Microsoft Push Missing

It usually works well, but like today, if it misses a few times which is really important and long awaiting emails, it's really frustrating. Hey, I don't care the decent applications, but fix these essential bugs.
I'm disappointed at a buggy iPhone 3G in general, but this one is not acceptable.

Have you tried using the certificate with 1024 length key?
Does the 401 response you get from the server provide any additional details in the response body?
I believe you may need to publish an update so that you can associate the new certificate with the application, to overwrite the old association.
Uploading the certificates to your Dev Center account allows them to be used for the SSL/TLS authentication but, IIRC, there is a second check in the actual service layer that ensures the provided certificate CN and hash value match the certificate that
was associated with the application during publishing.

  • Kin Twom Verizon and Microsoft are missing a great opportunity

To my mind the Kin Twom is a great feature phone with only two problems that really need correcting.  First and foremost contacts need to be able to be saved away from the phone.   Kin Studio needs to opened up to the latest Kin phones and not shut down at the end of January.  Zune software needs to be modified to save contact information.  Verizon needs to make My backup assistant work on the Kin phones.  One of these things needs to happen in case your Kin is lost, stolen, etc. and to make moving to a new phone in the future easier.
The second problem with the Kin phone is the inability to organize contacts into some kind of groups.  If you have the capability to store 1000 contacts in the phone, you need some way to organize them.  Feature phones far less capable than the Kin already have this.  How hard can it be to program this feature in.
I recently went looking for a touch phone that I could use without a data plan.  It came down to the Pantech Crux, LG Cosmos Touch and the Kin Twom.  The Kin Twom was the obvious choice for me.  Where else can you get a feature phone with Wifi, touch screen and an 8 megapixel camera with flash and zoom, and music player?
Sure the interface takes some getting used to.  But it is miles better than most of the Verizon feature phones.  Those interfaces have not changed in years.  The Kin is a windows interface (not quite Windows phone 7, but still good).  People should stop comparing it to a smart phone.  That's not what it is.  It lies somewhere between a feature phone and a smart phone.
I also liked the original Kin phones with the social networking features.  Some of these features were really unique.  I read all the reviews that said the phones failed because the data plan was too expensive.  That's not the phone's fault, it is the fault of Verizon marketing.  A social networking phone with the ability to save photos and contacts info up in the cloud was really unique in the feature phone market.  Both Verizon and Microsoft have really screwed this up.  They have a product that could truly impact the feature phone market for years.  Frankly there a lot of people who don't want/need a smart phone.  Instead those of us with Kins are having the come up with workarounds for the contact problems and watching the unique features of the phone being stripped out by Verizon/Microsoft.  Sad

What everyone said here is right on the money. Simple fixes, none of these are new to phone technology, nor are they absent from any other feature phone, but they would do wonders for the Kin phones. Like  technobody said, the exact 3 phones were in my considerations, and for the exact same reasons, i didn't even hesitate to snatch up the Kin Twom. There are so many things you did right about this phone, the actual phone is a gem. It just has a few issues to be addressed.
For me, it boils down to 4 or 5 major issues that weren't addressed either in the beginning, or during the original to M model transition, that if they were fixed, 90% of its problems would be fixed:
contact transfer/backup (backup assist is verizon's own program, but because of the original loop, wasn't needed for this phone, and when re-writing this phone's software for feature phone release, somehow this slipped through quality control/testing)
volume keys locking upon phone lock
groups for contacts: ability to make and select contact groups, especially for mass texts, or easy access to contacts when the contact list gets very large and bothersome to scroll through. also to be able to select both the entire group, or go through and add 1-by-1 contacts from within the group (in other words, not exiting the select 'menu' until it is user-commanded to do so)
Messaging: ability to select individual messages and manage them, such as delete, forward, resend, view details, etc, as well as ability to select emails from contacts when adding to a sender. Additionally, being able to send quick-texts (user-saved, like in other feature phones), and having the keypad on the touchscreen appear as a slide-up/down functionality (think, cosmos touch design), so you can at least type when the phone is closed, for quick replies (w/ added predicative text). Afterall, the Kins were designed as messaging phones..so how does it not have predicative text (T9, iTap, etc), and not have any ability to text with the phone closed?
ringtone rename/deletion/organization into default groups of melodies/alerts/alarms, as well as a vibrate only setting for sounds (along with fixing the alarms to vibrate when phone is set to vibrate)

