Microsoft Word Office 2012 wont open
Hello I purchased my computer with Office 2010 in May 2010. It works great and everything but recently when I am on the internet and click a file to open and/or download it ask me to enter my product key. I never had to install that before because it came
with my computer. When I go to the Start menu, Program features and Office 2010 it only gives the option to uninstall not repair. For me to get my files I have to save it to my computer, go to the start menu and launch Microsoft Word and then find it in the
Open tab. Please help this is pretty annoying.
Hi
Did you mean your Word program works well when you go to Start>Microsoft Word and launch the program?
If it is true, there might be something wrong with your default open program.
First locate your Office installation path, and find winword.exe.
Right click on the file, Open with>Select default program>Look for another app on this computer go to the right path and select the winword.exe. Remember to check the option: Use this program for all doc/docx files.

If you have Office does Excell or Power Point open? If they do you can perhaps check for updates with either of them: Help > Check for Updates. You can also try to reinstall Office with your installation disks. Don't delete Office, just try to install it again. -
Microsoft Word 2010 won't open?
When I try to open my Microsoft Word 2010 a message comes up saying 'Microsoft Word 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in Control Panel.' However, when I go to the control panel Microsoft Word 2010 is no longer listed there. I've never
uninstalled or modified the file so I don't understand how it can just have disappeared??Was Word loaded as an individual product or part of the Office suite? In other words, do you have Excel 2010 and PowerPoint 2010 and do they open?
If Word was loaded as part of the Office suite then it will not be listed individually in the Control Panel. With
Control Panel > Programs and Features it will show as Microsoft Office <package> 2010.
Either way, it sounds like you need to just get the install CD and reload.
If you are then prompted to Repair you can do it that way, or simply Remove and then Install.
Hope this helps

When I save a document in Microsoft Word 2010 and then open it, I am unable to read it
When I save a document in Microsoft Word 2010 and then open it, I am unable to read it because it is gibberish with all kinds of symbols and numbers. I understand it has something to do with Adobe Reader. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I correct it?
Put your cursor on the icon of one of your scanned documents. Click on the right button of your mouse. In the list that will appear, put your cursor on Properties and click on the left button of your mouse. In the window that you'll get, read and make a note of what you see next to "File type" and "Opens with". Then post here what you saw.
If you don't understand these instructions, please ask for more details. -
I am unable to open my documents... "The application "Microsoft Word" can't be opened. What is going on?
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion). While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Workarounds:
1. If your Mac will support it, revert back to your older OS X;
2. If your Mac will support it, either partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) to allow for a "dual-boot" system;
3. Upgrade your PowerPC software or use an alternative programs; or
4. The solution I use: Install Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) into Parallels 7 or 8:
Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps. -
The application Microsoft Word can't be opened - 1712
Now, suddenly, I cannot open it, or read/create any files, even though I can see the documents in my folders, and the light under the Icon is lit on the dock. When I open my Applications Folder, Word is shown as in there, but when I clicked on it, I saw the following pop up (error message?): The application Microsoft Word can't be opened - 1712. I have no idea how this happened, but I'm hoping that someone can tell me what to do about it. Any advice will be appreciated.
You really should be asking this question on the MS Word forums.

Suggest also that you tell us what version of Mac OS X you are running and what version of MS Word. -

You know when you open an application or software such as safari or iPhoto, there's that little dot under it on dock. Yeah that, this does not shows to the Chrome and Microsoft Word..
This is really annoying because all my bookmarks are in Chrome and I need M. Word to do my homework.
My Macbook Pro is OS X Yosemite, it is the 10.10.2 version

Microsoft for mac 08 wont open
ok....there's been a slight problem that's been annoying me for a while. i did an update for word 08, and ever since then, when i try to open word, this stupid customer experience improvement program thing pops up. i've said no, didn't open word. i said yes, and it still wont open!! and it asks for updates to every single time i open it, when i clearly tell it not to, and it STILL wont open word. so basically i can't open word whatsoever. help?? and same goes for powerpoint, excel, etc.. they all wont open!
Message was edited by: st3phani3Since Office is not an Apple product, you should really consider posting your question on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products, as they would be more focused on the issue than an Apple forum:

Please help. I can no longer open & create new documentsAre you using Office 2004 and did you install the recent security update? If so then open Software Update and download and install the new security update version which should fix the issue.

The first message I got referred to the Font Library, so I removed duplicate fonts and removed the Microsoft folder from Library > Application Support based on a thread I read elsewhere.
Can anyone helo?Uninstall Office for Mac 2011, and then reinstall it. Apply the latest Office 14.4.8 update. Use Disk Utility to verify/repair permissions on your boot drive. Revisit any duplicate fonts in Font Book. Reboot Mac into Safe Boot mode to rebuild system font cache.
