Microsoft Windows and Exchange Cals

HiI am going through a Microsoft review - for the past 7 months backwards and forwards.We bought out our licensing from osl a couple of years ago. I had 45 core cals which included windows, exchange, sharepoint, endpoint etc, which have been allocated to users.1: I have several mailboxes set up which are used for receiving emails from our website for eg [email protected] or group emails like [email protected] do not access file/print servers and have only been added as additional mailboxes on a users outlook.2: Ihave sales reps and engineers set up so they can access their email on mobile phones and ipads through an exchange account, again they do not access file servers etc.When we employ more staff I will buy a windows cal and exchange cal if they need email and access to the file server. If the end user only requires...

  • Java program to interface with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange.

    I am in the process of writing a Java GUI application that can connect to Microsoft Exchange servers and get appointments information.
    I tried using JIntegra's Java Exchange Bridge but I keep getting a "AutomationException - class not registered" error whenever my code gets to the part where it attempts to login.
    Ive configured everything properly and have the appropriate access.
    Can anyone help me or give me some ideas of another way to implement this GUI?
    Thanks

    Ive configured everything properlyQuite likely not.
    I know almost nothing about JIntegra -- but when I look at their website, I see a "Support" page and a "Knowledge Base" page. Seems to me there is a much higher density of expertise over there than there is here.
    I know in Windows you can't use a DLL unless you've registered it, which does something to your registry. And you have to be an administrator to do that. Perhaps you have to do something like that on your machine.

  • Now that Apple is supporting Intel and NVidia, WHEN is Apple going to release OS X to the general public as option to Microsoft Windows and Linux???

    I have the hardware and am definitely interested in another option to Windows 7 besides Linux.
    Any chance that Apple will recognize a major business opportunity by releasing OS-X to the general public?

  • Webutil usage on Windows and Unix clients - Host and Temp dir issues

    Hello,
    I am in the process of writing a Forms application which makes use of WebUtil to handle the uploading and downloading of files, as well as launching the files on the client PCs. The code below is my current 'Launch' program which works great in a Microsoft Windows environment. It gets the TEMP directory location, builds a file name, downloads the file to the TEMP directory and uses the Host command to launch the file.
    PROCEDURE Launch_DB IS
    l_directory varchar2(200) := client_win_api_environment.get_temp_directory(true);
    l_success boolean;
    BEGIN
    :file_block.full_file_name := l_directory || '\' || :file_block.file_name;
    l_success := webutil_file_transfer.DB_To_Client_with_progress
    (clientFile => :file_block.full_file_name
    ,tableName => 'FILES
    ,columnName => 'FILE_DATA'
    ,whereClause => 'ID = ' || :file_block.id
    ,progressTitle => 'Download from Database in progress'
    ,progressSubTitle=> 'Please wait'
    if l_success then
    WEBUTIL_HOST.NONBLOCKING('CMD /C "' || :file_block.full_file_name || '"');
    else
    exception
         when others then
         message('File download failed: '||sqlerrm);
    END;
    My problem is that I've just discovered that there's a new group of users that will want access to these forms, and they're using non-windows machines - mostly Solaris and Linux. As such, I have these problems:
    - " client_win_api_environment.get_temp_directory " is a Microsoft Windows specific function. Is there any way to determine a temporary storage area on a Unix machine?
    - " WEBUTIL_HOST.NONBLOCKING('CMD /C "' || :file_block.full_file_name || '"'); " - CMD is Microsoft Windows specific function. What should I do to launch a file from Unix? (Sorry, my Unix skills are pretty minimal).
    - I'm guessing that I'll need to determine the operating system so that I can use different methods to determine the TEMP dir, and to execute the HOST command. Assuming that Microsoft Windows and Unix variants are the only OS's that I need to provide access to, what is the best way to determine the client environment ( eg. IF UPPER(WebUtil_ClientInfo.Get_Operating_System) like '%WINDOWS%' THEN ... ELSE ... END IF; ) . I only have access to Windows XP for testing so I don't know what values "WebUtil_ClientInfo.Get_Operating_System" will return for any other OS.
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Regards,
    Michael.

    Hi,
    as far as launching the file goes, if teh program that runs the file exist on teh local computer, you can use teh host command in webutil to access teh program and file. CMD is what you use to open teh command line on windows, but the host command is supposed to work on the UNIX client as well.
    For the temp directory, you have two options
    The short term option: Pass the temporary directory name as a user variable to Forms when starting the application. This can be user specific if adding this information to the URL using teh otherparams parameter
    The longterm option: Log a TAR with Oracle customer support to add a function to teh getClientInfo function that retruns the temporary directory for the authenticated user.

