  • Arabic and Hebrew features InDesign CC (2014 release) not accessible

    Hello,
I need to create a lay-out with Arabic content in Indesign CC (2014 release). After checking how to go about that via the help-section (online and PDF) I have to conlude that the help does not help me any further.
It says I need to, from the paragraph panel options, set InDesign to the world-ready paragraph composer in order to have the text direction etc. features enabled. This, however, is not the case. The panel still looks like before and I get no Arabic / hebrew features.
This is the same for the character panel, wich also does not give the shown options for Character direction as shown in the Help screenshots.
I have followed all the suggestions in the help section.
I have also tried setting the default paragraph editor to World-Ready via the preferences, and then restart the program, but still no success.
    Please advise, it's urgent.

    Hi,
Every change of plugins is resetting preferences.
Each language has its own preferences. But you move or copy them manually but you might adjust them afterward, because everylanguage has not the same functionality. At least not on the same place.

    Hi William,
    It worked!
Allthough I did not understand that, from the CC panel, I should install the entire app again. Thought this would go through the preferences window, but I noticed that, when changing the App language in the preferences, the app-list in in the panel changes.
Only thing is now: all the preferences and personal workspaces are gone:-(
Adobe realy doesn't make it easy, unless you're into IT, wich i am totally and absolutely not;-)
    Antways,
    thanks for the usefull info;
    Have a great weekend

Among the system fonts on your computer, is there "Arabic Font"?
If so, how does it print in WORD or such?

  • Cs2 premium - Middle Eastern version- InDesign and reverse hebrew - windows vista

i have cs2 and after installing the package, i have a very strange problem
in indesign, when i want to write text in hebrew, i get the word reversed, so for example(in english now) if i write in hebrew: moshe, i get ehsom (reversed word)
the example is in english, but the english is fine. i did it in english so you will understand what i get in hebrew.
CS2 is installed on windows Vista
also i installed illustrator(part of the CS2 package) and there, there is no problem at all!.
    the hebrew works great.
    no reversed words.
i dont know what to do and how to solve this problem.
i tried to uninstall CS2, and then reinstalling it again, but the problem stays.
how can i fix this problem?
    thanks for your help!

i dont have an option to chose between RTL or LTR languages.
That's the whole point of the ME editions
I stole this screenshot from Winsoft's site:
So, at least in CS3, that's where the paragraph-direction button is; it's on the Paragraph palette, which you can find in CS2 by going to Window -> Type -> Paragraph (if you don't know exactly where it is already). I think it's in the same place in CS2 but it's been a looooooong time since I've looked at CS2ME.

  • Photoshop CS6 extremely slow after changing text engine to Middle Eastern

    Hello,
    I'm using PS CS6 13.0.5 x64 on Snow Leopard (iMac 27" late 2012)
I tried to change the text engine to Middle Eastern, but after I restart PS, the program is nearly non-responsive, and it takes forever to edit text. Changing it back to East Asian solves the problem, but then again, I want to use the Middle Eastern feature...
When I use Illustrator CS6 I don't have such problems (although I have to write backwords, since there is no support for right-to-left in Illustrator in my version)
    What could be the problem?

The problem is that you do not have a Middle Eastern version of Photoshop:
    http://www.aramedia.com/adobecs3dir.htm
I believe the latest version of the ME edition is CS5.

  • How to setup Creative Cloud to be able to use Middl-Eastern Languges?

    Hi
I am a new subscriber of Creative Cloud I have downlowded a copy in my PC laptop I have a problem of using Middle-Eastern Languages in my Photoshop CS6.
I followed the help search and see there are options to use these languages but it doesen;t show in my paragraph styles. can you help please. it doesen't show the RTL keys to choose from.

Did you try setting the preferences to Middle Eastern?
To reveal Middle Eastern type options in the Photoshop interface, do the following:
Choose Edit > Preferences > Type (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > Type (Mac OS).
In the Text Engine Options section, select Middle Eastern.
    Click OK, and restart Photoshop.
Choose Type > Language Options > Middle Eastern features.

