Is there any way to configure Microsoft Windows Outlook (2003 or 2007) to check their email (POP3) from Mac OS X 10.6.2 mail server by using CRAM-MD5 or APOP?

I've recently added the MacAir to my Microsoft /Windows network. The Mac sees my printers but all the printers are "paused" and I cannot print, even if directly attached. How do I fix this?
Yes, I've that and it didn't work. Today, I reinstalled printer software on one printer and the "paused" message changed to "offline". It's a three-in-one printer. I turned off and on again and it still says "offline"

The EULA allows you to install Acrobat on one device. There are two exceptions:
If you are the only user of Acrobat on your work computer, you can also install it on your home computer, as long as you are again, the only user of Acrobat on that 2nd system
If you are the only user of Acrobat on your desktop system, you can also install it on your laptop, as long as you are again, the only user of Acrobat on that 2nd system.
In both cases, you cannot use both versions at the same time.

Sharing files between users and macs
My husband and I share an iMac. I have a MBA for traveling and my husband a PC laptop (though he rarely uses for private stuff). We both have iPhones.
We are looking for a way to:
- Share our photos (we don't use iPhoto) and some files. We would like to have this in one shared folder, that we can access from both accounts in the iMac, the MBA and ideally (though not a must) the PC and iPhones. We would both need to have admin rights to edit documents, etc.
- Have access to all the information in my account on the iMac from the MBA. Ideally, same thing for his and the PC.
- Have access to all the data remotely when traveling.
- Have all the data backed up locally (we already have a cloud backup, but we'd like to have a local backup too as it's easier and quicker to access)
We have read a lot about configuration, NAS, time capsule... but we get more and more confused, as we are obviously no tech experts.
Dropbox is not our preferred choice. We already have a cloud backup system. We'd rather have the files stored and accessed locally for everyday use.
Using a NAS to store shared folders and backup the rest sounds good, but they either seem very complicated to set up, or they have mixed reviews in terms of stability, especially to access files remotely.
Timecapsule seems easier and more straightforward, but I'm not sure it would solve the "sharing files between users and macs with admin rights"? It seems to be more focused on backing up the main drive and then providing access to the backed up files. (Though I might be completely mistaken!)
We just can't manage to have one shared folder between both accounts in the iMac. We need to grant admin rights document by document. We don't manage to make it work automatically so we both have one folder to access with full rights for all the contents inside it. And this seems to me like something that should easily be done...?
Any help, advice, proposals... would be greatly appreciated!!!Move any file you want to the other user to access to the Shared Folder. Anything you put in that folder is available to all users.

Can aim users and .mac users video/audio chat with each other?
today was a crazy day with ichat. two of my friends were able to video chat 1 on 1. my mac is qualified to handle 3-way or 4-way chats. when they invite me, the bubble pops up. i hit accept and the loading spindle keeps on spinning for minutes until it just denies me entrance. they get an error saying i never accepted, so as soon as they invite me, they don't get any other response back.
could it be that i am on the AIM network and both of them are on the .mac network?

Yes. Apple does not have its own publicly available IM service; iChat uses the AIM network, and there are few functional differences between AIM and .Mac screen names. If they are using a client other than iChat, there may be interoperability issues with audio and video chats, or the other client may not support those types of chatting.

Non iCloud contact sync not working with iPhone 4S and Microsoft Windows/Outlook
Trying to sync contacts without success! Have iPhone 4S and Microsoft Windows, not using iCloud. I've gone through the Info route and told it to sync but the data doesn't transfer. Any idea why?
what version of Outlook are you using. I know right now its not compatible with Outlook 2013.

I am trying to run Windows and Mac OS on my brand new MacBook Pro. I need to be able to boot to either one. I don't need a lot of hard drive space for the Windows OS. However, the software discs I own for Windows are 32 bit install. Is there a way to run this with what I have? I have the new MacBook 13 in. with retina display. 2.6Ghz i5 with 8GB RAM and 512 GB PCIe Hard drive.

I think you should take it back to the Geeks and tell them what you want, I also think you should backup before you do.
You do not need to reformat or repartition, you need to reinstall Windows from a 64bit copy, 32 & 64 have identical requirements as far as partition and format go, defragmenting has nothing at all to do with your needs. -
Mix between MS Outlook Calendar and Mac Contacts - how I got to work
I've tried to mix my work PC computer with Microsoft Outlook Calendar with my Mac based iPhone. This is how I did it. Can this be done by mobileme?
For Now it this works with Outlook over USB.
My Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 windows XP within firewall is now synchronized to my Phone
It now works great .. even if not wireless [can live with that..at least for now] and even if attachment does not sync no pdf, word, excel or pictures in the notes is synchronized.
Amazingly simple, I'm sure I tried this before ..but maybe the 2.01 changed something or iTunes 7.7.1 ..
My set up
I have my master mac synced to the iPhone itself i.e. iPod/music and pictures
I have my contacts and mail synced as MobileMe.
I Turned off the iCal MobileMe
I connected the office laptop with usb connector to iPhone. ..it asks for where/how to sync photos. [To turn this off: On PC go to Control panel- Scanners & Hardware - Cameras. Select "Apple iPhone" ] and opens ITunes.
ITunes ask what to do since my iPhone is linked with another computer.. I click merge, make sure nothing on the iTunes is selected ..more than calendar and outlook.
Appears to sync fawlessy and update both to and from iPhone… subject and location and notes sync but no attachment. Notes have a characther limit. with a meeting request, I do not seam to be able to access participants. With alarm set this pops up even with screen/iPhone locked similar to how a SMS is displayed
It appears that most of the time I need to reconnect because ITunes reports "ITunes cannot sync information because sync has been disabled…Do you want to enable syncing" Clicking OK appears to fix it i.e. at least fix it temporarily
Syncing with MS Outlook works with it running but also when not running.
The first sync took some time, possibly because it also backs up the iPhone [some 10gb data]. Repeated sync takes a minute or less
..and in atypical PC fashion you need to restart iTunes and disconnect iPhone from time to time.

I was unsure about which HP software to delete so I used the HP uninstall app to delete it all. Unfortunately, it deleted the new Snow Leopard installed drivers as well. I then had to download the HP driver set from Apple to restore functionality. Printing is just as it was before, but scanning is done differently and feels a bit strange at first. All in all, it is probably a good thing as I always found HP's software to be a bit clunky and crash prone. I do miss being able to scan from within Photoshop via the TWAIN selection, though. Perhaps that will return in time. -
