Mid 2012 13.3" macbook pro whats the max HZ(fps)

i play allot of games on my mid 2012 13.3" macbook pro i play them all a 60Hz(60 fps) what is the max i can set it too with out damaging the display my friend have some monitors that use 125Hz they say that would damahe my screen i what to know what is recommended

All 13" MBPs only have the built in Intel graphics so you are very limited as to what FPS you can run games at.
As far as the Hz screens run at that has no baring on game play. All flat screen monitors use the 60Hz setting but it really doesn't matter on LCD/LED screens. That is really a Refresh rate for CRT monitors that had to Redraw the screen from top to bottom, bottom to top but with LCD/LED the whole screen is refreshed at once, IE no scanning like on older TUBE CRT monitors.

  • Picture Included. Mid 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro green/purple lines on screen. Freezes. Sometimes 3 beeps.

Alright I have a Mid 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro purchased in June 2012. For about the last month, I have this issue where as I am using it random colored lines will show up on the screen (lines usually green, purple, but occasionally the issue occurs while booting and lines are black on white background). As soon as the lines appear, everything freezes. Sometimes the computer automatically reboots. Other times, it will just turn off and start beeping 3 times in a row. AT first, I thought this may be a video card error because it happened a lot when I was watching videos. However, it also happens randomly when I am just using safari/chrome with no other programs runnings. The most annoying part of this issue is that it is completely random. Computer won't act up for maybe 2 days straight during all activities (videos, surfing the web, etc). Then I will have a day where the problem is consistent.
Also, although I think this is just a correlation, all problems started after upgrading to Yosemite.
    Picture below:
Does anyone else with a Macbook Pro (especially 2012) have this issue? These two discussions seem to be describing this very situation:
Screen froze, purple lines, three beeps. Help!
Macbook Pro screen glitches, 3 beeps, NOT THE RAM

thanks alex. I'm going to the genius bar later this week for them to get a look at the issue.
in the meantime, do you have any idea why the problem occurs when I apply a little pressure to the bottom of the computer (under the command screen). here is a video of the situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88C34bHZAd8&feature=youtu.be
also, i found this thread describing my exact situation: Field of vertical lines all over Macbook Pro screen? (+ freezes, beeps)
do you have any idea of a solution from reading that?

  • I want to run Quicken through Windows on my macbook pro, whats the best way to do this?

I want to run Quicken 2012 through Windows on my macbook pro, whats the best way to do this?
I have been looking at Parallels or VMware in order to use Windows but then I will also need to get a Windows license. Just looking for the most inexpensive way possible as this will probably be the only Windows app I run.
Also looking at this CrossOver software which says you dont need Windows license. Anyone used this before? had success?

CrossOver's website has a list of software it has certified as working or working with known issues - Quicken 2012 has a bronze rating meaning it runs but with enough issues that it isn't recommended. In other words, "Run away!"
Get a copy of Windows 7 OEM from Amazon or New Egg and give it a try with VirtualBox (an open source virtualization program). If VirtualBox doesn't cut it you can always buy VMWare or Parallels.

  • Does any one else with a mid 2012 13 inch macbook pro have this problem?

I took my computer in for repair last year having this problem and the problem has started again. I don't know why this happens because I am very carefull with my laptop and never use it on my lap. I also have a shell case on the computer and put this in a laptop sleeve. Also,  have friends that abuse their laptops and have the same model as me and they have never had this kind of issue. My software is up to date so I don't think thats a problem.
Model: Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2012
I purchased this in June 2012 and do not have apple care so if someone can tell me how much the repair for this problem will cost that would be great!

That looks like a GPU or display problem.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be free regardless of warranty status.  You will be told what repair costs will be, which you may accept or decline.
Bring the image with you just in case the MBP starts to behave it self in front of the technician.
    Ciao.

  • Mid 2012 13 inch MacBook Pro  - Repairs

    Hi,
I am getting very bad experience with MID 2012 MacBook Pro. I am not sure how many you are getting.
I brought this mac 08/2012 and spend 1200$ ( its big money). First year, I am happy this mac and nothing was happened (because it has warranty). In 2nd year it has small issue, I thought because of too much usage with internet or software related ( I do not have much softwares).
In 3rd year, real problems started
    1. Running very slow ... Same software, Applications and same persons are using.
    2. Freezing - Nothing is working
    3. Getting too much heat - while watching Videos, youtube or pictures ( I need these, this is the reason I brought this APPLE MAC)
    4. Started noising ( not too much, but compare to first year it is noise)
    5. Finally (************************************)
Stopped working, I can see only gray screen - after spending 1200$ I can see this. ( I can see blue screen (windows) with 400$)
I called, APPLE STORE and took appointment for repair (we have to go with APPLE because we spend 1200$).
After 7 days I got appointment for repair. Repair was completed and was asked what was the issue,
RESPONSE FROM APPLE: THIS IS COMMON ISSUE AND HAPPENS RANDOMLY - Bit surprised
Which means APPLE is reducing their quality same like as PC makers, why not reducing the price.
I am not sure what issues I am going to get. Please do not replace the PC with Apple Macs. Both have same issues in long term usage.
    Thanks
    Sudheer Reddy

