Mighty mouse freaking out..

Every once in a while, the squeeze function on my mouse will click rapidly, causing the exposé view to go in and out frantically. The thing is, I'm only just applying the weight of my hand on the mouse, not even touching the button, so if I take my hand off, it stops. I've noticed that the squeeze doesn't click if it's unplugged (it's normal, but why?).
It's not a terrible inconvenience, but it's annoying having to unplug and replug my mouse.

Mighty Mouse wigging out..

i came home tonight to find that my mighty mouse is really messed up. before work it was perfectly fine. when you rest both fingers on top of where the left and right button are, it continuously clicks. faster than what most normal people would.. by resting your fingers on top without applying very much pressure.
i couldn't figure out where else to post this since they don't have a peripheral section.. but this is happening on a powermac g5. once the mouse is unplugged it is silent and no longer clicks constantly..

This is a typical problem I've found with the mighty mouse. Turning it off and reconnecting will resolve this issue. I've noticed this while using Firefox, and I believe other programs as well. At first I thought my computer was frozen.
It's too bad, the Apple mice finally have good functions but so many problems too.

Laptop mouse freaking out

Hi, I have a Lenovo L520.
Recently my mouse got really annoying. It is like that it is pressed down all the time. So I can't click anything. I really haven't tried anything to fix it. But I hope some of you guys perhaps could help me!

I misunderstood. So it is the touchpad of your laptop which has the problem?
If so, check if the keys can be pressed all the way down and that there is no obstacle underneath them. Sometimes small objects can get in there and cause trouble. If you are certain that the keys are clean and can be pressed all the way, we could try to see if you have the correct driver installed.

Keyboard and mouse freaking out

on my mac mini g4 1.42 i have an apple keyboard and one button usb mouse with the mouse connected through the keyboard and they keep dying on me.
example
i will just be browsing the internets or playing black and white and the mouse will stop working along with the keyboard more often then not it stops responding all together and i have to unplug/plug to get it to work again. I have not had the keyboard just stop on it's own while typing or anything and the mouse pad doesn't seem to make any difference. I have tried using different usb ports and the problem still persists.
I do not have another keyboard and mouse to try on my mini and while writing this i'm using the same keyboard and mouse on my macbook pro without any problems except for some minor mouse skips.
Please help this is has gotten to be rather annoying and thank you in advance for your help.

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.
Then trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.

Wireless Mighty Mouse or Radtech BT500?

i've been using the touchpad on my macbook and it seems not as efficient as using a mouse (especially in widescreen!) so i decided to spend MORE money on my macbook (on which i already spent over $2500). i already have a wired logitech laser mouse which works great, but i am in need of a portable bluetooth mouse.
i know that the wireless mighty mouse came out recently and looks stylish (as usual) but does not really go along with my blackbook in terms of color.
i've heard GREAT things about the Radtech BT500 (but seems too small?).
both are the same price (including the case for the radtech). i do not play games or do any sort of crazy tasking. i am just a college student who types and browse the web on most occasions.
any suggestions?

Random bluetooth connection notifications when mouse is out of reach

My MB Pro randomly shows 'connected' and 'connection lost' notifications (as if the mighty mouse I use at work is getting (un)connected) when my mighty mouse is out of reach. The MB does this whenever it wakes up and shows both notification messages alternately for about 7 or 8 times. Also, when I look at the bluetooth settings in System Preferences, sometimes it says that the mighty mouse is connected, while it is not even in the room.

Maybe best to start fresh and factory reset your band and unpair from your phone and restart the whole pairing

Mighty Mouse is freaking out!!

