  • Help please! Need to restore my OSX Midi Network driver!

Hello friends, this is the first time i write you guys here.
But heck, i've solved hundreds of problems just reading these boards for some years now!
So yeah, i have been a Touchdaw user for some months and everything went great until
a couple days ago it broke/froze up, even crashing my audio midi setup issue that i managed
to fix (thanks to you guys) by deleting some plist around.
But when i came back today, to set everything up again, i found that there's no NETWORK
icon on the audiomidi setup anymore.
Thing is i can't actually find a single post about this issue anywhere on the web
Someone said that deleting the "com.apple.midi.netsetup" file would restore everything
but..bingo, there's no such file where i believe it used to exist before the crash.
My guess is i need to restore this file somehow, or install a "midi network driver"??
I seriously need this to work again, all my midi instruments are in another room, now i can't
record as comfortable as it used to be with  the wireless network and it's making me lose a bunch of time!
    2012 Mac Pro 10.7.5 OSX
I hope someone can help me! — Thanks in advance!!
    Please excuse my english,
    Jesús

    Hello Cheeky,
Unfortunately, i haven't found info about this issue and i had to move a couple keyboards into the control room.
I guess i'll have to reinstall my OS, but there's a lot of things that could go wrong...:( i don't know.
Everything would be cute again if the network thingy appeared :'(

  • Getting Apple's "Midi Network" to work

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro computer to work as a wonderful "slave computer". Basically, because I extensively use the "CPU & Memory hog" Kontakt/Kontakt Player programs, I purchased the new MacBook Pro to divide the work load. So far, it's proven to do this nicely! The MacBook Pro is a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB's of SDRAM running on Leopard 10.5.4. I have an external hard disk drive which houses all of the instrumental sound libraries. The external hard disk drive is connected to the MacBook Pro using an eSATA connector. The audio device used is a new MOTU 828 MK3.
My older Mac Pro workstation is noted below. Please note that I have not upgraded the older Mac Pro workstation to Leopard YET. Although I do plan on upgrading the operating system, things are working quite fine using 10.4.11. I use M-Audio's Keystation Pro 88, connected to the older Mac Pro workstation, as the midi controller.
    The issue. . .
I can't get the Apple Midi Network to work between the two Apple computers. They both seem to see each other, but midi information does not seem to be transferred between the two computers.
At present, I have both networked via a NETGEAR 8 Port 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Switch. This is so that I can have access to the Internet. Now, I am able to transfer files between the two computers. Both computers seem to "see" each other using this network method.
For the MacBook Pro, I am using a CAT6 ethernet cable. I think that this is also true for the older Mac Pro workstation.
I believe that I am configuring the "Midi Network" function correctly. I can see it via the Logic Pro 8.02 program (in the Environment).
Finally. . . I am able to use Music Lab's MidiOverLan CP3 between the two Apple computers!! This is solid! Why, though, am I NOT able to get Apple's "Midi Network" to work?? Am I misunderstanding its function?? Does it not work when one computer is operating under Leopard and the other (older) computer is using the older version?? Could it be the CAT 6 cables?? The NETGEAR switch??
At present, I am happy using the MidiOverLan CP3 program to communicate midi information between the two computers. It would be nice to be able to correctly use Apple's own software, though. (Maybe it's user error??)
    Thank you in advance.

Several months ago, I DID get this feature to work...And I'm sorry, I don't remember exactly what I did. It took several attempts. I linked my intel and PPC mactogether.
The problem was, there was too much of delay to make this a useful feature for realtime recording. I was trying to play a virtual instrument, that was a PPC plug-in while recording on a newer macpro..
If you were willing to create 'scratch' tracks one computer, using native Logic plugins, until you had all the midi data right. and then wanted to port midi over to the 2nd computer, and create a more detailed sound to port back into your 2nd computer, it CAN be done. but like I said the delay was too much..(I couldn't get it to be a realtime feature)
There was a 'delay adjustment' feature, in the midi, but I couldn't get that to be useful. If you have plug-ins that you absolutely can't live without, you can try this, but I found it to be too much trouble, and there were some computer lockups involved.

  • Midi Network ... How does one set it up?

