Microsoft Outlook to Mac Mail

I would like to be able to read my Microsoft Outlook Inbox from work on my Macbook at home through Mac Mail.
Is there an easy way to check my mail from home? It would be helpful on my days off to stay up to date with things.

It depends on how your work's exchange server is setup. Some businesses and organizations allow only internal communications with the e-mail server. Do they have outlook web access (view your outlook e-mail through the web)? If they do, then you should be able to configure Mac OS X Mail.app to have an additional account (exchange) and supply it the information from your IT department.

  • How to restore old emails from Outlook to Mac Mail?

I have recently configured my email account (server type POP3) on Mail. It has retrieved my emails from last few weeks. However the older emails are missing. I was using Outlook and Mozilla thunderbird as email clients on Windows computer. I do have a backup of the data from windows computer on external hard drive. Can someone explain my how to I restore those old emails to the newly configued mac Mail account?

I had about 7500 emails, and they converted OK...took awhile because each one has to be converted, but it finished fine.
Although you can export from multiple Outlook folders, Mac Mail doesn't have a very slick importer for multiple mailboxes.  So, you'll need to export the mailboxes from Outlook (which will create 25 different files, each full of email), and then import each of those into Mail. In my case, Mail created a separate folder for each exported file, but the folders all descended from the root folder (not nested), so I had to create my own nesting.  This is more a limitation of the mbox standard that Apple uses than it is a limitation of Mac Mail itself, from what I read.
    Happy new year!

  • How to transfer emails from PC/Outlook to Mac/Mail

I just bought MacBookPros and iPads for my small business.  After many many hours, i was ensured that the iCloud/Mac combo was the solution for me.  It has turned out to be extremely difficulat migrating from PC/Outlook.
I will not get in to details now, but after 27 hours, we have finally been able to migrate our files and emails over.  However, my sub-folders in my Outlook Inbox that i have created over the years did not migrate over.  All my emails in my inbox did, but not the subfolders.  How can i transfer those over from my PC/Outlook to my Mac/Mail?

Looking at other posts (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2664208?start=60&tstart=0) this is what I found to be a helpful answer for many:
This is by far the easiest and risk-free way to do this that I found.  I've made a few switches in the past 12 months after changing from Windows, thinking Outlook would be the best option and now regretting it I wanted to change back.  No need to buy add-ons or software, apply for gmail or anything else outside of your Mac.
Drag all your mail folders from Outlook onto your desktop and then you can bulk select them through the Import Mailbox option in the File menu in Mail.
    Thanks JChp53!

There is a longish way to do this.
In Outlook, Select the folder you want to move (If there are folders within the folder, you have to select each individual subfolder, as the subfolders won't copy along with the main folder, only the messages in the folder will copy). Click and drag the selected folder (ex: inbox folder) to a new folder on your desktop. I couldn't figure out a way to select all the folders, so i dragged each folder and subfolder from Outlook into the folder on the desktop. Once you're done copying all the Outlook folders, open up Mac Mail. Go to File --> import mailboxes. Then select "Files in mbox format" and click continue. Then select desktop, and the folder you dragged all of your Outlook folders into. Hit "Choose." Mac Mail will import all of these folders, and when it's finished, will tell you that they are under the folder labeled "imports" in Mac Mail, and you just have to move all your subfolders back into their main folders.
Like I said, it takes a little while longer than I would like, but it worked for me and now I have all my old mail from Outlook in Mac Mail.
Hope that helps (and that I explained right)!

  • How do I Import Mail Contacts from MS Outlook to Mac Mail? MacMini OSX 10.9 Mavericks

Hi I am using OSX 10.9 Mavericks.  I have been trying to export my People Contcts list from MS Outlook to Mac Mail, can anyone help? Thanks

    Ed,
the simplest solution is to convert your Outlook PST file to standard mbox files using Thunderbird - TB on the PC imports Outlook data just fine and - unlike the other proposed solution - is free. When you install TB on your PC for the first time, it will ask you to import your Outlook data.
Once you have all your mail messages in mbox format, you can import them into Mail. However, instead of using Mail's "Import" feature to do so, I would propose you use Eudora Mailbox Cleaner for this - the program can also import TB mailboxes to Apple Mail and will preserve all your message status flags (read, replied, ...):

  • I need to move email from windows notebook, outlook to mac mail on my new macbook pro

i need to move email from windows notebook-outlook to mac
    mail? need help?

Hi Linc, I started setting up my new computer a few months ago so don't remember the details.  I did not use migration assistant, nor do I wish to, I believe it was set up through icloud.   Now that I needed my calendar while doing taxes I discover there are no events for 2014 and earlier (except 2 oddly enough).  I do remember that iCloud instructions were not clear as to what would happen in the choices it gave.
I copied my old user files over from my external back up after my old computer stopped working, was hoping I could put ical folders in the right place to be used by Calendar or import somehow.

