Midnight releases and Dark Souls II

I'm looking to pre-order the Black Armor edition of Dark Souls II, but I'm unsure which stores still have them in stock. The Best Buy store page lists them as available at seemingly all of their locations for in-store pickup, but considering they're sold out at every other major retailer I know of, that seems a little unlikely. Would BB accept pre-orders for BA and then just offer regular copies of the game at launch? Or am I guarenteed the BA edition if I buy the game while it still lists it online? I'd like to call my local store to verify its availability before I actually put down money, but every line I went through was automated.
Second question: Titanfall and Dark Souls II are being released on the same date. Retailers like Gamestop have allowed me to pick up games during a different game's release event in the past, would I be able to do that at Best Buy as well during a Titanfall midnight release?

If you pre-order the game online for in-store pickup you should expect that they will have it waiting for you as long as you are there within 8 days of the release. After that time the order will be cancelled and you will be refunded to your method of payment.
Best Buy will typically allow for purchase of other gaming-related items during a midnight game release, but you may wish to check with your local store for any guidelines specific to their location if this is something that would interest you. Follow the link below to find the midnight store list.

Why so few Midnight Releases?

I live in the central Texas area, San Marcos to be specific. Not a big town, but it is a big college town with a decent gaming commutinty. I originally pre- ordered all my games at gamestop, but long story short, I moved them all to best buy. I went to the Destiny midnight release and it was awesome. I was not doubting that with the launch of Halo MCC and AC Unity, that there would be another midnight release, but I double checked anyways. There is not a midnight release for my bestbuy. I was shocked to find this out. I checked which ones will be partcipating in the midnight release north and south of here and there is only 1 in San Antonio and 1 in Austin. That sounds very low to me.
Why are there so few of them in a big portion of Texas?What criteria are needed to be met to have a MIdnight Release?

Skyrim Midnight Release?

I asked my local Best Buy (Northglenn, CO) if they were having a midnight release and they said they wouldn't know until 2 weeks prior. Is this accurate? I'm trying to find where to pre-order from based on being able to pick it up at Midnight... yet I'd have to wait another week and a half or so to know for sure? I'm currently debating between Best Buy, Gamestop or Wal-Mart (which is open 24h anyway) for picking up the game.

Seriously, I second this idea... also in the MD region, but I think it'd be a great feature for Best Buy to post lists of stores where they're holding a midnight release for major new titles... particularly since it seems fewer Best Buy stores do this than some of the "gaming competitors" (e.g., Gamestop, who I've gone to in the past for midnight releases, but I'm kind of over giving them my business after a ridiculous hard-sell by their manager to save $5 by buying a game used... I don't feel like I should need to get into an argument in order to buy the merchandise I walked to the counter with.) Anyway, I'll start making phone calls after work today, but a post (or web site) listing Best Buy stores holding midnight releases would be awesome.

Destiny Midnight Opening and Release Week FAQ

Destiny finally releases on 9/9/14 and select Best Buy stores will be opening at 12:01 a.m. that night to let you be the first to play. To help answer any questions you may have about the midnight opening process and the release in general, we’ve put together this FAQ.
Midnight Opening Questions
Q: How do I know if my local store is participating in the midnight openings for Destiny?
A: You can visit BestBuy.com/GamingEvents to find all participating locations for the Destiny release. Once you’re there, select your state to view a list of participating locations in the selected state.
Q: If I pre-ordered Destiny either in-store or for Store Pickup can I go to any Best Buy that is having a midnight opening to pick up my reserved game?
A: If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com and your order is to be picked up at a Best Buy store it must be picked up from the location that you selected when you placed your pre-order. If you pre-ordered in-store, you will need to go to the location where your order was placed to pick up your game.
Q: Do I need to be at the midnight opening event at my location to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Destiny?
A: All pre-orders will be held for a specified number of days after launch so you do not need to attend the midnight opening. For BestBuy.com Store Pickup pre-orders, your items will be held for 8 days. For pre-orders placed in-store, your items will be held for 5 days. After those timeframes, any orders that have not been picked up will be made available for purchase to others.
Q: If I’m attending a midnight opening to pick up a pre-order, what do I need to bring with me?
A: If you placed your pre-order on BestBuy.com for Store Pickup, please bring the following:
Your government-issued photo ID
The credit or debit card used for the purchase (if a credit card was used)
Your order number
If you placed your pre-order in a store, please bring the following:

Q: What time should I arrive at the store on the night of the midnight opening?
A: The processing of pre-orders can begin at participating stores at 11:30 p.m. local time. While your pre-order may be processed before midnight, no copies of Destiny will be given to customers or allowed to leave the store until 12:01 a.m.
Q: I didn’t pre-order a copy of Destiny. Will I be able to show up at a midnight opening and purchase one?
A: Pre-ordered copies of the game will be held and processed first during the midnight opening. Any copies still available after all pre-orders are accounted for will be made available for purchase.
Q: Will I be able to get the advertised Destiny T-Shirt if I attend a midnight opening?
A: Our midnight opening stores will have a limited number of Destiny T-Shirts for those in attendance. These will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will only be available while supplies last. Stores will have sizes ranging from small to extra large of the shirt, but again, they are limited quantity and only available while supplies last.
General Release Questions
Q: I pre-ordered Destiny for Store Pickup. Will I receive an email when it is ready?
A: You should receive an email the day before release indicating your order is ready, but you will still need to wait until the release date of 9/9/14 to actually pick up the game.
Q: I pre-ordered the Digital Guardian Edition of Destiny. When will I receive my download?
A: The codes for the Digital Guardian Edition will begin to go out shortly after midnight CST on 9/9/14.
Q: How will I receive the Vanguard Armory pre-order bonus if I pre-ordered Destiny?
A: The codes for the Vanguard Armory pre-order bonus will be included in the packaging of the game.
Q: I am a My Best Buy member and should receive $10 in reward certificates for pre-ordering and purchasing Destiny. When should I receive this?
A: The 500 point bonus equal to $10 in reward certificates will post to your My Best Buy account within 15-20 days of the pre-order being fulfilled.
Q: There is an offer this week to get a free Gamers Club Unlocked Membership with the purchase of an Xbox One or PS4 console. Can I get this offer if I pre-ordered the Destiny PS4 Bundle?
A: If you pre-ordered this bundle and would like the free Unlocked membership, there are a couple ways to go about doing so.
If you placed your pre-order in-store with a deposit, the store should be able to add the membership to the pre-order redemption transaction.
If you pre-ordered for shipping or Store Pickup, your best option will be to fulfill your pre-order and then return and re-purchase it in-store with the Unlocked membership. This is to ensure that you still receive your $10 in reward certificates from our “Get $10” offer, provided you are a My Best Buy member, and because we are currently only able to process Unlocked membership enrollments in-store. If you are not a My Best Buy member and therefore not eligible for the “Get $10” offer, you could also cancel your pre-order and then purchase the console in-store with the Unlocked membership.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we aren't able to change the name associated with any pre-order. Friends and Family pickup options can also only be added to BestBuy.com orders at the time of checkout, and cannot be added once the order has been placed. You may, however, want to speak with a manager on duty at the store if you haven't already done so. While I cannot make any guarantees, they may be able to help you find an alternative solution.

Midnight Release Website Problem

While it's not a major issue as to if I purchase from BB or a particular store I'm very curious if the midnight release checking site is broken or if it's lack of information that I'm missing.
I'm trying to use this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/misc/best-buy-gaming-events/pcmcat183100050001.c?id=pcmcat183100050001&t... link provided by the Press Release but when you search a local store it just brings you to the local store of your choosing and doesn't specifically state yes or no. Is there supposed to be a banner that says if they are doing an event or is the whole search part broken from any proper midnight lauch information?
This wouldn't be a major issue if the store actually had some form of speedy phone service. I spent 20 minutes on hold for supposedly two customers on the line ahead of me and had no indication of getting closer to the store employee. My local store has combined the customer service desk and front registers so essentially the former dedicated customer service rep is now a normal cashier most of the day and I'm curious if this will make all attempts at good customer service and or quick phone answers for a quick simple question. During the whole current GCU promo in which customer service was trying to find out the proper way of ringing up the promo for me had EVERY customer in the store stareing at her like she was satan because she was the 2nd cashier and was doing a good job trying to assist me but I could imagine some CS feeling pressured by the various eyes and maybe provide lower customer service to move the line along. Also, with the holidays coming I can imagine the annoyance of dealing with the holiday lines grabbing my pre-order that I'm there for to play at release and not saving it for a Christmas gift.

Believe it or not, but the listings on this page are appearing as intended. When searching for locations in your area, only stores that have confirmed midnight opening events should appear in the drop-down menu that appears. Just keep in mind that store exclusions are subject to change without notice and that you should always contact your local store for full details before attending any midnight opening event.

Iphone 4 Midnight Release??

Today i spoke with someone frm my local walmart nd they said they might have a midnight release. Can anyone confirm this?? And what are the chances of this happening??

Walmart is going to be an iffy place to go no Thursday. I just spoke with a manager at the local walmart. She told me:
1. Walmart will only have the 16GB model (concurs with other posts).
2. They will start sales at the normal cell phone dept opening time (8AM at this store - usually 8 or 9 at most stores that have the section).
I tend to believe this one since it was the manager (she even had the inventory sheet but wouldn't let me see how many she's getting) and the store has just done a remodel of its phone section.
Personally I'm starting to think its time to look more at the apple store. The balance of the rumors seem to be that they will get the most inventory but they will be the center of the 'storm' as well.

Halo 4 Midnight release

I was wondering if your stores are going to be launching Halo 4 at midnight and if so, are there any in Arizona?