  • Report generation microsoft tools missing in LV 8.5.1

I upgraded LabView from 8.5 to 8.5.1 and installed all of the toolkits. all of the toolkits seem to be working except for the report generation toolkit as the menu doesn't show any of the word or excel options.
Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi there,
I had this problem too.  But fortunately others had posted their problems to various message boards and I was able to solve it easily.
I didn't try Andrey's method.  (It may be faster)
I went into Windows control panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> National Instruments.   When you select that, another menu opens so that you can select which component to remove.  I uninstalled the Report Generation Toolkit and then re-installed.   Worked just fine.

  • Windows 8.0 Volume License machines reboot and windows 8.1 is installed??

We are a small private university with 484 computers running Windows 8.0 with MAK key.
This week we have had 2 Windows 8.0 computers spontaneously upgrade to Windows 8.1.
Since we do have a windows 8.1 MAK key all we had to do was enter the correct key and the computers were fine but everything I am reading about Volume Licensing says that this is not an upgrade path for Windows 8.1.
Is Microsoft pushing out Windows 8.1 slowly to volume licensed computers on Windows 8.0, or is this just some sort of anomaly that may happen occasionally.
One of our operators reported that the usual blue banner prompting upgrade appeared the day before but did not have an option on the banner to deny the upgrade.  The next morning when she booted the computer, Windows 8.1 installed and we had to enter
the 8.1 MAK key and all appears to be well.
This is not really a complaint, just that we were VERY surprised when it happened, hoping it was not some sort of hack by a third party.

    Hi,
I don't know how useful this information will be for that many machines. This was also observed on 8.1 Pro, not Enterprise, but here is what I found while doing multiple different upgrades... just so I could figure out how to stop them...
Windows Update KB2973544 triggers Win 8.1 to automatically install.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2973544
In addition, KB3008273 appeared in Nov. 2014, which is also related to the automatic installation of Win 8.1...  It actually replaces KB2973544.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3008273
Windows Update KB2871389 makes Win 8.1 available in the Store, and is a prerequisite for  KB2973544 and\or KB3008273. You might uninstall it also.
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2871389/en-us
I have found that the installation of KB2973544 and\or KB3008273 create Scheduled Tasks in Task Scheduler under *** Microsoft \ Windows \Setup***
They are...** 8.1 Auto Install Ping** and **8.1 Auto Install V2**. They are scheduled for 8pm Daily.
I clicked on both and selected "RUN", as I didn't want to wait several hours to see what happened... A download started immediately.
After downloading for about an hour, I restarted the machine to see what would happen... The download resumed quickly after the restart.
After the download started again, there were two more Scheduled Tasks added to the same location....   **Windows AutoUpdate Setup Resume Task**... which was running, and
**Windows AutoUpdate Setup Store Resume Task**... which is *Ready*, but has NEVER run.      There was a Service *Modern Setup Host* running in Taskmanager.
***I have found that the only way to stop the installation of Win 8.1 once the Scheculed Task ....   **Windows AutoUpdate Setup Resume Task** is indicating "At Logon" for it's Trigger,
is to end all the tasks showing, starting with that one, and then the ** 8.1 Auto Install Ping** and **8.1 Auto Install V2**.
After Ending the tasks Delete them...
After deleting the Tasks, I had to go to C:\ $Windows.~BT, which is a Hidden File, and delete anything that has a recent date... especially the .esd file (Install.esd) of 2.67GB..
I deleted anything that was newer than one week. You could probably delete everything inside the *Sources*, *Support*, and *Drivers* folders...
Also uninstall the mentioned KB's, starting with the newest, and doing the KB2871389 last, as it requires a reboot.
Any attempt to reboot the machine before doing this results in the installation of Win 8.1 starting...
If you were to End the tasks and disable or delete them while the **Windows AutoUpdate Setup Resume Task** is still showing a
Date and Time for it's trigger, deleting the $Windows.~BT files may not be necessary.
The biggest issue with this process is that you may be denied access to the $Windows.~BT folder. If that is the case, you will need to take Ownership of it.
If you disable and delete the Scheduled Tasks, and uninstall the previously mentioned KB's shortly after selecting *Remind Me Later*
THE FIRST TIME, the process will be stopped, and it won't be necessary to delete anything in the $Windows.~BT folder.
You should have about 24 hours to do this.
After uninstalling the KB's and deleting the scheduled tasks, a new scheduled task has appeared.
It is *Pre-Staged GDR Notification*, and is scheduled to run at  *8PM of Every Thursday of Every Week*. My guess was that this is to remind you to install the Win 8.1 Update.
It actually causes another task to be created... *Windows Upgrade Notification Task*... It runs at the *Log On of Any User*
I couldn't get this task to show a notification. The task ran when I did it manually, but generated an error message in the log... *Specified Module Could Not Be Found  (0x8007007E)  Windows Upgrade Notification*
This is most likely because the KB's have been uninstalled.
I'm sure they can be disabled as well, if you want to stop\prevent the reminders.
I know that once Win 8.1 Update actually installs, those scheduled tasks no longer exist. In fact, the entire SETUP folder disappears.

