Mighty Mouse function change

How do I change my right Mighty Mouse button to a "double click"?

I don't think that you are able to make the the become a double click mouse... just able to adjust the speed of the double click....
But there may be a way to make the icons respond to a single click...I'm still trying to figure that one out.
Cheers

  • Mighty Mouse Functionality in Bootcamp?

    Hi,
I use a Macbook 2.16ghz with Vista in Bootcamp. When I use the side buttons on my wired mighty mouse in Windows Vista, it activates as some sort of back button or "click" for whatever prgram I'm using. Does anyone know how to change the functions of the buttons (like the two side ones) on the mighty mouse so they can do different things in windows vista? Or is their some way to turn the side buttons off? Thanks.

I checked the Device Manager. It thinks the mouse is an Apple Mouse. The mouse properties are just like regular mice. I'll try using the intellipoint mouse driver sometime.

  • Mighty Mouse wireless: changing the setting of the low battery indicator

    Hi,
It seems that the low battery indicator for the wireless mighty mouse appears when the battery level goes under 30%. Is it possible to change this setting, e.g. make it occur when it passes the 5% of remaining battery?
    Thanks!

I fully agree with Tibo. I'd like to change this setting as well.
This low battery warning may be a good heads-up for someone who feeds their MM cheap batteries but, I got two Energizer AA Lithium batteries in mine and it literally "keeps going and going..." consistently for weeks while constantly receiving the annoying low battery warning.
Come on, users a perfectly capable of deciding what is fair-warning on the life of batteries we feed the MM.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Name Changes

For the past 5 months, I've used the same wireless Mighty Mouse without issues. During that time it retained the name I gave it upon setting it up for the first time. Then this morning (3/15), I go on my Mac and see it is label as "[MyLastName]'s mouse" and then after a few moments "[MyFirstName]'s mouse." I tried to change the name back, but I don't have the rename option under the Bluetooth cogwheel, only update name is available. Any thoughts?
This may seem trivial, but I always get concerned when something on my MBP changes suddenly. Thanks!

    HI
Mine works...I had to have it manually recognize the bluetooth mouse and install it. Right click the bluetooth icon in the lower right bar on windows and then go thru the recognition and install. When I boot up into windows, takes about a minute after finishing booting for the mouse to be recognized, but it works OK then

  • Mighty Mouse shortcuts changed

I'm using a wireless Mighty Mouse on OS 10.5.8. The track ball is set to Button 3 and when in a web browser, would open a new tab when clicked once. For some reason, its now acting like the Secondary Button (opens the sub menu). There used to be a mouse shortcuts preference window to set this, but I can't find it anymore. Does anyone know how I can modify the behavior of the button 3 for Mighty Mouse?

You will need to use software such as USB Overdrive to set one of the buttons to the Home key.

  • Where can I find Mighty Mouse drivers/prerferences

Does anyone know where the default settings are located for the Mighty Mouse or the easiest way to restore them?
I installed Controller Mate and Steermouse for a bit before uninstalling them but now I can't reconfigure my Mighty Mouse. (I want to disable the right click). I'd like to use Time Machine to restore the Mighty Mouse drivers/preferences.
    Please help!

My mouse system preferences are still there and I can customise most of the Mighty Mouse functions except it won't let me disable the secondary click for some reason i.e. I make the change in preferences but the context menu still appears when I right click.
I have uninstalled the 3rd party drivers using AppZapper.

  • What is button 4 on Mighty Mouse?

    Hi,
what exactly is the button 4-setting in the Mighty Mouse settings in Tiger and how can it be configurated.
    Thanks in advance - Christoph

there is also the possible setting "Button 4" and I just wanted to know what that is for and where I can maybe specify what button 4 should do - other than the possibilities that are shown in the drop-down menue. Sorry for making it not clear...
There is also the setting "Button 3" for the scrollball... I don´t want to believe that Apple just wanted to tell us that this is a third and fourth button... that would be obvious, wouldn´t it?
Are you asking what it means if you set a button's function to be "Button 3", or "Button 4"?
They don't do anything directly in OSX. OSX uses Left-click (Button 1) to select, and Right-click (Button 2) for contextual menu. X11 and other applications (such as Maya) may be written to work with a mouse with more than two buttons. When running such an application, the mouse settings determine which of the Mighty Mouse functions (pressing the scroll-ball, or squeezing the side buttons) will be interpreted by the application at the third or fourth button of a multi-button mouse.

