Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe AIR

I ran across this by being curious but I have installed on my system the Microsoft Silverlight Plugin and the Adobe AIR plugin...
I am curious as to when and/or how these two plugins can be integrated into the Safari browser...
I know for definite that Silverlight is not working and I am not for sure about Adobe AIR at this time.

Well the Silverlight plugin from what my understanding of what it is..
Is supposed to be something like flash. You can develop applications and stream them over the internet for various media types. If you go back to the Silverlight Website ( http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/ ) the beginning animation that is on the page is running using Silverlight. Currently you cannot view it with Safari. It shows as though it is installed but shows nothing in the browser, so you will have to use one of the other browsers you have. I have seen it in use inside Gadgets for the Sidebar for Microsoft Windows, several examples on the website, and some websites are starting to use it and will enable the plugin if it is installed. Microsoft Expression Studio V1 now has the capability to develop with it as well.
Adobe AIR is pretty much the same thing, ( http://www.adobe.com/products/air/ ) Like Silverlight and Flash, it enables applications and streaming of files over the internet. A good example of it in use is the Finetune Desktop. ( http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&loc=en_us& extid=1282522 ) This is actually an application that uses AdobeAIR inside the program... It actually installs using AdobeAIR and runs seamlessly. I have been quite impressed by it. There are several examples of this on the main site itself.
Both are supposed to be cross platform and browser compatible, using new technologies to offer better resource usage, a higher quality of end-user experience, as well as many improved features for Businesses.
You will probably begin to see more and more websites using the two to build applications as the year passes. Probably even more widely used in 2009.

Why does my mac air say I need to install Microsoft silverlight and adobe?

I've installed it like ten times but still won't work. I restarted my computer and everything. I am trying to install it due to Netflix and hulu requiring it.

Download Silverlight. QUIT ALL BROWSERS mount/open Silverlight.
Install - After install
run Disk Utility DiskFirstAid: repair permissions (a good practice to follow after any install update).
Restart
Now open browser (what browser are you using)? If Safari:
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches

Adding gameCenter functionality with actionscript3 and Adobe AIR

I am writing a game in actionscript3 and adobe AIR for the iphone4. Is there a way to connect to iphone's gameCenter in actionscript3, or is that not possible and I am forced to use xcode and objective-C?
If this is not possible, are there any alternatives to gameCenter that I can program with actionscript3 and AIR? For example openFeint??

Google TV and adobe air

I am developing adobe air applications in my company and one of our aims is to be able to run an adobe air application in Google TV. We already have a Google TV device (logitect revue) but we are unable to install adobe air or and adobe air application.
We have tried with the "captive runtime" feature in order to install our application in the device, but we get the following error:

Flash Builder and Adobe AIR: anybody there?

Hi,
I've recently posted quite a few posts reporting very serious bugs of both Flash Builder 4.6 and Adobe AIR especially on mobile platforms, and asking about possible fixes and workarounds.
I would have expected immediate replies by someone at Adobe showing some interest in such blocker bugs that render Flash Builder completely useless, and developing AIR apps for mobile impossible. But there was no reply at all.
I wonder, are Flash Builder and Adobe AIR being maintained, or have they been abandoned? Because in the latter case I'd rather know it and stop wasting my time using this platform for development.

A few days ago, Gartner issued a document, called - as usual for Gartner - "magic quadrant", related to Mobile App Develpment 2012.
This document explains the situation of the different vendors so one can make an educated choice about the IDE to use for platform-independent mobile things.
Adobe is well-positioned in this quadrant. However, Gartner (who have talks with vendors before issueing their reports) only referred to PhoneGap when explaining how Adobe addresses mobile app development.
This is a shame, because FB is powerful and uses ActionScript (which many of us like).
I have bought FB last year and had fun with it. I don't think it's going to last for long, if I Adobe doesn't show that HTML5 + CSS aren't the only way to go.

