Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool - WS 2012 R2 prereq error

Hello,
We are trying to verify our app on SQL Server 2012.  Using the version 4.1 linked to from the partner site, the prereq check is failing on server operating system:
Required Configuration: "SQL Server's Operating System Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 R2 Enterprise (or) Datacenter, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter"
Configuration Status: "Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter"
So R2 is not supported?  Any idea when it will be, or is there a workaround?
Thanks!

Hello,
The Windows Desktop Perfmon and Diagnostic tools forum is to discuss performance monitor (perfmon), resource monitor (resmon), and task manager, focusing on HOW-TO, Errors/Problems, and usage scenarios.
As the question is off topic here, I am moving it to the

  • Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool - Select Primary Executable when they are on a different server

I am using the Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool 4.1 and am trying to run through the SQL Server 2012 Data Platform Test
My SQL Server 2012 is running on a Windows 2012 server, and all the prerequisite tests are passing.
But then I come to step 1: Select Primary Executable(s) of Your Application, and get the followin error Message:
You must identify your application's primary executable(s) in the below list. If no executable is displayed below, you must browse and add your applications's primary executable that makes the connection to SQL Server. If your application is IIS/PHP/COM+
based solution, then you must add the corresponding framework executable(s) that makes the connection to SQL Server.
So, my Application is a .Net 4.5 web Application that is running on a diffent VM from the SQL Server.
So my question is then: How can i add the files needed? And which files am i supposed to add anyway?

    Hi Bjørn Otto,
If you need to verify the SQL Server 2012 application using Microsoft Platform Ready Test tool, you can add ssms.exe in the ‘Select Primary Executable’ page. For more details, you can review the similar guideline which can be downloaded from below link:
    https://mprprod.blob.core.windows.net/assets/us/MPR_SQL2008R2_GUIDE_05092012.docx
About adding the executables for other applications such as  .Net application deployed in IIS, you can review the list in this
    blog.
Meanwhile, since the Microsoft Platform Ready Test tool is not part of SQL product, I would like to recommend that you also ask it in this
forum. It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
    Thanks,

    Hi Anil,
According to the error message "User cancelled installation" and the log "Process exited with code 1602", it seems that it is you cancelled the installation that cause the install fail. Is that true? If yes, please reinstall
it without cancelling it. You can take the following steps:
Download "Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime" from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42513 .
Run the downloaded vstor_redist.exe with admin.

    Hi Teyob,
Did you try to use different browser to check if the issue persist?
This issue was occurred on browser. If you IE with this issue, we should check to clear the option "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode" from your Internet Explorer(IE) Tools--Internet Options--- Advanced--Security.
If the setup URL of the ClickOnce application being installed is redirected from a non-secure to a secure site (or vice-versa), the installation would fail due to the Internet Explorer warning. Therefore, please make sure to remove the redirection completely
and point to the actual setup URL.
If the issue persists, we could perform Windows Update to install updates and then run the Desktop configuration again.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

    Hi,
We are using IEDriver 2.44.0 with microsoft webdriver tool Windows7-KB2990999-x64.msu update with IE11.
Using IMPLEMENTATION=VENDOR, we are not able to get this IEDriver version working with out selenium based test tool, with or without microsoft webdriver tool.
I can see the driver IMPLEMENTATION set to VENDOR in the log, it also brings up the browser, but gets stuck there. Is this a known issue?ThanksTanvi

Selenium is a third party software, so it is not supported in MSDN forum. It would be better consult to selenium's office website or forum. Some placa like here:

  • Stress testing tools for SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft version

    Hi all
I was wondering if there are any stress testing tools that can be used with SAP BPC 7.0 MS to simulate hundreds of users using the application simultaneously and thus testing the performance.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Ameya Kulkarni

There are tools to perform the performance analysis of BPC, one is loadrunner.  But be careful when defining the "hundreds of users using the application simultaneously"; There are many scenarios in my mind, where you could have several hundred users using BPC, but not sending or retrieving data at the exact same time.  You might check the SAP sit eto see if any presentations are posted from the Sapphire conference this Spring.
    Hope this helps.

  • Are there any 3rd Party Cloud Application Readiness Assessment tools in the market today?

I have couple of interrelated questions here:
    1
Are there any 3rd party tools, which do Cloud Readiness  Assessments for on-premises Applications. I am looking for names of any such tools, if they exist, which thoroughly analyse on-premises applications, and generate detailed reports on whether the
application is ready for moving to the cloud (and why?), or if it needs some changes before moving (which changes?), or if the application needs major changes (which?) or cannot be move to cloud in its present form. The cloud here could be Azure (1st pref)
    or AWS (2nd pref).
    2
From the tools named in response to above questions, which are the ones which can be used for doing applications assessments for a large number of on-premises apps in most efficient way? Do such tools actually exist? Imagine scenario that an enterprise customer
comes to me and asks that they want to check the cloud readiness for 3000 applications in shortest possible time - What tool will you recommend for such massive assessments?
    Thanks, LH

    Hi,
I would suggest you to check this Microsoft Cloud Self Assessment Tool.

