Midi apple loops disappear. Why?
All blue (audio loops) remain in the loop folder, I had greens before but all of sudden they has gone. I downloaded additional content, but says it's complete.
This is normal behavior. If you want the midi loop to sound exactly like auditioned in the preview you will have to create an audio track and move the midi region onto the audio track, and then it will sound exactly the same.

Im having some issues with the midi apple loops loosing some effects that are heard when previewed in the media section, then once dragged into the arrange it'll loose for example a prevalent reverb and other notable sonic qualities...even when the plug-ins that are usually bypassed once dragged into arrange window are activated its still lacking from the preview loop heard.

Why did some of my apple loops disappear?
Some of my apple loops are not showing up in my loop browser. Its not because of any options, I have checked that all out. The loops are still on my computer but they don't show up in my loop browser.

I think something is wrong with the apple loop browser. do you happen to have alot of loops loaded in?
I import loop folders all the time. with the same kind of files in them. yet sometimes only half or even less than half show up after "indexing" -
Midi Apple Loops sound different when dragged on to song
When ever I drag a green midi loop from Apple Loops to my song it sounds different. All the effects are gone. I tried to put som reverb on it but it doesn't sound like it does wheyn played in the Apple Loops bar.
How can I use the green midi loops from Apple Loops as they sound there with that effect. The blue audio Apple Loops works fine.
I had this same problem in Logic Pro 9There are some differences between the audio file previews contained in the loop and the actual data, sometimes by error, sometimes intentionally so.
For instance, if you preview an orchestral instrument, you hear it with reverb, as that's kinda how it's intended to sound, but when you drag it into Logic proper, you don't get reverb - because you will have one global reverb you send all the orchestral instrument too, rather than a hundred individual reverbs on each instrument.
Stuff like that. It varies, but there's nothing broken as such. -

I created two Apple Loops from a couple audio regions in my session so I could adjust the tempo. Only one of the regions succesfully converted and imported to an apple loop, but now my entire Apple Loop library is gone and I have have those two loops that I created. (of which only one works with audio in it)
How can I restore my Loops library?

Where are the MIDI Apple Loop files stored?
Am I the only one that wonders where the MIDI files are stored for GarageBand? The ones installed by iLife, the Jam Pack additions and any custom MIDI loops I create are nowhere to be found. Spotlight doesn't show any MIDI loop name I search and I have spent an entire day scrounging through just about every folder on my Mac looking for these puppies! Does ANYONE know where these files are stored?!!?

You appear to be correct, in as much as the developer specification for the Core Audio Format has provisions for a "MidiChunk". Thank you so much for at least pointing me in the right direction. I still couldn't find any explanation for this issue on the website you referred me to (and had previously visited), but I did find a small explanation in an obscure Apple Tech Document.
What I would still like to know is:
1. How do you access the MIDI data within the .caf files? I haven't found any application that will extract or access that data.
2. When I create custom MIDI sequences within GarageBand and save them to the Loop Library (e.g. a piano track named "hoity-toity-supercilious-wankersequencedeluxe"), they show up in the Loop Browser but I still can't locate the actual file anywhere on my Mac. I know I can just open up a GarageBand file in Logic and then export the MIDI file out from there. But, I would REALLY like to just be able to find the file to begin with and skip that extra stage.
If I could just find the answers to these burning questions. Oh, and (singing) if I only had a brain!

I clicked on Re-Index apple loops user library, and all my loops disappeared. I went on garageband and re indexed them again there, but not all of my loops have appeared.
I've reindexed spotlight, I've re installed Logic, but they're still not there. Why? 130 pounds isn't cheap for software that doesn't work...
Oh and also some of the instruments have disappeared.

How do I get them back?So were mine (I forgot to put in "Audio") but they aren't any longer and I'm wondering why Spotlight can't see them.

I tried working with Apple Loops and an extensive external midi rig the other day and came to an impasse at trying to do the following.
Any suggestions?
I used a ton of Jam pack loops with original loops in exs24 and external modules
What I wanted to do is to only change the tempo of the midi tracks(ostinatto mallets) and leave the loops at existing tempo.
Basically wanted to double the tempo of the midi track against the existing audio loops...
Any way to lock the Apple Loops at existing tempo?

PatI guess you could do like this; Bounce the loop as a regular AIF and add to audio window, then bring it to your arrange again, and just loop it regularly. If you now change the tempo of the song - the aif will stay as it were (unless you click follow tempo...)

