Microsoft Streets & Trips -- Mac Equivalent?

Hey all,
I've got a buddy who's a very heavy Microsoft Streets & Trips user. He just switched to a Mac, but he's threatening to switch back because he can't find a decent Mac alternative to his primary Windows program.
I've never used Streets & Trips myself, so I don't know much about it. Can anyone recommend a good Mac program that goes toe-to-toe with Streets & Trips?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chip

Anyone?
Thanks,
Chip

  • Success with Microsoft Streets & Trips 2007 w/GPS

Has anyone had success using this app with their macbook/pro? The gps is usb, and before I make the plunge, I want to know how well this is working with the mac/windows combo. TIA...

    Muskeg,
I've used Streets & Trips without any difficulties. I have not however used the GPS feature of it. Since it loads the necessary drivers with it when you install the application I don't see why it wouldn't recognize the GPS device once you have it plugged in.

  • Is GPS in HP mini compatible with Microsoft streets & trips software?

I installed it on my HP mini 210-2000. It finds the built in GPS and tells me to drive the route, but I get no vehicle on the map
and it goes no further. Just keeps repeating to drive the route. It shows good satellite signals and vehicle speed flashes on & off.

you can format the harddisk first.
complete the installation of any os..
then keep your HP recovery disks and boot in..
now you can be capable of using recovery disks
    Hope this helps

Microsoft Streets & Trips 2010 - when mapping locations, can you select all push pins and show information, or do you have to do them one at a time?

    Or in the

  • Microsoft Streets and Trips, Mac version?

Is there a Macintosh version of MS Streets and Trips on the market? I'd rather have it running directly in OSX than do a Windows partition and run it there.
    TIA.

Parallels or VMWare creates a 'virtual hard drive' on your Mac. Expect to devote ~6GB or so of space on your drive for this hard drive which OS X sees as one large file otherwise. You can pass files between the OS X and virtual machine when it is running.
I wouldn't completely rule out the idea of running a virtual PC on the Mac. It has worked out very well for me so far - as I said, the main reason I do so is for M$ Streets & Trips. And either program includes an app to 'transport' the Windows installation from the existing PC to a new virtual machine on the Mac, so if the laptop is dying or is just plain old, you can move the copy of Windows to the Mac fairly easily (I haven't done that myself - I loaded my virtual PC from scratch).

  • Mac equivalent to Microsoft OneNote?

I had no idea what forum to post, but here is my question...
Anyone know of a Mac equivalent to MS Office OneNote?
Taken from the Microsoft OneNote website...
"In its simplest form, OneNote is an electronic version of a paper notebook where you can write down notes, thoughts, ideas, scribbles, reminders, and all kinds of other information. Unlike the traditional document page format of other programs such as word-processing or spreadsheet programs, OneNote offers a free-form canvas where you can type, write, or draw notes in the form of text, graphics, and images wherever and however you want them."

You might check out the Devonthink Pro review at MacWorld. The article also mentions some other applications that are close to OneNote although there's really no specific replacement.

What's the Mac equivalent of Microsoft Paint?
It used to be MacPaint, but isn't that long gone?
Is it iLife? If so, in the specs I don't see any mention of
basic paint functions although maybe it has them.
Obviously I don't have a current Mac or I'd know the answer
    to this.

  • Is there a Mac equivalent of the Windows Live Mail client?

(If anyone reading isn't familiar with Windows Live Mail, please look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WindowsLiveMail to see what I mean. Please don't suggest clients like Microsoft Entourage etc as they're not what I'm looking for!)
I used to have a Windows laptop and used the Windows Live Mail client to manage my Hotmail accounts. It was brilliant as it synchronised exactly with webmail (all folders present and correct, if I deleted an email on the webmail it would delete from the programme and vice versa, etc) and did this with as many email accounts as I liked - so I could access all three from the same screen. Perfect!
When I got a Macbook I discovered that Windows Live Mail wasn't available for Mac. I spent a couple of weeks looking for a suitable alternative but never found one.
I'm aware of how to use Hotmail in a regular mail client but I've not found one exactly the same as Windows Live Mail. There's always a problem with synchronisation between the client and webmail, I can only get the inboxes imported and no other folders synchronise which is a pain as I don't always use my laptop to read my email - if I read it elsewhere using webmail and move an email from the inbox to another folder, I'd have to do a second time when I next use my laptop. Hence I don't bother and just use webmail instead - but I hate logging in and out of three accounts!
As it's been ages since I last looked, I thought I'd look again - but I still can't find anything that works the way I want.
Is there a Mac equivalent of Windows Live Mail (http://download.live.com/wlmail)? Something that works in exactly the same way? I wish Windows weren't so childish and would just release a version of this for Mac... it's pretty much the only thing I miss from my old laptop!
(Please don't suggest changing email accounts - I've asked this elsewhere and that was the only response I got!)

In few words, "No." There is no such client for the Mac. The closest you may find would be to try the Mac MSN client, aMSN - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - but it's essentially just a messenger clone. I doubt it includes a Live Mail client.
(Please don't suggest changing email accounts - I've asked this question elsewhere and that was the only response I got!)
Because there is no other response.

  • Microsoft money for mac

I am looking for microsoft money software to download to my mac.
Any leads?  I tried amazon and ebay.

I do not use either Money or Quicken, but there is no currently shipping Mac version of Money.
A lot of people swear by Moneydance. I understand that it has the ability to use the same .ofx files that Money does.
Of course you can always use Parallels and run Windows in a virtualized window in order to run Money, but that seems like a lot of work if there is a Mac equivalent program available.
Moneydance has a trial. Download it and see what you think.

  • Issues with Microsoft Word for mac closing when I try to open old or newly downloaded documents

When I download a document from my professor, or try to open an older document, my word automatically quits. If it's already closed and I try to open a document, it will show the dot at the bottom of the icon that it's loading to open but it quickly disappears and quits itself. Is anyone else experiencing this issue or know what I can do to fix it? Thanks.
