Mighty mouse malfunctions while newly 1.2 updated 5G ipod is connected

lol this is really strange.. when i have my 5g ipod (which i just updated to the new firmware) sitting in my dock and i plug my mighty mouse into the other open usb port on my macbook. expose starts randomly switching on and off and the mouse starts clicking as if i pressed the side buttons extremely fast. it does this until i touch the mouse. as soon as i touch it it stops but i cannot press the side buttons to use expose n e more. it doesnt click or respond to pressure. once the ipod is ejected then disconnected from the dock the mighty mouse works flawlessly. this is extremely odd. hopefully there will be a new 1.2.1 ipod update soon lol. besides that i love the new updates
PS: brightness gets an A+ and same with the quicker search feature with the letter scrolling. too bad we dont get the more advanced search feature.. oh well

ok sorry folks.. turns out its actually my 3rd party iPod dock that broke somehow. when i use just the regular ipod cable everything is fine.
too bad i threw out the receipt just the other day

Mighty Mouse Scrolling *after* 10.4.6 update

I updated to 10.4.6 in between repairing permissions
(I do like how repairing permissions no longer displays
already repaired permissions). I've noticed that I can
no longer scroll down with my Mighty Mouse. I can
scroll up and sideways though. Has anyone else
noticed this behaviour?

Awwww sorry to have made u waste your previous time, but this is a DISCUSSION board and I was discussiing, also apple read these, and the more mention of a faulty mouse and that its a possible design flaw might get them to re-evaluate their design. I learnt in this discussion board before about apple's design flaw with their black optical mouse.

Error -3259 while downloading OS 4 update for iPod touch

I am trying to update my iPod touch 3G OS from version 3.1.3 to 4.0. I am using the latest version of iTunes(9.2.1.5) for doing it. When I download the update, it gets downloaded fully (366.4 MB/366.4 MB) but in the last moment, it stops downloading and reports a error message saying that the connection is lost. I tried doing it many times but still I get the same error.However, I am able to download all the other apps from iTunes store without any difficulty.
I tried restarting the computer, adding exceptions to windows firewall and everything that is given in this link related to err -3259 http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2799 but none of these seem to help.
Can someone help me figure out what the problem is? Thanks in advance.

I get exactly the same error.. but found no resolution yet.
The problem is my iPhone is not working,, requires restore and it forces me to update...
i click on Restore & update.. go through the download process and then - poof - get the above error!

If they have been updated to iOS 5 you can. You need to have a Wi-Fi network setup.

What is honestly wrong, every time i update my ipod now with itunes 7, it wont stop updating and it says its updating but it isnt, why is it doing this with itunes 7???

Mighty Mouse crashes while syncing Apple TV

Has anyone else encountered this? As soon as I disconnect the Apple TV from my iTunes my mouse goes back to normal.

Clone your system to another drive. After you have your new system updated, use Migration Assistant to pull in what you are 100% sure is safe to use.
(I use A&I once, and I used the Update in Place once, but I clone my drives constantly and can always go back and restore from a prior version....
when you get your system installed and updated and "clean" is a good time to archive it, clone it to another drive for emergencies, and also, create a disk image of it (while it is still 20GB or so. And then do your updates 3rd party as well as merge and migrate settings and such.
Done right, you can always revert back, undo, restore.
If you are cloning just an OS and apps, it is quick and simple and takes 15-20 minutes, then 5 minutes to update 'as needed.'
You can put /Users on another drive, separate from the OS/Apps, and just "link" to it and direct the system (NetInfo Manager) to look there and BINGO! all your settings are in place. I never like or use the "everything on one drive" setup.
You don't need to lose settings at all. Maybe some apps will need to be installed. Depends on setup, if they need to use an installer, or if they can be merged back.
Test from a new drive with your new alternate system. Or test from your SuperDuper clone - after running Disk Warrior on it.
SuperDuper cleans (skips) cache folders which helps. You could just as easily try using FSCK command and Applejack.

ITunes play count does not update when iPod is connected

iTunes keeps track of how many times i play the song on my computer but does not update when I connect my iPod. Is there a way to fix this??

Hi folks. I just got a replacement unit (20GB click wheel) due to drive failure. I have installed the latest iPod Updater and the newest version of iTunes on my iMac.
When I connect my new iPod for the very first time, should I run the iPod Updater or will this be done automatically at the set up process??

