Microsoft Word 2011 won't Open in Yosemite
I have a problem with Word running under Yosemite. I have installed 14.4.5, reinstalled Office twice, and reinstalled the update. Excel and PowerPoint will run but Word still show me the word logo crashes and sends a report to Microsoft. Office setup will not open either.
I then I reformatted the disk again and started over with 10.6 then upgrades to Yosemite. then I have a network download version of office and did a new install. Word still won't open but the weird part is excel and PP work.
I have a 24 in iMac 2.66 GHz Intel

How can I convert a Microsoft Word 2004 file to Microsoft Word 2011? Most of the time the prompt says that the old Word is not supported anymore.
Go to the Microsoft web site and download it.

Microsoft Word 2010 won't open?
When I try to open my Microsoft Word 2010 a message comes up saying 'Microsoft Word 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in Control Panel.' However, when I go to the control panel Microsoft Word 2010 is no longer listed there. I've never
uninstalled or modified the file so I don't understand how it can just have disappeared??Was Word loaded as an individual product or part of the Office suite? In other words, do you have Excel 2010 and PowerPoint 2010 and do they open?
If Word was loaded as part of the Office suite then it will not be listed individually in the Control Panel. With
Control Panel > Programs and Features it will show as Microsoft Office <package> 2010.
Either way, it sounds like you need to just get the install CD and reload.
If you are then prompted to Repair you can do it that way, or simply Remove and then Install.
Hope this helps

I have a MacBook Pro now running 10.9.5
I updated last night to the 10.9.5 version and after doing so my iLife applications stop working: iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand
My Microsoft Word and Excel stop working as well.
Every time i try to open these applications i get error and they just won't open.
" iPhoto quit unexpectedly wile using the iPhoto plug-in"
I get this same message for all my applications.
I tried getting help from Apple and all they really told me was that I may need to update to my iPhoto by paying $15 bucks.
I'm upset that my applications have all failed me only after updating to new 10.9.5
This update was done at 10:30PM, all day my Microsoft Apps and iPhoto app were working fine and now I'm out of luck?iLife 11 is only available thru 3rd party retailers like Amazon.com or eBay.com. That will install iPhoto 9.0 and you can get to 9.4.3 vis these updaters:
1 - update to iPhoto 9.2.1 - you may be able to go from here directly to 9.4.3
2 - update to iPhoto 9.3
3 - update to iPhoto 9.3.2
4 - update to iPhoto 9.4
5 - and finally to iPhoto 9.4.3 -
Mirosoft word 2011 won't open in mountain lion
I cant check for an update. It fails before opening.
v14.2.3 is the latest update for ML per Microsoft.
Something got stepped on. If you have a DVD of MS Office for Mac 2011, then see if you can run the uninstaller to remove your installed Office from Mountain Lion.
Within your home folder, move all the files in Library/Caches to the Trash.
Then in the Library/Preferences folder, look for files that start with com.microsoft.Word and Trash them.
Reboot.
Empty the Trash
Now re-install MS Office 2011 for Mac.
Update your Microsoft Updater application from www.microsoft.com/mac.
Then, use Microsoft Updater to upgrade Office to v14.2.3.

Microsoft Word 2004 won't open in Leopard
I downloaded Leopard and everything went well and I used Microsoft Word a few times, then suddenly it won't open anymore.
I'm not sure if I downloaded something that's incompatible with it? Or something else happened? It won't let me update it and when I try to open it the words "The application Word quit unexpectedly" appear almost immediately. I checked my permissions, I checked the hard drive, but couldn't find the root of the problem.
Someone please help! How did you "download" Leopard since it is not available that way? You have to buy Leopard unless it came installed on your hardware when you purchased it.
After you did the Leopard update did you update Office to the latest version? If not use the Auto update feature built in to it and download and install all the updates. It does them one at a time so you may have to do 5-6 downloads to get them all.
If that does not work then I would uninstall Office using the uninstaller that is on the CD and reinstall it then bring it up to date. -

Your MS Office 2011 may have become corrupted. Reinstalling Office 2011 can address problems that you may be experiencing.
The current version of Office 2011 is 14.4.8. You might try reinstalling MS Office 2011
First - find your Office 2011 install disc with the product key # - and only then remove Office according to MS instructions
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768
Or go here to DianefromOregon's site for help removing Office 2011:
http://www.officeformachelp.com/2012/12/office-for-mac-2011-remove-office/
Then Reinstall from DVD
Then enter your Product #
After successfully reinstalling Office 2011, update your Office product using the Software update within Office called Microsoft Update or going to the Help menu within Word or Excel or PowerPoint and select Update.
It may take a few times before you get to final upgrade to current Office version.
It should be 14.4.8 as of current date.

When I try and open Microsoft Word 2011 documents on my IMAC they start opening one after another at a rapid speed and I can't stop it. I reboot and same thing happens. The documents open in rapid succession on their own and don't stop until I force close or after maybe 100 or more open I start getting the following message for each document attemting to open "This document could not be registered. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to this document" and then in paretheses the name of the document. After I click okay another trys to open. Any suggestions?
If you had multiple documents open and quit the app without closing all of the docs first, it will open them again when you launch the app. Open Word, and then close all the documents, you may be asked to save the document, if the document was already saved but you made changes to it before you quit the app, you may need to save the changes first, shorcut ( command and s keys). After you close all of the documents then quit the app and restart the computer. See if this works.

Can't Open Microsoft Word 2011 on my Mac it crashes
I am hoping someone can help me. I can not open microsoft word 2011 on my mac book air (maverick operating system).
The problem actually did not happen until apple care helped me get rid of some malaware on my mac.
However as I google the problem and it seems to be something happening to a lot of people. I went thorough many forums and tried everything suggested (ie http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macexcel/microsoft-excel-has-encountered-a-problem-and/222d7f46-a092-4d8d-8f9d-e48c8a1a90ec?tab=MoreHelp)
I also restored the fonts and used another account user and it still does not work.
Does anyone have a suggestion. I am about to give up and use pages because I do not know what to do, I am stumped.

Microsoft Office 2011 won't work with Mountain Lion update
I have an early 2011 version Macbook Pro. Until yesterday I have been running Lion, I updated to Mountain Lion last night and now my Microsoft Office 2011 won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?
When I try to open any MS Office program or file I get an error message that reads "Microsoft Office cannot open because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft (Outlook, Word etc.) works with this version of OS X you may need to reinstall the application..." the problem is I bought this Mac used and I don't have the disc to reinstall the application. I've gone to the MS Office 2011 Mac website and downloaded a service pack and an update (the only two things available to me) but that still doesn't help. Where would I find the update you are describing?

I recently updated my operating system to Mountain Lion. I've noticed that I am unable to open up Microsoft Word 2011 since the update. All of the other components of Office 2011 for Mac (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) open and function normally. I also continue to recieve the message I've insterted above, stating that I check with the developer to make sure this version of Microsoft Office is compatible with this version of OS X. Any suggestions on fixing this?
Have you checked for updates for Word?
How about in another account?
If it works in another account, you can try moving the Microsoft User Data folder out of your Documents folder (don't delete it, just move to someplace like the Desktop) and then open Word. If that works, then there is something in your User Data folder.
If it doesn't work in another account, then it is likely something in your system that is interfering. -
