Microsoft word issue

Hello everyone,
I have one small bug with the latest version of microsoft word 2011 on OS X leopard. Sometimes when I have already opened a document and that I want to change the font color, my computer freezes for several minutes, until it defreezes and the color palette is not visible. Usually when I open the color palette on a blank document immidiately after having created it, there is no problem.
It is actually quite annoying because sometimes i forget it and am unable to work for several minutes.
Does anybody know why is this happening?

Disk full microsoft word issue

Hi,
I'm an Electrical engineer student currently writing my dissertation. I have a 1Tb harddrive which currently has 734Gb available yet I often get this message. I hav been keeping three copies to ensure nothing is lost, time machine, dropboax and the mac harddrive. This is time consuming ensuring all copies are up to date and it is time to sort this problem before I loose some work. I believe its Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac and its a student copy not that it should be of any relevance. I have included any information that may be of use below

Issues with Microsoft Word for mac closing when I try to open old or newly downloaded documents

When I download a document from my professor, or try to open an older document, my word automatically quits. If it's already closed and I try to open a document, it will show the dot at the bottom of the icon that it's loading to open but it quickly disappears and quits itself. Is anyone else experiencing this issue or know what I can do to fix it? Thanks.

Importing Microsoft Word doc to InDesign with embedded EPS art ~ scaling issue

Hi, my workflow calls for creating content in Microsoft Word 2010 with embedded EPS art, in this case MathType 6.7a math objects. When I import these manuscripts (after saving as Word 97/2003 format) into my Adobe InDesign CS5.5 templates, the embedded inline graphics have been resized. Strangely, InDesign is keeping the container frame at the correct dimensions and then upsizing or downsizing the art inside that box.
When I export a sample graphic from the Word file and unembed the same graphic after import it into InDesign, the two graphics are different sizes. InDesign might increase the size of one embedded graphic by 400% and then scale it down to 25% inside the anchored picture box and then in the next anchored picture box it might decrease the size the art to 50% and scale it to 200%.
I did a test and created a graphic in Adobe Illustrator, saved it as EPS, placed the graphic into a Microsoft Word 2010 document, saved it out to 97/2003 format, imported that doc into an empty Adobe InDesign CS5.5 file. Again! InDesign changed the size of the art and re-scaled it to appear the same.
I've been able to duplicate this issue on InDesign CS4 also, on both Windows XP and Windows 7.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Does anyone know why the InDesign import filter doesn't import inline art in a Word document at 100%? Thanks for the help!

My solution for this is:
1. Place *.docx (yes, docx) word document with mathtype equations into indesign. This will set correct baseline for equations which is very important.
2. download this scalegraphics script http://in-tools.com/downloads/indesign/scripts/ScaleGraphics.zip
3. copy script from zip folder to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Scripts\Scripts Panel\Samples\JavaScript
4. open palet (window/autoamtion/scripts) scripts, find new sript and run it

In links palete equations have eps extension but this is embeded wmf files so you cant open them in photoshop or distill it with distiller.-((( I use export to pdf option in indesign to make pdf file.
If you want all this eps links to export from indesign use this method:
1. in links palete select all links
2. in palete menu choose "unembed link"
3. on answer window choose "no"
4. select folder where you want indesign save files
5. press "select"
6. now you have all links in new folder unembed from indesign document and you can edit it with mathtype.

Preview Pane issue for Microsoft Word 2010

This issue came up from our customer. Please find the details below.
OS : Windows 7 Enterprise SP1
Microsoft office professional Plus 2010
Issue : When previewing files in Windows explorer, the "Down Arrow" key, when pressed, navigates from one file to another (expected behavior). In between, if we have a Word file of multiple pages, the key stroke is shifted to Preview pane. The
pages in the word file (@ preview pane) starts scrolling down.
This is not the case, when you have Microsoft word running at the background. When I tried the same, after opening Microsoft word, the "Down Arrow" key navigates from one word file to another (as expected).
Why is this happening? Kindly suggest.

Microsoft Word 2008 top menu bar changed to chinese - ISSUE

After opening a MSfile the Leopard top menu when using Microsoft Word 2008 has been changed to Chinesse. This issue only happen with this product and not with the rest of the Microsoft tools that I have installed in my MacBook (example: Powerpoint). I'm including a print screen (as you can see only the iOS menu is changed to chinesse and not the software menu). I extremely need to change it back to English!

Never heard of something like that. AFAIK, Office 2008 distributions do not contain localisation resources, so there would be no way for (US) Word to display menus in Chinese. Maybe you have a multi-lingual version? Check what's available in the Microsoft Language Register, although I was under the impression that it did not affect menu display. And… are you sure it's Word 2008 and not 2011?
Btw, an unrelated issue. Did you recently open a Word doc having to do with Tibet?