If you are absolutely certain the noise originates in the lower-right corner, then it is the HDD. Else if it originates from around the middle of the keyboard, towards the hinge area, it will be the fan. Either case, replacement is the only remediation. See here: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/RVKjhXW1CYSUnZk3.large
BACK UP YOUR MAC NOW, then make an appointment with your favorite Apple service spot (Store, Service Provider, etc.) to get the new part put in. If it is the drive, you will be handed back a completely blank computer so it is up to you to restore it to its current state.
Do you need help in how to create a bootable clone of the Mac, that you can use to restore it back to life?

  • I want to daisy chain my 15 inch mid 2012 non retina macbook pro to a 2012 27inch imac and then to a 27 inch thunderbolt display

I have a mid 2012 non retina 15inch macbook pro, and a 27inch 2012 imac, and a 27inch thunderbolt dsplay and I want to use the imac and the thunderbolt display as dual monitors for my macbook pro and daisy chain them together.  I have an extra thunderbolt cable,  How would I go about doing this,  every time I try to connect it via Target Display mode it only shows up on the imac and the thunderbolt diplay shows the imac screen but I cannot access anything on it. I would love some help,  I am probably just missing something simple.

Yes there is on Mac computers that do not come from the factory with "Built In", Note the Words Built In, DVD drive.
On all Mac computers that come with Built In DVD drive Apple has Restricted the installation of Windows from ONLY That Built In drive and Only when it is Physically installed inside the system.
Many people have tried what you want to do and to my knowledge None have been successful.
It is something that is Hard Wired, Written, into the Firmware of these Mac computers.
Some have tried installing Windows on the standard HDD and then moving that HDD to the optical bay or leaving it in the main bay and installing a SSD into either the main drive bay or optical bay and have been greeted with the system not booting to either OS or not booting to Windows.
Something about how boot camp sets up the drive and possibly makes changes to the Firmware or EFI partition on the drive that Windows is installed to or to both that restrict it. You can't even make another Mac OS X partition on that drive without screwing up the Windows install.
To your last post the Answer is NO as stated above.

  • Mid 2012 13" i5 Macbook Pro Screen Freeze, Shut Down, 3 Beeps!

Hi guys, my macbook recently started freezing and then shutting down giving 3 beeps afterward. I know 3 beeps is traditionally RAM, but here is a picture of my screen when it freezes. Do you think its GPU and logic board problem or is it really the RAM? Maybe something else? Anyways would love some feedback, going to take it in to the Geek Squad as it still should be covered with a 1 year warranty since I purchased it in February of this year.

I will be taking it in next week, just wanted to have an idea of what it is. This is my second Macbook pro, my first I have had to get fixed 6 or 7 times in a couple years but Apple and Bestbuy wouldn't replace it, even though the first problem happened during the 1 year warranty... After the last time we had it fixed they finally gave me a big discount on another one, but now this one is having problems... I thought MacBooks were supposed to be very reliable! I am not hard on them at all, never been dropped once, not even a scratch on them. I don't get it. Would still like to hear some more thoughts, especially if you have seen a screen like this one! Thanks!

  • FCP X on MacBook Pro(to the max)

I need opinions, pros/cons on whether MacBook Pro can handle FCP X. Let's say the MBP would be my only option and it would have top of every option; ie, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM, etc.
I am a professional editor who has a non-Intel MAC PRO (old model).
    Thank you in advance.

Many people  use MBPs with that sort of spec very successfully.
Many also use models with a lower spec.
Having said that, if you read the forum, you will find some editors with MacPros of the highest spec complaining of problems with FCP X.
One problem is that no two people have exactly the same setup or workflow, so you can get 2 people with superficially the same equipment reporting quite different results.

  • Cannot get any SSD to work with my mid 2012 13 inch macbook pro!! PLEASE HELP!

I have tried over and over and NO ssd seems to work. All I get is a blank screen. This is very strange because I had a 128gb crucial m4 running firmware 000f for about 8 months before I decided to upgrade and never had a problem with it, not a single beach ball. Now when I decide to upgrade the 128gb m4 with a 256 m4, I run into problems. I returned the 256 m4 thinking that the drive was defective, and I purchased a Samsung 840 250gb to see if I would have any luck with that one. NOPE. Still didnt work. As a last resort I went with the intel 520 240gb, and still nothing.  Im extremely puzzled by this. Especially since I was alredy running a ssd on my machine prior to deciding to upgrade. ALL the ssd's I tried were brand new and sealed and the method for installing the OS on them was by using carbon copy cloner. Anybody know whats going on? Anybody else experiencing/experienced the same?? Did I ruin my mac?? Right now I am using a Western Digital scorpio black 7200rpm 500gb hard drive and it works just fine. The problem seems to happen only when I decide to upgrade to a ssd. Oh, and by the way, I am running Mountain lion 10.8.3

I'm running 10.8.3 with a 512GB Crucial m4 SSD and having no problems. It sounds as if you've a problem with your SATA cable, which will rear its ugly head more often with SSDs than with hard drives.
If I were you, I'd order a new SATA cable (from ifixit or PowerBookMedic or maybe even OWC). Then try out a new SSD. See if your problems are fixed then.

