Microsoft Word Starter 2010 problem

When I am trying to open Microsoft Word Starter 2010 it appears as if it has frozen, then it responds as if it is going to open (it shows 'processing') then it says "Microsoft Word Starter 2010 cannot be opened. Try again or repair the product in
control panel." What is happening? What do I do?

  • Microsoft Click to Run won't open Microsoft Word Starter 2010

The error message says it cannot open Microsoft Word Starter 2010 to try again or to repair in Control Panel.  I have no idea how to repair it.  Any suggestions?
I am running Windows 7 Home with an HP 2000 notebook pc.  64 bit Operating System.
    Thanks

Thanks for the response - I'll keep a note of that forum for any future problems I may have.
I've come up with my own workaround for the problem though.
It seems that new documents I create on the Mac work just fine in Windows. So I simply created a blank document on the Mac, set up the document margins etc to match the edited document I was having trouble with and copied the entire contents over. Worked a treat. Must have been the way it was created in the first place.

  • My Microsoft Word Starter 2010 will not open

My Microsoft Word Starter 2010 will not open at all. Every single time I click on the icon in the start menu or on the desktop, this window opens and says "Click to Run Configuration Failure". What does that mean. Why won't it open? Please help
me, before I start uninstalling things in my control panel.

    Hi,
When you see the error "Click to Run Configuration Failure", please try a repair of the install from Control Panel -> Programs and Features:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/update-repair-or-uninstall-office-click-to-run-products-HA010382089.aspx
Or we should re-associate Office file, such as .docx file:
    1. Open Default Programs from Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs.
    2. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
    3. Click .docx file type.
    4. Click Change program.
    5. Choose Microsoft Word as default program.
    6. Click OK.
Moreover, if the steps above don't help, you can also refer to this link, whose solution has helped some users:

  • Word Starter 2010 not recognized when opening DOCX documents

When I use Word Starter 2010 to create documents (as .docx) the documents do not recognize Word Starter as the originating application. It is necessary to open Word Starter and then open the .docx document from within Word Starter. I tried to associate
Word Starter with the document type using the default program tab in the control panel, however default program does not find Word Starter application. Also having problem with Windows Live Mail where mail with .docx attachments are rejected as dangerous file
types. Running System 7, current on updates - any suggestions??

These problems were caused by a recent Windows update. Try repairing Office (via Programs & Features > Microsoft Office > Change in the Windows Control Panel).

Thanks for your help!!!  Going into Control Panel and doing the repair seems to fixed the problem for me.  I realize that it is not your fault that it was broken.   However I have to ask, if Microsoft knew that their Windows update broke certain
functions or features in Office, then why didn't Microsoft fix the problem rather than having a whole lot of pissed off users who don't understand why Office isn't working anymore?  It would have saved me 90 minutes of looking for solutions (or buying
one of the "recommended" Office packages--maybe that is why MS is not fixing the problem they created).

  • Microsoft Word Starter to PDF - Font spaces change

I've been applying for jobs, so for each company I apply for I've been making adjustments to my cover letter in Microsoft Word Starter and coverting them to a pdf.
After it converts the spaces in the words shrink, and the spaces between words grows. It makes it harder to read and looks messy. Some days I find this happends, other days it doesn't and I can't figure out why. The image below shows and Old copy of when it coverted correctly. The New version is my problem.
Anyone know how to fix this?

It looks like a kerning issue.  My suggestion would be to highlight your text, copy it, delete it, and then paste special - unformatted text.   It  might work.  It's    worth a try.

  • Repair of Word Starter 2010

I was not able to open MS word or MS excel and I was asked to repair Word Start 2010 in the control panel.  I went to the control panel, click on MS Office Word Starter 2010 and right click "change".  However, the repair did not start and I got
a message that I do not have internet connection.  Internet connection is already on and I do not know why I get this error message (as I was able to access the internet- like now). THanks

    Hi,
Please try to turn off Anti-virus scanner test if it helps.
If you have both Cable and Wireless, please set Cable connection as default.
If Word Starter 2010 or Excel Starter 2010 cannot be opened, uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010:
Click Start (or Start > Run in
    Windows XP).
Type appwiz.cpl, and then press Enter.
Before going any further, make sure you see Microsoft Office 2010 in
the list of installed programs. You'll need to use this program later to reinstall Office Starter 2010 on the computer.
Click Microsoft Office Starter 2010, and then click Uninstall (or Remove in
    Windows XP).
Click Yes and follow the instructions
    to uninstall Office Starter 2010.
To reinstall Office Starter 2010, click Start > All
    Programs > Microsoft Office 2010.
    Click Use.
And then click Open. This will re-install Office Starter 2010.
If the error continues to occur, you may have to do a full restore of the computer to reinstall Microsoft Office Starter 2010. We recommend you contact the computer manufacturer to talk about your options before you do this.

  • Acrobat X will not convert Microsoft Word Starter docs to PDFs.