  • Request for feature of Next Version of Indesign Middle Eastern Version

    For Adobe Team,
Request for Feature of Next Version of Indesign Middle Eastern Version
About Character and Paragraph Style Sheet in Next Version of Adobe Indesign Middle Eastern Version
Make an option for Latin Font style and Unicode/arabic font style.
We have work in both language English and Arabic or Urdu with same document or same paragraph.
For Guidence see this image of InPage Urdu Programme.
    Thanks
    Safwan

Ooh, InPage! I'm so glad that I don't have to work in InPage anymore.
However, that feature that you're looking for was actually a good one. It won't do you any good to ask for it here, though; you want to go straight to WinSoft. They make the ME edition, not Adobe.
However: World Tools suite from in-tools.com has the feature "Apply Latin Character Style" which does what you want, more or less. The main paragraph style would be an Urdu RTL style, unlike your InPage example. Unfortunately, going in "the other direction" World Tools only has "apply Hebrew character style." It's still worth a look for you, I think.

  • InDesign Middle Eastern: Hebrew vowels under resh and dalet. Accents collide with vowels

I am using InDesign CS3 Middle Eastern. When importing Hebrew text from Microsoft Word formated with quality fonts such as SBL Hebrew, I have two problems:
    1. Vowels under the letters resh and dalet do not appear under the vertical stroke of the letter but centered in the middle of the letter width. In Microsoft Word they appear in the right position, just under the vertical stroke of the consonants. See the image.
    2. Accents (cantillation) appear in some cases on the vowels (mixed with the vowel); the OpenType features that make the vowel move to the right to allow enough space for the accent do not work. See the image.
Please, could anybody tell me, whether these problems have been solved in later versions of InDesign Middle Eastern?

If you are in fact using an OpenType font that supports advanced
diacritic placement and substitution, you can enable that by going to
the flyout menu of the control panel and finding the "diacritic
positioning" palette.  There, in the dropdown, should be the option to
    choose OpenType positioning.
I'm presuming this was available in CS3, but I can't actually remember
    for sure.
    HTH,
    Ariel

  • InDesign CC 2014 tryout has only some new features and some others are old: strangest thing ever.

Hi everyone, I have installed a tryout on InDesign CC 2014 today to work on epubs. The app is having all sort of problems. It crashed while making packages. I resetted the prefs and this was fixed.
But the most annoying and strange things are the new features: some are showing (like the export fixed layout epub option), others are not (interactivity menu is exactly the old one, bookmarks options in export panel are not showing).
I had uninstalled it and installed again. It is still not working. I work on an iMac with sys 10.9.5 (Yosemite).
I need to keep the old version running for compatibility issues. I can't delete it.
I am stuck: any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

For example: I have the "export fixed layout epub" (which I do not have in InDesign CC) , but I do not have the bookmarks option in the export panel. I still see SWF preview, but not the epub interactivity menu under -> view -> interactivity. To be more precise: I am following a Lynda.com course about epub: I'm not guessing what to look for or what button to click. I have to follow very careful instruction step-by-step that I can't follow because the program miss some parts.
I attach an image to better explain. It's in italian, but if you just count the options you will see that one is missing: the bookmark (and last) one.

  • Middle Eastern type/Hebrew not working in CC 2014

Hebrew used to work for me in CC. Now in cc 2014 it's not. I have Hebrew installed in windows, middle eastern type engine selected, and middle eastern text options available. When right-to-left is selected, it still types left-to-right. I've tried pasting in text and it reversed; and I tried freehand typing it in, and it didn't type right-to-left.

I also had problems with my extensions.
    I followed the following steps.
    1. Closed Dreamweaver
    2. Updated Extension Manager CC using the Creative Cloud desktop app.
    3. Renamed C\Users\Joe Dempsey\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\DreamweaverCC\en_US\Configuration to C\Users\Joe Dempsey\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\DreamweaverCC\en_US\Configuration-backup
4.Deleted and re-installed the extensions using the Extension Manager.
    5. Started Dreamweaver.
There may be a more efficient method; the above worked for me.