    Hi,
So switch a LAN card fix this issue...seems a compatibility issue or maybe some packs or programs you installed recently cause this issue.
Have you manually check the network adapter driver from the PC's manufacture website? sometimes, it will be a time delay before Microsoft push out the driver update.
Check if issue exists in safemode with network, this mode will launch Windows with limited sets of files and drivers.
if you have a restore point, restore the pc to a previous point at which the pc is functioning fine.

  • JVM Compatibility

(new thread please!) Grant Ronald - Forms Product Management.
    At your request Grant.
Compatibility ( Jinit vs Ms JVM vs Sun JVM ) - Not sure what you mean, we certify Jinit, we certify native JVMs we certify the Sun plug in, we certify IE, we certify NS, we certify Mac browsers - whats the issue
Oracle Certainly doe support many different environments, the problem is that forms deployment on the internet is still a problem. As we have started our deployment we are seeing failures in 10-20% of clients, with jvm problems and we specify IE only. These clients have either no JVM or the wrong JVM for forms.
We do not have this problem with the menu applet that we use.
The solution to this is to force a download of a JVM as part of the initial process. As we examined this we found:
    1. Jinitiator -
    8 megabyte download
No Feedback on download when triggered from the form until the download is complete.
No usable Oracle source for the plug-in. Try wading through the download to get the right Jinitiator.
No Web Install for Jinitiator. ( user gets F.U.D. when faced with exe download pop up).
    2. Microsoft JVM
5 megabyte download if you can find it.
No longer supported by Microsoft, but available on other sites.
Limited functionallity. 800k Cab file must be downloaded for each form session.
    3. Sun Java Plug-in
    14 megabyte download
This downloads and installs as J2ME not as a simple plug in.
The only doc on setup for this is a White paper, which is not specific enough for most developers.
The current download 1.4.2_1 also has warnings on the download that the file does not match the certificate.
Also, the signature of the applet with JDK is downright hokey.
Distributing an applet signed by "Developer" whose authenticity is verified by "Oracle" who is not trusted.
Come on. This is your "Oracle's" applet not and you can afford to buy a certificate from Verisign.
As we developers and our customers struggle, we see Microsoft pushing .Net where the promise is 95% compatibility with no download required ( since the hide it in the base OS).
Grant you are caught in the middle but there are things that you can do.
    1. Fix the jar signature now
    2. Continue to work with Sun on a light-weight browser plug-in. The "Java Get it now" should be as simple as the Acrobat reader process without the extra baggage.
These are the things to do if you are serious and we are watching you.
    Kevin

