Microsoft outlook sync troubles?

Hi,
I recently bought a 2 gig black ipod nano. i works perfectly, except for the fact taht whenever i try to sync it to outlook 2003, it fails with a very unhelpful "unknown error (-50)"...
Any ideas on what might be causing this error and how to resolve it?

This is the First Apple product I have ever bought. Just bought the new Nano today. I too got the -50 error when trying to sync calendar from outlook 2003. Called 1-800-apl-care (1-800-275-2273) after along time on wait list I finally got to talk to a live person who was trying to help. I was put on hold while they were looking for the answer after several minutes I was disconnected. I called back, after a long wait I was connected to a new rep which was able to retrieve the previous info so I did not have to start from scratch (a plus in my book). They were unable to resolve the issue so they connected the case to a "Product Specialist" Ryan, they said sync was not covered by tech support. The phone rep still tried several things on his own to try to help me, to no avail. (TY for trying) No one at Apple that I talked to was able to tell what the -50 error meant. Cut and Paste from Apple Nano website "Good thing iPod nano lets you take your calendar and contacts with you. With support for Address Book and iCal on the Mac and Outlook or Outlook Express on the PC, plus industry-standard vCalendar and vCard files, iTunes syncs your calendars and contacts so you can access everything with a quick spin of the Click Wheel." So much for my first Apple purchase.

  • Microsoft Outlook sync error message

Here's the error code: 08004fd28. The sync is set to only sync the calendars. Blackberry Desktop Manager queries inconsistencies between the calendars, then shows the error message just noted. Can anyone help?

    Hi,
What Desktop Manager are you using? You can try to uninstall and reinstall DTM. Make sure to install the latest Device software as well. You can download these through the BlackBerry website.
So it also gives out this error during the calendar sync? It is possible that there is a corrupt calendar entry on Outlook. What you can do is to do an advance logging. The process is a bit complicated cause you need to edit some intellisync settings to extract the log files. By extracting the log files you will be able to pinpoint the corrupt calendar entry data.
For this it's best for you to contact you carrier and ask for support.
    Thanks.

  • Microsoft outlook sync?

upgraded from torch to z10 and now cant sync with outlook calendar and contacts etc, something which is very important to my job. Am i doing something wrong or is it not supported? If the latter, then this is poor... Love the phone but it has to do its job, which all other blackberry phones do well.  Help???

  • Outlook sync trouble

Just got 2 BB Tours.  I plan to use mine as primary to set appts / update contacts (will do 2-way sync with desktop), etc. and my husbands as secondary (will do one-way sync from desktop after syncing mine). Thought this plan was all good so I did an initial one-way sync 2 both BB from Outlook on desktop ----- no problem.  I then made some changes in my BB and wanted to update the desktop (with a 2-way sync) and then my husband's BB (with a one-wy sync to BB) so he would then have the new appts. and contact info.  Sounded like a great plan, until .....  in the middle of the sync (Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Memo Pad and Tasks) with my BB, I got the error message "The operation terminated unexpectedly" .  So I tried again doing one module at a time,  all worked fine except Calendar ---- I got the same error message.  Any suggestions???

I had the same thing happen to me several times. The funny thing is sometimes it actually syncs and other times, an error message comes up part way through syncing, that says "The operation terminated unexpectedly". There's also another error message that pops up on occassion but I can't remember what it is right now - this last time I tried syncing, it actually worked. Cross my finger for the next time. The IT person at work mentioned that I might want to look into syncing capabilities through WI-FI. I'm told I don't need to have internet access on my phone to sync it this way, if it's available on my BB Curve 8330. Still looking into it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would like to sync my home email account calendar with Microsoft Outlook 2007 with my I-phone 3GS. Is it possible to do this?
I could sync my work calendar with phone calendar. My employer used office 2010 Outlook. Not sure if that is the reason or is it something in my settings etc.

How can I sync my Microsoft Outlook tasks with my Ipad reminders? I dont want to use Icloud or an exchange

Plug it into your computer. Tell it to sync with "this computer" instead of iCloud. You shouldn't have to remove any apps. Otherwise, you can save the app data by using i-FunBox ( http://www.i-funbox.com/ ) just go to the "devices" tab and select 'user applications' and select all of your apps and tell iFunBox to "copy to pc" you're done! You have them all backed up.

