Mighty Mouse Hangs on 10.6.1 Start UP

The "only" weird issue I have with the Snow Leopard 10.6.2 is when the Intel iMac
is cold (after being off all night) and I start. The startup sequence runs normal
until the mouse pointer is placed on the desktop and it freezes. I have to use the
button on the back to restart a second time. The 2nd restart always does the
trick and and the mouse works normal.
I have no idea what may be causing the corded Mighty Mouse to hang and I would
appreciate some suggestions. It is just an inconvenience to have to restart twice

If this is a wired mouse try a different USB port on startup. If that doesn't help
I don't have another port. I have the Mouse plugged into the keyboard as
all four USB port are dedicated to Printer, Keyboard (mouse), Serial to USB
adapter and an interface to digital com gear.
Delete this file.
com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
Just trashed it and did a successful restart. Stay tuned for the cold start
test in the morning. The only setting selected in the System Preference/Mouse
was to activate the right click button.
Good tip..... I hope it works!

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse - right click works for a while and then stops...

I recently bought a wireless Mighty Mouse, installed all the supplied software and paired it with my Macbook Pro. I've set up the right click as Secondary button and have been using it without any problems.
Then recently I've noticed that after using it for a while (in general applications like Aperture, Firefox etc), the right click will perform a Primary (left) click instead. Even if I take my hand completely off the mouse and click on the right side, it will perform a left click function. If I switch the Mighty Mouse off and back on, it starts to work normally again.
Is this a general issue with these mice? Or is mine just faulty? I can't see that it's a hardware fault as it returns to normal when I turn off/on the mouse. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

My new MacBook Pro and Wireless MM just arrived Friday and I spent Saturday transferring files from my PB G4 and installing Parallels/WinXP.
My Mighty Mouse worked fine initially, but then the Right Click (Secondary) reverted to Left Click (Primary). I reversed the settings to a "Left-handed" setup, the settings stuck. But the right button would not hold a Secondary setting.
I then paired the PB G4's Wireless Mighty Mouse (that I've had for several months) with the MacBook Pro - same issue surfaced. Both mice work consistently as represented with the PowerBook AND my IOGear bluetooth mouse works perfectly with both the PB and MBP (although the Mouse Preference Pane that comes up for the IOGear mouse is a reduced feature set that does not allow any additional button programning.)
I think it's a Preference Pane code issue. If the others who have posted here have ALSO installed Parallels, then the Parallels tools may be creating conflicts.

  • Wired Mighty Mouse isn't clicking some areas of the screen

I'm having some trouble with my Mighty Mouse since yesterday. The system started not responding to some clicks in most areas of the screen, such as the top menu, window titles, finder windows, desktop. The weird thing is that clicking in Dock icons works fine, as well as clicking inside a web page in Safari.
I've rebooted several times, ran the Snow Leopard 10.6.2 update, but none of these helped. :/
Do you guys know how to get around this? Next Monday I'll test this Mighty Mouse with my Mac Pro at work, I hope it's not a problem of the mouse itself, but a system problem.

I had exactly the same problem after giving my ball a super long scrub to clean it. Only the secondary click sometimes worked. Checked to cable iside, but no luck.
Then went to System Preferences as I figured the middle button was working a bit and set all buttons to Primary by selecting them with the Tab key, scrolling to my option with the up and down arrows, and confirming by pressing the Space key.
Now my mouse works as a simple one-button device, but that it OK for me. Must have damaged its brain with my ball cleaning. See how you go.

  • Mighty Mouse going nuts

I'm using a Mighty Mouse, and earlier today it suddenly started going haywire-- repeatedly clicking the sidebars on its own when I so much as rested my hand on it. I had to disable the expose feature because it was firing off and on rapidly. The mouse is currently making intermittent clicking noises and I'm not even touching it.
I found a video of someone with the same problem here: http://www.vimeo.com/3553224 ... as well as a few other posts from people with the same problem, but seemingly no solution.
It doesn't seem to be a problem with the mouse itself, as I've switched it out for several other MMs, and the problem only occurs on whatever mouse is hooked up to this computer.
If someone has some help, I'd appreciate it. I've effectively lost side-click capabilities, and the constant clicking sound is very annoying.

I have been having the same problem with no solution. In addition to the mouse clicking noises and dark/light desktop in the video that Trapezzoid referenced, any open windows also jump on the screen when the mouse is moved.
I contacted Apple tech support once and she was unable to solve, told me to take it for service. Best Buy tech told me he had same problem and was some sort of a software conflict issue and advised me to live with it and try to figure out what was running when it happens.
Although I am enjoying this Mac after 15 years of microsoft products, this issue is unacceptable.
Appreciate any help. My Mac is less than 12 months old.

  • Laggy Mighty Mouse (BT)

My mighty mouse cursor is lagging often... It looks like it's "skippin" a bit around.
That was not happening on my Mini before I switched to the Mac Pro. Any ideas?
There is nothing running the background or weird process hanging either.

