MIDP: Changing Font of Item

Hi ppl! A q about MIDP.
Is there any way to change Font of some Item (StringItem for example) that has been appended to lcdui.Form? or the Font of Form itself?
Thanx.

The only situation where you can change the font is when painting directly to a Graphics object.
Only the Graphics class has a setFont() and a getFont() method.
If you want to use different fonts, you have to develop your own component, or you might find some components developed by specific vendors for specific devices.

  • How to change font/ font color etc in a graphic object using JCombobox?

    Hello
    My program im writing recently is a small tiny application which can change fonts, font sizes, font colors and background color of the graphics object containing some strings. Im planning to use Jcomboboxes for all those 4 ideas in implementing those functions. Somehow it doesnt work! Any help would be grateful.
    So currently what ive done so far is that: Im using two classes to implement the whole program. One class is the main class which contains the GUI with its components (Jcomboboxes etc..) and the other class is a class extending JPanel which does all the drawing. Therefore it contains a graphics object in that class which draws the string. However what i want it to do is using jcombobox which should contain alit of all fonts available/ font sizes/ colors etc. When i scroll through the lists and click the one item i want - the graphics object properties (font sizes/ color etc) should change as a result.
    What ive gt so far is implemented the jcomboboxes in place. Problem is i cant get the font to change once selecting an item form it.
    Another problem is that to set the color of font - i need to use it with a graphics object in the paintcomponent method. In this case i dnt want to create several diff paint.. method with different property settings (font/ size/ color)
    Below is my code; perhaps you'll understand more looking at code.
    public class main...
    Color[] Colors = {Color.BLUE, Color.RED, Color.GREEN};
            ColorList = new JComboBox(Colors);
    ColorList.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ev) {
                     JComboBox cb = (JComboBox)ev.getSource();
                    Color colorType = (Color)cb.getSelectedItem();
                    drawingBoard.setBackground(colorType);
              });;1) providing the GUI is correctly implemented with components
    2) Combobox stores the colors in an array
    3) ActionListener should do following job: (but cant get it right - that is where my problem is)
    - once selected the item (color/ font size etc... as i would have similar methods for each) i want, it should pass the item into the drawingboard class (JPanel) and then this class should do the job.
    public class DrawingBoard extends JPanel {
           private String message;
           public DrawingBoard() {
                  setBackground(Color.white);
                  Font font = new Font("Serif", Font.PLAIN, fontSize);
                  setFont(font);
                  message = "";
           public void setMessage(String m) {
                message = m;
                repaint();
           public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
                  super.paintComponent(g);
                  //setBackground(Color.RED);
                  Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
                  g2.setRenderingHint
                  g2.drawString(message, 50, 50);
           public void settingFont(String font) {
                //not sure how to implement this?                          //Jcombobox should pass an item to this
                                   //it should match against all known fonts in system then set that font to the graphics
          private void settingFontSize(Graphics g, int f) {
                         //same probelm with above..
          public void setBackgroundColor(Color c) {
               setBackground(c);
               repaint(); // still not sure if this done corretly.
          public void setFontColor(Color c) {
                    //not sure how to do this part aswell.
                   //i know a method " g.setColor(c)" exist but i need to use a graphics object - and to do that i need to pass it in (then it will cause some confusion in the main class (previous code)
           My problems have been highlighted in the comments of code above.
    Any help will be much appreciated thanks!!!

    It is the completely correct code
    I hope that's what you need
    Just put DrawingBoard into JFrame and run
    Good luck!
    public class DrawingBoard extends JPanel implements ActionListener{
         private String message = "message";
         private Font font = new Font("Serif", Font.PLAIN, 10);

  • How to change font size in a table?

    How to change font size in a table without using the font style of another document?  Please show a sample script.  Thanks!