I am using Acrobat X with the latest updates on Windows 7 Home Premium. I have 177 separate files created with Windows Word Starter 2010. I want to merge all 177 files into a single PDF. I've tried merging the entire group of files. I've tried merging 2 or three at a time. I've tried converting one single file to PDF.  Each time I get the same result; Acrobat begins to process and read the document and then continues to read the document for many minutes without progress. In addition, if I quit the process or quit Acrobat I must reboot my system in order to relaunch Acrobat. Suggestions?

I suspect you need Word, not Word Starter. Never seen it mentioned before. But you can print to Adobe PDF from Word Starter to convert each file.

  • Word Starter access problem

After installing Adobe Reader XI, I can no longer open document files that were generated in Word Starter and Excel Starter.  What can I do?

When I try to open my files via SyncUp, a message comes up that says I do not have the software needed to open the file. It then asks if I want to purchase Microsoft Word. This did not happen before I installed Adobe XI. Interestingly enough, the icons used to be the Word icon--blue with a W. The icons are now orange with no letters/writing,.
I can, however, go into the Microsoft Word Starter program and open the file. But this is not optimum because this is simply a laundry list of every word document I have.

  • Word Starter 2010 for MacBook Air 13"

Does Word Starter 2010 come with the MacBook Air 13"?

No. There is no version of Word included with a Mac purchase. Pages is free for Macs purchased after October 1, 2013. Having said that after trying to use it for over a year, I gave up and went with Open Office. Another free alternative that is very powerful and closer to Word in features is http://www.libreoffice.org

  • MS Word Starter 2010 continually asks for product key yet keeps closing.

When I try to open the free pre-installed MS Word Starter on my PC I am prompted to enter my 25 character product key. After doing this a I receive ‘Your product key is valid’ on pressing the ‘Continue’ button MS starter opens yet three seconds later the
same box appears prompting me to  enter my product key again. On entering the product key again I receive a further confirmation my key is valid. On pressing ‘Continue’ the box closes yet so does MS Starter 2010.
It used to work when the PC was new.
I have run ‘Repair’ MS Starter and ‘Repair’ MS Office 2010
The same happens with MS Exel starter.
I use MS Word 2010 day to day which works fine.

    Hi George.
    George.
No I probably did not uninstall it from the old computer and that machine
    was scrapped some years back.
Just to recap, I use Word 2010 and Excel 2010 every day and they work OK.
As I understand it these programmes, Excel & Word 2010, is what I got from
downloading the MS Student & Teachers discs?
So in my limited understanding, as they both work OK, I don't appear to have
a problem with the  license being used twice. Do I understand that
    correctly?
My problem is that on the rare occasions I decide to dip into the  MS
Starter Programmes, a window appears asking for  a product key. When I enter the
key for the MS Student and Teachers disc it says its valid, Word Starter opens,
the box asking for the product key appears again and when entered  both windows
close.  I don't quite understand why It asks for a product key for something
    factory pre-loaded?

  • Microsoft Word OS X Problem with Yosemite

I've been having this problem on my Mac for a while now. To work on a Debate Project in school, I have to open documents with Word. I expected this not to be a problem but when I try to open it up, it says exactly "Microsoft Word cannot be opened because of a problem." (Then in smaller font), "Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft Word works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."
The current OS X software I am running is OS X Yosemite Version 10.10. The iMac I'm using it one is a 27-inch from Late 2009 and has a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and 4 GB 1067 MHZ DDR3 in Memory.
If you know even slightly anything to do about this, your input would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I don't think this is a Yosemite issue if you have been having it for a while. My instant guess would be that you may have more than one copy of Word on the Machine. I assume you can open Word and then use file open to open such files. If you are able to do that then search to see if you have an old copy of MS office on your machine that no longer works and bin it(don't bin the one that works).

  • Formatting Numbers with BPC NW 10.0 SP19 1 in Microsoft Word & PowerPoint 2010

    Dear BPC Experts,
We are trying to use the BPC Add-in for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; however, we cannot figure out how to get the numbers in a report properly formatted.
I created a report directly in Word:
Then, on the EPM Ribbon I attempted to go to Options>Document Options and use the Formatting tab Number Format field and received the popup:
    Error details:
I Copied a report from the Excel Add-in Report Actions>Copy Report to PowerPoint Report Actions>Paste Report but the number formatting is lost and I get the same error as with Word if I attempt to use Options>Presentation Options.
Any assistance with number formatting with the Word or PowerPoint Add-ins would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Lisa

    Hello Lisa,
Its simply saying that the both formats are different so its unable to apply the formatting.
in order to apply formatting in Word we have a special tab Design.
first create a report and then next go to design tab and choose any one of the default formatting table.
the formatting should be vary dynamically. please see the below images as reference.
Before formatting report looks like this
After Formatting by using design tab
    Dynamic expansion
I feel its little bit difficult when compared to excel...

  • Microsoft Word Footnote Numbering Problems

I have a long manuscript that's been edited. It's in MS Word 2004, although I've tried converting to the latest Word and that didn't help.
If I edit out a section that includes a note, my footnote/endnote numbering goes wrong. If I take out note #6, I cannot have a note 6 and so the notes go from 5 to 7. Microsoft's Mac help is worthless. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried changing symbols, etc. I've deleted whole sections thinking there's something hidden, etc.
    Thanks in advance.
