Mighty mouse and right click???

I have a mighty mouse and the right is set to a primary button however it doesn't function like a right click. i still have to press control to get the right click functionality?? HELP!!

What is strange about my mighty mouse which also experiences similar issues is that you have to be careful where you are pushing it. My right tbutton is set as a control click but if I don't push it in the very upper right hand of the mighty mouse it behaves as a single click. The left hand button, as such, does not seem to be as sensitive to placement as the right hand one. For a long while I could not get it to work at all, until I figured out where I actually had to strike it.
I had never used a mighty mouse until I purchased a new iMac a couple of weeks ago and just figured it was "operator difficulty" as I am far more used to a trackball than a mouse. I may still go back to one if I can't get used to this mouse. I think you really have to put your whole hand over the mouse to make it function properly and I tend not to do that.
Does this help you with your issue? I am not sure, maybe there is some sort of difference in the way the mighty mouse works with new hardware?
Good Luck! Wish I had more to offer other than trying carefully to position your handin difernt places and see if that helps.

  • Mighty Mouse Problems - right click and battery changing

So I am on my second Mighty Mouse after the first one completely stopped working one day. Took it in to Apple and they gave me a new one.
This new one generally works ok (although right click fails every few days) but when I change the batteries and turn it back on the computer doesn't find it. I have to plug in my old Logitch and discover the Mighty Mouse and pair it again using the Logitech to control the cursor.
Then this morning the Mighty Mouse left click button stopped working so I turned it off and on again and once again, the computer didnt recognise the mouse and I had to go through the whole discovering and pairing process again using my other mouse.
Any ideas - I have checked the Bluetooth preferences and cant seen anything that I should be checking - it says my mouse is paired, connected and discoverable.
Any ideas or are Mighty Mouses just an ordinary piece of hardware - my experience so far has been ordinary!
    By the way - I have a new (December 07) 24inch iMac and 10.5.2

    Hey,
I just talked to German Apple telephone support. They fixed the problem for me! With fresh  installs of 10.7.5 the problem is that two files are missing that are needed for the mouse. In my case I could get them from another computer I own that ran Lion and did have the files. To get to the files you need do this:
    Go to
    /System/Library/LoginPlugins/BezelServices.loginPlugin
control-click that file and choose "show contents"
now in the finder window navigate to
    Contents/PlugIns/
In this folder should be two files named
    AppleBluetoothHIDMouse.plist
    and
    AppleHIDMouse.plist
If you don't find these files, you need to get them and put them in.

  • Problem with Mighty Mouse in Right Click with Windows Vista Business

    Hi APPLE,
I have a laptop, Sony Vaio, with Windows Vista Installed in it, i have purchased Apple Wireless Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. Sometimes I get no response when i right click...when i disconnect the mouse, then right click becomes active...but after using for long, right click becomes left click and left click acts normally. Could anyone tell me why this is happening, Can anyone tell me any fix/update/patch Apple has provided for Windows Vista. Is there any driver to configure Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse in Standalone Windows Vista.

  • Mighty Mouse Wireless Right Click not working

    Hi Friends!
I am having some difficulty getting my Right Click on my Wireless MM to work. I am aware that I need to keep my left finger off the mouse but it still does not seem to be working.
    Any thoughts ?
    Thanks !
    J

Try replacing the battieries (or just taking them out and putting them back in). Forcing the connection between the Mighty Mouse and the iMac to break. Then put the new batteries, or the ones you were you using from before, in the MM.
Re-link the Mighty Mouse to the iMac and try applying the settings for the right click function in System Preferences.
Remember to mark as helpful or solved.

  • Apple Mouse (mighty mouse?) Right clicks too often

I have the Apple Mouse (former Mighty Mouse) and I have right click turned on.  The mouse is constantly doing "right click" when I click left.  I look and my finger is well to the left of the little scroll wheel.
I thought "Oh maybe it's sensing the whole panel and I'm pushing in a funny angle" but no, I paid attention and  I was not.
I'm just wondering, is this a common problem with this mouse?   Or is my particular mouse defective?

I have a 2011 iMac and the batteries in my Magic Mouse need changing every couple of months.  In contrast, my wireless keyboard only needs a battery change every 10 months or so.  I bought an Apple battery charger and keep the spare set of batteries always charged.
I think that is the way it is - mouse uses more juice than keyboard (or gets more use so runs down faster).  However, if it gets worse than 2 weeks life, it may be time to invest in a new mouse.

  • Mighty Mouse lost right click and track ball 'click' in upgrade to Lion

I upgraded my MBP to Lion at the community's recommendation and things have been going pretty well except for one major annoyance.  My mighty mouse, that worked perfectly on Snow Leopard no longer is able to right click or trackball 'click'.  If I try to do right click or use the trackball click all I get is a normal click.  I have no idea what to do, I've tried un-pairing the mouse and resetting it up, but the mouse seems to keep its unique identifier so when I re-pair it the computer recognizes it as a mouse it has seen before.  Though I'm not sure if being able to change this would matter or help.  Thanks for any input!

  • Might Mouse and Right Click

Well, I just recently got my MacBook Pro, and along with it a keyboard and the mighty mouse.
I just converted from PC, so I'm very used to the right click. I know the right click is possible with the mighty mouse, but is there any way to make it more sensible to the right click? What I mean, is that sometimes I'll right click, but it'll do a left click. I've also noticed that in order for the right click to work, I have to completely lift my other finger off the mouse so it doesn't do a left click, and even that sometimes doesn't work.
Is there any way to fix this?

