Microsoft Virutal Machine is Virtual Trash

I installed the Hotfix for the MS Virtual Machine and I can no longer Customize my Internet Security settings to a lower level. I adjust the settings and they revert back to a medium level, thus preventing operation of certain database access across the Network. This is a disaster since there is no un-install available. What now Microsoft? The only resolution seems to be a reload, which totally is not appreciated. And to Avoid this Virtual Machine Hot Fix update which BLows up my JAVA VM. Before this hotfix was install, the installation of Sun's JAVA Plugin for Windows XP
Prof. would correct any dysfunctional problems with MS's Virtual Machine. This no longer works and I recommend Everyone Avoid this Hotfix trash from MS.
Sincerely Agitated,
Gary Osowski

Instead of a fresh install, why don't you revert to your backed up and saved configuration that should be performed before any system updates or "hotfixes" are downloaded and installed. As far as the MS Virtual Machine rollback & discontinued support, you can thank the Department of Justice and the litigants that filed suit against Microsoft for the current incompatibilities in Runtime Environments. Wasn't the purpose of that trial to return computers/computer development to the small businesses and individuals that could promote new ideas and product that could run across any platform? Hmmmm, yet the result is now I can't run simple applets cross-platform and the corporations on both sides seem to be better off than before. Thanks alot!

  • Virutal machines on Windows Hyper-V Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
How many Virutal Machines ( Guests)  can we create on a host with Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 installed on the host .
Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 is free version from Microsoft right ?
    Thanks

What I understood from above is ,if we install the hyper-v server 2012 R2 standard version on the host, we can create only 2 windows VM's.
Not quite. There's no such thing as "Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 Standard". You either install Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 which is free and then license the servers you install on it separately, or you install Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard or Datacenter edition
    and configure Hyper-V on there.
I believe you CAN buy a licence for just a virtual machine, though it would be a bit pointless when Standard covers you for two virtual machines.
Going the free Hyper-V Server route is useful in particular if you're installing non-MS VM's which don't require MS licensing, or if you're P2Ving some existing physical servers which are already licensed.
Note, if you install a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard licence to cover two VM's then it may be worth simply installing that rather than the free version unless you really don't want the UI available on the host. A standard licence covers you for 2 servers,
and as long as the host server is doing nothing other than handle Hyper-V the copy of Standard on the host doesn't count towards it. So for instance you could have Server 2012 standard installed on the host, install the Hyper-V role on it and also install
the IIS role on there, at which point you can only have 1 VM running there on that licence, but without IIS or anything else on there you can have 2 VM's. If you need more than 2 VM's (while not needing enough to warrant the cost of Datacenter) then you can
install a second Standard licence which covers you for another two virtual machines.
    There's a guide to licensing Hyper-V here
http://download.microsoft.com/download/7%2F7%2F0%2F7707E736-4557-4310-9709-87358F7E6D1A/WindowsServer2012VirtualTech_VLBrief.pdf though as Eric said it's probably worth giving the licensing guys a call rather than putting your trust in unknown non-MS people
    on the internet! :-)

  • Accidentally deleted Time Machine backups into Trash...

I messed up big time -- I moved my Time Machine backups into Trash from Finder.  I've looked around online and it seems like I've really screwed myself over.  I can't reformat/erase the disk because I have about 1.4 TB of other material on it and I don't have any other disk big enough to temporarily hold all these files.  Is there any way to either restore or delete the backups without harming the rest of the files on the disk?

One friend is said that it is possible to work on Microsoft windows machine same like mac machine. he didn't tell me because he said that i take $125 for 1 hour so i rejected to pay this money.
Now please anyone tell me that how can i work on windows.

You'll need XCode and the iPhone SDK to develop for the iPhone. These only run on Mac OS X, which is only officially supported on Mac hardware. I don't know of any solution to run XCode under any other OS.

  • Service Portal Console Displaying "Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virutal machine"

    Hey All,
The issue we are having is that our admins and users cannot use the web console in the Service Portal.
When they right click on the VM and go to console a new tab opens and a message appears where the Console should appear stating: Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine
We have tried Chrome/Firefox and IE 9/10/11. With Firefox and Chrome it just tries to load the Console Session.
Wonder if the community can provide some insight.
    Thanks

    Hi Boris,
Are your hosts Hyper-V hosts? Console connect makes use of an ActiveX control and users will need permission to install the ActiveX control.
This ActiveX control will then connect directly to the Hyper-V host that is running the virtual machine, which requires the client computer to have connectivity to the Hyper-V hosts and the user will need permission on the Hyper-V server.
    Kind Regards,
    Richard

