Mighty mouse: installing it in windows requires a "passkey"

i just bought a mighty mouse and it works fine in os x 10.5.7. trying to install it in windows on the same mac, i am asked to enter the passkey for the mouse. you can get far by choosing the option "no passkey", but to complete the installation they ask for it again. what might this passkey be? tried searching the mouse packaging, and also tried entering the number on the mouse without success. tried all the standard 1111s and 00000s etc. help!

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
the default passkey for the wireless Mighty Mouse is '0000' (four zeros).

Stefan

  • Mighty Mouse/Mice "Freezes" On Windows 7 w/ iMac... Solutions?

    Hi.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit on a Mac OSX 10.7 using Bootcamp 3.0.
I'm using an iMac 21.5" Late 2009 model.
There seems to be some connectivity issues with Mighty Mouse's Bluetooth and Windows 7.
As I tend to move the mouse, it begins to "glitch up" and freeze... this happens randomly
at any given moment for a couple of seconds.Sort of a jerkiness motion. Before it would make
    a "BEEP" sound.
I've already taken some measures to solving this issue.
    1. Through services.msc, I set "connectivity" to Automatic
    2. Through the Bluetooth settings on system tray, it does NOT alert for connectivity.
Despite these resolution attempts it still doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone have a solution to make the Mighty Mice work properly?
    Thanks for your help.

There is a Boot Camp forum, because your issue only seems to be with in Win 7 I'd recommend reposting there.

  • Can bluetooth mighty mouse be used with windows XP?

i installed XP with bootcamp, and my mighty mouse worked the install of windows and everything, until i actuallly got into windows... any ideas?

It works fine. After setup (use 0000 as pas code) the bluetooth device, you can use it. Upon logging in to the XP, just click once using mouse and then mouse will start working.
However, not all the functions for mighty mouse (like horizontal scrolling, side button etc) works in WinXp side.

  • Apple wireless Mighty Mouse not working in Windows XP Pro/Boot Camp

I was able to get Windows XP Pro to install successfully on my new iMac, but I can only get a wired Microsoft USB mouse to work with it. When I boot to WinXP with just my wireless Mighty Mouse, the wireless mouse is completely unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution? Thanks!

  • Mighty mouse install on a macbook

Do I need a usb mouse and keyboard to set up my new mighty mouse?
I only have the keyboard and track pad that is built in.

check out some of the options with the mighty mouse once its installed, like setting up the right click button. coming from a PC user this was one of the coolest features about the mouse for me.

  • Mighty Mouse + installing bluetooth

    Dear all,
I have an iBook G4 that does not have a bluetooth. I was given a Mighty Mouse as a gift and I would like to make it work on the laptop. Any suggestions as to what I should do? How much does installing a bluetooth cost? I take it that I have to install a bluetooth to make the mouse work with the iBook. I tried to see it for myself on the Apple Store website but I seem to have difficulty locating the necessary kit.
I use my Might Mouse very comfortably with my iMac which does have a bluetooth. However, the problem is that since I can't find a good pad for the Might Mouse it has scratched the surface of my desk so badly that I have stopped using it on my desk. If you have any suggestions for a good functioning pad for the Might Mouse, I would appreciate to hear. In fact, a good pad would do me a good favor. (The reason I am referring to a good Apple-friendly pad is that I purchased a pad from the local Walmart that works well with my wired Apple Mouse but not with the Mighty Mouse.)

You can get a Bluetooth USB dongle and use that with your iBook.
The Mighty Mouse shouldn't scratch your desk even without using a mouse pad.

  • Boot Camp, Aluminium Bluetooth Keyboard & Mighty Mouse not seen by Windows

I recently installed bootcamp (win xp pro sp2), and am unable to get windows to recognise my bluetooth keyboard and mouse. they work fine in OSX, and i know that the bluetooth drivers are good in windows because i can connect to my phone. I think the problem may be with pairing them with multiple computers, because while trying to figure out why it wasnt working i attempted to pair the keyboard with my ibook g4, and was unable untill i removed it from my MBP through system prefs. I have searched high and low and havent been able to find a solution, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

What I have had to do, after booting into Windows, is toggle the mouse and keyboard power off and on. After about 3 or 4 seconds, Windows finally "sees" the input devices and everything works fine. It is a pain, I know.

  • Driver for wired mighty mouse driver in windows xp pc

I'm looking for drivers for the wired apple mouse aka mighty mouse to run in windows xp pro to have horizontal scrolling.  Currently the generic plug & play driver allows vertical scrolling and horizotal only if the vertical scroll is not present.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I have a MBP running Bootcamp 1.1.2 and XP SP2. My Bluetooth Mighty Mouse works well within XP with the exception of the left-right scrolling.
First I installed the mouse in the OSX operating system. Then when I booted in XP, I used the "Bluetooth Devices" from the control panel to find and connect the mouse with no problems.
I didn't have to worry with any mouse driver installation.
Is Bluetooth working in XP mode?