Well, right click as you normally would except lift your finger so as to not activate left click, there's nothing to it. As long as you lift your finger right click should work, your hand is unlikely to cancel it out, unless your fingers are on the squeeze buttons on the side.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Looses Right Click Functionality

I am using a new Wireless Mighty Mouse (about one month old) With new batteries.
Since I started using it, the (secondary) right click would stop function after repeated use. After many frustrating trouble shooting attempts, I discovered that the Right Click will work again if the mouse is left idle for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I will like to know if this is a defect that's inherent in the Mighty Mouse system, and if so, has anyone found a solution to this problem or is there a fix?
Any input would be very much appreciated

    Mac G5. 2ghz DP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Unfortunately my experience suggests no. I'm on my 5th (or is it 6th?) wireless Mighty Mouse now, and they've all behaved just as you described. The latest replacement was only a week ago. I suspect the only point in replacing it further times would be to demonstrate that you've tried all you can. As far as I can tell, my only recourse at this point is convincing Apple to refund me, which is a shame because I like the scroll ball design.
I should note that I'm in Australia, in case stock has been slower to update here, but it shouldn't make a difference...
I've noticed that the problem seems to occur a lot more frequently under hot conditions - room heater on, hot hands etc. Could it still think the left button is being touched because it's warm and/or sweatier than usual?

  • Mighty Mouse not right clicking

I have noticed that my mighty mouse will NOT work on the right click function, particularly when I am on the desktop. If I am working in mail for instance, it WILL however allow me to right click .
Are there settings or preferences that may have gotten corrupt?
When on the desktop, if i rightclick, i get s slight pause, then the desktop re writes itself, yet no right click menu will appear.

It seems like something is up with your Mac OS X.
Did you try left click and ctrl before you bought your mighty mouse? Or did you always have your might mouse?
Please try the following...go to applications>utilities>disk utility
select your volume and fix permissions, then on the right click on check disk. This will take a couple minutes.
Let me know if you get any errors. Those red type things
Or did you do this already?

  • Bluetooth Mighty mouse wont right click

I have set the right mouse button to 'secondary' in the preferences, however i still have to press ctrl to access the right mouse menu.
    How can I correct this?

    Hello,
In addition to checking the setting as already proposed, do check how you are using the mouse.
The Mighty Mouse uses sensors to detect which button you mean to press.
There is actually only one button. So, based on where your fingers are, it will determine which button you meant to press.
As long as you have a finger over the left button location, anything you press will be a left-button / primary button click.
So, as a test, raise your left finger about an inch above the surface before you right-click. See if that makes a difference.
The mouse could just be reading your left finger and assuming you mean a left click.
I have to deliberately remove my left finger from the mouse anytime I want to right-click. Otherwise I always get a left-click.
    I hope this helps.

  • Mighty Mouse (BlueTooth) Right Click Problem

Many times when I right click on the mouse, nothing happens.
If I move the tab (on back on mouse) covering the blue tooth signal, apple reports mouse not found. The mouse then is found and my right click function works. I did this to reset the mouse to solve the problem but it does not make it a permanent solution.
Do I have a defective mouse or is this a normal behavior with this mouse. I have used other mice before on Windows PC and no other wireless mice exhibits this behavior.

"Laser illumination is considered more superior " ???
Yes, I'm a 20+ year veteren of many Apple mice.
Laser is clearly the superior choice over the optical in the MM.
MM skips with detail moves, this Logitech mouse is precise and smooth.
The Logitech mouse is wireless and has it's own combination charger stand/bluetooth(?) reciever that just plugs into a USB port. No batteries to worry about. Plus it's more egronomic and one can do a right click and a left click at the same time, unlike a MM.
Apple's MM (in both forms) is clearly inferior, I've been through two already since they have been out. Being the Apple loyalist I am, I gave it a second try. But I need to get some work done without having to fight a greasy scroll pea and gunked up rollers with MM.
In this hardware case Apple has been clearly bested, perhaps it was intentional, who knows? Apple's MM just plain under-performs.
I'm almost positive you'll be happy with this Logitech brand/type of mouse.
I'm sure if you shop around you can find it on sale, I did for about $30. A fraction of what a wireless MM would cost you.
    (no comp)

  • Mighty Mouse and Rt Click??

I want to make the top button perform like a rt click (ie. Control click) How do I do this? I know how to get to the setup preferences for my mighty mouse but I can't seem to find this.

You might try SteerMouse. It has some nice features including that.

  • Mighty Mouse and double clicking

Mouse is set to "double click", but, if I place the cursor over a file in my desktop and click the mouse, nothing happens.
Clicking on links in the browser works fine, but I have to hold down the "control" key in order to invoke the contextual menu and then select "open", in order execute an action that the mouse should do.
I am a new, iMac convert, and do not know if this behavior is normal.

    Are you double clicking?
    No.
Again, mouse is set to double click when I press on it, once.

  • TS3048 Right click on Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard are not working

I have a 24" iMac, early 2009  Lion,10.7.5.  My wireless keyboard and mighty mouse are not working properly. Wireless keyboard- I can turn it on and it will ask me to pair it with the Blue Tooth.  I cannot log the numbers in - I even tried logging them in with my wired keyboard device (which is an Apple keyboard).
My Mighty Mouse's right click stopped working as well.
I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps-
New Batteries - Cleared Blue tooth preferences list, repaired permissions, Cleared cache, Made sure that the settings were correct ex: key was not checked on mouse, Removed both devises (keyboard, and mouse) from blue tooth and allowed them to be discovered again, PRAM reset, Hardware check/ reset, and lastly, Reinstall of OSX.
I am still having the same issue with both devices.
    Thank you.

This is why you should always have a wired keyboard and mouse as backups.
Try smc and hope for the best.
I'd also suggest pram reset but you need the keyboard for that.