  • No Trackpad / Keyboard on Windows 7 Installation on mid-2014 15" Retina MacBook Pro

    Hello,
Although there is a similar thread regarding this  --  this applies to a newly released mid-2014 15" Retina MacBook Pro and the solution posted in the original thread does not work for this newer model.
I am attempting to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a mid-2014 15" Retina MacBook Pro.  (Running Mavericks 10.9.5)  I Have both an original Windows 7 Install DVD and a downloaded ISO file as well.
PLEASE NOTE:  That because I have need for multiple partitions on the SSD drive, I am not able to use Boot Camp Assistant to do the actual install.  I have accomplished this a number of times in the past without any issues during or after the install.  I have an MS-DOS(FAT) partition ready to go.
When I restart from the Windows 7 install DVD I get to the "Choose Language" screen and I have no trackpad or keyboard.  A wired USB Mouse does not work either
I am not able to create an install USB drive for this model because Boot Camp Assistant gets to the "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple" task it gives an error message "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server"  (NOTE: Using Boot Camp Assistant to ONLY "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple" as I get the same error message when attempting to do that.
It is my understanding based on the Apple article   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634  that I need to download the driver software directly from Apple with the link they provide.  I DID successfully download the Windows support software from Apple following the instructions in that article.  However, I am not aware of any way to include that downloaded software when using Boot Camp Assistant to create a USB install drive.
I tried the trick with the USB drive as explained in apple article  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4599  but even with a freshly formatted MS-DOS(FAT) USB drive in the USB port on the left of the MacBook Pro and the Apple USB Optical Drive plugged into the USB port on the right side of the MacBook Pro, I still have no Trackpad or keyboard when I get to the first screen of the Windows installation.
I spent the last two days searching posts here and in general and only end up more baffled than before . . .
I am as positive as possible that the USB drives I am using are USB 2 and NOT USB 3.  Although I guess that does not matter if I can't use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows installer that includes the Windows drivers for the MacBook Pro Hardware . . .
Some of the posts suggest that the Windows drivers from Apple need to be included on a USB install drive created with Boot Camp Assistant.  That appears to be impossible at the moment if the Software Update Server does not contain them.  I am confused as to why the are available directly from Apple  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1721 but they are not available when using Boot Camp Assistant????
Am I missing something???  Is this just a matter of waiting for Apple to add the necessary drivers to the Software Update server???  (It has only been two months since this MacBook Pro was released)
Has anyone successfully installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a mid-2014 MacBook Pro running Mavericks???
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated . . .
    John

    1. I have tried copying the Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse drivers to the $WinPEDriver$ directory with mixed success on a 2012 MBP.
    2. My experience is based on a 2013 rMBP. You may be able to use an Apple USB Keypad/Mouse to better success.
    3. See http://www.macworld.com/article/2460820/macbook-pro-mid-2014-review-minor-update -offers-slightly-better-cpu-performance.html for HW differences between the two machines.
    4. If you have access to a 2013 rMBP, I can suggest trying to build the USB on that and working with the USB to see if you can make it install Windows. the rMBP 2014 and rMBP 2013 have the same HW, except some CPU changes. You can also try building the USB at the nearest Apple store, if possible.
    5. There is a section in AutoUnattend.xml, which is supposed to install all drivers in $WinPEDriver$ (see this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686316 )

If you are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them.  Let them deal w/it.

  • Should I buy the 2013 13" macbook pro or 2012 15"(refurbished) macbook pro

Hey guys, so basically to start off, I've never bought a mac before however i have an iphone 5, ipad 3rd gen, and ipod nano 3rd gen. So im now looking for a new laptop as my windows desktop is pretty old and slow. I've been looking at buying either the 2013 13" retina display macbook pro or the 2012 15" refurbished macbook pro. Im at university studying civil engineering, so im mainly going to be using it for creating documents and using some subject specific programmes as well as the normal stuff such as social networking, photos, watching movies etc. The reason I am looking at getting the mid-2012 refurbished 15" is because of the larger screen, dvd drive, and i7 processor, and easier cababilities of upgrading and repairing, however ive also heard that the new mavericks system can slow down the performance of older macs. Obviously the retina display of the 2013 13" would be nice but not exactly necessary for me and also therefore, it feels as though i would be getting more for my money with the 2012 15". The cost of the 13" i5 2013 will be £945.60 (education pricing) and £1,189.00 for the 15" i7 2012 (I wouldnt want to be paying more than that). Any advice would be amazing as im really stuck between choosing these two!! Thanks