    Kevin,
sure Forms very much depends on the JVM it is executed in. But saying "Continue to work with Sun on a light-weight browser plug-in. The "Java Get it now" should be as simple as the Acrobat reader process without the extra baggage." is not fair as it ignores the fact that Adobe is a meta data definition while Java is a J2SE platform for real application programming.
Native Java Swing apps, even those using Java Webstart", all require VMs for execution. However, it is not only the VM that you download when installing JInitiator or the Java plugIn, its the full Java platform stack you get too. With each Java release the Java language grows and becomes more complex, the VM needs to know how to handle this.
JInitiator basically is an Oracle patched version of SUNs Java PlugIn and therefore doesn't differ much in the way you install and deploy it.
I agree that we all want it easier and smaller. Microsoft and Netscape terribly failed in integrating a solid and up to date VM to their Browsers and Opera didn't even try.
Simply remove pieces from the JVM or the Java platform to reduce size gets you into more trouble due to broken functionality and you don't really want to deal with this.
Partial - on demand - loading of the Java platform code does not work either for security reason.
Though its hard to live with a PlugIn it basically works and beside of that is all we have.

  • ITunes will not install on my windows vista operated laptop

... I know this is not a new question, and I have tried just about everything that was suggested before.  I removed iTunes and Quicktime and all programs related to them and reinstalled iTunes. However, it still will not open; I get a message indicating that the Data Execution Prevention program has closed it down.
I tried to bypass the DEP, following the instructions provided, by manually exempting iTunes from it.  However, I received a message that this program could not be exempted.  The DEP setting was set so that only Windows System 32 programs would be governed by it.  But this did not work either.
Finally, I set things up so that iTunes would run only via an adminstrator account, but this too did not work.
I should note that iTunes worked fine on my laptop until several weeks ago, when Microsoft pushed some windows updates.  (I have Windows Vista Service Pack 2 operating now, but don't know what it is or its significance to this problem.)
So, I think I have exhausted the troubleshooting options I have seen.  ... Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

I reinstall Quicktime and it would not launch and gave me the same error messages.
We'd better check to see if some other application has stashed old versions of QuickTime componentry down in your system files.
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • T60 running Windows 8 won't extend display to monitor

    Hello,
I checked the forums but couldn't find a similar topic.
I have a T60 coming up on it's 8th birthday. About a year and a half ago I installed windows 8. Just recently I tried to extend my work space to a second VGA monitor, in addition to the T60's LCD, in a dual-monitor configuration. I've seen this done before on T60 loaded with XP or Vista.
If I connect a VGA monitor, it will mirror my LCD screen fine on the monitor. But when I try Ctrl-F7 to toggle display options, a message comes up from the right saying, "Second Screen: Your PC can't project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using a different video card."
Not my first time to the rodeo. I went to Device Manager and learned that my ATI display driver had been replaced with "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter." I assume this is some kind of generic driver microsoft pushed out to make older components compatible with Windows 8. So I figured I'd download the driver from AMD.
I actually don't remember the graphic card I have, but searching for my T60 model number (2623D7U) shows it as ATI Mobility Radeon X1400. Unfortunately, AMD never updated the X1000 series of drivers for Windows 8. In fact, I can't seem to find any drivers on their website lower than 2000.
There are some links on various forums suggesting to download the Windows 7 version of the X1400 driver, but apparently AMD changed their website around in February and the links are all broken, and as I said, I can't seem to find any of those drivers on the AMD website.
Just to be clear, everything is working fine as it is, and I don't want to risk screwing it up. But if someone knows how to solve this issue and enable me to gain the ability to add dual monitor mode please let me know. Short of that, if there's a cheap graphic card you can recommend for my PCMCIA slot which could do the trick, I would appreciate it.
    Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Get the Vista driver for your machine here: Ati X1400 driver Vista (32bit/64bit)
Run the setup file to extract the drivers, but cancel the installation, as Windows 8 does not like
the Catalyst Control Center. Then you just manually install the drivers through Device Manager
    by pointing it to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\VIDEO
I've done this on quite a few T60's and this always fixes the dual display issue, which Windows
    does a great job managing.