    Hi Dave,
    Thank you so much for the email.  I tried every object and method I can
    posibly think about such as
    myTable.Rows.Item(1).PointSize = 24
    myCell.Characters.Item(1).PointSize = 24
    I got error message all the time.  These objects don’t support PointSize.
    All I need is to change point size of the text in InDesign tables created
    using VBScript. Could you help me with this?  Thanks,

  • Change font in Illustrator cs4 js

    I need to assign specific font to my text and it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong:

    And it's not placing it where I want it either.
    Thank you very much for your help.
    Yulia

    Hi yulia,
    i maked some changes on your script:
    - what is it item(0) instruction ??
    use instead paragraphs[0]
    - moreover you can use fontStyle.. it doesn't exist , it's textFont.stye but only for read, you can't assign "bold" or other style...
    to put a differents style, you need to attribute when you call the font name "MyriadPro-Bold".
    (** to obtain exact name you need, i have attritube first manually, and check his name with myParagraph.characterAttributes.textFont.name, to be sure avoid error name OR use my second script below**)
    - you use paragraphs instruction, but i'm not sure that is really usefull, because you have created a text first and you can thus include your properties (font name and style) exept if you envisaged to change font before a paragraphs
    - what is it pointSize ? doesn't exist also.. simply use size if you want change the size of textFont
    For this remark, i recommande you to see this post
    now, below an updated of your script
    #target illustrator
    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var myInstrLayer=doc.layers.add();
    var my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame = myInstrLayer.textFrames.add();
    my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame.geometricBounds = ["1.6 in", "1 in", "1.85 in", "2.75 in"];
    my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame.contents = "OUTSIDE";
    var myParagraph = my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame.paragraphs[0];
    try{
    myParagraph.characterAttributes.textFont=app.textFonts.getByName("MyriadPro-Bold");
    catch(e){alert(e)}
    myParagraph.characterAttributes.size = 30;
    Also for 1$ more* i can propose you (for CS4) the same with drop down list below:
    #target illustrator
    var doc=app.activeDocument;
    var myInstrLayer=doc.layers.add();
    var my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame = myInstrLayer.textFrames.add();
    my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame.geometricBounds = ["1.6 in", "1 in", "1.85 in", "2.75 in"];
    my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame.contents = "OUTSIDE";
    var myParagraph = my_OUTSIDE_TextFrame.paragraphs[0];
    try{
    var ressource="dialog { text: 'Font List'}";
    var item=new Array();
    var dlg=new Window(ressource);
    var dd=dlg.add('dropdownlist',undefined);
    for( j=app.textFonts.length-1;j>-1;j--){dd.add('item',app.textFonts[j].name); }
    dlg.btnRND=dlg.add('button',undefined,'Choose this font.',{name:'ok'});
    dlg.btnCANCEL=dlg.add('button',undefined,'Cancel',{name:'cancel'});
    dlg.show();
    for (k=dd.items.length-1;k>-1;k--){
    if (dd.items[k].selected){myParagraph.characterAttributes.textFont=app.textFonts.getByName(dd.items[k])}
    catch(e){alert(e)}
    myParagraph.characterAttributes.size = 30;

  • Illustrator CS5.1 crashes when changing fonts

    Hoping someone can please help!! Every time I try to change fonts in Illustrator CS5.1, without fail it crashes. I'm on a macbook pro with retina display, OSX 10.9.4 and I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling the program and downloading the Adobe patches but my computer won't accept them. I've tried deleting the Illustrator preferences as well but nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP?!!

    dezine,
    In serious cases requiring reinstallation, you should also use the Cleaner Tool, see 6) below.
    But it may be something with fonts/font caches, see  Items 1) and 11) in the link in 5) below; these may be the most probable causes.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Changing fonts in tables

    Hi,
    I want to change font in a table. It's the only item in the document. Selecting all, and changing font doesn't change anything. It does change any text I subsequently type outside the table, but not the table itself. Adding another row to the table uses the table font. Selecting an individual cell before changing font doesn't change anything either. Selecting the text within the cell before changing font does work, but it would be time consuming to do the whole table like this.
    Hope you can help,
    Tris.

    Tris,
    After I read your post, I tried changing typefaces in a table, and it's not as intuitive as it should be.
    My favourite word processor, TechWriter, uses a menu so you can choose what aspect of the text you want to select at the point at which the caret is, be it Document or Chapter, down to Table row or Table cell.
    But there's a method that worked well for me. Double click on the first cell to select it. Hold down the Shift key, then click on the last cell. The whole table should be selected. Now change the typeface.
    Works for me, thanks. I'd still like to know how to inspect the style for the table though.

