Microsoft Server 2008 R2
Hi,
I am using Mac Book Pro and want to download some files from my "Microsoft Server 2008 R2" on my Mac Book Pro, as currently I am using "Fast Remote Desktop" but this App doesn't have option files download from Server on Mac Book Pro, so is there any salutation or recommendation some App?

why would't you just connect to any of the shared folders on the server instead of using a remote desktop solution?????
go menu --> Connect to Server --> smb://servername/sharename

Microsoft ODBC for Oracle / Microsoft Server 2008 r2
We are testing the operational system Windows Server 2008 r2 in one of our clients. This system does not accept the installation of the tool Microsoft ODBC for Oracle. We’d like to know how to install this Driver, once Microsoft’s webpage does not mention any help related to this issue (there is instruction only for the installation of MDAC). We’ve consulted discussion forums and all types of ocurrence on the Internet, but we started to think it’s a Bug of the version. Can you inform us what’s the solution for the problem?

We have installed it, but, notice that the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver is not listed.
It would be better for us to use the Oracle client, but, we do need to connect to Ticket Machines that are based on a Oracle v 8 database. (So, basically, if we use a 10g client trying to connect to a oracle 8 database, it will display the error: ORA-03134 Connections to this server version are no longer supported.)
It is not possible for us to upgrade the Oracle 8 database to current, so, we have to use the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver.
So, basically, we have a Oracle 8 database that we can not presently connect. (those machines are feeling abandoned)
Ideas? ThanksIf you insist on using the MS driver, you'll have to get that from MS. Why would you have expected it to come with an Oracle installation?
And to get the Oracle driver, you have to do a 'custom' installation and select the Windows components, as it is not installed with a default installation.
And all that aside from the very serious version compatibility issues. -
Can't start UCM server after new installation of 11.1.1.8 on Microsoft server 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit EE
Hi All
After new installation of WCC 11.1.1.8 on Microsoft server 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit EE UCM_server1 can’t start. (Please see trace below). WCC 11.1.1.7 run without issues on this environment.
Steps:
1. Installation of jrockit-jdk1.6.0_45-R28.2.7-4.1.0
2. Installation of WLS 10.3.6
3. Installation of WCC 11.1.1.8
4. Schema creation by RCU 11.1.1.8
5. Domain creation by config.cmd with AdminServer, UCM_server1, IBR_server1
6. Run Admin - (success)
7. Run NodeManager (optional) - (success)
8. Run UCM_server1 – failed
Still not works after patching MLR 1 for WCC 11.1.1.8 or upgrade from 11.1.1.7 .
From log files we can saw that problem caused by JniNativeOsUtils.dll file in “<Middleware Home>\Oracle_ECM1\ucm\idc\components\NativeOsUtils\lib\windows-amd64\7.2.1.1”
I replaced JniNativeOsUtils.dll with same file from 11.1.1.7 version and UCM_server1 starts work
I got errors during startup (syNativeOsUtilsNotLoaded and UnsatisfiedLinkError - you can foun them in trace below), but WCC up and works.
I also get error when trying to start SystemProperties or ComponentWithard utility:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\USER_P~1\domains\WCC_DO~1\ucm\cs\bin\SystemProperties.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

Multiple logon for Microsoft Server 2008 R2
I currently work for the U.S. Government as a System Administrator. I'm in the middle of an inspection on my system and one of the inspector asked me about multiple logon for Microsoft Server 2008 R2.
How many times are you allowed to logon to Microsoft Server 2008 R2 before it lock the system? And also if I'm the system administrator what is the limit on logging to different systems with my account.

It is kindly requested to help us with these issue-
we are not able to install the operating system(Microsoft server -2008 SP-2 (x 32 bit)
Following error is coming during installation :-
Windows server could not install due to one or more critical drivers missing. To install Windows make sure that the drivers are valid and restart the installation.
Earlier ,We have observed that our working server has developed a problem of 2 no.s of hard drive failure out of existing 3 no.s. It was in RAID-5 mode. so the server was not booting.
Recently we have changed the faulty hard drives with two new ones and after that configured the RAID and we tried to install the O S but it was showing the above stated error.
Please help us in solving this issue.

IOCL ChennaiA. Your RAID is configured incorrectly. Erase disks, make diagnostics and create new RAID. Make sure that you have at least 3 disks available for RAID 5 (This is the prerequisite.) Also make sure that you have latest firmware and BIOS installed.
B. It this does not help, ask Dell support/forum for help. This problem is NOT on the Windows installation side.
C. Do not publish your mobile number in this forum. Expect written response here.

Microsoft Server 2008 Event Viewer User column 'N/A'
Hi Guys,
I can see from other topics that I am not the only person with this problem!
Short version;
Event viewer column 'User' is displaying NA, therefore I have no way of exportint the log with the Username in it.
Has this been fixed? Is there a workaround?

If we have SQL Server 2005 Express Merge Replication Subscriptions that synch to a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. Do
the Subscriptions still have same file size limitations even though they synch to a Proper Standard Version of SQL Server 2008?
If so what are these limitations?
What happens in the instance where by the server file becomes huge then the Subscriptions will not allow the data to replicate
as the Express Subscription engine has a file size limitation - or does this not matter??You will get messages on your SQL Server Express servers that the merge agent cannot write to the SQL Express database. These messages are difficult to debug as you don't get a warning you have exceeded the size limit on the subscriber.

SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Database Engine Services
And then uninstall the
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2

Am beginner to ms sql 2008 and i have installed sql Express edition and management studio and tried to do replication there some issues i have faced
1) Cant use my host as distributor
2) SQL server agent Edition is running
3)Cant create publisher also
May i know which edition supports for all replication ( Merge,Transactional,Snapshot)
Thankful to repliersYou do not mention what you are replicating to. SQL Server express can only be a merge replication subscriber. If you want to replicate to a SQL Server Standard Edition and above you will need to make the SQL Server Standard Edition server your publisher
and the SQL Server express edition your subscriber and then changes will move from the merge replication subscriber to the publisher and vice versa.
As the SQL Server Express client does not have SQL Server agent, you will need to do a push subscription from the Standard Edition, or run RMO, or a batch file which runs replmerg.exe on the subscriber. You might also be able to run web sychronization.
If the source and destination servers are both SQL Server Express editions you might want to use Sync Services.

Replication Configuration issue after migrating from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2
Hi All,
This weekend we have migrated one of our Core system from SQL Server 2005 SP3 to SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2. Migration went successful. However when we are trying to Configure transaction replication we are getting below Error:
Msg 21854, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSrepl_addarticle, Line 573
Could not add new article to publication 'abc' because of active schema change activities or a snapshot is being generated.
Background:
Database compability Changed from 90 to 100.

Identity seed at the subscriber changes automatically (SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 CU9).

I have and updateable transactional subscription. The identity seed at subscriber for a table changed (I don't know how) and caused next inserts generate duplicate PKs. I manually reseeded (using DBCC CHECKIDENT) its identity column to upper value to prevent
duplicates. But after 5 seconds it is automatically reseeded to lower value. I repeated reseed command but again after sync with publisher it changed to lower value. How can I solve this problem?

LeilaIt is possible in this case that you are not syncing frequently enough, or that you are doing more than 2000 inserts on the subscriber between sync's. In this case you will need to change your subscriber identity range.
Right click on your publication, select properties, then in the articles tab, locate your table, click on article properties, and select set properties of highlighted table article, in the identity range management section , set subscriber range size to
some value like 2000 or 10000. 2000 will allow up to 4000 subscriber side inserts between syncs, and 10000 will allow 20,000 inserts on the subscriber.