Is this a recent problem or has it been going on for some time.  If you just updated to ML, you might want to confirm that you've update to the latest MS Office / Outlook patches.

  • Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze, skype freeze

    Hi all,
I am working in a company that many users have Macbooks Air and Pro. One specific user with a  a Macbook air that has a clean install of Yosemite (not even a week ) started to have problems with the mac mail client attachements. Every time he tried to insert a file the mail client frozen and had to force quit. After a while i observe the same issue on Outlook mail client. At last after a reboot that he did to see if that gonna solve the problem then Skype started to freeze also and had to quit every time. So now, so far none of the above apps work as expected and the Skype doesn't work at all. It has to be noted here that we did the upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite to solve the Skype issue that he had also for a couple months now and it wasn't resolved from Skype's support team( never answered). So for now we have again the same problem and and with a fresh install of Yosemite i am started to thinking about hardware issues or even broken drivers, code to Yosemite etc. The laptop has an encrypted SSD using Filevault, SEP, Office and Acrobat Reader nothing else.
Any thoughts to solve this issue?

    Hi Brody,
Thank you for your answer, yes i did erase the hard drive and install Yosemite!! After a second call that i made with my client he said that first of all:
The problems of the Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze started after he install Cisco VPN Anyconnect (I don't think that this has to do anything with the freezing) so he tried to remove this using Appcleaner. After this not only the Outlook and mac mail client attachements freeze problem was remaining but he saw that skype started to freeze also. No matter how many uninstall and install he made to the Skype, Skype continues to freeze. For the mail freeze i advise him to use the verify/repair disk permissions and so far that one solved. The remaining problem is the Skype Freeze so far. I also tried to remove the Skype following this https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12073/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then -reinstall-skype-for-mac-os-x
so to avoid Appcleaner and still the problem persist even with older versions of Skype. I also create another profile account in Yosemite and Skype seemed to played well there. But i would need to solve in his account so to avoid any file transfer. Do you have any idea why that happened? Is it a file permissions problem? Corrupt/missing files in users profile? This one problem had in the past as i wrote in the previous comment and couldn't work at that time.
Any thought on that? What could be wrong?
    Thanks

  • Create a "Do Not Send" List for Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011

    Hello,
I've been having a problem creating a "do not send" list for Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011.  Essentially, I am sending out bulk emails and when people want to unsubscribe I have no means to create a list so that no email is ever sent to them again.  Because of the number of emails going out, it would simply take to long to search each excel sheet of emails I have and purge the unsubscribers.
Is there any way to create a list of emails that outlook will not send to, even if the names or in the excel sheet?
If it helps, I am using a Microsoft Word document as the basis for my form letter emails, which then pulls the email contacts (hundreds of them) from an excel sheet, which then sends them to my outbox in Outlook.
    Thank you,
    Frank

  • Access Microsoft Outlook WebAccess through Mail (No POP/IMAP addresses)

Hi--I would like to use Mac OS X's Mail to download my mail from a Microsoft Exchange server. I do NOT have any pop/smtp/imap servers...Microsoft's Entourage has a built-in feature to download emails directly from the Internet using the "https://mail.mydomain.com/exchange" URL. I've tested it, and it works with my username and password.
Supposedly there is not a way to do this with Mail since I do not have actual servers, only a webaddress. Can anyone advice me, or point me in the correct direction? Plug-in? Thank you!

Also, by default exchange server 2003 only allows relaying from microsoft products... see this comment froma a Microsoft tech document on enabling IMAP:
By default, Exchange allows relaying only from authenticated clients. It is recommended that you keep this default. Clients such as Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0 and Microsoft® Office Outlook® 2003, and previous versions of Outlook Express and Outlook support SMTP authentication in addition to Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption."

  • Changing from microsoft entourage to mac mail 7.2 ?

Is there a way to switch from Microsoft Entourage 2008, Version 12.3.5 [latest installed update v 12.3.6] to Mac Mail 7.2 and keep all my mailboxes and contacts?
    John Modder

Open Entourage, drag the email account folder to the desktop of your Mac, this will produce an .mbox file. Import that file into Mail (File>Import)
Theoretically your folder structure should be intact, realistically it may not be.

  • Microsoft Outlook for Mac

I need to use Outlook for work and created an alias email account in iCloud which works perfectly. How can I compose a new email using Outlook as the client, and I need to be able to use my alias account as the sender.
It was easy to set up in iPhone and iPad, but I can't figure it out on the MacBook.

You can access an Outlook account via Mail, but other than that there is no Outlook for the Mac. MS Office's Entourage also supports access to Outlook.
