Midi in port prob

I've a SB li've 5. pro
There is the problem
When I open the keyBoard in audio HQ and I choose in the option menu (select midi in) midi port SBli've (FFE0)
the keyboard play alone the indecifrable sound and the system crash.
I've reinstalled the new and the old dri've but the problem continue
Please help me

The midi in port did not work properly so they just took it away (without updating their documentation. . .). See bugg report 4306928 "broken".
That the mid-in does not work seems to be a fatal flaw in JMF: It is reported in bug 4354651 which is a duplicate of 4423930.
However I have also found bug reports 4204354 and 4353646 which seems to adress
the same bug and I guess there could be more bug reports out there because of
the basic need of a midi-in port.
Does anyone out there know how we can make Sun collect all related bugs and THEIR VOTES
into one bug report?
Perhaps more votes will make Sun address this important function - it has stopped my
ideas of a small application - I NEED A WORKING MIDI IN!!
Do not know of any third party alternatives - where are they?

  • Midi in port

    I do not the info object for the MIDI IN port with a call such as this:
    MidiDevice.Info[] midiDeviceInfos = MidiSystem.getMidiDeviceInfo();
    I am using Sound blaster live, Windows 98 second edition.
    Note, I do get the OUT port: "SB Live! MIDI Out [10E0]" and syntheziers etc etc
    Is this a bug or should I try to access the midi IN port in some other way?
    I know my midi in port works because I can run my ordinary music program with it.
    The call MidiSystem.getTransmitter(); does not yield the midi in port either.

  • No Midi-Game port on the X-FI sound ca

    Before buying any of the "X-FI Sound Cards" I've noticed that the X-FI sound cards do not have a Midi-Game Port on the card itself. My current sound card "Audigy 2" does has one.
    How is one to use these sound cards with a midi keyboard without buying extra devices, such as the X-Fi I/O Dri've?Is there a way to use the mainboard game port via X-FI sound card? Has this ever been tried?
    Thanks!

    Since the MIDI data is a sort of control data only, it's all the same which MIDI port are you using for to connect the keyboard controller into your PC. If your motheboard do have a MIDI port then just use it. Otherwise, you need to buy a USB MIDI Interface to get the keyboard hooked.
    USB MIDI Interfaces are not very expensi've - street prices starts from around $40US.

    Also, it's possible that you keep the Audigy plugged and use it's MIDI controller only (disable the card itself (and it's IEEE394 controller if there is one) through Device Manager and left the Game/MIDI Controller into use.

  • MIDI / Game Port w

    I bought an Audigy Z2S Platinum card around Christmas time, and I'm just now trying to use the MIDI interface with my Roland EP-90. I'm unable to get any MIDI input or output at all.
    I found the "MIDI - General Information and Essential Troubleshooting" guide in the KnowledgeBase, and I'm not able to get the SoundFont Bank Manager to play along with a MIDI file playing from the Creative Media Source. If I'm reading correctly, my MIDI source should be Sound Blaster Audigy MIDI Port [XXXX] (as opposed to MIDI Port 2) since I'm using the game port. (Though I did try both). The KnowledgeBase article references a configuration item I can't seem to locate on my PC:
    Control Panel -> AudioHQ -> Keyboard -- I only have 'Device Controls' and 'EAX Configuration' -- though I'm not sure if this Keyboard option should be the same as the SoundFont Bank Manager.
    Every other function of the sound card I've tested is fully functional, I've triple-checked that all my inputs are on and not muted, and that the MIDI Port was consistent between Windows and the applications, etc. Anyone ideas what else I might try? Thanks in advance.

  • Ports probe shows "Closed"  not "stealth"

    Hello. I just installed an Airport Extreme Wireless and when I go to GRC Reports and scan my ports...most are reported as "closed". How do I program the router to hide or "stealth" my ports? All previous routers I've used made my ports "stealth"...I bought the Airport router for the USB hard disk option...but don't want my computer or router responding to pings n probes!

