Mighty Mouse Question

Trying to help my sister with a problem in iphoto. When I tell her to right click on a photo, she says that no menu shows up. What could be wrong? I also had her try right clicking on other things and still no menu. Does something need to be activated in her mouse preferences?
Thank you.

A simple fix for Mighty Mouse right-click issues
Thu, Jan 4 '07 at 7:30AM PST • Submitted by shakerben
I have heard many people complaining that the Mighty Mouse doesn't recognise their right clicks, due to the touch-sensitive nature of the device. I personally have no problems with it, but a lot of my friends use my Mac and seem not to have the knack for right-clicking. So I came up with a solution, and now no one has any problems.
I simply changed secondary button to the ball rather than the right button. The mouse seems to recognise when you're pressing the ball every time. It's very a simple hint, but it really works.

  • Wireless Keyboard + Wireless Mighty Mouse questions

Hey everyone, Mac users please don't hate me for asking this but I have some questions about using the Apple wireless keyboard and wireless Mighty mouse on a windows XP PC (Not in boot camp).
I have already bought the wireless keyboard, and have it working with my Windows PC using a Belkin bluetooth dongle, and was just wondering why the Control + Alt + Delete combo on the apple keyboard of (Control + option + Fn + Backspace) isn't working for me? I think it may be something to do with the keyboard being wireless, or possibly the Fn key will not work in Windows? I also would like to be able to remap some of the "F" keys on the wireless keyboard to windows functions like the volume and playback/ pause media keys. Is there any software anyone can reccomend which will allow me to do this?
My second question is about the wireless mighty mouse. I haven't bought it yet, but I have strong intentions of doing so and using it with a Windows XP (to be updated to Win7 when it gets out of beta ~Sept) PC. I love apple hardware- peripherals especially, which is why I already bought the wireless keyboard and now wish to buy the Mighty mouse along with a 30" Apple display to use with the PC in my office at home. I have read mixed reports on many Mac forums about the compatability of the WMM with Windows, and have come here to get it cleared up before I spend close to £50 on a mouse that may or may not work. I heard somewhere that some but not all functions of the mouse would work in Windows, whereas somewhere else I read that a guy had installed a driver that was extracted from a (I think Leopard) Mac install disk and that the mouse was working 100% on his XP or Vista PC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys, I built myself a special edition of one of my own design Eclipse series PC's to put in my new office at the start of this year and normal monitors/ peripherals just dont look right in that room because its very minimalist and modern and Apple make the most minimalist but functional hardware I know, which is why I want to use this KB/Mouse/Monitor combination.
    Thanks,
    Matt.

I'm REALLY interested in how you got your Apple wireless keyboard to work on your XP PC. Was the keyboard recognized and working immediately? I've been reading thread after thread; still can't figure it out. Can you provide any help? Thanks.

  • Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad & Mighty Mouse questions

I apologize first for not knowing where the heck to search for this or post the question. (I searched the Apple site for info/downloads, as well as the Forums.)
I just picked up a wired kybd (A1243) and wired Mighty Mouse (A1152) from eBay at a pretty good price, but they came without any documentation or s/w. They seem functional, to the extent I can test them.
I'm planning to use these (for now) with my iBook (as a desktop), and later with an iMac.
I know there's programmable features to the mouse, and keys on the kybd I don't recognize, at the very least.
Could someone point me to the appropriate downloads? Thanks!!!

This is the original wired aluminum keyboard (with numeric keypad) software download (update) link. Make sure your 'Universal Access' mouse & trackpad function is deselected or your numeric keypad keys will not work.
    Good luck.

  • Another Mighty Mouse Question

Have read several posts on the Mighty Mouse but none I saw covered this.
When I first purchased the iMac last week, while getting to know the new computer I found that if I had the cursor in a window and held the option key down and moved the scroll ball on the mouse it would zoom up or down the image in the window. It quit doing this the other day and have searched all over and can't seem to find out why or what I may have turned off to make it quit.
If anyone has an answer I would appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Barry

Found the answer for my question. Seems to work in Firefox, so I guess that's a Firefox only option.

  • Simple Mighty Mouse question

I didn't really know where to post this question, but here goes:
Is it possible to program a button click on the mighty mouse as a keystoke? I wanted to check before forking money out on one.

I just paid $49 for the Mighty Mouse and ASSUMED I'd be able to program keystrokes like back, forward, close window, etc. I was wrong and I'm disappointed. This is a horrible oversight on Apple's behalf. Most other multi-button mice allow you to do this. My old Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse was able to do this. I understand that USB Overdrive has added support for Mighty Mouse, I hope it works - then I won't have to go back to the Microsoft Mouse. The real bummer is that USB Overdrive cost $20 - that will mean that I paid $69 for a pointing device!

  • Mighty Mouse Question (I don't know where else to put this)

I bought a MacBook about two months ago, had some problems, had it replaced, and have loved it ever since.
But now I'm having some trouble with my Mighty Mouse that I bought at the same time as the MacBook. Last night, the scroll bar stopped working. Not completely, but it only will scroll down, and not up. This morning I tried it again, and it didn't work. I also tries using it in my sister's laptop, a PC, and it had the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem, now.
My question is: can I get a replacement, or am I going to have to buy a new one? They're not cheap mice, and it's not like it's old or anything. Also, if anyone has any magical ways to fix it, that'd be appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

I had the same problem with the Mighty Mouse. After two months of aggravation, my boyfriend took it apart to see what the problem was. It's actually glued together, rather than just snapping back in place. We figured out that the problem was that the ball got dirty (as they all do), but because the Mighty Mouse bottom piece is actually glued to the mouse, we weren't able to put it back together properly, even with glue. So, now the Mighty Mouse (after only two months of use) in the electronic recycling box and we are using a generic mouse. We had wanted to buy a wireless Mighty Mouse (love the placement of the scrolling ball), but if you can't take it apart to clean the rolling ball and it stops working, then it is simply bad design.