I've been trying to set up a simple midi network between my main computer and my laptop. Thus far I can't get anything to work. The instruction are NOT clear at all .. about how to set up a connection .. or at least what one needs to do for both machines. Can some kind soul please suggest what I need to do to make this work.
Everytime I try it I get "Can't connect" .. even though sessions on both systems are recognized .. so I know the ethernet is working fine .. but I can't get this to work.
    Hope someone can help.
    Tah
    Heto

I used the instructions found here, which worked perfectly. I networked my Powerbook G4 and my iMac and used instruments loaded into RAX on my powerbook"

  • WiFi MIDI network setup is terribly slow

    Hi all
    What i have:
    1. macmini (late 2012)
    2. ipad 4
What i need - i need to create WiFi MIDI network for some music creation process.
    The problem:
When i open MIDI Studio window and then click on Network - is nothing happened. But MIDI Studio is no responsive. ( i see color-wheel cursor)
    This is long-long-long time.
Then it open window where i can setup network. I press connect to iRom (it my iPad) and waiting again. 5 or 12 seconds before it connect..
    The question:
How can i do that process faster as possible ? Why MIDI Studio all times try to find something.
This is the same iPad and Same macmini all times when i run that. But all times it waiting something, and i waiting also.
How can i speed up that? May be this is WiFi problem and i need some cable?
    Thanks!

    Is problem partially solved:
This is occur because OSX have a two connections in one time:
    1. - wired Ethernet connected to router
    2. - WiFi for connecting to iPad
When i disable Ethernet - the MIDI Network setup work really fast.
But now i have another question: How i can use both Ethernet + WiFi, without this terribly stuck ?

  • Midi network setup

    I followed the directions
"To set up a MIDI network session:
Click MIDI Devices in Audio MIDI Setup.
Double-click the Network icon in the MIDI devices panel.
In the Network Setup dialog, click the Add button below the My Sessions list to create a new session.
In the Sessions pane, specify the network computer port to use, and a network name for your computer.
Below the Directory list, click the Add button to add the names and network addresses of any remote computers not on your local network that you want to participate in the session.
Specify which computers can connect to this session by choosing an option from the “Who may connect to me” pop-up menu.
To start a session, click Connect.
Computers actively participating in the session appear in the Participants list.
To set up live routings, choose the devices you want to share MIDI information from the Live Routings pop-up menus."
presseed conect and I got the following message,
192.168.1.100:5004 refused the connection request. (21:56:46)

    Hi Ron,
If you get properties for IAC Driver add many IAC Busses, then go to Network (MIDI device in Audio MIDI Setup) and set up some Bonjour MIDI Network sessions for each IAC Bus - you should be good to go, unless I misread you.

  • Is there a way to have automatic MIDI network connections?

I have an environment where I'm using an iPad with my own software to connect to a Mac and send MIDI data to it from time to time. I've used the Audio MIDI Setup app to configure the "Network MIDI" and it works fine, detecting my running iPad MIDI app. However, if I close my iPad app and reopen it even just a minute later, the Network MIDI connection is gone and I have to reopen Audio MIDI setup to restablish a connection.
I'd like for this to happen automatically if that's possible.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Audio midi network setup wrong interface

I am having difficulty establishing a wireless MIDI connection between my Macbook Pro (10.8) and my iPad.
When I open the Audio MIDI setup application and go to MIDI Studio and click Network, it detects my iPad, and I can supposedly connect to it, but nothing works. I look at the address which says:
    host-12:5006
    10.211.55.2:5006
    10.37.129.2:5006
However, both devices are on a network starting with 128.237....
When I run ipconfig, i see that these two adresses are coming from vnic0 and vnic1 which I traced back to Parallels.app--they are virtual interface devices for running windows, etc.
Basically, I get the feeling that Audio MIDI setup.app isn't getting the right ip addresses to function.
Or am I completely misunderstanding something here?
    Thanks

You can disable all the Parallels services temporarily by typing the following in Utilities/Terminal.app. It will ask for the root password.
      sudo launchctl stop com.parallels.desktop.launchdaemon
    To enable it again, enter:
      sudo launchctl start com.parallels.desktop.launchdaemon
The background services must be running for Parallels to run so remember they are back on when you're done with your audio session.

  • Losing my Audio Midi Network Connection with iPad

I have been trying to set up my iPad to connect to my Macbook Air over a computer-to-computer network to run a midi remote app called Midi Designer with Mainstage 2. The connection will work for a few minutes, but if there is no signal sent from the iPad for a minute then the connection is lost. I have my iPad set to never sleep, as well as my computer. Are there any other settings I need to change to keep the network active over longer periods of time?

I am having almost the same issue excpet my connection is lost within less than a minute. Have you had success since your post? If anyone has any suggestions, please do post!