    I have the same problem, all ports closed with the exclusion of port 53 open.
    You can try port forwarding to stealth your Airport.
    Go to GRC MP3 Open Ports for more info: http://media.grc.com/sn/SN-043-lq.mp3 and also NAT Traversal: http://media.grc.com/sn/SN-042-lq.mp3

  • Midi/audio sync prob after sblive to audigy 2zs upgrade

    Have posted the following earlier today in Soundblaster forum - then thought it may be better off here.....
    Hi all - have just had to quickly buy new soundcard as main line-out on sblive gave up the ghost, after years of no probs. Bought Audigy 2zs, as thought this would not be too much of a shock for ageing AMDk6 450mhz running Win98se. (Am waiting for new pc music system.) Installed Audigy, using 1xm1n's excellent set-up guide, and thought everything was ok. However, when running sequencer, the midi tracks are fine, while the audio slowly goes out of sync. Can anybody explain what's happening? Would not normally panic, and wait for new pc, but have a deadline to finish project for the Barmy Army !!
    Seriously thinking of reinstalling sblive, and using the rear line-outs to monitor on - but line-in & mic will then not work. Also was hoping the Audigy ASIO drivers would let me do the final mix in Cubase.
    Did I mention the odd crackle & pop....? .....Aaaaaaargh!!
    Regards.

    Jason,
    Yes I tried pulling card. What has happened.
    . Card was "re-found" by windows for no reason which started the problems.
    2. I deleted driver in control panel, shutdown and pulled card, rebooted again with no card.
    3. Put the card back and rebooted again and at that point it showed as Audigy ZS, although it did not look like all functionality was there as before.
    4. So I installed the new January 06 drivers. Seemed to go okay.
    5. Upon reboot, came up as Creative Audigy Audio Processor" again. However things "worked" for a while. The mixer came up, etc.
    6. Seemed to be working, then stopped working (no sound)....and upon a reboot, was re-found again and was using old generic drivers from 2003. And was no longer called a ZS.
    7. EDIT: Important, in the "sound and audio" devices in control panel, it is listed as an EMU0k (or some such designation) which I understand may mean the card has gone bad.
    8. The network fiber connection also periodically came up as yellow exclamation mark or working based on what was going on above.
    It appears that these problems may be symptoms the card is going bad based on some other posts I found? Something about a scrambled EPROM? I do have a new unused Audigy ZS card I can try.
    What is the best approach to put in another ZS. Delete the driver, shutdown, pull the card and put the new one in? And of course plug in the breakout box to it. Will it "find" the new January 06 drivers upon install or will I have to re-install those again on this new card. I know it is the same card but I assume the ID will be different.
    If I need to re-install the drivers, do I just re-run the install or do I need to run CTZAP etc. first? I already have all the applications loaded off the original CD and would prefer not to have to do all that again...
    Thanks again,

  • Midi/audio sync prob after sblive to audigy 2sz upgr

    Regards.

    I just purchased the SB Li've 24 Bit USB today. The quality of the device was impressi've but I also was having sync issues. My guess is that the problem is with the limited bandwidth of the . USB connection. To resolve the issue, I installed all the most current critical updates. With one of them came a tool called 'Device Control'. I reduced the sampling quality to 44. KhZ from 44.8 and also reduced the bit depth to 6. Next I disabled monitoring. Additionally, the device I was using for playback during recording I reduced to the lowset possible sampling quality (which was about 22KhZ). I was able to record for 3 minutes at 44.KhZ with no sync issues. I recommend anyone who plans on using this device for recording follow this procedure.

  • How do I clear midi device port name cache?

    My Behringer BCF2000 suddenly started showing it's Midi port name as "BCF2000" instead of "Port 1" "Port 2" and "Port 3". The same device on another mac shows the three ports correctly, then back on the confused mac it shows the one port and with the wrong name.
    I've tried spotlighting "audio midi plist" and deleting all those, also tried a new AMS configuration, neither worked.
    Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Otherwise where is this kind of device naming stored in the file system?
    Thanks!

