Microsoft Shared Fax Driver Missing

I have been using Windows Fax and Scan to send faxes from my Pro 3500 desktop. Suddenly, the print driver for this utility no longer works. When I double click on the "fax" selection in the print device list, I get a message that says I must select a printer. When I right-click on the fax device, and look at properties,  I get an error message that says: "The Microsoft Shared Fax Driver is not installed on this computer." Any advice on how I can re-install this driver? I could find nothing on Microsoft's site.

Does anyone know if it is possible to fax from my Mac (Tiger) through Microsoft Shared Fax Service running on Server 2003? We have less than a handful of Macs in our office and have just implemented the shared fax server for all of the PC users. It would be great if the Mac users could fax through it as well

  • %PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE15\Office Setup Controller missing setup.exe

Hello everyone.  I'm told that I can run a repair of Office 2013 via the following command line pointing to a repair config xml we made and placed on a server.  Only problem is that my machines don't have a setup.exe in that path.  Did the
path where setup.exe is located change or something?
    %PROGRAMFILES(x86)%\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE15\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe /repair ProPlus /config \\server\share\RepairConfig.xml

Is your Office a Click-To-Run version or a MSI (traditional) version? If it’s a MSI version, setup.exe should be there. If it’s a Click-To-Run version, then you should not find any file called setup.exe there in that path.
For Click-To-Run version of Office, you should run the Office Deployment Tool and provide a custom Configuration.xml configuration file. The Office Deployment Tool performs the tasks that are specified by using the optional properties in
the configuration file. For details about Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run, please refer to this article:

  • Custom File Extension for Microsoft Access Text Driver (*.txt, *.csv)

I'm trying to use a custom file extension for the Microsoft Access Text Driver (*.txt, *.csv) driver.
I have updated the FileExtns registry to have my new extension.
When I issue the following it does not work.
    select [NoName]
    from openrowset('MSDASQL'
               ,'Driver={Microsoft Access Text Driver (*.txt, *.csv)};
                    DefaultDir=c:\filedir'
               ,'select * from "file.lst"')
If I make the file a .csv it works fine.  However, if it has an extension of not CSV or TXT (in this case .lst, which is in the registry setting) extension it throws the following error and cannot seem to find a solution to it.
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "(null)" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Text Driver] Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.". Msg 7350, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Cannot get the column information from
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "(null)".
In addition, (although I can probably find this elsewhere), I need to have the first line 'BLANK' so that it does not miss data (there is no header row).  Is there  a way to use OPENROWSET without BULK to basically include all rows as data?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
According to your description, I did a test with your script, and got the same message as your post. Usually, by default, the Microsoft Access Text Driver (*.txt, *.csv) supports the four extensions file, such as *.asc, *.csv, *.tab, *.txt. To solve this issue,
I recommend you try to save the LST file in the above format, then use OPENROESET to get data from the supported extensions file in SQL Server.
    In addition, the
OPENROWSET function is mainly used to retrieve remote data from an OLEDB data source, when you use OPENROWSET without BULK, provider_name is a necessary parameter in the script. However, the OPENROWSET (BULK...) is mainly called from a SELECT…FROM clause
within an INSERT statement, when importing bulk data from a data file into SQL Server table. Thus if you need to import bulk data, you should use the basic  syntax: INSERT ... SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET(BULK...), also there are some alternatives, such as
    BULK INSERT
    and
    BCP .
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you're in a domain, then as S Guna siad, you should guarantee appropriate permissions to users.
If you're not in a domain, then you can use "Password protected sharing", but this setting doesn't have effect on computers in a homegroup
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings, All networks, turn on "Password protected sharing"

  • Sharing Fax modem over network

We have the apple fax modem hooked up to our server, used to send and receive faxes. This is "shared" under system preferences. On the local LAN, all the other Mac's see this and can add the fax modem. We also have a site-site VPN and the Mac's on the other side do not automatically "see" the fax modem. I can put in the IP address and it will find it, but there is no Fax driver , or Apple modem driver to select. How do we add the Fax modem, so that we can send faxes?

  • Windows 7 network issues accessing shared/mapped drives.

I have three Thinkpads running on my home wireless network.  Two are running XP.  One - a new W520 is on Windows 7-64.  I have no issues with the XP machines.  The Win7 machine is having problems with the wireless network connection.  It's not that I lose the network - the status is connected with a good signal.  The problem is when retrieving or saving files from my server (running XP with shared/mapped drives) I get errors reading and writing files.  Just opening the shared drive in My Computer on occasion displays nothing, as if it knows the drive is there, but can't read it.  Sometimes it displays the folders but then will take an extremely long time if I try to open a folder.  Another issue is if I try to print, the job rarely completely sends to the printer.  If I plug in directly to the printer via USB, the file prints.
This has to be an issue with Windows 7 and something in the wireless setup, doesn't it?
I've searched for solutions all over the network.  It seems this is a common Win7 problem with no well defined solution.  I've had the issue since the very first day, but today, I'm just about ready to backrev to XP after losing 2 hours of work on a Photoshop file!
To date (over the last month) this is what I've done:
    Disabled the IP6 stack.
Turned off power management to shutdown the wireless card.
Updated to the latest Intel drivers for the Ultimate-N 6300 AGN adapter (direct from Intel.)
Today, I ran this, netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled but still have the network drive issue plus am having issues browsing web pages.  It's getting worse instead of better.
Anyone familiar with this issue on a Thinkpad with known solutions or recommendations?
    Thank you!