I am having the same issue. My Mighty Mouse lags when I start and slow on mouse movements. I too went from a mac mini to a Power Mac.
The only things I have connected are they Bluetooth Keyboard and Bluetooth Mighty Mouse.
I even checked to make sure my phones Bluetooth was off.
I downloaded the "imousefix" on version tracker and it somewhat helped. It is better but not 100% like it was on my mini.

  • I have messed up the settings on my Mighty Mouse and don't know where they should be.  I cannot open a document by double-clicking anymore.  I don't know what setting adjusts that.

I need help with my Mighty Mouse settings.  Don't understand the settings.  I can no longer open a document by double-clicking.  I think I changed my setting someway when I was trying to correct or find my up and down scrolling.   Please help.

I think you need to un-pair your mouse.   Leave it a few minutes than re-pair it as if you were starting from scratch and using the following details.   Item 1 will probably meet your needs.

  • Odd Mighty Mouse behavior?

    Hi,
I have a brand new 24" imac with nvidia 8800 but my Wireless mighty mouse has started acting strange, jumping over the screen and making it impossible to use. I tried a wired mighty mouse and that's the same. I first noticed it after 10.3.5 upgrade but could it be a coincidence? I have done an archive and install back to 10.5.2 and it's still the same? It's not constant only intermittent.

Check for any dust in the LED hole. Try using a plain surface, like a solid colored mouse pad, if the surface is on the shiny side. If that does not work...
Try starting up from Mac OS X installation disc. If the mouse is also erratic when booted from another system, you can rule out the 10.5.3 update as the cause.
If it works normally when you are booted from the installation disc, there is probably some issue with your current installation.

  • Two mighty mouses, one macbook pro.

I have a wireless mighty mouse for home. Sometimes lately when I take my macbook pro somewhere, I noticed I have forgotten my mouse. So, I splurged and bought a 2nd mouse to leave in my case so I never have to remember to bring my desk one.
Well, it's not working as planned. I have to re-sync them (or whatever the term is...). I use the one in the bag all day, shut it off. Go home, start up mac, and now my desktop one doesn't work. It's really very, very annoying and time consuming to do this every time.
I did a quick search here, but just didn't see any definitive answers on why you can't use two (or more) wireless mice with one computer. Each has a unique hookup, so it should work fine.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello syn:
This is from the Bluetooth help database:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Bluetooth/1.0/en/blu24.html
If I read the last bullet correctly, you are trying something that Apple says you should not do (the why, I do not know).

  • Mighty Mouse problem with duo core intel mac mini & 26" LCD/TV display

I have an Olevia 26" LCD/TV display connected to my Intel Duo core mac mini and I have been using a Mighty Mouse with it from the start but all of a sudden the mouse pointer will not come out of the upper right corner. It moves out a little and then pops back into the corner.
I connected the Mighty Mouse to my g4 PowerBook and it tracks and scrolls fine. I've also cleaned it and tried it on a solid, dark service while connected to the mac mini and those things don't help either.
Any suggestions anyone. I've been using the Mighty Mouse for months and I love especially the ability to scroll horizonitally as I use Final Cut Pro and that features is GREAT in the timeline window.
I can't seem to find anything here in the discussions specifcally with this issue so any guidance would be appreciated!

    hi there--
if all is fine on the install disk, run disk repair http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672. if not, i would reset the open firmware. do this by holding apple-option-o-f on keyboard while you start up and you get a screen that says "welcome to open firmware". type in following commands, without quotations-- "reset-nvram" (hit return) and "reset-all" (hit return). second command restarts the computer. good luck.[:)]

  • My Bluetooth Mighty Mouse has totally stopped working

I have a bluetooth Mighty Mouse that seems to have stopped working. I was using it on a trip over in Guam. Then I came back to the states and it was in my suitcase/unused for several weeks with the batteries in it. Now that we have moved into an apartment, I would like to start using it again. But when I turn it on by sliding the little slider switch on the bottom, the little green light doesn't blink any more and it doesn't seem to be recognized by my computer. I have tried it with recharged batteries and other batteries, but no luck. Does anyone have a suggestion for me? I would really like to get this thing working without having to buy a new mouse. I have noticed that there is a little white tab just above where the batteries go. When the back cover is on, it appears that the slider switch somehow pushes on this little white tab. But with the cover off, this little white tab has some play in it (up and down) and can rattle around. Could there be something under this tab that is stuck down? Any advice would be appreciate! Thanks!

    Hello ba:
No light=no power to the device.
If you happen to be near an Apple store, take the mouse in and have them try it on one of their systems. I do not think there would be any charge for that.

  • Is there any way to turn the low battery warnings off for my Mighty Mouse?

