Microsoft wmv files to play on iphone

How do I import a Microsoft .wmv file and play it on my iphone?

Imagine engine,
For further information that requires you have a codec installed to read WMV files in Quicktime.
Since Microsoft hasn't updated Windows Media Player for Mac in a while, they now provide a link to such a codec from their Mac support site.
Hope this helps,
Nathan C.

  • How do I convert wmv files to play on iPhone?

Since Apple and NBC are beefin', and we all know life goes on, I still want to at least make an attempt to keep up with my shows this fall. Amazon offers downloads from NBC in wmv(how convenient, right?) but I know this format won't play on iPhone. What's this Dunder Mifflin nut gonna do now?

try downloading "Flip4Mac" (plays wmv on quicktime) and then export the clip(s) to your iphone. I have that the quality is not that great though on the phone. good luck

  • How do I get a 3ga audio file to play on iphone 4s?

How do I get a 3ga audio file to play on iphone
    4s?

You don't need to download an App.
My understanding is that you simply have to change the file extension from .3ga to.mp3 (on each file) and then they should play.
That said, it works on a Macbook Pro - I've just tried it.
    Not sure about iOS though.
Please reply if it works for you.

  • WMV File not playing in AIR (RH8)

I imported a wmv file as a baggage file and then TOC'd a blank page that would link to the video.  When I produce the .air file and try to kick-off the video, nothing happens.
I've also set up the wmv as a hyperlink from within a topic.  That also does not kick off when the hyperlink is clicked in the .air file.  However, if I do a File Preview (glasses) from my Robohelp 8 Project and try the hyperlink, it will open a Media Player window and play the video.
Why won't the wmv play when produced in AIR?

Hmm,  I am not sure that a .wmv can play in AIR at all.
As i understand it, the RH AIR module is:
    Flash player
    .pdf reader
Browser  (webkit not Windows IE based)
I have never heard that a .wmv file would play the Adobe flash. Where did you get that info?
I just Googled ".wmv file player"  and the all the results discuss the Windows Media Player!

  • WMV Files Not Playing In Powerpoint For Mac 2011 (Lion OS)?

    Hi guys!
I recently upgraded to Lion (and I think I like it) BUT I have been putting together a Power Point presentation for work (I'm a University Lecturer) and trying to embed some movies with no luck... I insert the files and go to play them, but all I get is audio. I have tried MOV, AVI, WMV, MP4, etc, etc... no joy. I have tried Flip 4 Mac, QuickTime and VLC... no joy. When I play the embedded file, no video, just audio!
Before I upgraded to Lion, it was esy... convert the clips, inset into PowerPoint, and away I go!
    HELP!!!

I suggest you post your question on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products, as it's their software you're having issues with:

  • I made Flip4Mac work on my intel iMac (plays wmv files)

I haven't seen this posted yet ... if it has been, sorry about being redundant.
    Here's what you do :
    - Download Flip4Mac ... it'll show up on your desktop.
    - Control-click on it and select "show package contents"
    - Double click on the "contents", then "Resources" folder
    - Then double click on "Flip4Mac Quicktime components.pkg" to install
    - Before you run quicktime ... do a "get info" on quicktime and check the open in roseta box.
Then run quicktime ... and it all works

Here are a couple more specifics to get wmv files to play on new iMac with Flip4mac:
After you've downloaded and installed Flip4Mac (and updgraded to Max OSX 10.4.5):
In your Applications folder: highlight QuickTime; go to "File" drop down menu and click "Get Info"; check the Rosetta box.
Then do the same thing in your Apps folder for Safari.
You then need to restart your computer. This is what worked for me. Thanks.

  • Playing WMV Files on Bionic

I transferred a movie to my phone but it just tells me there's an error cannot be displayed or played. How do you get WMV files to play on the Bionic?

use a 3rd party app. Its not that the bionic cant play them, its that the stock app does not play them. Theres alot of different players you can find on the market. I really like android phones because if the phone cant do something, changes are that someone made an app for it.