  • Deploying Windows Server 2012 and Exchange Server 2013

    Hi All,
    Our Clinet is planning to implement Exchange Server 2013 as an email solution. There is no Active Directory Domain exists in the environment. So, we have planned to configure a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard as a Domain Controller and Exchange
    Server 2013 Standard would be installed on another Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.
    The setup would be for 250 users. Please guide me about the Cost of OS + Exchnage and CAL for 250 Users.
    Warm Regards,
    Prosenjit Sen
    Thanks & Regards, Prosenjit Sen.

    Another option would be to consider signing up for Office 365 instead of setting up the hardware and software for such a small number of users.  It will take a long time for the cost of the hardware, maintenance, and support to be less costly than Office
    365, if it would ever be less expensive.  There is a lot of maintenance required for Exchange, so unless your client already has someone experienced in configuring and maintaining Exchange, there is a lot of expense in bringing someone up to speed to
    perform those functions capably.
    Just a suggestion.  I do not work for Microsoft and I have no financial incentive to propose an Office 365 environment.  I just know that if I were running my own business, I would have to be convinced that my business required its own internal
    mail system when there are so many fully functional and capable mail systems available via subscription.

    The clients will only be accessing trough outlook , i understand i need 250 Exchange 2013 User CAL's, but do i also need need Windows Server 2012 CAL's ?
    thanks in advance !

  • REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES CLIENT ACCESS LICENSES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD AND DATACENTER

    I am using a window 7 professional  service pack 1 and I purchase REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES CLIENT ACCESS LICENSES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD AND DATACENTER. but  the seller did not send me any installation CD or instruction
    on how to use it.
     Please how can I use it on my window 7 professional  service pack 1.
    Thank you.

    Though Bill is absolutely correct for most CALs, Remote Desktop Services does have its own special licensing server.  I haven't installed one on 2012, yet, but here is a step-by-step guide for 2008.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd983943(v=ws.10).aspx
    Here is a lab guide for 2012 -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134160.aspx
    But, the explanation of your environment begs the question - what are you trying to do?  You say you have a desktop OS and you are talking about Windows Server products.  In that light, your question does not make a lot of sense.

  • Windows 8/8.1 devices, BitLocker and Exchange Activesync "Require encryption on device"

    Recently I've been testing a change to our Exchange ActiveSync Policy , "Require encryption on device". This works fine for  Windows 8 phones, all iOS devices and some Android. However, W8 tablets with BitLocker on have an issue getting Activesync
    email.
    Is BitLocker considered to be insufficient Encryption for an Exchange Activesync policy which enforces: "Require encryption on device".

    Hi dude -d,
    "Require encryption on device Select this check box to require encryption on the mobile phone. This increases security by encrypting all information on the mobile phone."
    Here is a link for reference of this policy
    View or Configure Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policy Properties
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123994(v=exchg.141).aspx
    Considering this policy is to increase the security by encrypting the device ,there maybe some conflicts here if the the device has been protected by the Bitlocker .This is just my own assumption.
    To understand this policy more deeply ,it is recommended to ask for help from our Exchange Forum .They are more familiar with this policy and they may have more resources to help understand this issue .

  • What Microsoft recommend on installing a SIEM agent on AD and Exchange ?

    Can you please advise what Microsoft best practices are on installing SIEM agents on AD and Exchange for log collection.
    For Instance Qradar solution insists to install
    WinCollect on AD and Exchange, but I am reluctant fearing that it will utilize compute and memory resource creating bottlenecks..
    I would rather collect information through WMI..
    Any Microsoft document strengthening my opinion?
    Ikhlass M. Wardally

    Hi,
    I just want to confirm what is the current situation.
    It seems like there is no MS document mentioned about installing SIEM agent on AD and as Joseph__Moody mentioned, installing  any additional software on domain controller is not the best practice.

    I have Windows 7, Microsoft Outlook and PSE 13. I have used the "Share photos as embedded images" feature frequently, but today when I went to use it, it wasn't there, only the option to send email with files attached. How do I get back the ability to send emails with photos embedded. I like adding the frames and backgrounds and I think it's easier for recipients to look at the photos. Thanks for any suggestions of things to try.
    Gail

    I had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage.  Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever.  After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed.  They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself.  After that, the pics go over imessage.  My own Iphone didn't have the problem.  We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.
