Midi merge per track?

Hi guys,
I've recorded kick drum, snare and some hi-hats onto the same instrument track in Logic.
Manually. That is, first the kick, then the snare and finally the hats.
Now I have three MIDI regions, one above the other, on the "same" instrument track.
Imagine my surprise when I inspected the MIDI region on top, and could only see the hihats while kick and snare were sounding, too.
Of course, I want all three in the same MIDI region for easier editing etc.
Isn't there an easy way I can accomplish this? I f ound the function called merge midi per track, but it didn't do what I expected
Anyone shed some light?

In "Overlapping Recordings", found under MIDI, select "Merge with selected regions".

Audio and Midi Jumping/Swithching Tracks in Arrange Window

I've had an issue with audio and Midi information switching tracks in the arrange window. Granted, I'm new with Logic. But as I'm working in an audio Track (let's say track 3), I happen to undo a record pass or delete something, and the next thing I know, all the tracks have jumped up one -- so the Midi drums in track 10 are in nine, playing the piano insert. The Midi Piano is up in 8 doing nothing (because track 8 is an audio track), etc. etc. etc. Very annoying -- even when the tracks are frozen.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.

30¢ per track for the privilege to upgrade them, seriously

I am getting this right. No matter what the price (what you paid vs. what it is now) I have to pay 30¢ PER TRACK to get DRM-free and 256k?
When I purchased an album it was $9.99 at 128k and DRM'd. Now the same album is $9.99 at 256 and is DRM-free but I have to pay 30¢ PER TRACK. That just isn't right. How is that money going to the artist? The additional 30¢ cannot be justified.
I accepted it for a few albums early on when their price was more than I originally paid. If I bought an album for $9.99 (128k DRM'd) that was now selling for $12.99 (256k DRM-free) I could grudgingly justify paying $3.00 to upgrade the album. But not if they are the same price.
Am I missing something here?
Do I need to wait until Apple updates their site to see free DRM-free updates to track I've previously purchased?

Unfortunately, early adopters always come up short when something better comes along. Even worse, when it comes to digital music, legal purchasers have been burned for years. People who bought music legally were shackled with restrictive files while people who don't buy music download HQ mp3's they can use for any device.
I think it would have been great if the labels said "Hey, everyone who bought our music legally, free one-time upgrade of your current DRM'd tracks."
But, that's a pipe dream. Apple wanted to go DRM free years ago, this is the labels' doing. However, why can't we upgrade individual albums or tracks? Terrible implementation. It will cost me nearly a grand to upgrade my library, and then I'll have to re-tag and organize my downloads, as iTunes downloads aren't always tagged to my liking. Being able to upgrade individually would help me do a few at a time. I mean, I downloaded a "Complete" set that is over 500 songs and cost $189... now I have to pay another $175 dollars to upgrade it? There is a huge logical flaw here.
I understand that not everything is free and something better is always around the corner with anything you buy, but still.

Multiple Covers per Track/Album

I havent found the clue, so now my problem.
I add two or more Album Cover Artworks (back and front)to my Tracks or Albums through the drag and drop area.
In iTunes 6 no Problems with that. In iTunes 7 (nearly) impossible. When i drop the cover in the "drag ´n drop" area nothing happens. When i open the inforamtion dialog i can add them. But only one. If i add the second with this method the first is gone.
The third way is to add them in the cover tab, but per Track. unuseable.
What can i do ? Is there any clue i can do ?

There's nothing official from Apple yet.
To be honest, I've never seen a to-do list of Apple software.
Sometimes a "This document will be updated when more information comes available" or something like that, can be read in a KB-article.
This could mean they're working on a fix, but I've never read "This will be fixed" or "It's on the list".

Are your MC Mix in Eucon mode? If you use a midi mode, there's a possibility the MC Mix is sending MIDI messages. And are you sure we're talking midi parts and not automation?

Merge audio tracks in QT Pro?

I have a .mov file (created by capturing video in quicktime pro with a video camera attached by firewire) which has somehow ended up with multiple audio tracks, all starting at different points. (How that happened is a complete mystery to me, but is kind of beside the point right now, though I wouldn't mind knowing that too). Each audio track seems to pick up where the last left off (as in, if you delete one, there is no longer sound for a certain portion of the video). I need to merge these tracks into one audio track, because Final Cut Express HD is giving me errors when I try to import these many-track files. I know I could solve it by just using export or save as..., but I'm really trying to avoid that if possible because I have about 20 clips like this, some as long as 5 hours, and that would take a ton of time and effort.
So, is there any way to just merge the audio tracks into one track, without doing an export?

is there a way to have alll 6 open and then combine or merge them into one file that I can play on ATV?
for this strategy, I would normally use the free MPEG Streamclip application. To begin, ensure the files are named alpha-numerically in the order in which you want them merged. Then open the MPEG Streamclip application and either "drag 'n drop" all six files to the work area or use the "Open Files..." File menu option to simultaneously select/open all six files. Lastly, export the merged file to the TV preset at the correct aspect ratio/dimensions and/or custom settings desired.
I have done the above but have a audio out of sync problem with it.
You could try pre-converting all AVI files to a common compression format like DV with the "Resample Audio to 48 Khz" and see if this prevents drift during the "merging" and final conversion process.

