MiFi and "airprint"

I have the verizon MiFi spot for wireless interent.  I recently purchased an HP "Airprint" printer, however, the printer doesn't seem to recognize the MiFi as "wireless interent".  Any suggestions on how I can use the printer to print from my IPad?

I have two HP AirPrint printers on my MiFi and they both work. Sounds odd.

  • I have a laptop, we recently changed to ATT MIFI and now it gives me a time out error when I try to open firefox. How do I solve this problem. I really like firefox.

    We just changed to ATT MIFi and every time I try to go into firefox it give me "The connection has timed out". My husband's laptop doesn't give him that error. I had previously been on satellite (hughes.net). I had problems with explorer but that has been fixed. I really like firefox and would like to get it fixed.

    iphoto its pictures are still on your computer under the pictures folder.. it will be one file that says iphoto library. Its a separate file from the actual program.
    If you still have the disks that came with your unit they have the ilife applications on them. put the disk in your drive that says mac os x applications dvd. it will auto mount and there should be a folder called bundled software open this and there should be a .pkg file to reinstall the ilife suite which includes imovie iphoto iweb idvd and garageband .  After installing don't forget before runnig the program run software updates to download the any fixes
    if you r unit has disks labeled disk one and disk 2.. you need to boot off of disk one and choose install bundled software.
    I believe there is a KB article through apple.com/support

  • Re: Mifi and Charging - does this work for charging the iPad?

    I found the following post on here - but it is too old for me to reply directly to it - however, this was a very good post and it worked for me and I would really like to get in touch with mikebob to see if the same thing would work for charging the iPad - his ideas really work. And does he or anyone know how to charge the iPad from batteries?
    thanks a lot

    I finally managed to figure out the proper cabling to get the Verizon Mifi 2200 to charge using a generic USB charger. To recap the problem... The mifi device will only charge when using the supplied micro usb charger, or when connected to a computer USB port using the supplied micro USB cable. When connected to a computer, the device reverts to it's connected data mode, which turns off the wifi ssid broadcast and requires the Verizon access manager application to be launched. Most third party chargers will not work... including most 12V lighter to USB adapters, and most backup battery solutions.
    Here is what is going on... Per the USB specification, Pins 1 and 4 are 5V power and ground respectively. Pins 2 and 3 are data+ and data-. In most chargers, pins two and three are tied via a pullup resistor to the 5V line. If you measure the voltage on 2 and 3 you will see around 3V, equivalent to a logic high state. This has something to do with allowing the device being charged to identify whether it should be in a fast or slow charging mode. More importantly, it is what the Apple iPod expects to see . So, anyone wanting to build generic USB chargers will probably implement this way in order to tap into the single largest device market around. Unfortunately, the mifi does not like the logic high on pins 2 and 3. I haven't yet sorted out why, but when it sees logic high on pins two and three, it refuses to go into charging mode.
    The solution is to use a cable where pins 1 and 4 (5V and GND) are carried straight through. Pins 2 and 3 need to be disconnected from the charging source and shorted together at the Mifi end. If this was a miniUSB instead of a microUSB, it would be what is called a "charge only" cable. I have not found any vendors yet for a charge only microUSB cable so I went ahead and performed surgery on a standard microUSB cable. I took a standard USB cable, cut it and then connected it to a microUSB connector from an old Motorola bluetooth headset charger.   Interestingly, the microUSB connector from the Moto charger  already has pins 2 and 3 shorted together internally so all I had to do was connect 5V and ground and heat shrink tube the whole thing. With this cable I can charge the mifi from any generic USB port, including those on 12V lighter adapters, and rechargeable backup batteries. In addition, I can also connect the Mifi to my laptop to charge while continuing to access the Mifi via wifi.
    Only word of caution...  You really need to connect the Mifi to your computer using the standard data cable on occasion, say once per month.  The reason is that it is only in this mode that you will receive notifications of S/W updates and/or the need to update your PRL. (preferred roaming list).

    Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
    If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

  • HP Laserjet CP1525nw and AirPrint

    I have a brand new CP1525nw which is on the list of supported printers. It has the most up to date firmware available. My iPad is running the most up to date version.
    I am unable to print to it with my iPad. A windows desktop can print to it wirelessly. When I try to use my iPad i simply get "No Printers Found"
    Have i missed something? Any thoughts or ideas?

    Your symptoms sound a lot like my 1525n (non-wireless) regarding AirPrint prior to updating its firmware.
    Out of the box (brand new last week) AirPrint was not supported - computers could print to it, but no iPads/iPhones could see it. There was an available firmware update for it on HP's website, though. Applied it and AirPrint sprang to life. Since then there has been yet another update posted, released on 2nd Dec.
    What is the date-code for the firmware on your printer? (The "HP Utility" app displays this on the Mac, I'm sure there's something equivalent on Windows). The latest update installs version 2010-11-25.

  • Can Airport Express do AirPlay and AirPrint at the same time? Mine doesn't

    I've just set up my Airport Express to join my existing network in client mode, wanting to use it for Airplay and Airprint. Both seem to work fine, but then they mysteriously stop working. I think it happens when I print something; that seems to mess up the device. Like, the Airport Utility will say the base station is no longer part of the network, but I can still print to it, and Airplay doesn't work. It's very confusing.

    Just to clarify, I'm not actually using Airprint. It's a USB printer and I'm just printing to it wirelessly via the Airport Express.

  • Printer for Lion and airprint

    Can anyone recoomend a printer that works well and for sure with Lion and also with Airpint for the I pad ? I have been trying to make an HP-CP1025 nw work with Lion and airprint for 3 days (on the phone with HP support) and finally decided to give up. An reccommendation woudl be great. A siple printer would be best. Thanks

    hi there,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I agree there has to be a recurring problem that is not due to hardware. HP has sent me 3 printers as they claim is a 'hardware' issue, but I cannot believe that 3 printers in row are failing !
    I have a an Apple Airport Express (brand new) plugged into a modem from Time Warner Cable service. The model of the modem box is: Scientific Atlanta 2100 (on the back the unit is listed: DCP 2100R2)
    Any suggestions you may have are greatly helpful. I intend to buy a new printer (HP refunded me) but I need to make sure it will work with the configuration I have here). By the way, I do not know what multucasting is, should I call Apple or Time Warner to find out if multicasting is supported by my device ?
    Thanks again

  • Can I use both ePrint and AirPrint on an HP4630 at the same time

    I have an HP4630 printer that I wish to use with an iPad and Mac Notebook (PowerPC running OS X 10.5.8) and want to know if I can run AirPrint for iPad and ePrint for Mac Notebook at the sametime.
    I understand that Mac Notebook can not connect to the printer over the network because it is not capable of running OS X 10.6 and above.

    Hello Chesher5,
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    Regarding the inquiry into ePrint and AirPrint for the Officejet 4630, yes they can be both used at the same time. They are completely separate means of printing. Both require a network connection though.
    If you have any problems setting up or using either, please let me know and I'll do my best to assist.
    Cheers,

  • My ipad refuse to download Firefox and airPrint hactivator

    my ipad refuse to download Firefox and airPrint hactivator. Do you know why?

    If using a computer and connected printer, there are other apps that can allow printing from iPad.
    These apps, typically, install a helper app onto the connected computer, to allow your iPad and computer to communicate over WiFi. From there your computer's normal printing app will take over printing your content from the iPad.
    Search for printing apps for iPad.
    Good Luch!