Sorry folks, don't know where else to post this. Last night my mighty mouse started reacting as if I was pressing the two side buttons but I was not touching them, it kept trying to launch Expose. The slightest touch would trigger the side button action. It took about 10 minutes of fighting the mouse to get to the control panel to turn of the Expose feature. (Try getting to the control panel when Expose is going of every 2 seconds!) Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Thanks for all these posts. I bought my Mighty Mouse two days ago. It worked fine initially but now is doing the same thing as you mentioned. Basically it is like the side buttons are way oversensitive and also "get stuck." I'm not a software guy but this seems to be a mechanical/electrical switch-type problem, not software. At any rate, your posts have been very helpful as now I will just return it and get my money back. By the way, I bought this at my local Apple Store, are they going to give me a hassle if I just want my money back, seeing that it is not a problem with my individual mouse but the design itself?
I have been a PC user since 1984, switched to Apple a few weeks ago, got sick of unreliablility of MS. I have had a few questions and problems and they were solved very quickly with one trip to the store. You don't get this with a PC, hardware blames the software, then software blames the hardware. So far I have not had this problem with my iBook. I guess this will be the true test.
By the way, I was told that Apple engineers actually monitor these discussions, if so, why haven't they come out with anything on this. Maybe it has just not been out long enough.

How do I keep crumbs out of my Mighty Mouse?

I keep getting crumbs in the little scroll ball and then it won't scroll.
How do I remedy this?

I think a handheld vacuum attached to your desk (inlet facing the mouse) might work. Just turn it on while your eating. That should just suck up all those crumbs before they can get into the mouse. Or just use a napkin before you touch the mouse.
I kinda have the same problem with my MX Revolution. I occassionaly have to vacuum it out but the holes and crevices are larger than the Mighty Mouse, so it is a little easier.

Wireless mighty mouse and Log In/Out

I have been having some issues with my wireless mighty mouse under Leopard. I have noticed that if I am logged in under one account and log out the mouse no longer will move on the screen. The "Right Click" functionality if available but the movement is not. I also have seen this behavior when logging out of an account and then logging into another account. I have tried disconnecting the mouse and then reconnecting it but that does not seem to solve the problem. The only work around is to log out using the keyboard and then log back in. I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar problems or knows of any solution to this.

I have noticed that if you log in/out with the mouse then I do not have the problem. But If I use the keyboard shortcuts to log in/out then the issue occurs. Possible bug?

My Mighty Mouse wont come out and play!

This is really not a new topic but an old problem for which I have yet to find an answer. I have a new iMac 27” i7 on which I have installed Windows XP Home Edition. I can’t get the Mighty Mouse to work.
I have tired a number of solutions. I have gone through the Windows trouble shooting process and not found anything wrong except that the mouse still doesn’t work. I have reinstalled the Bootcamp drivers from the Snow Leopard OS DVD but that did nothing.
All this has entailed a lot of exploration and exposition for me in the Windows wilderness and I have been able to identify the point at which my mouse refuses to come out of its hole.
In Windows when I go into the Control Panel/Printers and other Hardware/Bluetooth devices a window opens with two pale icons, one is the keyboard and the other the mouse. The Keyboard icon is identified as “passkey enabled” and “connected”. The mouse is identified as “enabled” but there is no connected entry. When I highlight the mouse icon, click on Properties and click on the Services tab a touch appears and looks for and finds a check box labelled “Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc (HID)”.
When I check this box and click either “OK” or “Apply” a window opens titled “Bluetooth Service Error” telling me that “Access is denied”.
Denied! Denied! Windows XP is behaving like my best friends mother telling me her son has a cold and I can't come over to play and he can't come out.
So how do I get this best friend (my Mighty Mouse) to come out and play in Windows XP?