  • Mighty mouse has lost functions!!

Hi everyone, i havent been able to find warranty info on the corded mighty mouse that came with my machine... How long is the mouse and keyboard warranty? Well the main problem.. is that the side buttons.. (default to Expose) and the 3rd click when you just click the mouse by pushing the scroll ball makes the dashboard work.. well those two functions quit working, i reset pram.. mouse isnt dirty.. scroll wheel works fine and left and right click work. but no side buttons or button on mouse, i did find one strange thing. if im in safari... and i click down on the mouse ball.. like i want to make dashboard come up.. and start to move the mouse around the entire page moves. (kinda like a PC) any ideas??? Any help would be appreciated.. I am running leopard.. 10.5.1 I am under my year of warranty... can i just take the mouse in to my apple store and swap it out??

ok, i went into the apple store and they did replace my mouse with the newer non grey buttons on the side.. they are now white.. But it still didnt fix it.. Leopard was messed up, i did a fresh install of leopard and everything works fine.. I still wonder though... what got corrupted??

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Looses Right Click Functionality

I am using a new Wireless Mighty Mouse (about one month old) With new batteries.
Since I started using it, the (secondary) right click would stop function after repeated use. After many frustrating trouble shooting attempts, I discovered that the Right Click will work again if the mouse is left idle for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I will like to know if this is a defect that's inherent in the Mighty Mouse system, and if so, has anyone found a solution to this problem or is there a fix?
Any input would be very much appreciated

    Mac G5. 2ghz DP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Unfortunately my experience suggests no. I'm on my 5th (or is it 6th?) wireless Mighty Mouse now, and they've all behaved just as you described. The latest replacement was only a week ago. I suspect the only point in replacing it further times would be to demonstrate that you've tried all you can. As far as I can tell, my only recourse at this point is convincing Apple to refund me, which is a shame because I like the scroll ball design.
I should note that I'm in Australia, in case stock has been slower to update here, but it shouldn't make a difference...
I've noticed that the problem seems to occur a lot more frequently under hot conditions - room heater on, hot hands etc. Could it still think the left button is being touched because it's warm and/or sweatier than usual?

  • Restoring function to Mighty Mouse

I once found a post here to temporarily restore vertical scrolling function to a Mighty Mouse by cleaning the scroll ball with a paper towel moistened with rubbing alcohol.
That worked for a while, but after 6 month of just working, it went to needing periodic cleaning to lately needing daily cleaning to a point where that doesn't seem to be doing the trick any more.
Anybody have a suggestion as to how to deep clean this thing? I seem to recall there once being some sort of stuff in a spray can that cleaned the potentiometer in an old analogue volume knob to fix the dead spots that would come in over time. Is there something like that available for a Mighty Mouse scroll ball?
That scroll ball can be a real spoiler, but that makes the apparent death of the function seem more frustrating and even infuriating.

Hi, I sympathize with your trouble, I had two MM's and both lost the use of their trackball's. I decided to crack them open and see what could be done. It's not so difficult to do, requires only a bit of courage, steady hands and a stanley blade. There is a good website giving full instructions but it seems to have gone, some pix though...http://www.flickr.com/photos/shirster/sets/1447737/
But basically, using a razor blade or stanley blade, the white rim can be gently prised off, from there it's a careful dismantle. The trackball is set in a small white plastic case, that can be popped open very easy. You will find the rollers are miniscule and it's no wonder they clog up. This not a very clever design, it just attracts far too much muck from our fingers. A far, far better design is to use four laser/LED's and a reflective ball, never gets clogged and works just as good. Having said that, the whole principle is right on, just not executed that good. Maybe v2 will improve things.

