Mighty Mouse connected : Want to use trackpad too ???

Hi,
When my mouse is wirelessly connected I am unable to use the trackpad. Is their a work around for this?
TIA

Open up System Preferences. Click the "trackpad" icon. At the bottom of the next window, uncheck the "Ignore trackpad if mouse is present" option.
If that doesn't fix things, let me know and we'll see what else we can try.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Connect on Mouse Power ON?

So today I purchased a new Mighty Mouse at the Apple Store.
I love it, it's everything I wanted. One thing tho...
I use a MacBook Pro, so I don't always have the need to use my mouse (I usually use it just to game or when I don't want to use the touchpad).
I make use of the ON/OFF switch at the bottom of the mouse. I was just wondering *if there is a way to get the Mighty Mouse to connect automatically when I turn on the Mouse?* Thusfar, I have been needing to go to my Bluetooth preferences to manually connect it once it's turned on.
    Thanks in Advance.

When you turn the mouse on, just click it several times and move it around, it will connect automatically.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse connection

I frequently use my MBP as a laptop. When I carry it out of range of the bluetooth Mighty Mouse, I get the notification that it has disconnected, but when I get back in range, the MBP acts as if it had never been connected to the mouse in the first place.
I have to go through the whole setup routine to get the mouse to connect again. Is there any way to get the MBP to remember the mouse and connect automatically as soon as it's in range?

    Wscrivens,
    Try this...
Under "Bluetooth" select "devices," select your Bluetooth mouse and then "add to favorites."

  • Mighty Mouse connection issues

For the first few months I had the Mighty Mouse, it worked perfectly, no problems. But lately it has been disconnecting at random times. I can't figure out what the problem is. The batteries are OK, and I've moved my cell phone off my desk (though it didn't affect the connection before), but I'm still getting connection errors throughout the day. And they are getting to be more frequent. Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it? It's driving me crazy!

If it has been a few months since you last changed the batteries in the Magic Mouse, you might try replacing them. The info provided via the computer (either in the B;uetooth menu, prefs, or Dashboard) re the mouse battery state is notoriously incorrect.
Other folk have noted that over time the batteries may loosen up in the box; apparently the cover can warp a bit, allowing that to happen. Suggested solution is to place a thin piece of cardboard between the batteries and their cover.

  • Mouse pointer keeps disappearing using trackpad

hey guys ive just purchased my mac min  and my mouse pointer keeps on disapearing any ideas?

Thanks Linda but I'm not using a wireless mouse - or a USB hub. The issue occurs if the mouse is plugged into the apple keyboard or directly into the Macbook Pro.
BTW, if I switch to other open apps or to the Finder the mouse appears - but disappears when switching back to Fireworks.
This is a really frustrating issue as I can't use CS5 - any other ideas?
    Cheers

  • Mighty Mouse Connects but doesn't work

Since I installed my Wacom Intuos 4 My mouse hasn't worked properly. It connects, but when I check the green light, it flashes twice over and over. Can anyone help?

    Hello m:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I do not have a tablet installed so I am guessing.
The Wacom web site does indicate that both a mouse and tablet may be connected, but only one at a time.
Try a couple of things One at a time):
Be sure you have the latest driver from Wacom.
    1. Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.
    2. Delete the mouse, restart, and see if it connects and pairs.

  • Mighty Mouse and Trackpad on Macbook

    Hi,
I was used to automatically disconnect my trackpad when my Mighty Mouse connects to the Macbook by BT. And for this there was a checkbox in preferences (under mouse option) that was able to do it.
After upgrade to 10.6, this option was gone!!! Now I have both devices working at the same time: Mouse and Trackpad.
Any ideas how to disconnect the Trackpad when and external mouse is detected in 10.6?!

This is from the Help system:
    Making the trackpad inactive
You can set the computer to ignore the trackpad while you’re typing or when you have a mouse connected. This option is available on some portable computers only.
    To make your trackpad inactive:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Trackpad.
    Open Trackpad preferences
Select the “Ignore accidental trackpad input” checkbox to make the computer ignore the trackpad while you type.
If you’re using a non-Apple mouse, the driver software that came with your mouse may prevent these options from working as expected. See the documentation that came with your mouse for more information.

Using an IMac desktop.  Upgraded to Maverick.  Can't use my mighty mouse anymore.  Bought a trackpad, hate it.  It is so touchy....constantly opening any window I scroll over.  Any suggestions on another mouse that is compatible?

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse & Windows XP using Bootcamp

Are there plans to add functionality for the bluetooth mighty mouse in Windows XP using bootcamp??

I was able to get it to work in Windows XP. I was not using Boot Camp since I have a IBM ThinkPad T41p, but it should work the same.

  • Mighty Mouse bluetooth disable after computer shuts down

I looked for a solution on the forum and could not find it yet. I have a Mighty mouse connected to my G5 Mac tower for almost a year and never had a problem. Now since last week, every time I shutdown the computer it disables the bluetooth hardware. Then when I turn on my computer, my wireless bluetooth mighty mouse does not work any more. I then need to connect the old wired mouse go back to system preference, go to the mouse keyboard section and select and re-program the wireless mouse. At that moment it gives me a message that the bluetooth hardware is off and ask me if I want to turn it on. When I say yes, turn bluetooth hardware on, then the mighty mouse starts working again until I shutdown or restart the computer. Just as an additional piece of information, my G5 Mac tower is a three year old that did not come with the integrated bluetooth technology. I had been using for a year a D-Link DBT-120 USB bluetooth device. As I said, never had a problem until last week. Does anyone has any idea what could had changed on my computer?
    Thanks.

