my microsoft word will not open. when i click it, it says microsoft word cannot be opened because of a problem. then goes on saying, check with the developer to make sure microsoft word works with this verson of Mac OS X. i would like to find out how i can fix it myself if its possible. can anyone help?

so i figured out i had to re put word into the microsoft office 2011 folder. but now when i click word it begins to start up but another window pops up saying, microsoft word has encountered a problem and needs to close. the details for it are:

My microsoft word will not open, my microsoft word will not open

Help I just downloadedMountain Lion, then went to open Microsoft Word and Powerpoint and it won't open.

Hopefully you did a search before posting a new thread on this problem. A few people have been having issues with Word, and it's sometimes related to not having Office updated properly before upgrading. It may also be third-party configs making the Office setup screwy. I can attest that a fresh install of Office 2008 works fine under ML.

Do a Get Info (command - I) on a docx document, unlock the padlock, and change the open with to Microsoft Word. Then click change all.

Are you using any MS Office third party Add-ins? Test: Remove third party Add-ins other than PDFMaker. Test to see if the MS Office apps run afterward.
Did you attempt to repair MS Office? Test: Go to Add/Remove Control Panel run Repair.
Finally, have you tried testing to see if it's PDFMaker? Test: Use the Add/Remove Control Panel to modify the Acrobat installation to remove PDFMaker. See if MS Office applications launch and behave correctly?

Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar.
Log In and launch Word.
Still failing...
If Word failed to launch in Guest, then you need to re-install Office.

Important to restart after each updater.

my memory is been nearly used up, I have withdrawn 2 GB of archives so that I can continue using my machine, as I am down in Brasil and yet could not find more memory, so I have asked a friend of mine who lives in London to buy me 5 GB more. But as I have done that, once I tried to open an archive, it didn't do so, & I got the 1712 message - I thought of re-iniciating the PC, but I just have a big work document down at the dock, which I cannot loose. I am afraid that if I re-start the Pc I wil loose the document. So I need a way to get the document out of the dock to a file, before I re-start my machine.

My Macbook with 10.6.8 is having trouble with certain applications- Word will not open, and text edit or pdf will not print.

My Macbook (13 inch 2008) running OS 10.6.8 is having trouble with some applications. Word will not even open. I cannot print from text edit or Preview or Adobe. Excel sometimes opens but very slow. What could be wrong? I have repaired permissions, used an antivirus program, deleted some old MS fonts, and still no change. I have 1 G RAM and there seems to be plenty available and I have 50 G of hard drive space empty.

Well, first 1gb of Ram is not plenty. It's the absolute bare minimum just to run OS X 10.6.8. The MS Office applications are ram hogs also. I would recommend three things.
1. Get more ram.
2. Reinstall and update your MS Office applications.
3. Reinstall Snow Leopard.
If you're not familiar with Activity Monitor you might have a look at this link and you'll be able to judge your ram situation a little better.

With new PC RoboHelp for Word will not open

When I try to open RoboHelp for Word, this error message
appears:
"The version of Microsoft Word you have installed is not
supported. Please install an earlier version of Word before running
RoboHelp for Word."
With this new PC installation, I'm still using Word 2003,
which is the same version that I used previously. However, the PC's
operating system is now XP, whereas it was previously Windows 2000.
Any ideas?

Peter and Brian, THANKS so much! RoboHelp for Word is working
now.
Peter, your advice to install RoboHelp AFTER installing Word
was key in solving this problem.
For a quick summary of the result -- our Help Desk
uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook, Word, and RoboHelp. Then they
reinstalled Word and Outlook; needed to change an "Advanced"
setting in outlook; to get Word to stop giving me the error
messages, they needed to redo my user profile. Then after I was
confident that Word and Outlook were working correctly, this
afternoon I installed RoboHelp X5 via my CD, and then downloaded
and installed these two patches from Adobe.com:
- rho_x501.exe (for the RH Office Word 2003 Support Update)
- rho13_x502.exe (for the Microsoft XP Service Pack 2 Support
Update X5.0.2).
I'm so thankful that RoboHTML and RoboHelp for Word seem to
be working well! Thanks again!

I've had my yoga 13 for some months now, and used Microsoft office frequently, especially Word. Suddenly, these apps decide not to open anymore. I've tried opening them from the app screen and from files in my documents. I've restarted my computer and intalled automatic updates, but I can't get it to work. I'm simply brought back to my desktop every time.

Try this:
Control Panel -> Uninstall a program (under Programs) -> Click on Microsoft Office ONCE -> Change -> Repair

Excel (and Word) will not open.

If I try to open Excel with a previous workbook, I get the error message that Excel has stopped working, it searches for a solution but has to close. If I try to open Excel from the app menu (I'm using Windows 8) I get the error:
"Excel can not complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close applications"
There were NO other applications open.

Please take a look at below KB article, follow the steps mentioned in it troubleshoot the Available Resources errors in Excel:

(Although this article was written for Excel 2007 & 2010, the steps also apply to Excel 2013)
Please try Method 4 to disable the Preview/Details Pane though you are using Windows 8, and then check result.
Note it's a little bit different to disable the preview/Details Pane in Excel 2013: Click FILE->Open->Computer->Browser, click Origanize->Layout, Uncheck Details Pane and Preview Pane.

Microsoft Word Doc not opening - EPS Import message

Suddenly whenever I try to open a word doc I get the following message: There is not enough memory or disk space to run the converter "EPS Import". What in the world does this mean?? There is still 78 of 148 GB of memory available so clearly not a disk memory space issue. Help! I need to get my documents open!!

Could be many things, but it's best to start with these two steps, which may fix it also...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc , then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.

Hi, I've never had a problem with Entourage until this morning when i powered up.. receiving "you can't open the application microsoft entourage because powerpc applications are no longer supported"

If you're still running Entourage, I would suggest upgrading to Outlook, part of Office for Mac 2011. Even if you're able to run Entourage, and it sounds as if you were, it's just not Lion or Mountain Lion friendly.
