Middle click to open window in foreground broken

I upgraded my Firefox recently to Version 16.0.1.
Since then my middle click button has not been working the same.
I open up multiple windows and in each window I open links and I used to do this by middle clicking on the link and it would open up the link in a tab in the current window I am working in.
Now when I middle click, it opens up the link in the primary/original window and not in the current window I am working in.
The only solution I have found is to hover over the link and open in the foreground tab.
I am using Tab Mix Plus version 0.4.0.3 and have uninstalled and re-installed already with no change...

Middle-Clicking not opening Bookmarks in New Tab

Windows 7 just did an update that included a new mouse driver, and now, middle clicking on an entry in my Bookmarks menu does nothing, instead of opening the bookmark in a new tab. There's no driver rollback available, and no driver at the mouse's maker's website (Logitech M-100 Optical Mouse)

Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

Middle click stopped opening in a new tab on Mac version 32.0.1 or 32.0.2. Disabled TabMixPlus, no change.
browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick is set to default true.

EMac freezes randomly, open window turns into broken up jibber

My eMac freezes randomly, open window turns into broken up jibber (kinda looks like I put a photoshop filter on it or something). I can't force quit when it does this, no error message, I've repaired permissions. Any ideas?

This doesn't help. but my first thought on seeing your picture was 'addressing bit failure in the video memory'. Unfortunately, as you already know, the video 'card' on the eMac is a chipset mounted to the logic board, and the only repair I'm aware of is replacement. An Apple Service Provider could give you an estimate but unless your eMac is still within the standard one-year hardware warrenty or you purchased the three-year ApplceCare extended warrenty, that's not an attractice cost-benefit tradeoff.
On the chance that I'm wrong and it's some unusual system corruption, look again for the Hardware Test disc. It can be tricky figuring out where it is; on early eMacs it was always a separate CD, on recent eMacs it's a partition on the Restore DVD, and on models in between, it depends on whether the OS X Install disc was on a DVD or not. You might try booting from your OS X Install or Restore disc using Startup Manager to see if Hardware Test is on a partition.
If nothing else, booting off the OS X Install disk (as if you were going to run Disk Utility > Repair Disk to check the drive) should further confirm if the problem is in the video hardware rather than in the hard drive's OS: if the broken display appears when booted from the OS X Install disc, it's pretty certainly the video hardware.

Middle click not opening link in new tab. Windows 7 Firefox 17.0.1

Middle click suddenly stopped opening new tabs when links are clicked on. I was running 16, but updated to 17 (latest) to try to fix the problem. I am using a Logitech mouse and keyboard. Worked until this week.
I really need this working again.

Cannot switch between applications by clicking on open window

I am using a MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite V 10.10.2
When I have multiple applications open, I cannot click on an app window to use that application. (this includes clicking on files the desktop when not in the finder app) I can use other means of changing applications such as corners or gestures.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Sounds like you may have an issue with a stuck key on your keyboard, or maybe you're inadvertently performing a multitouch gesture.
First thing I'd try, is going to the trackpad settings and turning off multitouch gestures, even if just temporarily. Do things work as expected with that disabled? If yes, look through the different gestures and try to figure out which one you must be triggering. If not, I'd take it back to wherever you had it repaired, and get them to take a look at it. It sounds a bit like the keyboard is sending a constant signal from the "Option" key.

When I open new tabs using middle click or "Open link in new tab", the "reload current page" button doesn't work.

Doesn't matter how many times I click it. It just does nothing.

Do you have the Ask toolbar? If you do uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.

Safari 3 Beta - Windows - Feature Request - Middle-click open in new tab

I'm checking out the new beta... I have a quick suggestion for a feature.
One thing I've noticed is that there is no option for middle-click to open a link in a new tab. I love this option in Mozilla and IE7, please implement it in Safari!

I can Middle click on any link, any bookmark an have it open in a new tab.
(in the background). Or make the new tab current. Just go to the preferences & fingle around. I can also left or middle click a tab to close it. It must be your settings. You can also rearrange tabs by dragging them. Create new windows
by dragging the tabs off the bar. Merge all windows by going to the Windows pull down menu. i cant really test if this works on a PC because i sold my last rig (PC) for pennies. another feature i like is (private browsing)

Safari4: middle-click open new tab sometimes busted

It looks like middle-clicking to open a new tab breaks when target= is specified in the html. I'm not 100% that its the target= that breaks things, but it seems to be consistent. This was not an issue with 4 beta. In these situations, apple-clicking still does open in a new tab.

I am having the same problem. This link, from "tribalwars.com" will not open in a new tab with a middle-click.

Crash when opening windows in extension...

Hello everybody.
I have encountered a strange issue when trying to open a window from within my extension on OSX: It seems that whenever i try to open a "spark" window from Photoshop CS6, it instantly crashes. The same extension works flawlessly in InDesign.
I have tested it on OSX v. 10.7.5 and 10.8.2 - I haven't tested on Windows, so I don't know if it's a Mac only issue.
I have tried to compile a minimal test case to illustrate the problem - using Extension Builder (2.0.0.62-32314) I created a new project targeting Photoshop and InDesign CS6. I have pasted the contents of the extension and a simple window below.
Now - when i execute this in InDesign, the window opens and displays fine when I click the "Open window"-button - but executing it in Photoshop causes a crash. If don't set the window type, I can debug and see a different kind of error (Error #3200: Cannot perform operation on closed window) and still no window is shown. And again: only in Photoshop...
So: Have I run into a bug introduced in the latest versions of PS/Extension Builder? I'm pretty sure this used to work in earlier versions (with mx:Window rather than s:Window)? Or is there any other way to open these kinds of native windows, that Photoshop might be happier about?

Same problem for me.
This happens only on Mac from version 13.0.4 Photoshop.
It doesn't works with mx:Windows and s:Windows.
I tried with Extension builder version 1.5.0 and 2.0.0.4 but the problem persists.

Middle Click Freeze

Hi,
I was recently having issues with my middle click button on my T500 but I was able to get that working. However, now whenever I middle click (Scroll, open new tabs, etc.) I cannot use my touch pad for about a second. It freezes. Now I know this sounds like a ridiculous complaint but it is very annoying.

Thanks for noting the memory drain quirk...I believe James has that one escalated to engineering, so hopefully we'll get a new driver in a couple weeks that will solve this.

How do I get my hotmail to open in a new tab instead of a new window and I've tried the middle click/ctlr option.

MSN is my home page and when I click on the hotmail link in the top left hand corner of the page it always opens in a new window even if I press middle-click/ ctrl keys. The hotmail link is the only link that I have had this problem with thus far. Can you help me correct this problem?

Hotmail opens in a new window because the code or set of instructions on the MSN website tells Firefox to open Hotmail in a new window. I would suggest you right click on the Hotmail button and left click on "Open Link in New Tab". This will open a new tab in the current window.

Why does a new tab (middle click) in a new window open in the original window?

In FF 4 Beta 11 I open a new window, middle click a link in the new window, but the new tab opens on the original window.
Why doesn't it open in the new window?
Are there settings to alter this behaviour?

In 4.0 stable this problem still occurs. I have restarted in safe mode and all new tabs (middle click or right click new tab) open in the original window.