  • Iphone could not sync

Most of the time when I connect my iphone to itunes on my imac it says it cannot sync because it cannot establish a connection with the iphone. If I go to sync it manually it syncs ok. Is this a common problem? I have the latest versions of iphone os 3.1.2 and itunes 9.0.2. It has only started doing this in the last few weeks.

I just recently started experiencing the exact same issue. The only thing I've changed with my setup is I added a 4-digit security PIN to the phone. I'm using Windows XP-SP3 as my OS, so it's very possible that Microsoft pushed an update that is causing the problem, but I notice that you're on a iMac. I haven't sat down and conducted any serious troubleshooting yet, but thought I'd add a post to the thread to give it a little help. I'll post some results after I try a few possible solutions and test them by connecting/disconnecting about 10 times for each (disable the security PIN, uninstall recent OS fixes (if possible), etc.).

  • Publish SFTP with UAG

    Hello
Is it possible and if so, can anyone provide direction for publishing an SFTP server with UAG?
I'm essentially looking for direct proxy with no UAG portal authentication.
    Thank you!

UAG is a HTTP/HTTPS proxy. Even Microsoft pushed as VPN gateway for a while and TMG is underneath forwarding/publishing of anything else then HTTP/HTTPS is not supported, see also http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee522953.aspx. So technically you
can access the TMG console and add rules to publish port 22 for SSH/SFTP but it is not supported from Microsoft.
    Hope that helps,

  • Outlook 2010 - new prompting for password

After installing Office 2010 Beta and working fine for about a month and a half, Outlook started prompting for a password.  The machine is on the domain so the Outlook did not prompt before.  If you cancel the prompt, everything seems to work fine.  This happens on both Windows 7 64-bit and Windows XP.  It started happening to all known users on Office 2010.  The problem started on January 8, 2010.

I have searched all over for a solution to this crazy problem and some of them highly technical and poorly explained and were for outlook 2003 and 2007.  Finally I found this less than 2 minute fix that works.    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fix-for-outlook-2007-constantly-asking-for-password-on-vista/
This is not my fix but glad to pass along something that actually works.  Give Kudos to the "how-to-Geek" and post in other forums to help out all your frustrated friends.
    1.  Close outlook!
    2.  go to my computer and then paste this into the address bar.          %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Protect
    3.  rename the very long file name S-1-5......etc by appending "-old" to the end of the existing file.
    4. now re-open outlook and you may be request for your password.  If so enter it and check the remember password box
    5.  now go back to %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Protect by searching in windows explorer or my computer and you should see the renamed long named file
and a brand new long named file.
This should work for you.  If not, then do a shut down and reboot a time or two.  Then try reopening outlook 2010 and your problem should be fixed.    Save
    this link:  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fix-for-outlook-2007-constantly-asking-for-password-on-vista/
because this problem is likely to recur sporadically because of microsofts pushed updates that cause more problems than they solve.  Turn off automatic updates so MS cannot keep screwing up your system and snooping.
This fix was explicit for Vista but worked fine for me on Windows 7 64 bit running outlook 2010.  Post your results to see if it works for others please.  I know everyone is tired of chasing their tails on this problem and even posted fixes have
been so vague that you need to be a software engineer to follow them.  If you have other fixes for this I know everyone would appreciate people posting all the steps from the beginning to end and assume that we know nothing at all.   Post all the
paths and explanations in simple terms please.
    I hope this helps.