Why not? Are there error messages? Where are the files located? Why are you deleting MicroSoft Word files?

Exporting issues from PDF to Microsoft Word

I have a user that received a PDF document that was originally created with InDesign CS3. She wants to make changes to that document, but we don't have InDesign CS3, trying to use the Export to Word function instead. When we go to export the PDF into Microsoft Word, most of the document doesn't export, and in my case, Word crashes every time I try to open.
My only question is this. Is that expected behavior? And if so, she'd need to get InDesign CS3 to make her changes?

Probably. There are many things that can be done in InDesign that can't be replicated in Word. That could be part of the issue.

That wold be the recommended way yes. The PDF is a final product. You should always make edits to the original document rather than the PDF.

Has anyone had issues with Microsoft Word or Excel requiring a set-up after software udates? I do not have product key, so unable to set up again.

This laptop has original Microsoft word & excel provided by Mac when purchased and is legal copy.
Do I understand you bought a Mac and it came with Microsoft Office? I could be wrong, but I wasn't aware that was an option. Or am I not parsing that sentence correctly and you bought a Mac and bought a legal copy of Office to install on it? In which case, never mind.

Opening Microsoft Word Documents on Mac Issues

As a graphics professional I have to occasionally open client's Microsoft Word files and convert to something printable.
I have a late Mac with up-to-date Mountain Lion and the latest MS Word and a vast collection of OpenType fonts... but no Word document from a client opens to look like it is supposed to, with fonts replaced, type overflows, images moved and more. If I open it in Pages it's still a mess. If I open the document on my Windows PC it's fine.
Am I missing something that would make opening a MS Word document on my Mac work reliably?

Besides Csound1's useless information which is true that Word for Mac isn't up to par compared to the Windows version. The formatting used in the Windows version is different than what is used for Mac so the fonts and format which will obviously will look different. This is not a OS problem but a application issue so your best option is to go to Microsoft Office for Mac Support page http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac

Microsoft Word 2011 Saving Issues

Every 10 minutes or so, while I'm working on a document in Microsoft word, I get the following pop-up message/prompt "Word cannot complete the operation becuase too many files are open. (word work file A_1734368074.asd)" and then "word is unable to save the autorecover file in the location you have specified. Make sure that you have specified a valid location for autorecover files in preferences, and that you have permission to write files to the location you specified". My version of word at the moment is 14.4.3. I would really appreciate any help I receive in trying to resolve this issue.

Arabic Fonts issue in Microsoft Word 2013

Dears ,
I am facing an issue with some arabic fonts like ( Al-Mohanad & Al-Mohanad Bold ) which I belive they are not supported in Word 2013 .
when I type in microsoft word using these fonts an empty boxes appear in the document !! but it will not appear after I print the document .
I really appreciate who assist me regarding this matter .

Which language version did you use? English Office version or Arabic Office version? According to your description, the Al-Mohanad & Al-Mohanad Bold font displayed correctly in Word file.
Please copy the Al-Mohanad & Al-Mohanad Bold font to Notepad and print it to test.
If it also can not print from Notepad, I recommend you upgrade the printer driver.
If it prints well from Notepad, please try to change a font in Word to print. We can look for free fonts, shareware fonts, or commercial fonts, go to the following Microsoft typography website:

Microsoft Office 2004 (Word Issues)

Ever since I installed Leopard, Microsoft Word is acting peculiar.
Specifically, I have come across 2 things that never happened to me before.
1)Some misspelled words are not showing up as misspelled, they are not being auto-corrected or given a red line as I type nor are they detected when I manually run spell check.
2)When I put something in quotations. The opening quotes are aligned on the bottom instead of the top!?
I checked my spell check prefs and everything looks fine. Very weird.
*Anyone else experiencing this?????*

In all honesty, I have had nothing but Office problems since the 10.4.10 update -- I got rid of them a while back and have been using Pages with no problems at all. After getting used to it, it is faster and more intuitive than Word. iWork runs perfectly under Leopard.
There have been consistent problems reported with MS Office after the Leopard update in all of the forums I visit daily.

When you open a Word document in Pages, it is translated into the internal .pages document format — and you are no longer working in the original Word document format. This translation also occurs in reverse when exporting a document back to Word. When you open a Word document in Pages, if it has issues with the translation (missing font characteristics, other issues), it will open a warning dialog box and display these issues for you.
If however, you prefer to always work in the native Word document format, and not risk translation issues, then you should be using MS Word in Office for Mac 2011 with the latest update.