Keep a lookout on Best Buy's Gaming Events webpage. It should probably update soon and show which stores will have a midnight release for halo 4. For now, you can cross reference which stores are having a midnight opening for medal of honor, forza, and assassins creed. If your store is haveing a midnight opening for these games then chances are they will for halo 4 too. But I make no promises!

Will there be a midnight release for Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword?

I was looking in the best buy ads and saw that there was no ad about Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I was wondering if anyone happens to know if there will be a midnight release for all of the stores, or just select stores. Thank you in advance.

I looked into this and it does not look like we are doing a midnight release for Zelda. The game comes out on 11/20 so I recommend heading to the store when they open. I hope this helps!

Final Fantasy XIII - Midnight Release?

I have to admit, I fell out of the Final Fantasy series for a while, mainly because I bought an Xbox, and then a 360; so you can imagine how pumped I am to here that they are releasing it on 360. Strangely enough, however, I recently bought a PS3 so I pre-ordered the game on it. I can't wait for it to come out!
Does anyone know if Best Buy will be opening at midnight for it's release?

Halo Reach Midnight Release

I read online that Best buy had inflatable energy swords but also the individual said there were free microsoft points and subscription to xbl. Is this true?

The inflatable energy swords were a promotional item confirmed by Microsoft and Bungie representatives. I know of no other confirmed midnight release promotional items at this time. I would suggest stopping by our midnight release event in your area or asking if the local store managers will divulge this top secret information!

Thanks for your post about some midnight releases in Q1. Is there a title in particular that you're thinking about? I can see if I can dig up some information. Notable titles that come to mind are Mass Effect 3, Twisted Metal and Max Payne on console. A lot of times, that information isn't available until closer to release day so titles released later in the quarter might not have midnight releases set up.

Midnight Release for BF3 but not MW3?

Just checked my local store events tab and it show a midnight release for Battlefield 3 but nothing for MW3...I would think if they are doing BF3 they surley would do MW3...for what its worth there was nothing on there for last nights Batman so must not have done it.
I would like to no as i preordered the MW3 Hardened Edition for in store pickup in hopes of midnight release but can go to wal-mart if i have too.,

They might not be doing a release for both of those titles as they pick which titles they want to stay open late for in advance. You could give them a call or double check on your next visit as it might not have been updated quite yet on their website given that MW3 is still 3 weeks out.

Modern Warfare 2 Midnight Release Question.

Alright so im planning to hit the Midnight Release of modern warfare 2.
I get off work at 12:00 am exactly and it takes me 30 minutes to get to the best buy.
How late will best buy be open for this? and will they have enough copies if im not able to make it?
If im not able to make it for the midnight release will they have copiers later on in the day?
I have not preordered, will that affect anything at all?

they usually stay open for an hour for midnight release you dont have to have a preorder to get a game...they should have plenty of extra copies tonight and tomorrow

My i860 canon printer is suddenly printing color pictures with light blue and darker blue horizontal lines. I have changed the cyan blue cartridge and the problem still exists. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

We can perform a print head cleaning and alignment on the printer to try and resolve the issue. To do this, please follow the steps below:
PRINT HEAD CLEANING
With the printer powered on, press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button.
<1> Resume/Cancel button
When the power lamp blinks once, release the button.
Note: The power lamp will blink and print head cleaning will start. The cleaning completes when the power lamp stops blinking. (It will take about 30 seconds to a minute for the power lamp to stop blinking and remain lit solid green.)
PRINT HEAD ALIGNMENT
Confirm that the printer is powered on, and load Letter-sized white plain paper in the sheet feeder.
Note: If paper other than Letter-sized white plain paper is loaded, print head alignment cannot be performed properly.  The automatic print head alignment must be performed from the Automatic Sheet Feeder on the top of the printer. It cannot be performed from the cassette.
Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button, and release it when the Power lamp blinks four times. (The Power lamp will start blinking and pattern printing will start.)
Print head alignment will start automatically as the following pattern is printed.
Note:  Please wait approx. three minutes until printing is completed.

Wine + Dark Souls: Can't remap joypad

Hello everybody.
My problem is I have some of my axises and buttons swapped with my ps2-to-usb adapter and I can't remap the keys in my joypad, jstest-gtk doesn't seem to be doing anything, is not saving the profiles and is not persistent across reboots.
QJoypad or antimicro are certainly not an option as mouse support is really bad in dark souls and I've tried with xboxdrv but it just won't work, even if the resulting virtual device is /dev/input/js0. Haven't had any luck running xbox360ce under wine either, it just crashes.
Shouldn't there be an easier way of doing this?

A season pass is not a downloadable thing. Instead it applies a licence to the account you bought it with which you can look up in your list of licences.
Once you've bought the season pass you can now go and get all the relevant DLC from the store and it should now be set to zero cost, so go ahead, stick it in your basket, check out and download the DLC for free.