  • MIF and cross references

    Hi,
    I created a simple MIF file:
    <TextFlow
        <Para
            <PgfTag `Body'>
            <Pgf <PgfFont <FSize  9.0 pt> >>
            <ParaLine
                <String `Please see the '>
                <XRef
                    <XRefName `FunctionReference'>
                    <XRefSrcText `Table: foo'>
                    <XRefSrcFile `'>
                >
                <XRefEnd>
                <String `for details.'>
            >
        >
    >
    When I insert this into an existing document, there is a newline exactly where the reference should be. I could not manage to remove it. How can I get avoid of the ugly newline? Even after updating the references I get
    Please see the
    Function foo
    for details.
    instead of
    Please see the Function foo for details.
    Furthermore I defined the cross reference format as "<X-ref><$elemtext>" but the link does not work in Acrobat (although it is blue and underlined). What could be the problem?
    And finally, when I use the MIF file as an inset, the XRefFormats do not update :-( They seem once to be imported and never updated. This means when I change the format of the reference in the MIF file, the changes are not reflected in the document which includes the MIF file - not even after removing and re-inserting. The one thing that helps is to manually delete the format. Is there a way to avoid this?
    Regards
    Niki

    Hi Jang,
    Check my FrameScript tutorial on cross-references at http://www.frameexpert.com/tutorials/cross-references.htm. The code is in FrameScript, but the concepts will be the same with ExtendScript. You can insert and manipulate cross-references directly with FrameScript or ExtendScript without having to use MIF snippets.

  • Calibration, printing, and AirPrint

    So, I completely understand the need to calibrate the display of my computer(s), in fact, I'd welcome any input as to the best reasonably priced calibration hardware for use with multiple macs/iMacs  ;o).  I can see how this would result in darker images when printing from Aperture to our Epson Artisan 730 printer.
    That said, I am also seeing much darker prints when printing from the iPhone or iPod using AirPrint.  It's not clear to me why I would see the same kind of darkened print from a completely different device with a completely different screen.  This is making me wonder if there is something inherent to the Epson Printer that is causing the darker prints.
    In case it matters, the prints from the Epson are incredible, just darker than they appear on the phone or computer.  I realize this is an Apple forum, not an Epson forum, but y'all know your stuff   ;o)
    Thanks!

    That's interesting. The problem is that with AirPrint compatable printers, it does not require any setup whatsoever, so there isn't any settings information in the Apple support section. Under normal circumstances, Bonjour downloads and installs with iTunes, and does not have a setup section. If you go into Programs in Control Panel, you can see the installation of Bonjour, however there is no way to modify any setup for that program. So, I'm afraid it might be hit or miss on how to make any changes to it. Identifying the actual driver for your printer might be just as difficult a task. It seems from your link that you provided, it is some way to trick the iPhone into believing you have an AirPrint compatable printer.
    I did find this support document that identifies information about Windows XP and Bonjour http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2235. Don't know if it will help. Good luck.

  • HT4356 printing page from facebook using picture and airprint page in upper left quadrant with words and margin cut off

    I have a ipad 4 with 6700 hp printer. I was told by support that the way to print a page from facebook was to take a picture of the page and then print the picture. When I do this the picture is printed in the upper left hand quadrant with part of the wording cut off. Is the only or best way to print from facebook and how can I fix the location of the print. Seems Hoaky to me

    Well after weeks of anguish, trips to the apple store (not very professional ), calls to Apple support (no help), calls to HP support, they transfered me to airprint support who actually told me how to fix my problem. For an HP printer download from the app store HPAIO remote print. You have to search on AIO remote print. Installed this app and now I can make the print work like I would like. Good luck

  • HP Laserjet p1102w and airprint

    i have a HP Laserjet p1102w (which supports airprint), it's on the same wifi network as my ipad2 ( os 5.0.1), however whenever i try to print from my ipad, it says no printer found, any suggestions?

    Seems long to me, but itmwould,depend on the size ofmthe update, network speed, yada yada.  I am tryingnto remember the steps,when i did mine, and i just cant.  At some point you probably have to turn the printer off, so it can reboot.  When it looks like it is done, it should,say so on the panel.
    Worst case, when you are tired of waiting, reboot the printer, and see if it now shows up on your padmwhen you try to print.  If not, simply trymthe firmware update again.