  • Can I sync my microsoft outlook calendar on a mac with a calendar on a sony xperia z3?

I will try to keep this simple!
I have a MacBook Air.  Currently I use the calendar within Microsoft outlook for my appointments.  Question:  Can I sync that calendar with my google Calendar on my Sony Xperia compact Z3.  I just need any calendar that syncs on my Mac with my xperia and vice versa.  Looking forward to reading a simple solution:) Thanks

    Short answer: NO!
We had all thought that MobileMe would do this with push technology, but MobileMe turned out to be less than expected (IMAP) and incompatible with Outlook if you use Exchange, which is the case with most corporate uses. However, if you have the option to run Outlook without Exchange, then MobileMe is a $100/year solution.

How do I sync my iphone 5 to enable me to link my microsoft outlook contacts and vice versa?

In iTunes, once the phone is connected, go to the Info page and where you select contacts, select Outlook as the program you want to sync with. If you have never synced them before and the contacts application on the phone is empty, you will need to put a unique contact on the phone, one that does not exist in Outlook before syncing. It will then generate a dialog box asking if you want to merge or replace. Select merge. You can always delete this contact after the sync.

How can I sync up my calendar from Microsoft Outlook with my ipad 2? Or do I have to enter in all of the dates individually?

When the iPad is connected to your computer's iTunes, then on the device's Info tab you should be able to select where to sycn a calendar from - from the iPad manual :
You can sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)

    Hi S25wankum,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
It sounds like you may need to update the iCloud Control Panel software on your Windows computer.
iCloud Control Panel 3.0 for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1455
    * Note: If you are upgrading from iCloud Control Panel 1.1 or earlier, you will need to sign out of iCloud Control Panel and uninstall it before downloading iCloud Control Panel 3.0
Note: To create an iCloud account you need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later. Microsoft Outlook 2007 or later or an up-to-date browser is required for accessing email, contacts, and calendars.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac sync Contacts and Calendar issues

OK, so I have a Macbook Pro with OS X Mountian Lion. I have Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac installed. Asked @BlackberryHelp on Twitter how to sync my Blackberry Torch with Outlook as it seems to default to using the builtin Apple Contacts and Calendar instead of Outlook. So they sent me the link to KB19148: "How to synchronize organizer data in Microsoft Office for Mac between the BlackBerry smartphone and a Mac computer using BlackBerry Desktop Software". So I turned on the Sync Services in Outlook and it gave me the dialog box confirming that everything was synced. And it appeared to copy and sync whatever Contacts in the Apple Contacts and calendar entries in the Apple Calendar into Outlook and vice versa. Cool since that's what I wanted.
Then I tried using the Blackberry Desktop Manager to sync everything to my Blackberry Torch 9810. Everything looked like it synced until I opened my Blackberry and all my Contacts were gone. Same with my Calendar entries, except that the Calender entries were hit and miss to whatever copied over (some Calendar entries were missing and others were duplicates). Checked the Apple Contacts and all of them were gone. But when I opened Outlook, everything was there and all OK.
So am I missing something? Turning on Sync Services in Outlook should sync all my Contacts and Calendar with my Blackberry when I use Blackberry Desktop Manager, correct? So why is it still syncing with the Apple Contacts and Calendar (and why did it delete all my Apple Contacts and mess up my Apple Calendar)?
Good thing I backed everything up first so restored everything. But I have all my updated Contacts and Calendar in Outlook and I still need to sync all of that. I don't want to manually do it. So how do I fix this??

After a bit of googling I think you mean the notation "domain\username", i.e., a backslash separator but no leading backslash.
I am not familiar with that notation but apparently it is valid in some contexts.  I googled "os x "domain\username"" to confirm this notation.  Here's one of the hits that shows the notation:
OS X Lion: Guidelines for connecting to a DFS namespace via SMB
I think "DFS" is a distributed file system.  That's as much as I know about this.