Kind Chef mobile app, used Starling and Adobe AIR

Recently we were busily working on an idea called "KindChef" which is a system that helps restaurants and we as customers.
We have started a campaign for it on Indiegogo site, which is a crowdfunding site backed by Google as some of you may have heard about it, so that we can find the ones who are interested in the idea and can back us and contribute to it to help us make it happen...

We have developed a MVP (Minimum viable product) mobile app for it, using Starling and Adobe AIR. But it's not the end product and is not so optimized yet. It's just a sample app to show how the system works, but yet so many other features will be added to it's release version as we have discussed on the campaign page.
We're also going to develop a control panel for restaurants too to manage their restaurant better. we're also going to develop a desktop app for them using Adobe AIR.
Honestly, there are two reasons why I am talking about it here:
1) the Web developer’s perks, which provides AS3 programmers with many useful designs and OOP code snippets that we have used while developing the project and can help you a lot on your projects.
Also we are giving away all of the Adobe AIR Native Extensions that have been used inside of the project.
2) the second reason is to spread the word. Because sharing a campaign is a really important thing as Indiegogo counts this as a positive point for the campaigns, so if you just share it you have helped us a lot in our way, or you may also contribute to it

Are you using the latest version of Silverkeeper? - v.2.0.2 is stated to be compatible with Snow Leopard.

How much system RAM do you have? I bet if you upgraded your RAM you would not have the performance issues with 9.

Does updating Flash Player and Adobe Air solve the Swf.Exploit.CVE_2014_0581 problem?

My ClamXav found the following attached to an app (JL Edwardian Advent Calendar) on my computer: Swf.Exploit.CVE_2014_0581. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, and I have updated the Flash Player and Adobe Air, but ClamXav continues to mark it as infected. Could this be a false positive? Is it safe to run this app after the updates?

Interestingly air 3.7 on IOS to Desktop air 3.7 will work.
I am investigating if I can use 3.7 on Android to connect to 3.7 on iOS - so far I cannot get the apk to install on my Galaxy S3, compile using 3.4 and all is good. Air runtime has been updated via Play store - and build uses compiled runtime.
I cannot get Flash player 11.4 to connect with air 3.7 on iOS either.
NetGroup.Neighbour.Connect never fires.
All SDKS above 3.4 upto 3.8 beta exhibit the same problem.
3.4 works perfectly and can connect to flash player, and other Air/iOS devices just fine.
Shuld not be a issue with firewalls etc, thay are all open.
I can email you the fla, it is for a product so I can't post it here.

Microsoft server president Bob Muglia late this week confirmed a broader shift at the company away from Silverlight on the web and towards HTML5. Silverlight was now primarily the development platform for Windows Phone 7, but more cross-platform efforts would rely on the more universal standard. Muglia stressed to ZDNet that Silverlight would still run on Macs and (indirectly) Linux systems, but HTML5 was the only guarantee of support for the iPhone and Pad.

How to put microsoft silverlight on macbook air

I have a macbook air 11 inch and in order to access the inflight entertainment system on the Virgin Australia Airplane I need to download microsoft silverlight. I have followed the down load steps and downloaded and installed it on my macbook however when I go back to run the test page to see if my macbook is now compatible to run the inflight entertainment system is continues to say i don't have silverlight installed.
Has anyone come across this before and can offer a suggestion to fixing this. I think it is because the prossessor on my macbook is only 1.4GHz is this right? and if so how can I get around this?

Personally for me, I don't give two hoots about getting the latest MS Office. So, if I have a working copy of an earlier edition, that's the one I want to install. And yes, for you NO-NO people, I do remove the software from my previous computers when I do this before I sell them.
Even if I could upgrade my previous version, I wouldn't want to as it would be a waste of my time during the learning curve. In fact I'm paying this penalty now in that I'm using MS Office 08 that my wife bought (3 computer version) and insisted I put on my computer to help her on her's. I was using MS Office 03 and hate the 08 pull down menus. Since I use the program infrequently, I find myself staggering around trying to find this and that when with the '03 version, it would be simply click and done.
