MIDP on PDA's and Smartphones

Hi all,
When you run midlets on a PDA or Smartphone running an OS such as Windows Mobile is it possible to launch the MIDlet on the OS bootup? Can MIDlets be started in this way on more basic devices such as mobile phones?

Hi
Normally you can't, because the MIDP specification does not provide means of dealing with that (though MIDP 3 will ;)). The OSs particulary might offer you some way to do that, but you would have to check the speification for that (I think I read about Symbian providing this, but I'm not sure, so you have to do some digging on this).

  • There are some websites that are available on my desktop and smartphone, but not on my laptop. How do I fix this?

I can access almost all web sites on my desktop, laptop, and smartphone, but there are a few that will load on the desktop and smartphone, but will not load on my laptop, with either Firefox or IE. There is no error message, and the animated icon that should show that the site is loading doesn't move at all. This is very frustrating, because it sometimes means that I miss important webinars, etc. Some of the sites I can't load are not long links, just the basic URL.
My internet service has been unable to help, and Norton tech support tried but also was unable to resolve the problem.
I've tried resetting Firefox to the default, but it didn't help. Note again that the web sites that are a problem will not load in either Firefox or IE on the laptop, but do load properly on the desktop and smartphone.

  • Difference between LV PDA module and touch-panel module

What is the difference between LabView's PDA module and touch-panel module? I want to recompile my application developed on a Win XP environment for a touch-screen single board computer running Win CE. From what I have read, it seems like both PDA module and the touch-panel module would be able to do the task - but what is the difference between the two modules?

    sstolteq:
The LabVIEW PDA Module allows you to create applications that run on Microsoft Windows Mobile for Pocket PC devices. It is also compatible with several NI data acquisitions devices, including the USB-6008, USB-6009, CF-6004,
    DAQCard-6062E, DAQCard-6024E, and the DAQCard-6036E.
The LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, on the other side, allows you to create human-machine interface (HMI) applications to
communicate with NI embedded real-time platforms such as Compact
FieldPoint, CompactRIO, and Compact Vision System. It is optimized for developing
HMIs to Windows CE touch panel devices such as the NI TPC-2006.
I hope this helps and please let me know if I can help further.

  • Pda devices and outlook synch JES2004q2

    hi,
can anybody explain a little what is the story for people wanting to synch their pdas to their outlook desktop.
to my knowledge the synch tool and outlook conenctor don't mix well and sun encourages pda users to use their pda vendors outlook synch software to synch their pda and let the outlook connector do it's part of connectign to outlook.
can anybody tell me where to find a list of supported pda devices (and don't tell me sun locally because noone i've spoken to so far seems to know :) )
    thanks

The synch tool for Windows and Mac, as well as the Outlook connector are "broken" for Calendar Server 6.
They worked well with 5.1, but not with the upgrade.
What gives? Does anyone at Sun marketing care about this "oversite"? Is anyone working on a solution?
A few more of these lapses will result in a phone call to the Oracle rep.

    Vivek,
I've checked the "Redirect from Desktop" and after uploading the website into the hosting account, it still appears in the desktop version.  Would you please take a look at this?  I hope you can see what I've missed.  Thanks.

  • Workflow and smartphone, PDA, Tablet

Anyone knows if Workflow can work (using XDP/PDF rendered form) with the
Adobe Reader version that can be used with smartphone, PDA or tablet?
Have I to render the form in HTML in order to use these devices?
    Thanks for answering,
    Alessio

I'd imagine rendering as HTML is the safest bet. PDF rendering definitely depends on the target machine. The new Windows Mobile 5.0 devices usually come with a PDF viewer (my Cingular 8125 has "ClearVue PDF"), but I haven't tested their ability to view a Workflow-rendered XDP as of yet... I'll put that on my list for this weekend and get back to you. A tablet PC shouldn't have any problems, as it's probably running standard Windows apps and can do anything in-browser that a regular PC could do.

  • When using iCloud Mail with a laptop and smartphone, how do I delete an e-mail from one without deleting it from the other?

I recently have started using iCloud for Mail on both my laptop (MacBookPro, OSX 10.8.5) and my smartphone (iPhone4, iOS7.1.1).
I understand that with iCloud mail is stored in the cloud.  Is there a way of erasing a message from either the laptop or the smartphone while leaving it on the other?  How?

    Hi jeagle7,
iCloud uses a form of IMAP for mail, meaning that by default, the mail should appear the same on any device accessing the account, and anything done to the mail (such as deleting it) should apply to all devices. If you like, you may want to make a local copy of the mail prior to deleting it; the following article may be helpful:

  • Re: Netweaver mobile 7.1 and smartphone applications

    Hi Experts,
Im very new to SAP mobile applications. I have experience in developing applications using Webdynpro for ABAP. My queries are:
    1. If i have a webdynpro application can i launch it on smartphones?
    2. Why do we need a seperate SAP netweaver mobile 7.0 or 7.1 when we can design Webdynpro applications from earlier versions too.
    3. Why did SAP merged SYBASE to implement mobile applications when already we have netweaver mobile.
    4.  How to start a application which can be tested on Blackberry 9630 simulator. Do we need to follow some guidelines?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Asif.

    Hello Ashish,
NW Mobile 7.1 has two parts one is the DOE which is the mobile middleware and other is client (Handheld client) which has a perspective in NWDS to develop mobile apps & run them on a Windows Mobile device. The client is a seperate entity than DOE and it includes all implementations also for using DOE.
Yes you are right if you directly SAP web service or APIs then DOE does not come into picture and you will not be able to use DOE features.
SAP & Sybase provide blackberry client which talks to DOE. But in case you want to write your own custom client, then I suggest you would need to start writing the BB Apps & Client which can connect, sync, deploy from DOE.
RIM provides plugins for eclipse to model mobile applications like Android. You can use the same. It works both with standard eclipse & NWDS, since its a eclipse plugin. But this will only help you to write app which can say talk to SAP web services. But to connect to DOE you would need to write a thin client too which can take care of connection, synchronization, message download upload etc.