Need to merge multiple tracks down to avoid choppy playback.

I have Adobe Premier Elements 9. I'm creating a music video from several takes recorded over a couple of hours, and have started lining the different tracks one on top of the other. I find that by the third track, even with a 6 core processor and 8 GB of memory, that the playback is so choppy as to be unworkable. I know I can Render the Timeline to get a smooth flow again, but as soon as I change one little piece it again becomes insanely choppy. I thought I saw a way to merge the tracks down, but now I can't find how to do that, and I'm not even sure that that's the best solution to the problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the follow up. First let us see if we can find Premiere Elements 11.
1. Have you gone to Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall A Program and looked through the list of installed programs, searching for Premiere Elements 11 which should have a file size of about 1.23 GB. If it is not there, it is not installed.
2. If you do see it in the Control Panel area just described, then close out of there and head for
Local Disk C
Program Files, not Program Files (x86)...assuming a Windows 7 or 8 64 bit computer
Adobe
Premiere Elements 11 (is it there?)
If it is, then look for the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file and create a desktop shortcut for it. DO NOT SELECT Adobe Premiere Elements 11.exe.
If not, when you were installing it, did you ask for a different save location for it other the Adobe default? If not, as it progressed in the installation, did you watch it progress from beginning to end. Was there ever any evidence that somewhere along the line the install stopped and rolled back?
When you installed the download, did you disable the firewalls and antivirus?
Depending on how things go,
a. make sure there are no signs of Premiere Elements 11 installed. Put the Premiere Elements 11 installation files in a safe place.
b. use ccleaner on your computer, both regular and registry type

c. When you feel confident that the computer is as optimized as possible, then try to install Premiere Elements 11.

I imported a CD that I had burned previously with the 2 tracks of sound effects that I had downloaded from the internet (MP3 files), but I did not see an option to join the tracks when I imported the CD. In the upper right corner there were three buttons: Options, CD Info, and Import CD. When I click on Options, the drop-down menu has two choices: "Get Track Names" and "Submit CD Track Names". I cannot find an option to Join Tracks. Help!

Output settings per track

I have a MOTU Traveler and I'm trying to output garageband tracks to my external mixer via the optical outs (into an adat, then into the mixing board).
I have been able to get this to work with audiodesk (which came with the traveler), but I can't find where I can select optical outputs for individual tracks within Garageband.
Does GB2 have this capability? If so how do I select outputs per track. If not, does GB3 have it? Thanks much!

Hi, this means of course that you have to make your final mix in GB. Take care of all your levels and EQ etc. in GB before exporting your mastered file.

Merge Video Tracks Shortcut

Dangnabbit, I have been trying to find the keyboard shortcut to merge video tracks in FCP 7.( I want to lower V2 and V3 into V1 on a significant sequence) I know it involves the "down arrow" but I'm at a loss.

No, actually I'm hoping to retain the individual clips. The Opt-C command makes them into a single clip. The post house I'm delivering to asked for a single video track but we need the cuts to remain seperate for the color correction process. Does that make sense? I'm a bit of a noob both at FCP and the forums.

Bounce per track?

Hi, does anyone know if its possible to bounce per track (realtime).
I mix in Protools and need each track seperatly, but soloing each track, then bounce for 3+ minutes, and solo the next (repeat this 30+ times) is becomming a drag, and pretty time consuming...
I'm running Express though, maybe this is a Pro option...

Why is the price per track in UK 79p and in the German Store .99Euro - obviously much cheaper in Germany?

Well basicly its due to the different currency and the deals signed by contract in those countries.
I live in the US and don't know much about UK tax laws and all but I have seen people from the UK say its due to some tax, something to do witht he EU in the UK or something. From what I hear UK people are taxed to death.
Here in the US its based on what state you live in, some states charge a online tax, others don't, so maybe its a issue something like that

IPod freezes mid-way through tracks

starting this morning, my iPod started randomly freezing mid-way through tracks. the track will continue to play, but the bar tracking the duration stops advancing. when the track ends it stops. when i touch the buttons or wheel nothing happens. to play music again i have to reset the ipod. sometimes it repeats this problem in an hour, sometimes i get several hours of use before it freezes again.
this happened with my previous ipod, in early 2006, and after a month the internal disc stopped working and i had to trade it in and buy this one. can i fix it now, or am i doomed to lose an ipod a year, just after the warranty ends?

Try disabling hard disk use.
(Itunes -> Edit -> Preferences -> Ipod -> General)
I've tried most of the answers suggested on these discussion boards - I've restored to factory settings (several times), I've tried running chkdsk on the Ipod from Windows XP, I've rolled back to ITunes v4 (the one on the cd I got with the Ipod) and none of them worked.
Then I just unchecked the box to allow the Ipod to be used as a hard disk and (so far) that seems to have done the trick (I've played several albums without any skipping or freezing so far).
I'm still on Itunes v4. I'll try upgrading to v5 or v6 and see if it still works.