  • How to STOP Lion from reconnecting a shared Windows drive?

There's a Windows shared network drive I connect to at work on my 13.3" MacBook Pro (OS X Lion 10.7.3, Core i7, 8 GB RAM), and it appears under Finder's SHARED sidebar heading. In fact, it automatically connects any time a new Finder window is created...even if I just ejected it seconds earlier. This causes serious sluggishness or even unresponsiveness from Finder when I'm away from work (like using Wi-Fi at home), because I think Finder is trying to reconnect the drive again.
It's not under one of my user account login items, and even when I delete its password access from Keychain, its entry reappears in Keychain when I open another Finder window!
How can I stop this from happening? Any advice is appreciated. I've clicked and poked all around Finder window settings, and perhaps my eyes have glazed over to where I'm missing something obvious.

That only happens if Firefox isn't able to create or update the profiles.ini file for some reason.

  • External 'shared' drive (WD MyBookWorld) - IP address has changed and I cannot access it, or delete the old definition and re-enter it. How do I delete or edit the definition of 'Shared' computers/drives?

I have for some time used a WD MyBookWorld external hard drive and 'connected' TimeMachine to it.  This process created two 'Shared' computers visible in Finder.  MyBookWorld and MyBookWorld-Backup.  Time Machine connected to the one called MyBookWorld-Backup.
However, then the MyBookWorld acquired a new IP address (long story, it wasn't static).  Time Machine stopped working - didn't give any useful prompts by the way, noticed by accident that it hadn't backed up for a month.
So, ideally I would just like the definition of MyBookWorld 'shared' computer/drive to be updated with the new IP address.  However, I can't find out how to do this.
    - I can't delete or modify the entries via Finder (or anywhere else) of the 'Shared' computers/drives.
    - I CAN connect to the WD MyBookWorld via Finder/Go/Connect to Server and see the file hierarchy that Windows machines are using in their backups .
    - Time Machine ONLY sees the existing MyBookWorld on MyBookWorld-Backup definition, but this fails to connect - error says that the devices doesn't exist or has an incorrect IP address.
So I'm stuck.  Any one help?  I can't help feeling that I'm missing something obvious.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm not quite sure how the communities work in AppleLand.  I've had no reply from the community or from Apple.  I've not experienced this level of disinterest on any other support site.  Maybe my question was too boring....
As it happens, although I haven't resolved the problem as described, I've got Time Machine working again.  I don't exactly know how, but I updated the firmware on the MyBookWorld to the latest, and stopped using the AirPort wireless and switched to a wired connection.  Time Machine seemed to be able to find the external disk and recommence its backup regime.
If anyone cares to answer my original question that would be great.  Google shows many sites with posts asking similar questions, but without any sensible, correct, user oriented answers.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Microsoft LLDP protocol driver

Unable to setup Server 2012 Network Adapter without the Microsoft LLDP Protocol Driver. I have searched for the driver but have had no luck. My question is where is it located on the Server 2012 CD

    Hi,
The Microsoft Link-Layer Discovery Protocol service is a kernel mode driver. Please check if the mslldp.sys file exists in Windows folder under system disk or not.
    In general,
the system files may come as part of the operating system.
If mslldp.sys file is missing, you can try to restore it from your Windows 2012 installation media. Besides,
Windows OS uses a .wim file to store all system files, you can check the
    install.wim file on your CD.
If mslldp.sys file exists, maybe it is due to Microsoft Link-Layer Discovery Protocol fails to start, you can check if any error is logged.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • Since upgrade to 10.4.5: Faxing via shared fax modem broken?

Since upgrading my Macs to Mac OS X 10.4.5 sending faxes via a shard fax doesn’t work anymore. When attempting to send a fax the error message
    "Error while printing"
pops up. However, when faxing directly from the Mac with the shared fax modem, everythings works flawlessly.
This used to work prior to upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.5.
    Anyone here with similar experiences?
    Werner.
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The kernel panic points to Airport. Either your Airport software is way out of date or your Airport card may not be properly seated or has failed. So the first thing to do is remove the Airport card. If the panics cease, then reinstall the Airport card and see what happens. If it panics again, then remove the Airport card.
The next thing I would do is:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The next thing I would do is download the 10.4.4 Combo Updater and reinstall the update. Then reinstall the Airport card and see if it works properly.
I would suggest that before installing the update that you first boot into safe mode.