  • Java Test Tools

I'm getting ready to evaluate both Purify and JTest. Has anybody looked at these test tools, or any others for that matter.
    Opinions, experiences?

We use Purify extensively. We use it to find
memory problems with our C/C++ code. It can be
used to find problems with your JNI but only
on the Windows platform. The Windows version of
purify allows you to purify an already built
executable while the Unix version has to be
a part of the linking phase of building an executable.
We got a demo copy of JTest. I liked the code
standards analysis but did not have use for
the test tools. Parasoft would not just sell
us the code tool without buying their high end
    test tool also.

  • Forms and Reports: Automated Test tools - functionality AND performance

    All,
    I'm looking to get a few leads on an automated test tools that may be used to validate Oracle forms and reports (see my software configuration below). I'm looking for tools that can automate both functional tests and performance. By this I mean;
    Functional Testing:
    * Use of shortcut keys
    * Navigation between fields
    * Screen organisation (filed locations)
    * Exercise forms validation (bad input values)
    * Provide values to forms and simulate user commit, and go and verify database state is as expected
    Performance Testing:
    * carry out tests for fixed user load
    * carry out tests for scaled step increase in user load
    * automated collection of log files and metrics during test
    So far I have:
    http://www.neotys.com/
Thanks in advance for your response.
    Mathew Butler
    Configuration:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux x86-64 architecture v4.5 64 bit
    Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 ( with patch 10.1.2.3 )
Oracle Developer Suite (Oracle Forms and Reports) V10.1.2.0.2 ( with patch 10.1.2.3 )
    Oracle JInitiator 1.3.1.17 or later
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

are there any tools for doing this activity like oracle recommended tools?
Your question is unclear.  As IK mentioned, the only tool you need is a new version of Oracle Forms/Reports.  Open your v10 modules in a v11 Builder and select Save.  You now have a v11 module.  Doing a "Compile All PL/SQL" before saving is a good idea, but not required.  The Builders and utilites provided with the version 11 installation are the only supported tools for upgrading your application.  If you are trying to do the conversion of many Forms files in a scripted manner, you can use the Forms compiler in a script.  Generating new "X" files will also update the source modules (fmb, mmb, pll).  See MyOracleSupport Note 955143.1
Also included in the installation in the Forms Migration Assistant.  Although it is more useful to people coming from older versions, it can also be used to move from v10 to 11.  It allows you to select more than one file at a time.  Documentation for this utility can be found in the Forms Upgrade Guide.
Using the Oracle Forms Migration Assistant

  • Are there any good black box testing tools for j2me?

Is there any good testing tools available for testing software on physical mobile devices?
I would like to partially replace manual testing with automated testing using a test tool. It should work on physical devices, and with the help of a script it should be possible to execute predefined sequences of button pressings on the device. Preferably there should also be some way of deciding whether the test was a succes without having to do so entirely manually.
The purpose with this would be to make it easier to go through the test protocols, which has to be done before every new software release.
Deviceanywhere.com looks promising at first glance but it is rather costly. Still, does anyone have an opinion of it?
Does anyone has experience of Mobile junit for this kind of testing? Is it possible to define series of physical button pressings with it? At first glance it doesn't seem so.

  • Interesting SCOM Reports and "Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 Reports" MP Issue , Some reports appear others don't

Our test environment is quite simple one Operations Server 2012 R2; with the database and SSRS instance on another server; Service Manager 2012 is on it’s own virtual machine; and the Service Manager Data Warehouse on it’s own. I’ve been trying to demo chargeback
with scvmm and I’m having issues with the chargeback reporting.
I’ve followed this process to install chargeback reports:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj614406.aspx which
completed successfully. All of the cubes seem to process correctly in Service Manager and I can create a chargeback analysis excel sheet with no issues in service manager. I still do not get any chargeback reports in the Operations console though. I get some
reports under the “Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2 Reports” heading like Capacity, Host Group Forecasting, Host Utilization, etc but no chargeback report.
I can see the chargeback report in the SSRS website but cannot get it to appear in the Operations console. If anyone has any tips or troubleshooting they can point me at I would appreciate it.

  • What happened to Microsoft Product Support Reporting Tool?

I was looking to examine the health of the Active Directory setup that I have inherited at my new position. I was going to download the Microsoft Product Support Reporting Tool to run some tests, but all of the links I could find are broken.
It seems to have been excized from the Microsoft website. The information page as well as direct download links are all missing.
I have searched for information relating to its retirement but found nothing.
Has this tool been removed permanetly? Is there a place I can get the last supported version?