  • Mighty Mouse (Bluetooth) NOT Fully Functional

After installing Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), the Might Mouse BT used with a MacBook 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo only functions as a pointer but it cannot select with a click .Battery power is okay. The Mighty Mouse was fully functinal with Mac OS 10.6.8 on the same MacBook.

Replaced the batteries with fully charged rechargable batteries. The Might Mouse and now it is fully functional.
    My Theory
Rechargable batteries can be a problem with a Mighty Mouse.
Although the battery level was at 40%, the Mighty Mouse started to loose some of its functionality. If you choose to use rechargable batteries, as I encourage you to do, replace them before the battery level drops below 50%.

  • Mighty Mouse Problems - right click and battery changing

So I am on my second Mighty Mouse after the first one completely stopped working one day. Took it in to Apple and they gave me a new one.
This new one generally works ok (although right click fails every few days) but when I change the batteries and turn it back on the computer doesn't find it. I have to plug in my old Logitch and discover the Mighty Mouse and pair it again using the Logitech to control the cursor.
Then this morning the Mighty Mouse left click button stopped working so I turned it off and on again and once again, the computer didnt recognise the mouse and I had to go through the whole discovering and pairing process again using my other mouse.
Any ideas - I have checked the Bluetooth preferences and cant seen anything that I should be checking - it says my mouse is paired, connected and discoverable.
Any ideas or are Mighty Mouses just an ordinary piece of hardware - my experience so far has been ordinary!
    By the way - I have a new (December 07) 24inch iMac and 10.5.2

    Hey,
I just talked to German Apple telephone support. They fixed the problem for me! With fresh  installs of 10.7.5 the problem is that two files are missing that are needed for the mouse. In my case I could get them from another computer I own that ran Lion and did have the files. To get to the files you need do this:
    Go to
    /System/Library/LoginPlugins/BezelServices.loginPlugin
control-click that file and choose "show contents"
now in the finder window navigate to
    Contents/PlugIns/
In this folder should be two files named
    AppleBluetoothHIDMouse.plist
    and
    AppleHIDMouse.plist
If you don't find these files, you need to get them and put them in.

  • How to permanently change the name of my Mighty Mouse?

    Hi guys,
I used to have an Apple Wireless mouse which I named as "my full name". I then upgraded to the Mighty Mouse and went into the Bluetooth preferences to change the Mouses name to "My first name only" It works for a few days but then my old name keeps appearing when I click on the Bluetooth symbol in the top right corner of the desktop bar.
I cannot figure out how to permanently change the name without it changing back anywhere from a day later to a week later. It's strange.
    Any suggestions?

i will try to help u out. i have a might mouse as well.
glad u posted this...forgot there is a battery meter in there for the batteries! (buy rechargeable if u havent already).
well try this..instead of going into mouse preference...just click the bluetooth symbol at the top right of the screen (i have mine set to show). click the bluetooth tab. then change the name. close the pref pane.
see how long it lasts. i just changed my name....so we shall c

  • Deleting Backup changes Mighty Mouse Settings

    Hi All,
yesterday I stumbled upon a somehow funny phenomenon:
I deleted some large files from the backup (via Time Machine) and after that Button 3 and 4 of my Mighty Mouse were set to their default functions (which is ... "Button 3" & "4") instead of "Exposé - All Windows" and "Dashboard".
This is 100% reproduceable on my MBP, regardless wether I delete a single file or a bunch of them or if the notebook was just rebootet etc.
I reset them to my desired preferences, boom - next time after deleting within Time Maschine it's the default values of these Buttons again.
Besides that this is a bit boring (luckily I don't have to delete files from the backup that often) I'm concerned what other side effects can occur on my system which may be compromising it's reliability.
I also noticed that T M became a bit unresponsive since manipulating the backup.
It takes quite some time until I can navigate within T M.
    Any clues what's going on?
    Thanks a lot - Michael.

This is 100% reproduceable on my MBP, regardless wether I delete
a single file or a bunch of them or if the notebook was just rebootet etc.
    Still happens with 1.5.2