  • Serial port prob

    Hi,
    I'm testing some application using javax.comm.* serial communication package.
    Problem some data is missing after some time connection, any one have any clue?
    Below is the code snippet.
    ====================
    Open Connection
    =============
    public void openConnection() throws SerialConnectionException {
              // Obtain a CommPortIdentifier object for the port you want to open.
              try {
                   portId = CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifier(parameters
                             .getPortName());
              } catch (NoSuchPortException e) {
                   throw new SerialConnectionException(e.getMessage());
              // Open the port represented by the CommPortIdentifier object. Give
              // the open call a relatively long timeout of 30 seconds to allow
              // a different application to reliquish the port if the user
              // wants to.
              try {
                   sPort = (SerialPort) portId.open("SerialDemo", 30000);
              } catch (PortInUseException e) {
                   throw new SerialConnectionException(e.getMessage());
              // Set the parameters of the connection. If they won't set, close the
              // port before throwing an exception.
              try {
                   setConnectionParameters();
              } catch (SerialConnectionException e) {
                   sPort.close();
                   throw e;
              // Open the input and output streams for the connection. If they won't
              // open, close the port before throwing an exception.
              try {
                   sPort.setInputBufferSize(999999999);
                   os = sPort.getOutputStream();
                   is = sPort.getInputStream();
                   dis = new DataInputStream(is);
              } catch (IOException e) {
                   sPort.close();
                   throw new SerialConnectionException("Error opening i/o streams");
              // Create a new KeyHandler to respond to key strokes in the
              // messageAreaOut. Add the KeyHandler as a keyListener to the
              // messageAreaOut.
              keyHandler = new KeyHandler(os);
              messageAreaOut.addKeyListener(keyHandler);
              // Add this object as an event listener for the serial port.
              try {
                   sPort.addEventListener(this);
              } catch (TooManyListenersException e) {
                   sPort.close();
                   throw new SerialConnectionException("too many listeners added");
              // Set notifyOnDataAvailable to true to allow event driven input.
              sPort.notifyOnDataAvailable(true);
              // Set notifyOnBreakInterrup to allow event driven break handling.
              sPort.notifyOnBreakInterrupt(true);
              // Set receive timeout to allow breaking out of polling loop during
              // input handling.
              try {
              sPort.enableReceiveTimeout(30);
              } catch (UnsupportedCommOperationException e) {
              // Add ownership listener to allow ownership event handling.
              portId.addPortOwnershipListener(this);

    Placing a delay is not the solution.
    Have a look at the code snippet that I posted here:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Reading-time-interval-of-serial-port/m-p/1529140#M568806
    The modified code is also attached in that post.
    The solution is to place the serial read inside a loop which continues to read until there is no more data in the buffer.

  • Mid tier port (infra)

    Dear all,
    We have oas 10.1.2.0.2 (Middle tier + OID) installed in sun solaris. We changed the OID port to 389 to 13016 as we uninstalled and install it again. Now since the middle tier is configured with the old oid port.. it is unable to start. I tried changing the port number using as console of middle tier as the first step asked
    to enter the hostname and port number (I entered hostname and port number 13016) .When I click next and I entered OIDADMIN password, but sit errors out
    Error authenticating user. [LDAP: error code 49 - Invalid Credentials]
    I can be able to connect oid using orcladmin and the above password. How do I proceed with the above ?
    Kai

    Hi,
    You check first the Oracle Application Server Concept and Administrator's Guide and then try to do this port migration.
    You should check the $INFRA_HOME/install/portlist.ini files for the ports.
    Please provide the details of the steps you followed.
    Regards,

  • Disconnecting from usb port prob

    I have a brand new muvo micro 52 mb black Mp3. I was transfering songs to it via the usb port. When I disconnected it as the player guide states, the symbol that shows up on the screen while it is hooked up, will not go away and it will not power up, can anybody help? I have had it 2 days and transferred a few songs and it worked fine.

