MicroStar K7N2GM-L Keeps Powering Down

I bought another computer.
This one is a MicroStar K7N2GM-L board.  On first boot and os install I get a BLUE screen.  So I went into BIOS  loaded fail safe.   This allowed me to boot the os.
After awhile I started getting all the updates from msi's web site.  The pc is now randomly REBOOTING it's self.
The case is one of those if you add +7$ you upgrade your PSU to an AMD rcomened type thing.
I have a feeling the powering off is do to the PSU.
What should the voltages and amps be for this mother board?
My psu says:
ORANGE+3.3V 28A
RED+5V 35A
White-5V .5A
Blue +12V  15A
Yellow -12V  .8A
Purple +5 2A
Board is running Windows XP with SP1 only
Current bios ver 1.4
Current nForce drivers
DEFAULT windows VGA driver has I cannot get new ones do to rebooting.
CPU= AMD Athlon XP-2200AR Socket A, 266FSB
RAM = I stick Dual Channel DDR400  PC3200 256MB
HD = WD 40GIG 7200 RPM
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Like I said that -5 is a bit low.  try un plugging any usb device  as some of those use the -5 . if you have a mouse or keyboard in a usb change them around to different places.. in bios disable 8x agp if it is on and spred spectrum. do 1 thing at a time so you will know if it works. Are you sure that UPSA is functional? I have seen systems where the UPS was causing the trouble. Itr was keeping th epower way down close to the 95volt point and the system was in brownout conditions all the time. Measure the ac output with the system connected. don't mearly trust what the UPS says. measure with volt meter.  Stck a different bigger supply in the thing. if you can.
I assume you are using winXP?  if so :
i hope it will work with you to
Windows XP lets you specify how the OS handles critical errors. To change this setting, select Start > Control Panel > Settings > System (in the Classic-style Start menu, Control Panel is under Settings). Click Advanced > System And Recovery > Settings. In the System Failure section, clear the Automatically Restart check box, then click OK. While you're here, it's a good idea to shut off XP's irritating habit of asking whether you want to report every petty error to Microsoft. Click the Error Reporting button near the bottom right and check Disable Error Reporting. However, check the box next to "But notify me when critical errors occur." Click OK here and in the next dialog.
Now when Windows XP encounters a Stop Error, it will simply display a message on the screen and won't automatically reboot. Ta-da!
be sure you do both of this things to get away off this stinking problerm

Do you get a blue screen as well ? is there some error code displayed?

After about 2 hrs of editing sometimes my iMac 27'' keeps powering down for no reason and then rebooting.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • My iphone keeps powering down since I have done the ios 8 update

My iphone 5s keeps powering down and rebooting ever since I have completed the ios8 update

    Hi loriwcase,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your device is powering off unexpectedly since updating to iOS 8. Take a look at the article linked below, it provides some great troubleshooting suggestions and information which will resolve most issues like this.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
    I hope this helps.

  • My Droid 4 keeps powering down

I have had smartphones before and none have done this: my new month old droid 4 keeps randomly powering down. i will have a charged battery and sometimes it will even be plugged in but it keeps saying 0% battery left and shuts down. I can turn it back on but it will just shut down again eventually.

Im soo frikkin mad. My 1st Smartphone was the Samsung stratosphere and all within a 9 month period I changed it out three times for non connectivity issues. They let me upgrade to a Droid 4 and 5 days into it the phone kept power cycling off n on and it wouldnt stop so they changed it out into a refurb or factory certified one. Now only two months later it is heating up really hot and the battery is wasting the battery in less than an hour. I have factory reset it twice and I have allowed the battery to fully die and fully rebuild before trying to see if it fixed itself but it hasnt. Im quite frankly getting sick of going through phones quicker than contracts. I buy all the accessories for my phones so when they go down and I have to get into an-other phone then I am left with so much extra stuff that it is too frustrating to have to keep going through problems with these devices. Verizon had me sign a two year contract for the first phone and then when I upgraded they made me pay for thwe upgrade a new two year contract......That is not fair. All new stuff and accessories to still have problems. Im sick of issues when my bill never is less than 200-250 a month. I need reliability. Now its been a year and Ive been through 4 smartphones on my 5th one. No one will admit to the phones being defective or problematic. And then they make you go through phone after phone atleast three times b4 they will get you into a differant upgrade. I may have to change service providers. I dont know what else to do.