I noticed a pop-up warning on start-up when my battery life reached two bars for my new wireless Mighty Mouse. Also the battery sign kept on flashing in my menu bar.
I was wondering if there was a way of turning these warnings off, save uninstalling the Apple software, or should I just change batteries and not worry about getting as much use as I can out of my current pair.
I've also turned off "show bluetooth status in menu bar" in mouse preferences but it keeps on turning on at startup and it doesn't seem to get rid of the low battery indicator flashing on and off in the menu anyway.
(And would turning off system events as a login item disable the startup warning?).
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hello Paul:
My own experience is that when the warning pops up (regardless of the yellow bars), you need to change the batteries. In my case I use rechargeable 2500 mAh batteries and an Energizer recharger that charges AA and AAA batteries in 15 minutes.

  • Mighty Mouse Bluetooth Connectivity

    Hi,
I have a wireless Mighty Mouse and a new MacBook. If I turn on my mighty mouse first, then turn on my MacBook, the mouse works fine, but if I forget to turn on my mighy mouse until after I have already turned on my MacBook, it will not connect automatically!!??
When I had a Windows PC, I had a wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech. Even if I turned on my PC first, then turned on my mouse or keyboard, it would automatically start working, but now I am using my Mac, unless I turn on my mighty mouse first, my Mac will not find it. Why is this and is this normal??
I have just purchased a wireless Apple keyboard, I have not used it yet, but will the same thing happen with this also??
Please help. Thank you for all your help with this annoying matter.

    Hi again Dai Bach,
    Thanks for your help mate.
I was wondering, you use a wireless mighty mouse as well. I have now own 2 mighty mouse, my current wireless one and a wired one I had with my old Windows PC before I switched.
I am having great difficulty using the right click, which you are supposed to be able to do with the mighty mouse instead of control clicking to get the contextual menu up. If I do use the right click, it very rarely works, if it does work, I am amazed, but I can never repeat it!!!
I have to resort to control clicking with the mouse to get the contextual menu to appear, which sort of misses the point of having the mighty mouse in the first place!!! If this was the first time it had happened, I would say it was a problem with my mouse, but this is the second mighty mouse I have had and the same thing happened with my first one.
I tried changing the mouse settings to see if the mouse hardware works correctly. I went into the keyboard and mouse system preferences and switched the primary and secondary mouse buttons over so it was configured for a left handed person. The left click and right click actions then worked perfectly, but when I put the mouse back to the standard configuration, so the primary click was the left mouse button and the secondary cllick was the right, the right mouse button stopped working when I wanted to right click something!!
Why does the right click work when I have it set as the primary button, but not work when I have it set as the secondary button? Do you or anyone else have any ideas? Does this happen to you too? Is this a well known problem?
Cheers. Thanks for all your help.

  • Bluetooth headset disconnects wireless Mighty Mouse

I have a Jabra bluetooth pair of headphones (BT620S) that I use with my Intel iMac. They work great as headphones since they are connecting via A2DP. But they also have the option of being used as a headset, for example with softphones or similar. Only this is useless!
Every time I connect as a headset, my mouse disconnects and the sound result I get is really bad. It's like an inch thick concrete wall is between the headset and the computer, even though I'm sitting immediately in front of it?!
Any ideas? I've tried to unpair and pair both devices again. I also have a wireless Apple keyboard. Thanks!

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse unresponsive during Bluetooth connection to K800i

Whenever I use Bluetooth to sync my Sony Ericsson K800i with my Mac, I notice that my Wireless Mighty Mouse sometimes becomes slow and unresponsive. I have to switch the mouse off and on again, after switching off Bluetooth on the phone, for the mouse to go back to normal.
I am using a third-party plugin to provide iSync support for this phone, but I don't know if that would make a difference. I never had this issue with my K750i.
Any suggestions would be very welcome!
    iMac Core 2 Duo 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The combo update rolls up all the patches Apple has released since 10.5 hit the shelves into one monster download; so you don't need to have installed 10.5.3 to install 10.5.4 - you can go from any version. Some users swear that applying the combo update makes for a more reliable Mac, and it fixed my Mac problem.
But beware the combo is over 1/2 Gb in size and will take a good while to download, even on a DSL connection. You can find it on the Apple downloads page at:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/
There are separate versions for the regular version of MacOS X and the more specialised server edition, so make sure you download the correct version (most people just need the file named Mac OS X 10.5.4 Combo Update).
Once you've got the update, close any applications you are running (remembering to save your data), double-click the update to start and follow the instructions. You will have to restart your machine at the end of the installation and rebooting may take a little longer than normal - this only happens the first time you restart your machine. Hopefully you'll be back in business as soon as you see the login prompt.
    HTH.
    Mike.

  • Can bluetooth mighty mouse be used with windows XP?

i installed XP with bootcamp, and my mighty mouse worked the install of windows and everything, until i actuallly got into windows... any ideas?

It works fine. After setup (use 0000 as pas code) the bluetooth device, you can use it. Upon logging in to the XP, just click once using mouse and then mouse will start working.
However, not all the functions for mighty mouse (like horizontal scrolling, side button etc) works in WinXp side.