    A number of us have had this same problem (see thread entitled "Muvo Freezing Up" from AGreg in this forum). It seems to happen regardless of hardware. One person suggested that he believed it was caused by removing the USB cord from the player before removing the cord from the computer. It appears the plug into the computer should be removed first.
    Please post anything you learn about this. It's ridiculous that the order in which one removes the different ends of the USB cord has an effect on the proper function of the player. I am not aware of any other device that reacts this way (including my bottom-of-the-line digital camera).
    I exchanged my first player (like yours, an N200 52MB); if I have the same problem, I'm returning it and getting something with more technical sophistication. I know these things aren't supposed to be fancy, but they should at least work.
    Cheers.

  • Macbook pro15 retina mid 2012 bootcamp probs

    Hi everyone!
    i just installed windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my 15 inch macbook pro retina mid 2012,
    After i installed the bootcam 5 driver from Apple website, i have some problem such as:
    - My internet connection drop after a few minutes the reconnect than drop..... It's said no internet connection. It's not happen when i'm on MacOS Maverick just when i'm in Windows.
    - When i try to install graphic card driver, it's said " failed to install " i have to download from the NVIDIA website but it seem not to work very well.
    When i'm playing game on windows 7 it's Lag and jiggle even with Lowest setting. I did searched over the internet and found out that it's a common problem for this Macbook pro retina mid 2012, it's believed that problem happened due to the bootcamp driver for windows but Apple still have no response to fix this.
    My macbook pro has 16 Gb ram and 1 Gb GT650M, so i believed that it couldnt happen like this if i'm playing game in lowest setting.
    Anyone have any suggestion on how i can fix those problems? It's very annoying when it's keep disconnecting to the internet

  • Zen Micro Headphone port prob

    i have had an 5GB Zen micro for half a year now since my first one completly failed after updating the firmware. The current one i have the headphone port is becomin less reliable since 26/02/06 and this mostly seems to happen when i put it in my pocket, which mostly happens during leason and n my 6th form common room and on my bus and when i do put it in my pocket the sound quality instently degrades to low volume also if i nudge the socket at all the same problem happens. what should i do ask Creative to repair it or return the product to currys and get a replacment??

    This is a known problem with the zen micro... Because its oviously a manufacturer defect, You need to contact customer support and demand that your micro is repaired or replaced immediately...
    If the warranty for the micro is the same as the neeon, then you should have about half a year left on it... so dont let them give ya that "out of warranty" crap either...

  • Using multiple MIDI in and out ports... is there a any solution?

    Hi Guys,
    I've been using Logic Pro for about 3 or 4 years, and have always struggled with the fact that when using external MIDI instruments, there are not separate drop-down menus for PORT IN and PORT OUT, where I could choose which port would be used on my MIDI interface.
    I was previously a Cubase user, and it had these two ports, so I could easily choose, for example: "MIDI IN: Port B" and "MIDI OUT: Port C", and MIDI would be routed to those ports.
    Logic only has one drop-down for selecting ports, and that is for the outgoing MIDI signal only.
    My problem is that when we want to record say two synths at the same time, each on its own MIDI track, the incoming signals are blended and played on both active tracks.
    There IS a tick-box option in Project Settings, called Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording, but this only works when all the channels in question are armed for recording. If we are just jamming ideas (but want to have MIDI set up ready to record... therefore local is off on each synth, etc...), it appears there is no way to separate the incoming MIDI signals so they only go back to their respective ports.
    This issue has now compounded with the addition of two new synths in my studio... suddenly it's even more crucial to be able to easily separate the MIDI ports for each of the four synths.
    I have never delved into the Environment, but was chatting to the guys in the music store I go to, and they were saying there might be a way of setting up the specific MIDI routing I am looking for, in the Environment.
    I would love any assistance you could give me. This has become such a frustration that I have even looked at moving back to Cubase (but the way it handles lots of tracks at low latency on Mac is stopping me, at the moment! The trial version showed this up as a real issue, compared to Logic!).
    I am of course secretly hoping that Logic Pro 10 will have a re-thought MIDI setup, with simple in and out port drop-downs for each MIDI track. But that's a long shot, and Logic 10 could still be ages away!
    Any help an experienced user can offer me would really be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • Changing MIDI Port Order is wreaking havoc on my Environment