  • SQL Azure with Azure Virtual Machine inside Virtual Network - How to connect

    Hi Team,
I have one typical scenario where there is one Windows Application I wan to run from my Windows Azure Virtual Machine which is inside Azure Virtual Network (which has its DNS and ADFS and etc..)
Because its Virtual Network, We can't access internet within that network, apparently Virtual Machine can't access SQL Azure. So, How would we resolve this scenario.
Application is running great from my local system so, its accessing SQL Azure Database from my system. So, Application or SQL Azure or connection or such areas has no issue.
    Regards, Brijesh Shah

    Hi Brij,
    Thanks for your reply.
To add a DNS server in an Azure Virtual network, you can refer to the link below:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn275925.aspx
To obtain a public Azure-provided DNS server IP addresss, you can run "ipconfig/all" in another Azure VM which is not a virtual network which has DNS server defined. After you add a DNS server in the virtual network that VM belongs to, please restart
the VM to update the change.
However, since you mentioned that you are using a customed domain, I am not quite sure if any other configuration should be done for your domain.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • Physical machines VS Virtual machines for SCOM system

    Hi all,
We are about to build SCOM system which will host around 80 hosts in the beginning but it may grows up to a thousand or more hosts. We are debating whether to use virtual machines or physical machines for that purpose.  So far all SCOM systems (management
servers,DB,DW) I have dealt with are hosted on physical machines.
Can anyone provide advice based on experience regarding this issue?

Microsoft supports running all System Center 2012 – Operations Manager server features in any physical or virtual environment that meets the minimum requirements that are stated in this document. However, for performance reasons, we recommend
that you store the operational database and data warehouse database on a directly attached physical hard drive, and not on a virtual disk. Specifically, virtual computers that are running any Operations Manager server feature must not use
any functionality that does not immediately commit all activity on the virtual computer to the virtual hard drive. This includes making use of point-in-time snapshots and writing changes to a temporary virtual hard drive. This is true for every virtualization
technology that is used with Operations Manager.
You can work on SCOM virtualization and it will supported your agent but
operational database and data warehouse database on a directly attached physical hard drive, and not on a virtual disk

  • How do I retrieve Time Machine folder from Trash

    Hello All,
    This is my first posting!
I've read quite a bit on these forums, and found some great info on Time Machine, particularly Pondini's posts and website (thank you!).
    Here is my issue:
iMac (2007) with Mountain Lion getting slow, and last week start-up got stuck on grey screen.  Looks like hard drive failing, according to Apple Store Genius. They manage to get me back up and running in Mountain Lion thanks to a recent Time Machine backup on external hard drive via USB.
I get the beast home, and start a new TM backup on the same external HD.  It says disk full, can't complete backup.
In Finder (bad idea, I now know), I open the TM folder in the external HD, only to find duplicate copies of the Macintosh folder, with months worth of backups in each (identical).  Thinking this will confuse the Mac/Time Machine, I figure I should delete one.  I call the Apple store to make sure it's ok to delete one copy.  They say YES. I drag it to the trash, but when I go back to check the backups.backupdb folder, they're BOTH gone.
I try to drag it back out of the trash, but after a few hours of "preparing to copy" the iMac freezes.  Back to the Apple store, and it's now limping along in OS version 10.6.  A new iMac purchase is close on the horizon...
So, I have a recent TM backup that I would like to use, but it's in the trash on my external HD!
I've used Finder to look through the folder in the trash, and retrieved individual documents and desktop folders that I need.
Email, calendar and contacts are all safely duplicated on my MBP.
However, I have music and a few years of photos that I desperately would like to recover.
Ultimately, I plan to use the most recent TM backup to migrate to my upcoming new iMac.
All is not totally lost, as I have a second TM backup on another external HD - although it's from March 2013.  Not the end of the world to lose photos from March to now, but if I can get them back, I'd like to.  They seem so tantalizingly close, sitting in the trash.
So, my question is: can I retrieve my Time Machine Macintosh folder from the trash?
    Options I've considered so far:
Simply use the "Put Back" option that comes up with Right-Clicking the folder.  Too chicken to try this up to now.
Drag and drop it?  Huge file, will take a looooong time.
Copy one recent backup in the trash to a separate drive and use that to migrate to new iMac (from Pondini's FAQ#18, I'm doubting this will work - but I'm trying this now; several hours in and file is 317Gb).
Copy the photos from an individual backup.  From what I gather, with my version of iPhoto being '11, I can't see individual photos and I'll have to copy the entire library as one file and import it later.  Again, huge file, long time.
    I would appreciate any suggestions!
    Many thanks in advance.