I remember trying this download earlier in the year and getting nowhere. Still I gave it another shot.
I downloaded the update "AppleBcUpdate.exe" from the link

and tried to install it in Windows.
As the link you directed to me explained it is possible to get the following message "This update is not intended for this computer and will not be installed".
Well that put an end to that little idea.
It wouldn't install and the link didn't explain how to get around this message. The link also suggested that you should see if the drivers were correctly installed. I figured if the update wouldn't install it was because the drivers were already there. So I followed the instructions - Start menu/All Programs/Accessories/Systems Tools/Systems Information/Software Environment/(+) and looked for the drivers.
The link said that the Apple Built-in Bluetooth should be version 3.0.0.9. It was. It also said that the Apple Wireless Mouse driver should be version 3.0.0.5. Well there was no such driver.
This download was dated Oct 28th. My machine was bought in late Dec and has Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.2 so perhaps this version of Snow Leopard has Bootcamp drivers that supersedes this update.
Who know?
Anyway the problem remain.
I have a young friend who has just bought the small version iMac and I helped him install Windows XP using Bootcamp. He also can't use his mouse.
I should also correct myself at this point. I called my mouse "Mighty Mouse" when it should of course be "Magic Mouse". Well what do you expect I'm old. In my day there was only one mouse and his name was Mickey.

I'm BT mighty-moused out. Need advice.

I've had this Bluetooth mighty-mouse for about two months now. I sent back the first one because it was slow or deaf on the right-click. Apple sent me a new one with the same problem. I just 'gave up' and used it... but it is now worse.
Now with the house warmer (winter time here) I find that the mouse is even slower or deafer on right-clicking. It's a heat thing to the internal sensors as best I can figure. Also I had to change the bats the other day and didn't have lithium ones so I just used what I had. Seemed to work ok but now I see only 4 of 5 green bars are lit up in Preferences/Bluetooth. So maybe it's a combo of heat and low(er) power with this turkey?
Anyway I'm sick of it and will get a new mouse... and take the financial loss (like $75).
I'm wondering whether to get the corded MM (I like the design) but wonder if there might be the same right-click sensor issue? And if I get it should I run whatever software CD comes with it (I got a CD with the Bluetooth mouse and ran it.)
If not an Apple mouse, there are a million brands of mouse at CompUSA. Can anyone suggest one that works well with the Intel Mini? I like cordless, but it seems just one more thing to go wrong (although maybe USB cordless devices are 'better' than BT?)

I've used the Logitech Cordless Desktop S530 keyboard and mouse combination, and was quite happy with it (with one exception). The only downside to it was that the mouse is a sculpted right handed mouse, and I'm left handed, so it was awkward to use when on the left side of the keyboard. Other than that both the keyboard and mouse were very responsive and had a nice feel. At $150 (mfg suggested) it's a bit pricey. It's wireless but not Bluetooth so it requires a USB dongle.
If you do go with a Logitech or other cordless mouse, check the manufacturer's website to see that it's compatible with OS X. Not specifically listing such doesn't mean it won't work, but rather the preferences pane may not recognize it for feature customization (for instance, the Logitech MX 610 is in that category).

Mighty Mouse - Erratic Behavior?

Hello all.. I'm now on my third mighty mouse, and all the ones I've tried so far are behaving quite oddly.
It's like the side buttons are stuck, or extremely trigger happy, and when I move the mouse around the side buttons are engaging multiple times per second. I have to disable bringing up expose just to use the mouse, but it's rather annoying because the clicking noise is quite loud, and almost continuous as I move the mouse.
I've installed the software, I've tried blasting away my com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist or whatever, to no avail.
I don't think this is an issue with the user, either, as I've been happily using a Mighty Mouse at my work since about a week after they were released, and have no issues.
So this seems like something wrong with my OS install here (same version as my work), or the eMac in general. Help!

I have been trying to troubleshoot the same problem since I got my Imac and MM a month ago. After two MMs, two trips to the Apple store with the computer and 4 unfruitful calls to support. No answers.
I thought I had tracked the problem down to an unstable electrical outlet, (the problem would go away at the apple store or if the computer was plugged into another outlet) the electricians could find no problem. Now the problem has resurfaced when plugged into a new outlet. It seems to be a grounding problem with the MM, or some kind of static electricity problem. If I grab the metal base of the Imac, the problem disappears.

Does anyone have an answer to this problem other than a new mouse?