  • How can I download the extended Middle Eastern version of inDesign, called "Tasmeem"?

    Hello everyone,
I would love it if someone tells me how can I download the extended ME version of inDesign, it is called "Tasmeem" and it is made for Arabic Calligraphy.
    thank you,
    Rayan.

Peter, Tasmeem is not just the regular ME edition of InDesign. I think
it is an InDesign extension published by Winsoft, the French company who
originally developed the Middle Eastern version of InDesign before Adobe
    took it over.
So the OP should probably check out the Winsoft website to see if it's
still available, and for which versions of InDesign.

  • InDesign Middle Eastern (English interface) version

InDesign Middle Eastern - English interface version.  Will it work for standard Western English as well?  Will it work left-to-right as well as right to left?  Will the resultant InDesign files be openable by another user with a standard Western English version of InDesign?  Are there any other issues that I should be aware of, such as when generating PDFs or printing?

Will it work for standard Western English as well?  Will it work left-to-right as well as right to left?
    Yes.
The Middle Eastern version of InDesign is fully capable of producing "standard" English LTR layouts as well as ME RTL layouts.
Will the resultant InDesign files be openable by another user with a standard Western English version of InDesign?
    Yes.
Since CS4, both the RTL and LTR layout of InDesign ME can be opened by the non-ME version (or the "standard Western English version" as you refer to it) since all the RTL functionallty set to the document by the ME version is supportted by the non-ME version.
Are there any other issues that I should be aware of, such as when generating PDFs or printing?
Nothing special I can think of.

  • Where can I find the CC upgrade for the Middle Eastern version of InDesign?

I'm a current Creative Cloud subscriber and would like to upgrade from the CS6 version of InDesign to the new, CC version.  However, I am using the Middle Eastern (ME) version instead of the default.  When I navigate to the "Download Center" on the Creative Cloud website, I can only find - what appears to be - the download for the standard version.
Can someone point me in the direction, or share a link, to the InDesign ME CC upgrade?
Thank you, in advance, for your time and help.

Is that "preferences" on the Creative Cloud page somewhere, within InDesign itself, or somewhere else?
I'm guessing it's inside of the InDesign CC program itself, as I don't see it on the website anywhere.

  • I need to create Arabic and Farsi brochures in InDesign CS6. Does anyone know where I can get a plug-in to make Middle Eastern languages work correctly from right to left?

I need to create Arabic and Farsi brochures in InDesign CS6. Does anyone know where I can get a plug-in to make Middle Eastern languages work correctly from right to left?

With CS6 you have to pay extra for these plugins.
With the CC you can download different ME versions to add their functionality.

  • Adobe InDesign CS4 ME (Middle Eastern Version) AND fonts

    hello,
does someone know, which Fonts are in "Adobe Indesign CS4 ME (middle eastern version)"  out-of-the-box (without Tasmeem!)?
We have real trouble to find out in advance, what kind of fonts are included or supported (or not).
    thank you.
    knuth

I'm not 100% sure on this answer, but this should at least be helpful:
The fonts in the InDesign fonts folder in CS4 are:
    AlQudsWide_Bold.otf
    Hasan_Hiba_Alef.otf
    EMIRI.otf
    Basim_Marah_Beh.otf
    Nassim-Semibold.otf
    Arabetics_Mehdi.otf
    Nassim-Bold.otf
    AlQudsWide_Regular.otf
    Nassim-Medium.otf
    DT_Qarandash_Beh.otf
    NASKRG.otf
    Nassim-Regular.otf
    Hasan_Noor_Alef.otf
    Nassim-Heavy.otf
There are others in the Adobe general fonts folder (most notably the extended family of Boutros Ads Pro), but I don't know if this was installed by CS4 or a previous version of InDesign. Here's a screenshot of the Arabic fonts currently installed on my system (none of them were purchased, and probably mostly installed by one of the Creative Suites).