    Anyone seen this before?
    I've got a MOTU Midi Express with 4 ins and outs - it's my main interface.
    I've also got a Novation Remote25SL which works as a control surface/controller with 3 out ports. It requires some special Environment cabling to work properly with Logic.
    Everything was working fine until lately all my projects stopped responding to MIDI from my master keyboard...
    I eventually discovered it was because Logic had some how changed the order of MIDI ports. It used to be "Midi Express 1.... 4" followed by "Remote25SL 1...3".
    Now if I look at the "outputs & Ports" page in the Environment, it's reversed. "Remote25SL 1...3" followed by "Midi Express 1....4".
    So what? Well, the dumb cables in the environment don't move when the ports do. So the cables that used to be connected to the Remote25SL are now connected to the Motu Midi Express, which wreaks havoc on my project.
    Any ideas a) what causes this, and b) how to re-order the ports so it goes back the way it was before?
    I've tried messing around in the AudioMidi setup tool but don't see any thing here that will help.
    It points up, I think, a flaw in Logic's "logic". Environment cables should be tied to physical/logical ports, not just handed out on a 'first come, first serve' to whoever shows up on the midi bus first. The system apparently can "see" the difference between the Motu and the Novation. So why can't Logic?
    Grrr. Time to start reading the Nuendo brochures again.

    I HAVE A SOLUTION
    and it works fine for me after a series of trial and error experiments.
    Quit Logic (for now) and do the following.
    1) Download the app MidiPipe from this site:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/midipipe.html
    2) Plug in all of your MIDI controllers (I mean, all of them)
    3) Start making one 'pipe' at a time. Think of them as 'rules' for MIDI flow.
    I wish I could post screen shots here... I can show you that I have 6 'pipes' happening.
    Why: I have these controllers (according to Logic) happening:
    Korg nanoKEYS, nanoPAD, nanoKONTROL; Alesis Photon X25; midiman (now M-Audio) midisport 2x2; Tascam US-144 (the MIDI portion)
    4) In these pipes, ONE AT A TIME, these pipes are very simple:
    -drag a •Midi In for each controller,
    -click the 'hijack' button.
    -drag a •Midi Out next,
    -create a new virtual Midi Out Port and name it. In my case I went numerically (e.g. 1 nanoPAD, 2 nanoKEYS...) just so I can see the port name is different than the input. Do what works for you here
    5) Create a new pipe, redo step 4 until you've created a new pipe for every controller you have.
    Save this Midipipe file, and open it prior to any Logic session, before you open Logic.
    6) Open Logic. In the global preferences, go to Controller Assignments (Command-K)
    and you'll have to define any custom controller data (this may not be necessary for you). But I had to change the controller listening port for all nanoKONTROL assignments. You may not have to do anything here at all.
    7) In the case of the folks trying to use two (or more) controllers, as in three keyboards at a time you still have to change one setting: and unfortunately this is not global for Logic, you'll have to change it every single project:
    -Under File>Project Settings>Recording, you need to check the box that says
    "Auto Demix by channel if multitrack recording"
    -For each virtual instrument, you need to set the Midi Channel it responds to. Generally on the left above your channel strip, named Inst 1 (2, 3, 4, ...) depending on which track you're on, click the drop-triangle and you'll see: MIDI Channel: ALL --- change it to whatever you assigned your controller to
    -After you've assigned those MIDI Channe;s per track; now arm each track you wish to record onto (or play, trigger, etc) ---arm meaning 'click the R so it's red'
    You should be good to go!
    To boil it down to simply: download MidiPipe, figure it out, define controller data if necessary, check Demix by Channel in Project Settings, Set each track's Midi Channel, Arm each track, record two (or more) parts at once.
    You'll spend 30 minutes or more figuring out MidiPipe for your setup (less if you're brilliant); anywheres up to an hour or more in Controller Assignments but you may not need to do anything here); and less than a minute for the rest. Do the heavy work once (and tweak it) -- after that, the checkboxes/Midi Channel assignments/track arming is like, 10 clicks every project.
    Good luck!
    Works great for me with this setup:
    all the controllers listed above, Logic 8.0.2, iMac 2.4Ghz, OSX 10.5.6