    Hello again:
The reason I asked about changes is that an update "may" have affected the external BT dongle in some way. Both my iMacs have built-in Bluetooth capability, so I am very little help with third party dongles.
You could reset the PRAM to see if that helps:

  • Mighty Mouse and Architectural Drawing ?

    Hi !
My son's an architectural student with an iBook and a recently purchased copy of ArchiCAD. He's been advised to get a two button mouse with scroll wheel. Presumably the standard of draughtsmanship requires a high level of precision control. Can anyone with experience say whether the Mighty Mouse is up to the task of precision drawing ?
    Thanks !
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
I'm in the final throws of an MArch degree and any mouse will indeed be fine as long it tracks properly. I use a mighty mouse, but I also use microsoft mice as well - both are fine. It really comes down to personal taste. I've heard really great things about the high-end wireless logitech mice too. CAD programs use something call 'snaps' to get accurate connections between lines [when the cursor get close to a line it 'snaps' to the closest line based on a series of constraints] so the program is what makes a drawing accurate not the user. Of bigger concern is that he's using an iBook for architecture. For CAD he'll be fine, but when he migrates into 3D work in say FormZ or Maya the iBook will choke. For one iBooks only have 32 MB of VRAM and 2] they don't have the raw power required to render. I just upgraded from a PowerBook to a quad for this reason. So, I wouldn't be surprised if your DP 1.8 G5 goes 'missing' in the middle of the night!

  • Mighty Mouse Forced Recognition?

hi folks. i have a problem with my set up.
i am using a DVI KVM switch to control two macs and a pc. because of the KVM switch, neither mac recognizes the Mighty Mouse that i have connected. Also, the scrolling axes of the roller ball are switched. In other words, in order to scroll down, i must roll the mouse ball to the right.
There must be a way (in Unix) to force the two macs to recognize the mighty mouse so i can use the MIght Mouse Control Panel, and also so i can switch the axes of the roller ball to compensate.
Does anyone know 1) how to do it, or 2) where i can find out how to do it? i'm not afraid of the terminal...
    thanks!
    john

guess i'll give this a little bump.
btw, the macs also don't recognize the extra keys on my apple extended keyboard either, like volume up/down, or cd eject.
there must be a way to force recognition of these items in a unix/terminal kinda way...

  • Recommendations for a Bluetooth/wireless mouse that is not a MIghty Mouse

I'm tired of having problems with my Bluetooth mighty mouse, and want to know what other people are using for a Bluetooth or wireless mouse. IMO, the trackball on the Mighty Mouse is a major design flaw, that is easily clogged with dirt or dust, and the frequent cleaning is either time consuming, or not very effective. I've tried pretty much everything ever suggested in these forums to fix the Mighty Mouse, and I'm to the point where I'd just rather something else, preferably a traditional two-button design, with a scroll wheel.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I give the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 five stars. Yeah, I know, how can MM from Apple be so bad, and anything from MS be great. The 8000 is a full 5-button mouse, 4-way scrolling, programmable, rechargeable, bluetooth mouse. Pairs easily with the bluetooth on my iBook or iMac. You can find it for around $60, but get this. You don't need the BT dongle, so sell it on eBay and recover your $60.
Microsoft doesn't officially support the 8000 on Mac, but Mac drivers come on the CD. You install the CD drivers, then download Intellipoint 6.1 and install only the mouse for full functionality.

  • Mighty Mouse (wired) Button Config in Vista

Is there a comparable configuration application in Vista for configuring button actions on the mighty mouse? The windows control panel sees the mighty mouse but does not allow it to configure the side buttons or change the default action of the scroll ball. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

It isn't likely that there is an alternative available for the Mighty Mouse in Vista. This is because the buttons on the Mighty Mouse are optimized for use in Mac OS X, not Windows. The drivers and stuff that allow the Mighty Mouse to work in Windows are not the same as in OS X, and lack the driver support for the special buttons. I would recommend buying a "Certified for Vista" mouse if you want special features like that in Vista. If you're using Boot Camp on a Mac, I would recommend having a Mighty Mouse for Mac OS X and a Vista Certified mouse from Microsoft or Logitech for Vista.

  • Radio Interference causing a haunted mighty mouse?

Ok, so here is the situation.
I have a wired mighty mouse connected through the keyboard to my Power Mac G5 Quad.
The mouse phantom clicks when i pass my finger over the right side (it performs the button 4 function, like I pressed in the sides). All other buttons do not work (except for the primary one).
The mouse has been replaced. And it works perfectly on the machines at the Apple Store. It works perfectly on MY machine, when it is at the Apple Store. I have even duplicated the problem on my Powerbook G4 when the machine is PLUGGED into the wall.
SO, I think that this has something to do with the power outlets in my house. That and the fact that i've been getting all sorts of weird interference (spanish radio coming out of my external speakers, cell phone service being spotty, and XM not working well). Maybe interference?
If anyone has any idea how to solve this... or has had a similar experience, please post. I love my Mighty Mouse and would like it to work.

Hi. Is your house old? It may have to do with improper grounding at your outlet. My mighty mouse used to act up in a very similar way and I discovered that it only did this when one of my external hard drives was plugged into an ungrounded outlet. Once I plugged the drive into the same outlet as the rest of the computer, the problem went away.
