Microsoft Securiity Bulletin MS15-021 reports vulnerability within Adobe font driver

Forum readers:
Are you aware that Microsoft has released a Security Bulletin MS15-021 in which it claims that vulnerabilities within Adobe font driver could allow an attacker to gain control of another’s personal computer?
Ryan R.

I think the term "Adobe font driver" is potentially confusing. But just as an "HP printer driver" is a driver for an HP printer, no matter who writes it, an "Adobe font driver" is a driver FOR Adobe fonts (which is to say fonts in the Adobe PFB format, properly called PostScript type 1 fonts).
This driver was originally written by Adobe, but it became part of Windows much more than 10 years ago and it's fully Microsoft's responsibility. And, indeed, they have fixed it.

  • Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-022 - Critical and Windows XP

I have a legacy Windows XP machine that I applied MD15-022 to, it took the Office 2007 patch
I do not see it in Add / Remove, but in the Event Logs under Application, there are multiple entries.
With doing this, how do I know the patch is there?
    Thanks

  • Printing a Oracle PDF Report from within a Oracle Form on Linux

Is there a command I can use in Oracle Forms to invoke a shell script to open a PDF output report stored on a physical location on the Linux server and print it to the printer?
What I'm currently trying to do is send a Report called within Oracle Forms 10g to "DESTYPE=FILE DESFORMAT=PDF DESNAME=directory/filename.pdf". I'm storing all the information about the file and printer information prior to it being run with the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT. What I want to happen is as soon as it finishes generating the file, I want (behind the scenes) is it to locate the file, open, and print it automatically, but never show the output to the user on the screen.
I know with the "DESTYPE=cache DESNAME=filename DESFORMAT=PDF" that it puts the info in the Reports Server / Cache directory, but also opens it in a separate browser window of which you can select the printer at that point. I don't want to do that in this option.
I previously tried to use the "DESTYPE=printer" option but, the issue with it has to deal with fonts. I do not want to store fonts on every printer, given the different types of printers our users have. I can print to the printer but the fonts are all messed up so, not an option.
So, basically I'm trying to replace that option with generating to a PDF, then I don't have to worry about fonts, since I have them all working, then I can just open the PDF file on the server and send to the printer. I was wondering if that is an option available in Oracle Forms when calling reports. I figured that when someone sends the option of "DESTYPE=printer" that it must be calling some shell script on Linux that handles this. I'm just not seeing it.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

Ok, one final question because I want to see how far this can go.
Can I issue this command via the HOST inside the form? Basically I'm telling it to open and send the file to the printer. The vFileName is the directory/filename stored on the Linux Server. I can execute this command on the command line of Linux and it works
    HOST( 'lpr -P gt-ybs-ps /u11/app/as10g/tools/web/html/pc_rp00120100210035258.pdf');
I promise this is my last quesion.

After this error, i treid to send email again and there is no error and email was delivered. What was the cause of this error?
    Hasan

    Hi,
I tried to start seeding again but it is at same status. I will try again and hopefully it will get resolved.
But, yesterday i ran in to the most complex issue i have ever seen with Exchange.
There was a unexpected power cut at our datacentre due to which both the nodes went down.
After that both the nodes came up. But the all 3 databases were dismounted.
Therefore, i ran Eseutil /mh resulting dirty shutdown.
I was able to repair 2 databases.
But the 3rd one was not mounting with below error.
    Microsoft Exchange Error
Failed to mount database 'Mailbox Database'.
    Mailbox Database
    Failed
    Error:
Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database: XXXXX\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database; Error code: MapiExceptionJetErrorAttachedDatabaseMismatch: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=-1216).
I was able to mount database somehow. There are 7 User mailboxes (Tier 1) on this database.
All emails sent to the users in this database are bouncing back with the below error.
This storage groups holds the mailboxes of my Senior Managements. And their mailboxes are down for almost 20 Hrs. I am spinning my head since yesterday but not able to find any fix. Can you please guide me in this concern.
    Best Regards

  • Start a BO report from within a web-application.

    Hi,
An enuser want to start a BO report from within a web-application.
The BO report ideally should not prompt for a login. The fact that we are using BO for reporting purposes should be transparent to the end users. The report should produce its output directly in Excel (pdf?) format. In WebI i can do a 'Save As' to obtain this, but it should go automatically so that the end users get their response directly in Excel
the report should be parametrized. These parameters will be added to the URL by the calling application.
To do a basic test of the Opendocument.jsp i created a number of test reports in WEBI, and i use the following URLs to execute them directly
    http://s-olaf-vtst150:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?&sPath=[My reports]&sDocName=tmsd1&sType=rep&sRefresh=Y
    http://s-olaf-vtst150:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?&sPath=[My reports]&sDocName=Yearselection&sType=rep&sRefresh=Y&lsSYear:=2002
    So this covers points 1 & 4
What are the options for points 2 & 3?
    Kind regards,
    Johan

The BO XI 3.1 environment works quite well now.
    Two more questions:
    1. When a user being member of the Readers group, still sees the Edit button in Webapplication - Infoview. Is it possible to hide or disable that Edit button ?
    2. Is it possible to make a user only seeing a part of the data in the universe ? When a query is run with a parameter, the user ses the parameter in the left column ... but in that way a normal user can change the value of that parameter giving him the possibility to see things he should not see. Making a separate query per user is overkill and too much work to do. Is BO XI 3.1 able to offer this possibility and how ?
    Rgds,
    Johan

HELP!!!! I have spent hours trying to find out how to embed an image with a link, or embed a Microsoft Word document with a hyperlink built within the document -- not as an attachment into my email -- but where it shows as the email content when opened! Does ANYONE know the secret? Can it be done, or not? My PC clients do it all the time easily. Then I want to be able to send the embedded image/document (not as an attachment, but visable within the email when opened) to many email contacts at once, BUT the individuals receiveing them DO NOT SEE the other email contacts. Cannot seem to be able to find anything on being able to do these 2 tasks.PLEASE, SOMEONE, HELP!!!