  • Premiere Pro 2014 and MIDI Network Connections

I was thrilled to see that Premiere Pro introduced control surface connections a while back, but I was curious to know if there was any way to enable it to accept connections to wireless surfaces, iPads, etc. I can do it easily with Audition via Network Connection 1 and the Mackie protocol, but was curious to know if it's possible to make that kind of connection with Premiere Pro.
    Thanks!

  • My iPad2 does not appear in Network MIDI set up .... HELP!!

I have bought an ipad 2 to control Logic Pro with AC-7 core but I cannot get Network MIDI Setup to recognise my iPad 2.
I tried downloading rtp MIDI and trying to get Windows 7 to recognise my iPad 2 but still no luck.
I have tried creating an Adhoc network direct between my iPad 2 and my iMac .... no go!
I have downloaded Tildesoft Bonjour Browser to see if my iPad appears under Bonjour services and it doesn't?
I tried restoring my iPad 2 software .... still no help.
I checked my Netgear router and that shows my ipad 2 appearing as a device with the correct IP address but that as far as I can get,
I just cannot understand why my iPad 2 remains invisible to all my computers and network permutations.
I thought Bonjour was meant to be zero configuration technology!
Any help would be much appreciated

    OK found a solution.
    1. I logged out of my iMac and logged back in and did the same with my Windows laptops.
    2. I unplugged my Virgin cable router from the back of my Netgear wireless router as I had read that your ISP can interfere with setting up Network MIDI.
I'm not sure which one did it, if it was doing both these things but my iPad 2 now appears perfectly on my MIDI network and I can control Logic Pro 8 with AC-7 Core.
Once I had my iPad 2 working over my MIDI network I was able to plug my Virgin cable modem back into my Netgear router without it effecting my wireless MIDI network.

  • Networking MIDI signal problem (For GB3 on Intel iMac)

I've run in to the problem that m-audio has yet to put out drivers for my USB MIDI keyboard (Radium 61). As a work around I figured that I could set up a network connection from my iBook.
So I've got the Radium set up on the iBook, tested and working good. Now could someone tell me what's wrong with the rest of the set up?
On the iBook I've gone to MIDI Network Setup in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. I've made a new Session, enabled it and set the Live Routings top menu pop-down to the MIDI Device I want to send the signal form (in this case, the Radium) so it's set to the option "Radium Port 1". On the iMac I've got it a new Session started, and have connected with the iBook and set the Live routings Bottom pop-down to "Network *local name*" (in this case the local name is radium so it says "Network Radium").
Now Garageband says it has one midi connection but won't play any virtual instrument. If I check the enable box to turn it off, garageband alerts me that it has no inputs, if I turn it on I says it has one input, so I suspect that the issue is either on the iBook side of things or the connection. The Test MIDI Setup makes to noise on the iMac when it test it, but it works on the iBook end of things. Also the latency meter is showing nothing.
Anything I need to do different to set it up?

Just to give a little more info here. the Latancy meter is reading nothing. I figure the problem may be on the iBook side because i've found that checking the Enabled option on the iMac side of the set up makes garageband inform me of a change to either one input device is available or no input device is available.

  • Midi over Network

Is it possible to use the Midi over Network that's build into tiger with Logic Express? I've seen some users setups with Logic Pro but I can't get it to work with express.

sorry..I forgot to update my signature. I do have Tiger.
What I'm having a hard time with is getting midi into Logic. In the tutorial, the enviornment shows the individul "sessions" from the Midi Network but I don't get anything different then when I use my MidiMan usb device. I can't figure out how to get logic to connect...or maybe its not even working between the two machines...How can I test to make sure that the connection is working? the Midi Network Setup window shows both my machines and it allows me to "connect" but I never get any midi as far as I can tell.

  • MIDI over network/MIDI over FireWire

    Hi,
I'm running a MacBook with Leopard on it and I'm trying to send MIDI data between it and some older Macs. I've had no problem using the MIDI networking feature in OS X 10.4 on my PowerMac and getting it to connect to my laptop, but I'm also trying to get my old iBook, running OS X 10.3, to send MIDI data back and forth.
I would like it if there were an easy networking solution, but I would also settle for connecting the iBook to the PowerMac via FireWire if this is possible.
    What can I do?

I also would like to know this?
I have just heard that Leopard has its own built-in "Midi over Network"??
I have a Mac Pro (Leopard) a G5 (Tiger) and a New Macbook Pro (Leopard) and want to know the best way of connecting these via MIDI to each other?
Can this be done via Firewire? or LAN?
And does my Tiger Machine (Tiger for some older AU's) have this feature built in or download it??
Any steps how to set these up would be great..
