Microsoft Word Excel and Lion
Why won't word and excel open in lion?
What version do you have? Only 2008 and 2011 will work, since the previous versions were compiled for PowerPC, and Lion dropped support for PowerPC apps.

I just updated to Lion and my Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint will not open because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. I bought this software from Apple and the store installed it when I bought the MAC. What do I do?
Buy version 2011 of MS Office.
Or you can download OpenOffice, LibreOffice or NeoOffice, which all come very close to working with MS files just like MS Office does.
Or iWord, I have heard, you can purchase. -
I currently use Snow Leopard with Microsoft Word, Excel and Entourage on my iMac. If I upgrade to Mavericks, can I still use those applications?
If the Microsoft Office is 2004 then no.
Mavericks System requirements.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5842
Note I would recommend a minimum of 4GB RAM.
You need to check all you software and hardware including any peripherlas you use, printers etc that they are compatible with Mavericks.
Any software that is PPC and uses Rossetta will not work with any OS X verson later than 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
If you decide to upgrade have a tested backup of your current system in case of problems and you could return the computer to its previous configuration. -
After installing Mountain Lion, my mocrosoft word, excel, and power point programs are no longer supported or accessable. Help!
Upgrade to Office 2008 or better, or switch to a product such as OpenOffice.

How do use iCloud with Microsoft word, excel and power point? are they compatible

The kernel failure panic kind of message points to some other activity;
as such, it may be there could be a conflict in some applications; as a
logical failure is indicated by the first part of the message content.
Whether or not any common kernel panic resolution ideas could work
in regard to the trigger of this action, is another matter & unresolved.
Reading and understanding the resulting logs is part of this resolution;
the following link has information on these kinds of issues in general.
Technical Note TN2063: Understanding and Debugging Kernel Panics
http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn2002/tn2063.html
Resolving Kernel Panics:
http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
If there were more, perhaps from another error log in the system, to
point to other contributing factors in the cause of this action & report,
some course of correction could be indicated; should that involve a
reinstall of certain programs (and their update files, as Office has) or
perhaps removing other seldom used applications if they were proven
to be part of conflict in the system, with Office triggering its appearance.
Some troubleshooting of this issue may point to some course of action
and if the problem is only software-based, then it may involve testing
or moving, or reinstalling some applications. There is a chance, too,
that something else may be acting up at a low-level of the system. If
that were the case, sometimes a re-install of the system on a wiped
and zeroed drive would be a path to consider to test or resolve this.
But only after other things have been tried. If you have a full backup
of the computer's contents on a bootable external drive, that would be
a means of testing the computer itself.
Good luck & happy computing! -
If I buy the templates for Microsoft Office on the app store, I will get Word, Excel, and Powerpoint right?
Templates are just that, not the software itself. You need to contact MicroSoft online to purchase, or buy a DVD to install from...be sure to get MS Office 2011 to install with Lion or Mountain Lion, older versions than 2008 will not work.

Does 'versions' work with microsoft word, ppt and excel or just pages, keynote and numbers? I tried to do what the videos say but the little icon for versions is not there on word. Does this mean it only works for pages etc... or do i have to activate it somehow? If it is only for pages then this ***** and should be better advertised!!!
Each application will need to be updated to work with Versions, Full Screen, and other Lion-specific features.

I just installed Lion to my Powerbook that I purchased in October 2010. My Microsoft Word documents no longer open and my Mac version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint no longer work. What can I do to open all old documents?
Upgrade to Office 2011.
You must be running Office 2004, which was designed to run on PowerPC Macs.
PowerPC apps would run via "Rosetta" on Snow Leopard, but with Lion, Apple has finally pulled the plug on PowerPC apps. -
Can I view, edit and save microsoft documents such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint using iWork applications such as Pages, Keynote and Numbers on my iPad Mini (16GB Wi-Fi)? If Yes, then can I directly load these files to my iPad mini using iTunes? Also, once I finish working on these documents, can I download these back to my Computer.
Sorry, forgot to say:
Thank you so much to EVERYBODY/ANYBODY who may reply with helpful information,
Bob :) :) :) -
My computer had to be restored at the apple store. When they did it my Microsoft word, powerpoint, and excel were all deleted! How can I get them back? Who do I talk to, Apple or Microsoft?
you are responsible for reinstalling any apps. It is not Apples responsibility as outline the the service agreement. Do you have the product key?

My Word, Excel, and powerpoint won't work with mountain lion
My Word, Excel, and powerpoint won't work with mountain lion.
Just upgraded, and my icons are question marks. Is the upgrade free? That depends, if you have a more recent version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint, then probably yes, but if not, nope, it'll cost you. Try M$ (micro$oft for that). However, might I suggest, humbly, that you try OpenOffice or NeoOffice. I used it to open up a powerpoint presentation and it did fine, plus the price is right

Downloaded Mountain Lion and lost support for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Downloaded Mountain Lion and lost support for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Anyone know how to get it back?
Odds are you running Office 2004, which is coded in PowerPC code. PowerPC is no longer supported.
You either must upgrade the newer version of Office that will work or downgrade OS X.

Microsoft word in mountain lion x
i've just installed mountain lion and microsoft word, powerpoint and excel are not working anymore, why is that?
Your MS Office may be a Power PC App which is not compatible with ML.
Hold the Option Key and go to the Apple Menu/System Information/Software/Applications. Find the Applications then Kind. If it says Power PC you will need to upgrade.

IMovie09 - cool features, horrible video output - very disappointed.
I ran out the other day and bought iLife09, ONLY to get iMovie09. I wanted to use the stabilization feature of it, and after I saw some of the pretty cool new features (map, globe, etc), I loved it. Spent 16 hours over 2 days building a nice cool 45