  • How to convert a physical machine to virtual machine ?

    Hi,
I'm confortable with Xen that I use for years, but with Oracle VM, there are some points that would need more explanation.
Here is what I already did :
    - Create a disk file image, and make a filesystem on it. (with dd and mkfs.ext3)
    - Copy all the content of my physical machine to the virtual disk image. (rsync -a)
    - Create a vm.cfg file.
    My problems :
    - OVS use to create virtual disk image instead of virtual partition image. I don't know how to manage this. I'm using the image OVM_EL5U1_X86_64_PVM_10GB to understand how oracle encapsulated the /boot partition, the / and the swap within the same file that contains a partition table, 2 partitions : the first is the /boot, the second is a lvm pv. With lvm, they created 2 volumes : the / and the swap.
Where can I get a clear howto to use losetup and set the correct offset in order to be able to mount the partition or to activate the lvm ?
    - I'm not familiar with pygrub. This looks very nice script, but I don't know why it doesn't work with my basic images. Is it necessary to have a /boot partition within the image file ?

  • ISight Camera on Windows Xp as a virtual machine in Virtual Box

I'm using Virtual Box to run Windows Xp in my MacBook Pro. I have been trying to have a video conference through Messenger but iSight is not being recognized. I've gone through the process of installing the Guest Additions and there I've selected iSight. But when windows try to install the new detected hardware, does not find any driver for iSight. Has anyone been lucky to make iSight Camera work properly under this environment? I've gone to Virtual Box forum and I haven't found any positive answer.
    Message was edited by: RudyGomez

You’re absolutely right. I installed the Skype program in Mac OS X directly and not in any virtual machine. I forgot to say this. I’m using Virtual Box of Sun Microsystems as the virtualization software and not Parallels neither VMware Fusion neither BootCamp. I went to Virtual Box forums and there is not solution for the moment to make it work the iSight Camera because there is not a driver. Anyway I tried to get the driver from the installation disk that you told me but the Windows virtual machine does not catch the DVD by any means, I tried in different ways and not one worked. Besides I read that the drivers that comes with the installation DVD only works for Boot Camp. I’m not at all an expert on this.
In spite that now I can have a videoconference with my Windows’ friends and relatives, I’m still waiting for the proper solution to the iSight driver in Virtual Box.
Thanks a lot for your suggestion.

  • How to delete time machine backups from trash bin

    Hello,
I've got a little issue with time machine and doing something stupid on my part. I have seen different posts on this question, but it appears that most people haven't found a working solution, so I want to see if anybody has more insight.
A few weeks back I found that there were some files and folders that were getting backed up to time machine that I didn't want getting backed up for various reasons. Rather than wisely removing the individual folder and files like I've since learned, I removed the whole backup for that date to the trash bin. I know, bad choice.
I've tried to empty trash bin and delete the backups altogether, but error codes and permissions keep me from doing that. Space isn't an issue on the external drive I use for Time Machine, so I'd be fine with just getting the files OUT of trash and back into the folder with other backup dates-now that I know how to delete individual files. When I try and drag them back to TM folder from trash, get another error message saying something along the lines of the "drive not being able to be modified".
I've heard of some people using Terminal to remove files, while other folks say that that's dangerous and asking for bigger problems in the OS. So, what are my BEST options? Just want to get locked files out of the trash bin, don't care where they go at this point. I've tried the secure trash delete option and some other simple suggestions with no luck. Backups still sitting in trash.

    Hi DonnaR,
What's not good is to remove them via the Finder or any way other than within Time Machine
Unfortunately this is what I did, and I know better now, but I can't undo what foolish thing I did. I have tried the steps to a T that you included in earlier post from this page- http://pondini.org/TM/E6.html using the Terminal method. The files are still sitting in trash, no change. I have also done the "secure trash" thing holding down option key and that hasn't worked either. I have also done repeated REPAIR DISK operations of the external drive within Disk Utility and a freeware program called Maintenance, and unless there' some special reboot needed, I still see the files there. At this point, and after reading more on pondini.org, I'd rather figure out a way to "Put Back" deleted backups sitting in trash bin to their place in Time Machine folder via finder, if I could figure out a permissions way around the error message I get saying "The operation can’t be completed because backup items can’t be modified." Is there some way of tricking the Finder window into letting me copy back items somehow? Once I get them back in, I will go through and delete the files from INSIDE Time Machine Star Wars view like suggested.    Force deleting items from trash using TrashIt or OnyX is my very last resort. Once I get this figured out, I intend to upgrade to Mavericks, but I want to do it with everything working and clean.   Thanks again!