  • My wifi continually drops out - it is not a router problem as other laptops and smartphones in the house have no problem. How can i fix this???

Can anyone help with this....I purchased a macbook pro 13" in Sep 2011 and since purchase, have had continual problems with internet dropping out. I have other wireless products in the house eg laptops, smartphones, and ipods and these all operate without issue. Thw wifi on the macbook will work at start up for a few minutes then drop out, I then turn ot back on and after a few more minutes it will drop out again - hugely frustrating.

Why didn't you call Apple tech support?  You are still under warranty.

  • Unity Connection 8.5(x), single inbox, and smartphones

If the customer sets up the following environment:
Unity Connection 8.5(x) WITH SECURE MESSAGING
    Single Inbox with Exchange 2010
    Customer has smartphones (blackberry, etc).
We're trying to figure out if this is set up, will the smart phones be able to play the voicemail message or not?  Based on what I see, I'm thinking they may not, but would love to hear from someone with eyes and ears back in the BU.
    Cliff

They would not be able to play the message. From the Unified Messaging Guide:
To play secure Connection voice messages in the Exchange mailbox, users must use Microsoft Outlook and Cisco Unity Connection ViewMail for Microsoft Outlook. Without ViewMail for Outlook installed, users accessing secure voice messages see only text in the body of a decoy message; the text briefly explains secure messages.
In other words, the Blackberry phones don't have ViewMail and can only see the decoy message.

  • MacBook Pro and smartphone, or iPad and smartphone?

    So,
I have an old windows computer, and the iPad 1. I know I am going to buy an Android phone, but I am looking for something to do all the things that my smartphone can't do.
I am a very knowlegeable tech guy, jailbreaker and all, but I just can't decide.
I use my iPad at school, but it has just become too slow for me to use anymore, and my windows computer is just too old to do anything either.
So, I want to know if I should get a MacBook Pro with the smartphone or buy iPad 3, the smartphone, and keep my old windows computer.
I want to do things that are very graphic intensive that my windows computer can't do, but if I buy iPad 3, then I can just play games off the AppStore.
But, then again, a MacBook Pro will do everything that my iPad and my old windows computer can do and more. So I am leaning to that side.

    Whatever turns you on.

  • What operating systems is recommende for PDA device and for laptop?

    Hi Gurus,
What operating system and which version is best for  run the SAP MI applications in PDA and in the laptop?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi,
if you run MI on Laptop. it is necessary to have Java vailable. so any OS with Java should work, Windows XP is recommended. Vista will work as well in latest versions of MI. On PDA: use WinCE operating System. In latest version of MI WinCE 6.0 Professional is supported - not the MobilePhone version, only the PDA Version.
See MI PAM for more and uptodate details.

  • Multiple devices + 1 BBID - Playbook and Smartphone

    Based on the answers provided in the thread below;
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook-2-0-Insider/Multiple-devices-1-BBID/td-p/...
    I do not understand the following statement;
App World supports one simultaneous BBOS device and one PlayBook, and only 5 switches each per year (a maximum of 15 unique device switches per product line per year)
I have a Playbook 64GB and Strom2 9550. My Storm 2 is on BIS and Playbook connects via WiFi or sometimes tethered through Storm 2. So, both my devices would be logged into my Blackberry ID. I would be using App world many times on both the devices, not simultaneously. Does every switch between Playbook and my Storm 2 switching counted as "unique device switching"? If that is called so, I would be reaching 15 switching in a day or two.
For some reason, at the time of my Playbook purchase, my Storm 2 was not on BIS, because of carrier problem. I switched to another carrier and now, just got my BIS running on my Storm 2. But I have not logged into the Storm 2's App world using my Blackberry ID yet.
Can some one give a clear definition of "unique device switch" ?

No. Those are the "simultaneous" use.

Changing your device from a Storm2 to a new Torch (i.e., a new handheld device PIN) would be a unique device switch.

  • Can iPads and Smartphones Access Remote Desktop Through "Access Anywhere" RDWeb?

Is Remote Desktop Gateway required to log into a Windows 7 workstation remotely or can you connect from a mobile device using only the "Acess Anywhere" features built into Essentials Sever 2012 R2 using the Microsoft Remote Desktop App in downloaded
    from the app store?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Yeah we can access RD Web by using MRD for MAC, IOS and Android. Just we need to install the application on respective device and can access by Remote Resource. Please follow TechNet article where you can find the details.

  • Macbook and smartphone won"t talk

my macbook pro won't recognize samsung galaxy 3 (please excuse brand naming anther's product but thought it was relevant to the question,). even with usb connectd the macbook doesn't show the phone.. what can i do to fix this?
Thanks in advance for all, even if you didn't reply,

I am suffering from a similar issue, where my Mac Book Pro will connect to the network and have an internet connection. My PC on the other hand, running XP, will connect to the AEBS as well, but cannot connect to the internet. I also should note that I have a Powerbook G4 that pulls the same thing the PC does, finds the wireless network, yet will not connect to the internet. My first assumption was that it was the base station transmitting in 802.11n, but when I configured the settings, I had it set to 802.11b/g compatible, so all of my computer should be working fine. If there is any addition information that would possible be a fix to this issue I would greatly appreciate it.