Mighty Mouse tracking issue while downloading files

Hi everybody ...
I'm the owner of the Wireless Mighty Mouse... For about 2 months I'm recognizing a strange behavior.
When I do start a download via Safari (I'm connected to the Internet via Wifi 54Mbits (2,4 GHz)) the mouse tracking start to bucking. During the download no fluent motion occurs. After the download finished the bucking stops and the tracking flows seamlessly. Does anyone have the same problem? I'm not quite sure what the exact problem is but could this behavior result from the connectivity frequency of bluetooth and wifi? And please don't tell me to reset my keyboard or my mouse. I already did that. I also updated to the latest official software update for bluetooth.

I have the same problem, but mine usually shows up when I have MS Word opened for a while. It is as if there is some other process cycling that interferes with the tracking. Sometimes it shows up as a major lag (cursor stutters and moves a little bit for a large hand motion) or the cursor jumps way across the screen. It isn't always when MS Word is opened, but more frequent when it is (occasionally with Pages too). Changing batteries doesn't help, changing surfaces doesn't help. After some time, the problem resolves and mouse moves smoothly again, for a while. This has been more of a problem in the last few months than before.... was the Bluetooth driver changed? Does it have anything to do with a cache that is used before changes are saved?
Where is the Bug Report link... I can never find it. Just put it right on the Support page please, BIG.

Bluetooth Mighty Mouse - right click works for a while and then stops...

I recently bought a wireless Mighty Mouse, installed all the supplied software and paired it with my Macbook Pro. I've set up the right click as Secondary button and have been using it without any problems.
Then recently I've noticed that after using it for a while (in general applications like Aperture, Firefox etc), the right click will perform a Primary (left) click instead. Even if I take my hand completely off the mouse and click on the right side, it will perform a left click function. If I switch the Mighty Mouse off and back on, it starts to work normally again.
Is this a general issue with these mice? Or is mine just faulty? I can't see that it's a hardware fault as it returns to normal when I turn off/on the mouse. Any ideas?

My new MacBook Pro and Wireless MM just arrived Friday and I spent Saturday transferring files from my PB G4 and installing Parallels/WinXP.
My Mighty Mouse worked fine initially, but then the Right Click (Secondary) reverted to Left Click (Primary). I reversed the settings to a "Left-handed" setup, the settings stuck. But the right button would not hold a Secondary setting.
I then paired the PB G4's Wireless Mighty Mouse (that I've had for several months) with the MacBook Pro - same issue surfaced. Both mice work consistently as represented with the PowerBook AND my IOGear bluetooth mouse works perfectly with both the PB and MBP (although the Mouse Preference Pane that comes up for the IOGear mouse is a reduced feature set that does not allow any additional button programning.)
I think it's a Preference Pane code issue. If the others who have posted here have ALSO installed Parallels, then the Parallels tools may be creating conflicts.

Mighty Mouse loses connection since 10.6.8 update

Hi I have recently installed the 10.6.8 OSX upgrade in preparations for the Lion release and I am having problems with Mighty Mouse losing connection.
Basically the mouse operates fine until the mouse is static whereby it loses connection, I then have to wiggle the mouse around and click the mouse to regain connectivity, if the mouse remains still for even a second it just drops again.
I have tried changing batteries, removing both my mouse and keyboard from the bluetooth preferences, adding them as favourites as well as doing the PRAM and SMC resets.
I only assume the problem is linked with 10.6.8 update because prior to this update the mouse was working without a hitch.
My keyboard appears to be working without the same problem.
Any suggestions?

I encountered the same problem as you report after the upgrade to 10.6.8 on both my family's MacBook Pros. I had no problem with my MM up to that point. Thereafter, the MM would not work I went thru' the same steps as you did to try and overcome the problem. It pairs OK and says it is connected but the MM will not work. If you switch off the MM, a message is received "Connection Lost". The keypad mouse works as does an USB mouse, but no MM despite numerous attempts at resetting, clearing, replacing batteries, bluetooth reset, etc.. I am as baffled as you were and put the fault down to the SL upgrade, but I suppose the upgrade may (somehow) have blown the MM, but it still lights up and says it is connected!!. WEIRD!