  • Cannot validate pgp signatures of microsoft security bulletins

So I've been getting Microsoft security bulletins for years and I thought I would actually verify the PGP signature. I have not been able to yet. I found two public keys on microsoft sites:https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/dn753714was the first key I imported. My PGP software says it is the wrong key for the June 2015 security bulletin:PHPWrong signature of Microsoft SecurityNotifications (Key ID: BF05BFF43AA549E5)Notably on that link above, the page says it was "Updated: December 15, 2015" (in the future). I found that page linked fromanother page.I found another key and replaced the above key with a slightly older one. I still get an "unknown" key errorTextSigned with unknown key(Key ID: BF05BFF43AA549E5)I also foundboth keyson the MIT key server. What do you get when you verify Microsoft PGP signatures?

  • Custom report - Can't customize font / table width etc

So i'm authoring my first report - that works fine; however I can't seem to figure out how to customize the font / table width etc. I'm creating an RDL file from Report Server Project Wizard in Visual Studio and in there i'm changing font sizes and table
widths and I can see its changing in the RDL file's XML. I then plug the RDL file into my managment pack and import it. I run the report and the results always have this huge font and the table widths don't change. Anyone have any idea what i'm missing or
why that would be happening? heres the RDL file for reference:

I did some digging and found a link that might help you/have an answer.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14850503/change-default-font-ssrs-visual-studio
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/574003/modify-the-default-font-family-for-sql-server-business-intelligence-development-studio-while-creating-a-report#
If you click on work around someone posted that they were able to modify the default font in visual studio.
"If I am not mistaken, you can update your Report.rdl template file in visual studio
to use the default font you wish to use.
navigate to this location (where x is your visual studio version):
    C:-\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio x\Common7\ide\PrivateAssemblies\ProjectItems\ReportProject
copy report.rdl to an already created report project.
Add the report to your report project
Update the default font where applicable.
Copy the updated report.rdl back to the location above and that is it.
The next time you open your project, you will be using the update rdl file as your
    template.
You can do this as many times as you want.

Hi, each time a click a Print icon in a Crystal report preview toolbar, it opens a dialog box which opens an Adobe Acrobat preview window. Is it possible to print a Crystal report without calling Adobe Acrobat window?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Unable to see a font in Adobe Type Kit from within Adobe Muse

While I am able to install a font, Fertigo Pro from Adobe Type Kit, am unable to see the same font in Adobe Type Kit from within Adobe Muse.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. From http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/1189216-introduction-to-desktop-fonts-fro m-typekit: You are now able to sync fonts from Typekit to your desktop via Adobe Creative Cloud and use them in all your applications for web mockups, print design, word processing, and more.
Using of a font for web mockups is not the same as using it as a web font on a live website. The two uses are covered by different font licenses.
You can use a desktop synced font in Muse as a system font and export it as an image. But to use a Typekit web font in Muse is not currently supported (though you can try the Muse Insider workflow referred to in the other forum post I mentioned above).
Hope this clarifies things a bit.

  • Generate report to PDF problem; font or layout problem

    Hi all,
I have this report that look fine.
But when I generate this report to PDF one of the column which supposed to show date information become "******" in the PDF version.
Normally I would try to modify the report by changing its font to smaller one or expanding the field to accomodate longer string.
The problem is i don't have the RDF file.
So i need to know how to make the PDF i'm generating looks the same as the the original one i'm generating the PDF from.
btw The report is made with Report Builder 6.0.8.11.3, and running on oracle database 10g.
    Thank you.

    hello Gouri,
basically I just wish the PDF version of the report looks exactly like the one generated by reports runtime.
When I run the report all data is shown properly.. But the PDF version i generated from that failed to show one the column properly. Instead of showing the data the PDF version replace it with ******.
    How come?
Is this the same kind of problem where the printed result differ from what it look on the sreen?
    Is it adobe reader problem?

  • Reports Character Mode Previewer Fonts

    Hi,
We design a character mode report to print on a matrix
    printer.(Reports 2.5)
According to documentation, when we set
    report properties->Character Mode->Report Width-Height
reports previewer chooses a suitable font at previewer.
This font is usually hard to read at first. Especially,
when width/height is large like 132*66. On every run,
user has to use the magnifiaction tools. But, in some
of the PCs, Reports can choose a suitable font that is
readable, due to different font settings of the PCs.
Is there a way to change the deafult font chosen by the
    previewer on character mode reports?*
    * Changing the font at layout editor is useless.
    Have a nice day.