  • Downloading wmv file to disk

I have a link on a webpage which directly connects to a wmv file that i 'd like to download, for some reason this is not possible with windows media player (it's the first time i ever used a wind med pl)... how do i do that or do i use quicktime instead?
    thanks
    jazz

Unfortunately, not all WMV files will play in the Mac version of Windows Media Player. Also, some of them might have played but they are protected by MicroSofts Digital Rights Management. You could try the demo version of the $10 player from this outfit to see if can play it. If it will not play it you likely can't view it in MacOS.

  • Flip4Mac (WMV Files? --- iMovie?)

I know Flip4Mac allows WMV files to play in quicktime, but can you export them into iMovie as another file type?
How can I take a WMV movie and edit it using iMovie? or Is it not possible? (Remember I'm new at this....)
    -Thanks

Any help I can get with WMV files would be appreciated. This topic just really confuses me and the more that I read the more I seem to confuse myself.
Heres the main problem: The place that I am making a highlight film uses a PC and they do all their editing on it... I am starting to do more of the editing and I need to learn what my options are with my mac and wmv files.
When I attempt to open up [in quicktime on my macbook pro] the highlight film that was done on the PC, the files show up as: VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB... ? ---> Is there anyway to edit [using imovie] these files on my macbook pro? Do I need to save them a special way onto the disk from my PC? Is there software that I can buy to help me?
Remember that I'm new to this... Please don't give me a complicated answer...

  • Iphone play WMV files

IS there a way to get iphone to play wmv files? Do you have to change itunes if so how. I am a Windows xp user so it would seem odd, but I have a couple of videos I would like to have on my iphone to show people. I have searched the forums and can't find a decent answer. Thanks

Well bringing a file into iTunes will allow you to right click and choose convert. But depending on file type, may not get you what you want.
If you just have .WMV (or AVI, or MPG, etc) files on your computer and you want them converted to work with the iPhone, I would suggest this free converter.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPhone/
I have used it to convert home videos of my kids and have them on my iPhone now. That software will also add the converted movie directly into your iTunes library for you.

  • Playing WMV Files From An Email

If this has been posted previously, please forgive me for not finding it. Simply, how can I play a WMV video file attached to an email in iPhone 3Gs? Is there an app for that?!?!?!?

WMV is a closed/proprietary Microsoft standard.
In order to play WMV files on your Mac you need the Windows Media Components for QuickTime installed, which is not provided by Microsoft. Before this, Microsoft provided and supported a Windows a Windows Media Player app for OS X, which they no longer provide or support.
There will be no Windows Media Player app provided by Microsoft for the iPhone/iPod Touch and Flip4Mac, which provides and supports Windows Media Components for QuickTime on a Mac needs to provide the same for the iPhone and iPod Touch in order to play a WMV file on the iPhone, which they haven't done and not sure if they have any plans to do so or are able to do so.

  • Playing .wmv files on orig iPad

How can i play  .wmv files on my orig iPad?  Looks like video files with .wmv file types change to QuickTime, but, will not then open and play. Is there a work-around for this?  Thanks.

.WMV's are not natively supported, as they are a proprietary Microsoft format.
You will need to download a video player that supports them.
I like avplayerhd, but you can search the app store.

  • HT3775 What is required to play a .wmv file on a MAC OS X 10.6.8?

I have a MAC desktop with an MAC OS X 10.6.8 and have tried everything known to man to be able to play an .wmv file.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

Not all of Microsoft's codecs have been licensed to be ported to other platforms, so it's quite possible that you cannot play that WMV in Mac OS X, even though it does not contain DRM. You can try asking for assistance in the Flip4Mac forums:
    http://forum.telestream.net/forum/default.aspx?FTVAR_SUBCAT=5&NoCookies=y&subcat name=Flip4Mac%20WMV%20Components%20For%20QuickTime
and they may be able to help. Otherwise you'll probably have to use a Windows system, either on your Mac or another computer, to view that video.