  • Update 10.9.2 and AirPrint with certain HP Printers

    There is evidence that the above Mavericks update, released last week, is not compatible with certain Hewlett Packard printers.
    I have lost wireless printing from my MacBook Air and now need to use a USB cable.
    Airprint from my iPad (iOS 7.0.6) still works.
    My printer is a Hewlett Packard Photosmart 5520 and a friend has a Hewlett Packard OfficeJet Pro 8600 used with a MacBook Pro. We have both lost wireless printing functionality from our Macs.
    Will this be a Hewlett Packard or an Apple bug-fix?

    I have two HP printers connected to the same airport extreme by Ethernet cables, and I access the printers from all of my devices over my network.
    In the past week, the HP ColorlaserJet CP3505n has worked without a hitch; the HP LaserJet P2035n has been disconnecting frequently. I've had to delete it and add it back in "Printers and Scanners" several times. Sometimes it doesn't show up in the list of available printers. The P2035n is not working well with Mac OS X 10.9.2, and it has had similar problems in the past with Snow Leopard.
    I will not buy another cheapo HP B&W printer.

  • Basic Troubleshooting for ePrint and AirPrint

    Some of our users experience temporary issues with AirPrint, ePrint and in using our Web Services provided through the ePrintCenter website. There can be a number of issues which can lead to these problems, but I am giong to do my best job at trying help figure them out.
    With AirPrint, you are dealing with just your local network. If you are having issues with AirPrint here are the first few steps you can take to correct the issue.
    1. Make sure that both devices are on the same network and share the same SSID. Sometimes one device will be connected to a "guest" network, and this will prevent cross communication.
    2. Turn off Bluetooth. Rarely, but I have seen this happen before, will Bluetooth interfere with communication with our printers. This is because AirPrint was written to use the same channel as Bluetooth. And like having two radio stations which are very close to each other, you will sometimes experience interference which will inhibit the signal.
    3. Reconnect the printer to the wireless network - simply re-running the wireless setup wizard fixes many connection issues
    4.  Assign your printer a static IP and Google DNS (at the bottom of the screen the configuration should read 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). Here a video on how to set that -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llYNMNKJMX4
    5.  After that, if you are still experiencing the same issue I would perform a network reset, so that all the devices reconnect to the servers properly and to your network. First turn off your machine (and other devices on the network you wish to communicate with the printer [e.g. phones/tablets]), then unplug your router, after ten seconds plug the router back in. Once the lights are all back to normal (flashing, steady or otherwise) power the machine back on followed by your other devices and test printing again.
    With ePrint and our printer enabled apps, sometimes these will not be able to be used temporarily. Like most networks, the HP cloud does go through periodic times when the servers are down for maintenance, upkeep, and updating. These can cause temporary outages in some of the connected apps as well as some of the services that HP provides.
    However, if you are experiencing long term issues with ePrint or the printer apps, there are a few things you can do to correct the problem
    1. Reconnect the printer to the wireless network - simply re-running the wireless setup wizard fixes many connection issues
    2. Assign your printer a static IP and Google DNS (at the bottom of the screen the configuration should read 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). Here a video on how to set that -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llYNMNKJMX4
    3.  After that, if you are still experiencing the same issue I would perform a network reset, so that all the devices reconnect to the servers properly and to your network. First turn off your machine, then unplug your router, after ten seconds plug the router back in. Once the lights are all back to normal (flashing, steady or otherwise) power the machine back on and test the connection to the server again.
    4. Lastly, if those steps have failed you can disable and re-enable web services. This will cause you to lose your personalized printer email address and you will have to remove your printer's original information from ePrintCenter and reconfigure the applications and services you desire. However if this is necessary, you can contact our free support at the number below (for US and Canadian customers)

    You need to try to download at night when the tower is not busy and it will not inturrupt your download the reason you got a letter from verizon is because, if the download (downloads) partial it will erase and you will have to start over.