MIDI Banks and Apple Loops Trustworthy Downloads?
I am currently attempting to locate and download MIDI banks and Apple Loops that I can use in the future, but I'm looking for a trustworthy site (a one stop shop if you will) to do this. If we only have Garageband installed, and not Pro Logic or any other programs, then is Garageband the only program to open up and play around with our MIDI banks or Apple Loops just for fun? I mean, is there another way we can open our loops simply to play around with and be able to pick out sounds we like, then perhaps save different sounds we like for future reference? I'm confused on how to actually open the loops and MIDI banks, so I need someone to tell me precisely how to do this if we just want to begin exploring. Thanks!
You can open Apple Loops in the Quicktime Player. Many sample producers offer their libraries in Apple Loops format as well as the more traditional standard WAV nowadays, so you should have no trouble finding plenty of resources.
Quicktime Player will also play GM MIDI files. -
How do you turn third-party midi loops into Apple Loops?
Does anyone know how to turn third-party midi loops into Apple Loops? I've got hundreds of short midi files that I purchased, and I would like to be able to use them in the loop browser of Logic Studio. I tried some of the obvious ways of doing this, like using Apple Loop Utility, but it doesn't seem to recognize .mid files. Seems like .mid files would be right up its alley, so maybe I'm doing something wrong...
Yes, have the same problem but with wav loops. i have 75000 wav loops from third part and do not find how to "logicized" it. For the moment i can use them into a project but they are not adapting when i change the bpm of the projetc for exemple.

Importing apple loops -why do some in a folder work and some dont?
im trying to drag and drop all my sample cds i have on my external drives into the apple loop browser in logic, some are folders in folders in folders as most cds are..why is it that when i drag the whole sample cd folder and drag it in that quite often just a few of the loops are installed in the window?..ive even tried dragging single files ,,they just seem to disapear although if i try to re-drag folders or files, im told they are already there?..i have some that have worked fine others dont even appear in the menu even tho if i try again it says they are there?..im keen to use the browser for audiotning sounds even if theyre not tagged ..anyone?..this is sooooo frustrating..many thanks in advance.,..T

It has nothing to do with font name itself. Also, by the way, font being a system component, can't be easily renamed in NotePad. You will need dedicated font editing tool like Macromedia's Fontographer. Anyway, Flash simply does not support some fonts and font's families. Unlike Other tools you brought up, Flash is vector based and not catered to handle all kind of fonts, but specific groups only. In fact if you deal with more applications, you will realize that it's a common issue. CorelDraw supports literally any font, half of which won't never shop up in Photoshop, then these that show up in photoshop, half of it won't show up in Flash, and so on. You just can't use all the fonts and it won't matter whatever you change their names. Why are Vocal Lyric found loops under Sound Effects in Apple Loops
Was About to explore what Vocal lyrics are available in Apple Loops of Logic Pro when I realised that a lot are duplicated in Sound Effects filter as well as Vocals filter.
Also, some vocals Lyrics are only in Sound Effects.
Why aren't Vocal Lyric loops filed only under Vocals? After all, they are not what I would consider to be Sound Effects.I think iWeb and iPhoto both use the iTunes Library as their default source for music. You could try going to iTunes, change the iTunes preference to NOT copy files (there's a check box in Preferences->Advanced/General) into the Library, or else have it import the aif files as mp3s (also in Advanced, click the Importing tab), then add the music files to iTunes.

Why doesn't Logic recognize my loop as an Apple Loop
I have challenges with getting LPX to recognize my wav > aiff file as a bona fide apple loop that I can then stretch tempos.
I have a drum brushes loop that I exported in WIN7/Audition, saved as wav and moved over the my mac. Then I dragged it into LPX, found the correct exact tempo manually (60bpm) in order to make an Apple Loop. Couldn't do it with the wav so saved it as an aiff from within LPX. LPX sees the "tempo information" (not really) and then was able to drag into Apple Loops browser, still, didn't create the tempo meta data or whatever it does to allow me to stretch it. I drag the re-indexed loop on an audio track and it's juts the same 60 bpm loop. Changing my global tempo does not alter the tempo of the loop.
Appreciate any help it getting another 10 bpm outta this thing for a project. Took forever to find a decent ballad drum with brushes!
thanksOK that works insofar as it saves the file with no issues and I can drag into the track area (does say there is time data to import- "YES") but it doesn't change with global tempo changes.
Also maybe there is a problem with the index? I deleted the other attempts from User Loops >SingleFiles folder but LPX still is searching for the file at every index.
So two problems now:
index still looks for older files
ALU is saving but LPX not changing tempo of Apple Loop
I read the manual re: file type.
The File Type tag determines if an application treats a file as a looping or non-looping file. Looping files are matched to the project tempo and key— if the Key tag is set to a value other than None. Non-looping files are not matched to the project tempo or key. (Untagged files added to a project are treated as non-looping.)
When I choose "Looping" in ALU, it changes the sound drastically which although would give tempo stretch, is probably ties to it thinking it's 120 bpm (and not 60)?
Yet it was recorded at 60 bpm.
The catch-22 is that the ALU can't recognize my tempo and if I change it (via choosing "looping", the only way to correct the beats btw) it messes with the sound because it's twice as fast.
Otherwise, as a non-loop, I'm stuck with only 60 bpm (even though it has "time data" to import) -

The applications that were downloaded are licensed to this old Apple ID. Any updates that need to be processed for these apps will need to be processed using this Apple ID password.
