Mid 2011 MBA can't see Apple tv

Hi There,
My Macbook Air is Mid 2011 running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and is unable to see a 3rd generation Apple Tv on the network in itunes.
Other posts indicate the Mid 2011 MBA is compatable with the apple tv and Itunes on my windows laptop is able to direct audio to the apple tv so what am I missing on the Mac?

Things to check:
Both the MBA and the ATV are on the same network/subnet.
The ATV is updated to the most recent software.
Both the MBA and the ATV are signed into Home Sharing with the same Apple ID.

That would indicate a network issue.
Reboot ATV and router
Make sure DNS is set to auto
Ensure router is up to date, if on wifi try ethernet
Go to istumbler.net to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise

Why I can't see Apple website videos on Samsung tablet? Used many browsers, same result...

I could not find a website issues community and this one was the closest I could find. If this needs to be moved to a different community, please do so.
I realize it's cross platforms, but web browsing should be the same for everyone, no matter what device is used.
I can watch Apple website videos just fine on Windows/Chrome browser (or IE, Firefox) but can't on Samsung Android/Chrome browser (also tried Firefox, Opera, Samsung browser).
Other websites embedded videos are working (i.e. youtube, vimeo, forums etc.) so far it is only the Apple website embedded videos that are not working.
Any idea why?

Hi Markie,
It's not in the top window now, it's in the main section. When you plug your iPod in click on it and at the bottom of the window the Capacity pole changes as it adds stuff.

I am trying to use the home sharing feature, have confirmed that I am hooked up to the same wifi connection.
I can't see Apple TV as a device when I open up Itunes on my computer.

Apple TV will not show up as a device unless connected to iTunes for a restore. Home-sharing is separate regardless and you access your iTunes library via the computers section on Apple TV (provided your computer is on and running iTunes of course)

Screen Tearing on Mid-2011 MBA with 10.8.5?

I've just updated my MBA Mid-2011 to 10.8.5, and have noticed consistent screen-tearing throughout. It's a slow phase that works bottom-to-top and moving any windows around shows a very clear tear (different accelerations either side, leading me to believe this is an issue with the double-buffering timing.) I am aware Apple have performed screensaver fixes(?) and am wondering if others have noticed a similar issue.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Open any windowed application (I used finder)
2) Click and drag window header bar, moving in smooth circular motions
3) Observe over 10-20 seconds this phase-line crawling up the screen breaking the double buffer paging
This wasn't here before, it would've irked me had it been before now. No idea how this'll be fixed without another update, as OS X doesn't really permit much in the way of display server configuration, but any suggestions welcome!

I didnt imply it was an SMC issue, but a diagnostic elimination step.
Ahhh, 10.8.5 .... So I assume Apple let you install same as a developer of the YET TO BE RELEASED 10.8.4

Which Apple TV are you referring to. Only the much older first generation Apple TV will show up as a device in iTunes.

I'm having the same problem, and suspect it is due to the latest update to iTunes (8.1.1[10]). My router sees the ATV, and I can access trailers from the ATV, so it is connected to my local network and to the Internet. I've tried all the suggestions in Apple's Support help file (TS1453), including restarting the computer and resetting the ATV w/o success. I did have iTunes and ATV synced on my old computer, but killing that didn't help. Now I can't see it from the old computer either, and of course all my music and movies are gone from the ATV.

IPad 2 – Airplay can't see Apple TV

I have an iPad 2 running iOS 8.1 and an Apple TV 3 with the latest software and I can't use Airplay to send content to my Apple TV. I know there is no issue with the Apple TV since I can use Airplay to send content to my Apple TV using my iPhone 6, and Macbook, but not using my iPad. Oddly, Airplay will work on my iPad when I connect to my airport express, but not to my Apple TV - Apple TV doesn't appear in the drop down menu yet my airport express does! Hello, I was wondering if you had any update on your issue, because I have the same than you.
It's not in a home environment though, it's at my workplace.
We have a laboratory using approximatively 30 iPad 2 and an Apple TV 3rd Gen and last month our Apple TV glitched and we had to restore it to factory default.
We set it exactly as it was before, everything was working then (iPad 2 were detecting the Apple TV and could mirror, etc.
Now, the iPad 2 (all of them) can't see the Apple TV in the AirPlay menu, but they do detect all the other Airplay-enabled devices on our network.
My personal iPhone 5S see the Apple TV via P2P Airplay, my colleague's iPhone 6 see it too and the Apple TV is definitely working by itself, it access internet and such, so it's not a connectivity issue.
The only thing I can't confirm is whether the Airplay feature is broken for all non P2P-capable devices or just for the iPad 2, because we don't have other models available.

New Computer can't see Apple TV

I have a mac book pro that I had been using to sync to my apple to tv. I recently bought a mac pro and did the migration to it but the new one can't seem to see the TV even though I marked in preferences for it too. Are their any suggestions of things that maybe I did wrong? The laptop can still see it but it is gonna be a pain if I have to keep disconecting the external drive that holds all the media in order for to use it on the laptop for syncing.

I was meaning more in respect of migrating your itunes library. It's not necessary to try to copy over the itunes application itself. Indeed it should already be on a new mac, you may however need to update it to 7.3.1. What you should have done in brief is move your itunes folder (~/user/Music/iTunes) from your old mac to your new one, connect the external HD with your music on, open itunes and ensure that the HD is selected as your music folder location. I'm assuming you have done this.
You will also need to turn of syncing between your old mac and the tv (it will only sync with one itunes library) and register your new one as the primary source (the pass code thing), you could then register your old mac for streaming only if you wished.
Everything should now be working for you. If not where do things start to go wrong for you/how far do you get.

Can't see Apple TV set up

Have connected Apple TV box with hdmi cable to the tv and to the mains. Connected tv Ariel to the main tv and removed all other connections. The setup screen for Apple TV just isn't showing up... Can only see regular tv pictures/shows. Checked input and it recognised a cable is connected to hdmi 1 port... Help