Mighty Mouse driving me nuts...please help

Just since last night, my mighty mouse (at least I think it's the mouse, but maybe it's something w/ the Op Sys--I dunno for sure) has been freaking out a bit. My cursor keeps jumping up to the exact top-center of my screen (NOT the upper left corner where it normally appears when you restart). It is extremely annoying. Sometimes it takes me like 30 secs. and a couple of dozen tries to get it to stay anywhere else on the screen in order to do any actual tasks with the mouse. But it will jump back up there within a min. or so at the max (usually it'll go back there just a few moments after getting it to stick somewhere else). It will even jump back up there in the middle of tasks (like when dragging & dropping...very, very annoying).
Just FYI...I ran a permissions repair and shut down completely (including pulling the plug from the wall) and restarted. Obviously...it didn't help.
Does anybody have any idea what is going on here? --Does my mouse need replacement? Is there any software fix I could try (my iMac is less than a yr. old and I bought the Apple Care Protection Plan)?

Hey thanx a lot man! --There's a very good possibility it's just dirty. I'm pretty sure my mouse pad is ok as it's the same one I've been using for almost a year though.
But I will definitely check out that link and do what I can as per it's advice also.

Wireless Mighty Mouse jumps around?!

I have an quite annoying issue with my wireless mm:
Sometimes it lets the cursor jump around and it is almost impossible to control it.
I am pretty sure it does not have to do with dust on the lens or shiny surfaces, because for 2 weeks it worked without any worries in the same environment. I almost believed the problem was gone.
Most of the time I manage to solve the problem by switching the mouse on&off for a couple of times and/or reinitializing the bluetooth connection.
Then it usually works for a while. But next time i wake my MacBook it starts all over again!!
Does anyone know this problem?

I too am having this problem. I bought the mouse about two months ago and the day I synced it with my iMac it started freaking out too. I tried all the usual things, i.e. cleaned it, tried different mouse pads, tuned down tracking, resync it, everything. It just didn't work, but then I went on a trip and decided, "What the heck, I'll take the mouse and try fixing it on my MacBook Air." I get to my destination and resync it with the Air and it works perfectly, so I figured my desktop was the problem. I get home a few days latter after having used the mouse flawlessly and try it again in my house, when suddenly, it begins to jump around my MacBook Air. So I turned off the Bluetooth on my iMac (only a few feet from me and the Air) and the problem went away... for about 30 minutes, then my mother got on her iMac in her room, one room away, and lo- the problem did recur!
I believe the problem has something to do with the fact that the Mighty Mouse and the Wireless Keyboard both use the entire gamete of frequencies the Bluetooth has, thus, it is trying to sync with anything with Bluetooth in it, cellphones, PS3's, ext... Because if I take one of my MacBook's out into my ranch, far from anything, including my iPhone, the Mighty Mouse works! But the second I bring something with Bluetooth in range of the mouse, BAM! CRAZY MOUSE TIME!
I have dug around the Bluetooth shell inside OS X and found you can limit which bandwidths your computer receives, but this solves nothing if it is the mouse itself trying to sync with every computer and phone within range. I doubt this is how Apple intended the thing to work but they may have assumed that it was only meant as a traveling mouse, or perhaps to be used by people with only one Mac?
Perhaps there is a firmware patch out there that might solve this? I have seen ones for OS 9 and below, but nothing about OS X

Mighty Mouse Won't Click?

I recently upgraded my mouse to the Mighty Mouse (wired) and have been enjoying it. However, once last week, and again just now, the mouse pretty much flakes out, and I can't click on anything. I can use it for switching applications via Expose, but once I left click on something, that document, window, application goes grey and I can't click on anything. I've ended up force quitting my aps and hard restarting. I have to use the keyboard to force quit, if I try to click on the quit button, the force quit grays out too.
I've read some of the posts about Mighty Mice (Mouses? Meece?) freaking out and expose toggling on and off, but I didn't read anything about them ceasing to work like this. Anyone else out there had this issue?