  • Mighty Mouse and Windows XP on  MacBook

    Hello Gurus
I am trying to connect my might mouse with XP. There is a point during bluetooth configuration when windows requests a passkey for the mighty mouse. I asked windows to pair the device with now passkey but the system later asked for a passkey anyway. Doed anyone know how to connect the mightmouse with windows xp.
    Thank You.

Have you tried either 0000 or 1234? Every Bluetooth device I've ever used responds to one or the other.

  • Blue Tooth Mighty Mouse compatability?

I've been needing a wireless mouse for a while, preferably blue tooth, the new mighty mouse and one logitech mouse are the only blue tooth mouses I've ever seen with more than just left and right click and scroll, but the logitech one was discontinued. I really want to get this now, but I need a mouse for gaming in bootcamp and I've heard blue tooth doesn't work or something, it appears to work when I'm in XP but I don't have anything Blue Tooth to test it. second even if blue tooth wasn't a problem it doesn't say under the Mighty Mouse page if it supports windows.
does anyone know if it could work in XP on a macbook too? (maybe a little soon to ask questions about it)

Generally speaking Bluetooth is not fully supported under Boot Camp. So in that regard it may not work correctly. I did attached a Logitech MX900 Bluettoh mouse under Boot Camp and everything seemed fine whereas my Apple Wireless keybaord didn't want to work. So really your milage may vary.
The thing with the new Mighty Mouse is that it may require specific drivers for you to be able to configure the additional buttons. If this is the case then it won't work as Apple will need to provide those drivers.
If gaming is important I would go for a USB wireless mouse so you are able to fully configure the mouse and install its software under Windows.

  • Mighty Mouse - Mouse/keyboard system preferences gone

I have a bluetooth mighty mouse instaled in my computer but now I cannot access the mouse/keyboard preferences in the System preferences. They do not appear. The mouse is working just fine but I cannot change anything in the preferences. And I cannot watch the state of charge of the batteries either. I cannot see nothing. That tab is all grey now.
I tried also to do so via the bluetooth preferences but when I ask to open the Bluetooth preference of the mouse a window appears and says that the mouse preferences are not shown because I haven't any mouse connected to my computer.
I remember that when I had access I changed the name of the mouse.
I already deleted the connection and tried to re-install it again. But the mouse appears with the same name, and the problem persists.
    Please... Any bright soul?

I have a slightly different problem: My bluetooth Mighty Mouse works in a basic mode (primary & secondary button, scroll wheel) but the side buttons and scroll buttons do not work. In the Keyboard & Mouse preferences, I have Dashboard set up for the scroll button and Expose set up for the side buttons. They do not work. If I set up the primary or secondary buttons for Dashboard or Expose, it works. In the Bluetooth tab, the Bluetooth Mouse Name is blank and Battery Level is grayed out. In the Bluetooth Preferences, it shows Mighty Mouse connected. Any ideas? I am running OS X 10.5.4 (but it didn't work in 10.5.3 either)

  • Lost function of button 3 and 4 on Mighty Mouse

For the last few months, I've used a Logitech trackball on my iMac. Recently, I needed to plug the Mighty Mouse back. Buttons 3 and 4 (dashboard, and expose all windows) don't work. I've tried:
    1) creating a new user (admin and normal)
    2) double checking the keyboard/mouse settings
    3) resetting the PRAM
and nothing works. Any idea what could be causing this?

    Hello,
This seems to be a frequent complaint from people who have installed the drivers for 3rd-party mice.
See if there is a method to uninstall the driver that came with your other mouse.
Unfortunately, there may not be a way to remove those drivers and revert to the standard built-in drivers.
As a means of experimenting, I would try downloading the latest version of the OS 10.4.x "Combo" update for your computer.
For the Intel computers, this would be:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047combointel.html
For the PowerPC computers, this would be:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047comboppc.html
It is entirely possible that if you have the mighty mouse installed and connected when you re-install these updates, that it may over-write the 3rd-party drivers and re-enable the factory drivers (which is what you need).
There is a method to revert to the factory supplied driver. The questionable, and technical, route:
You'll find the directions in the last post at:
    http://forums.macnn.com/archive/index.php/t-267713.html
If none of that works, then about all I could suggest is re-installing OS X and avoiding the Installation of any mouse drivers (including those that come with the Mighty Mouse - they are unnecessary and add problems).
    I hope this helps.

  • Mighty Mouse (wired) Button Config in Vista

Is there a comparable configuration application in Vista for configuring button actions on the mighty mouse? The windows control panel sees the mighty mouse but does not allow it to configure the side buttons or change the default action of the scroll ball. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

It isn't likely that there is an alternative available for the Mighty Mouse in Vista. This is because the buttons on the Mighty Mouse are optimized for use in Mac OS X, not Windows. The drivers and stuff that allow the Mighty Mouse to work in Windows are not the same as in OS X, and lack the driver support for the special buttons. I would recommend buying a "Certified for Vista" mouse if you want special features like that in Vista. If you're using Boot Camp on a Mac, I would recommend having a Mighty Mouse for Mac OS X and a Vista Certified mouse from Microsoft or Logitech for Vista.
