recently changed jobs and have been continuing to get emails on my work email address from my old job. This was a Microsoft outlook account. I went and deleted my old work account thinking that it would only delete the email account, and it ended up deleting all of my contacts.
The other accounts I have set up on my phone are my personal email and my iCloud account (although I have never used my iCloud email account whatsoever).
My numbers are still in my phone (I.e. old texts and phone records with the numbers), but all of the contacts are gone.
It looks like my last backup was on August 26. I could not even begin to tell you the last times physically hooked my iPhone up to iTunes on the computer.
Can anyone help me out? Fair warning, I am not well versed with a lot of the iPhone jargon or processes, but hopefully someone can help.

It is likely that they are gone from the cloud but login at www.icloud.com and see for your self. What else have they been synchronized to, and how (via a cable from iTunes? to Google etc)
Katie's correct, don't share an account, they are free.