  • 160N keeps powering down..for no reason

As stated in the title my WRT160N keeps powering off and more so, the past few days.  At first I thought maybe I kicked the power cord as that happens every once and awhile.  But, after moving the power strip and checking the plug, that was fine.
The basics of the situation for my router is that I have 2 wired connections and then the uplink is connected to my cable modem.  Just since I got home tonight, my router has powered off about 6-8 times.  This is in addition to it shutting off and sorta coming back on earlier today and yesterday.
When the power comes on by itself, all 4 ethernet lights and the data light blink in a very light color.  Sometimes the router comes back on the way it should, other times I have to unplug the router and plug it back in.
I was going to try and chat with tech support, but since I do not want to lose the connect, that is not feasibile.
    Any suggestions anyone?

I would suggest you upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your linksys router. To upgrade/re-flash the firmware follow the below mentioned settings.
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
    Firmware Upgrade/Reflash
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".

  • My 2014 iMac with Yosemite keeps powering down overnight.  It reboots fine.  It did not do so before the Yosemite update. Help!

my 2014 iMac 27" powers down overnight after I installed Yosemite.  It did not do so prior to the update. I just want it to sleep. How can I fix this? Thanks.

One last thought about a mac taking long to boot...try resetting the PRAM, that usually works.
1Shut down your computer completely. If you cannot access the shut down menu, you can hold the power button down until the machine shuts down. If this does not work, you can unplug it from the wall, but this is not recommended unless there is no other way to shut it down.
2Locate the "Command," "Option," "P" and "R" keys on your keyboard. The Command and Option keys are generally located directly to the left of your space bar. You will need to press these keys all at the same time, so be prepared to do so
3Turn on the iMac. Immediately press and hold down the "Command," "Option," "P" and "R" keys on your keyboard. This must be done before your computer displays the gray startup screen, otherwise it may not work.
4Continue holding the keys down until the computer restarts itself again, and you hear the startup chime. You may then release the keys, and your computer will boot up to your login screen or desktop

  • My 25" iMac keeps powering down...

It's about 2-3 years old, first gen of intel iMac.
We leave it on all the time, just let it go into sleep mode.
But lately, when we sit down to use it, it's completely powered down.
Not bombing while we use it, it just goes to sleep, seemingly as usual, but after that it somehow shuts down.
Have to use the restart button in the corner to get it powered up again.
Any suggestions, or am I bringing her in to the Genius Bar?

Replace your power supply. My 21" iMac Intel 1st gen has the same issue. I fix the problem by replacing the power supply.

  • GT70 keeps powering down when plugged in

it happens randomly but many times it happens b4 i can even sign into windows. tried restoring but it turned off while i was doing that and all restore points but one was left after that so i went back to factory install. it seems worse and now chrome has all sorts of errors. it runs on battery okay besides these new chrome errors and when i 1st got it, it used to sit in loading windows for ages but that stopped after a few weeks.
some1 please help, my computer is important to me.
*edit* sometimes it won't charge as well and if the cord is in a certain position the charging light will go off,and when i have it on and using it, the power cord will make it power down no matter the charge lvl. very rarely it can stay on while plugged in.
is it possible this is a problem with the power adapter?

  • My i pod nano 6th gen keeps powing down 1 minute into a song. It is fully charged

My I-pod nano 6th generatio has a full charge but keeps powering down 1 minute into a song.

Your nano is pausing playback when the screen goes dark (Either when it goes dark on its own or when you click the sleep/wake button). The reason for this is that it is not detecting your headset. You may be able to hear music, but the headset jack is not inserted enough for the nano to detect that it is there (or something is blocking the connection). Here are your three options:
Insert the headset jack harder. Most folks find that this solves their problem. If you can see ANY of the silver of the plug when it is inserted, it is NOT fully inserted. You should feel and hear a click" when it is fully inserted.
Clean out the crud in the headset port. If you have tried #1 and it just won't insert all the way, it is likely that you have crud in your headset jack. Shine a light in there. The entire inside of the jack is white, so if it looks dark down at the bottom, there is probably crud down there. You can try blowing it out or using canned air. Just understand that shoving anything else in there to clean it out will be taking your warranty into your own hands! However, I have cleaned mine out using whatever was handy and small enough to fit in there and so far so good. Your results may vary!
Take it to the Apple store. If you have really tried with 1 and 2 and it is still happening, then there might just be something up with your headset port or your headset jack. If it is the headset jack, you can look closely at that and be pretty sure if that is the problem. Try another headset to make sure. If you have worked all the way through to this point and it is still happening, it is time to take it to the Apple store.