  • CHANGING FONTS(SIZE/NAME) IN CHARACTAR MODE REPORT(URGENT)

    I have problem with Character Mode Report. Can I change Font Name, Size and other charcterstics of a character mode report?
    If Yes, How?
    How to change the settings of Character Mode Report (like orientation etc)
    Namrata

    You need to create two printer definition files, one for landscape and one for protrait which set the width/height of the page.
    Changing fonmts needs to be done by knowing the escape characters that printer uses and set in the layout triggers for the item.

  • Need Help Changing Font Size on Mail Program

    OS X 10.8.3
    My mail list under "sort by date" column has a small font which I would like to make bigger.
    I have gone to Mail>Preferences> Fonts & Colors but none of those cseem to change the font in the second mail column under (Sort by date).

    There generally is no way to change the font, or font size. TinkerTool is one of a few utilities that will allow the change of some items, but for the most part, the OS ignores any settings you use in TinkerTool.
    The default font for the system is Lucida Grande. You absolutely cannot change it. If you delete the font from the System folder, the OS will immediately replace it with a copy from a deeply hidden location. If you delete the font from both locations, the Mac will instantly become completely unusable, requiring a reinstall of the OS from your OS X installation disks. Unless you have another drive with OS X on it so you can copy Lucida Grande back to the drive you removed it from.
    About the only easy way to increase the font size overall is to select a lower resolution in the Displays section of the System Preferences.

  • How do I change font and colors back to default?

    I have changed the font and color of the text through the tools button and the options button and the content tab. I find nothing telling me how to change the font and colors back to default font and colors. Can you advise me? I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium OS. Thanks.

    Hi Brenda19605,
    You can use this article to set the fonts and colors: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-fonts-and-colors-websites-use?esab=a&s=font&r=0&as=s
    The default settings for the font are in this article:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Some%20text%20shows%20up%20bold%20after%20upgrade
    Unfortunately for the default colors has no good reference. But for text it is black (most lower left) color, background is white (most upper left color). Unvisited links is blue (column 8, row 5) and visited link is purple (column 9, row 5).
    Let me know if you need anymore help!

    Who is your email provider?
    You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
    If yes, try deleting the mail account and adding it again.

  • Problem with dynamic change a page item value

    Hi,
    I'm trying to dynamically calculated the value of an item based on a simple formula that involves the multiplication of two elements from the same page.
    To do this, create dynamic action as follows:
    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P19_DURATION
    Action: Set value
    Fire on page load: TRUE
    Set Type: SQL Statement
    SQL Statement: SELECT :P19_DURATION * :P19_RATE FROM DUAL
    Page items to submit: P19_DURATION
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P19_AMOUNT
    When altering the P19_DURATION get no change in P19_AMOUNT
    Since my knowledge of javascript is almost zero, I'm trying to do this with pl / sql or sql. Try the dynamic action with a function or a PL / SQL statement and nothing works.
    Have to use javascript for this?
    Searching the forum I think it's something simple, but I did not find an example similar to what I need.
    Regards

    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P19_DURATION
    Action: Set value
    Fire on page load: TRUE
    Set Type: javascript
    javascript Code:
    amount = $v('P19_DURATION') *  $v('P19_RATE');
    $s('P19_AMOUNT',amount);

  • Changes to OITM Item Name replicate to RDR1 Dscription on open order lines

    Hi
    A quick question, does anyone know if it is practical to have changes to an item's Item Name field replicated to sales orders RDR1 Dscription field on orders which have open lines for that item?
    Scenario we face is when an item is made 'obsolete' standard practice is to mark it inactive and edit the OITM Item Name field to contain 'Obsolete'.
    We may have sales orders with lines open for this obsolete part which we need to be automatically updated if the original data changes.
    Thanks in advance for advice or guidance.

    Hi Marli,
    Try this:
    IF $[RDR1.U_Label] = '2'
    SELECT Case T0.U_UPCChoice
    When 1 THEN T1.U_UPCRetail
    WHEN 2 THEN T1.U_UPCLoc
    WHEN 3 THEN T1.U_UPCItem
    WHEN 4 THEN 'Look at Attachment'
    END
    FROM dbo.OCRD T0, dbo.OITM T1
    WHERE T0.CardCode = $[$4.0.0] AND T1.ItemCode = $[$38.1.0]
    Thanks,
    Gordon