  • ISE and Microsoft AD machine authentication

    Hello Security masters,
my goal is to perform a PEAP authentication against Microsoft AD with the machine credentials of the Windows PC.
The question is, how my authorization policy looks like? From my understanding I have different possibilities to solve this:
1.) Directly referencing to the AD group, where the computer objects are stored:
If "Any" and <AD-NAME>:ExternalGroups equals <DOMAIN>/COMPUTERS then PermitAccess
Drawback: If I have multiple subdomains or if the computer accounts are stored in different OUs or groups, I have to check all of them (multiple rules or compound conditions)
    2.) Username checking
If "Any" and Network Access:UserName STARTS_WITH host\ then "PermitAccess"
I'm checking if the username starts with "host\", which is normally an indicator for a machine/computer account
    3.) Attribute checking
If "Any" and <AD-NAME>:servicePrincipalName STARTS_WITH host\ then "PermitAccess"
I'm checking the value of the "servicePrincipalName" of the AD. Normally only computers have this attribute and the value is "host\<PC-NAME>
Is one of these three approaches the right way to do it, or am I doing it completely wrong.
Is there a best-practice approach to do this? How did you guys solve this?
Best regards and thank you in advance
    Johannes

    Hi Neno,
    thank you for your answer.
There are multiple domains in the forest and the computer / machine accounts are in multiple groups.
So a trust relationship is not enough to reach the goal. In the ISE you have to add all these groups to the ISE search index in the External Identity Sources - AD settings. Plus you'll have to check for all these groups in the authorization policy (either manually or with a compound condition).
    Is that right?

  • Yosemite everything slow, freezing up, Help before I toss this machine in the trash!

Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite my machine has gotten slower and slower.  At this point functioning on this machine is a train wreck.  Open an application - go get coffee, fold laundry, check...still application bouncing.
When it finally opens every action brings the spinning beachball.
Multiple pages while browsing the internet? Can't do it.
    Multiple applications open?  Nope
Everything loads impossibly slow and often crashes - I spend more time Force Quitting and trying again than I do actually getting done what I set out to do.
So far this is what I have done:
    Multiple disk utility repairs
    SMC reset
Wiped the computer completely clean and reinstalled.
    Problem description:
Yosemite issue.  Everything has slowed to a snails pace.  I can’t have multiple applications open.  The computer locks up, freezes, applications don’t open or freeze and I have to force quit.  Even though FileVault is OFF I can’t configure automatic log in, It’s a mess.

Why don't you just give it a try to uninstall it, use Firefox and see it it does not improve. If it is not it, you can always install anew your preferred browser. It is cheaper, and quicker than having a HD replaced. Plus you can do it yourself immediately.
If it is not that, I will also support the HD theory, with one variation. Check if there was not a Firmware update for your WD HD. If I recall correctly, there was a problem and some firmware and software had to be updated. Worth a try?

  • FOUND FILE "MACHINE" IN MY TRASH?!?!

So I was cleaning out my trash and found this file "machine" that apparently cannot be deleted in my trash.
    Here is the path:
    Machine > System > Library > Core Services > boot.efi and Bootx
When I try and delete it says it is locked and in use.
Any ideas how this got there, what it is, how to remove, etc...?

I had the same problem and holding down the option key while emptying the trash gets rid of it. The bootx file was in a previous system folder from when I did an archive and install after the new Tiger version messed up a lot of things on my computer. I have no idea what that file is.

  • Missing Virutal Machines on hyper v

    Hey there
I have 30 Vm's running on a server core 2008 data center host server core.  I added this server to the Virtual machine manager 2008 beta.  22 of the VM's showed up and 8 were shown as missing.  After this, I couldn't even see the 8 VM's in hyper v manager on another server.
So I decided to remove the host from VMM 2008 beta hoping they would show up in hyper v manager.  that did not happen.  So now, I have 30 Virtual machines running on the host, and I can only see 22 of them.  I can ping the 8 VM's I don't see, so I know they are up and running.
Is there any way to get these VM"s to show up in the hyper v manager console?  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello,
Have you ever tried to restart VMMS service on the Server Core? I saw this problem before and resolved it by just restarting the service. You can do it by running the following commands:
Net stop "Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management"
Net start "Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management"
Or, if possible, try restarting the physical server to see how it goes.
If this cannot help, please open the Event Viewer on the Full installation of Windows Server 2008 machine, right-click the Event Viewer and select Connect to Another Computer… to connect to the Server Core. See if any errors or warnings are logged there.
    Best regards,
    Chang Yin