  • Quick Mighty Mouse Question

    Hey Guys,
Im not sure if this goes here, but i followed links to "mighty mouse" and it lead me to this section.
Anyway, i just got a wired mighty mouse (i figured it would be more convienient as bluetooth drains battery faster), and i was wondering where i register it..if i can register it.
It appears that i cannot locate it in the register options..unless it is generalized into a section..
    can anyone help me out?

    Mark,
I don't believe that you need to worry about registering small peripherals like keyboards, mouses, etc. Just make sure to hang onto the purchase paperwork for proof of purchase and the warranty begin date. You are covered for a year.

  • Mighty Mouse Questions

Have a new iMac Intel Based -- wireless Mighty Mouse
When using photoshop and moving the mouse -- the mouse has to move disapportionate amount of space. Do not have this same problem on documents and internet. Suggestions for tightening things up?

No, I said there were no options that covered what I am looking for. The path you provided is correct there are config settings in there, just not the one I need.
The problem I am having is when I pick the mouse up to move it, the mouse still can see the surface below it and then moves the pointer. I have a wired mouse and it isn't as sensitive as the BT one. I am used to picking up the mouse to a certain point and then moving it. It would appear that the sensor in the BT mouse is more sensitive then the wired mighty mouse.

  • BT Mighty Mouse Questions

I have the BT mouse connected to my MacBook Pro but have a "problem" with how sensitive it is. I pick the mouse up a lot when I move, I have a small workspace, but even when it is off the surface the sensor still registers my movement. Is there a way to make the sensor on the mouse less sensitive so I don't have to pick it up as far?
    Thanks

  • Mighty Mouse scroll failure

I'll put it in here under MacBook, 'cos I use one, but it's really a Mighty Mouse question – but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to put it...
The scroll 'nubbin'(?) on my corded Mighty Mouse has stopped scrolling down. It will scroll left, right and up, but not down.
I've unplugged and replugged the USB, restarted twice but it refuses to scroll in one of it's four axis.
Is there any troubleshooting I can do before I take my MacBook and mouse to a friends house and try a process of elimination?
MacBook, white   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well after using these fixes several times after a while the scroll stopped working (only in the down direction again) completely.
Eventually I resorted to opening the mouse (very fiddly - don't try this at home unless you're willing to buy a new mouse!)
Lo and behold, the tiny rollers encasing the scroll ball were gunged up with that gunk you always had to clean off your mouse rollers back in the day.
Putting the mouse back together is very tough as you have to re-thread the printed circuit ribbon. I also found it was impossible to get the side buttons back in properly so I broke them off - I'd rather have a working scroll wheel and no side buttons.
    So there we are.
    In conclusion:
I regard this mouse as a flawed design - the price you pay for being version 1.0 I suppose. Mouse balls and roller GET CLOGGED UP, this has been recognised for years and have been designed to be user servicable, the fact is this one hasn't been designed very well.
And furthermore, the whole optical mouse idea is inspired by this problem with traditional mice - so to fit Olde Mouse tech to the top side of an optical mouse seems ridiculous.
    Ho hum.

  • Mighty mouse shortcut question

my new wireless mighty mouse that i got with my macbook works great, but i have a question..
is there a way to make it so that when you either squeeze or click the scroll ball, you go back a page in safari or firefox? Dashboard and expose are on my wireless keyboard, so i don't need them as shortcuts on my mouse. thanks a lot!

As far as is obvious, the MM software is system level; you can generally assign the buttons global actions. The actions will not depend on what application is active.

  • Mighty Mouse Applecare question

    Hello,
I've exhausted all options, the mighty mouse that came with my iMac G5 simply will not scroll down. I've tried all of the recommended steps to get it working, but without luck.
Still covered under warranty, and purchased via the internet, I'm unclear on exactly how to exchange it? Do I simply bring it with my web order receipt to an Apple store? or should it go to a service center? There's probably a simple answer, but I just couldn't find this in discussions.
    iMac G5 isight   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Have you tried the following:
    System Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse>Mouse
Make sure Vertical Scrolling is enabled?
Check the Slow & Fast slider settings?

TIP: To get to the gook inside the scroll nipple use a plastic toothpick.

  • "how to" question for wireless keyboard and/or wireless Mighty Mouse

I just purchased a wireless keyboard and a wireless Mighty Mouse (yesterday)
and notice I cannot use the calculator 'widget' in my Dock
    1. the number keys on the new keyboard do not activate the corresponding numbers on the widget
    and
    2. the mouse does not activate the widget numbers when I click on them, either
does anyone know if the calculator can work with these 2 new accessories?
(if not, is there another, similar, calculator I can use now..?)
    thank you for your time

    Hello d:
The calculator works just fine with my Apple BT devices. I doubt if the problem is with the devices.
Try deleting the calculator widget from the dashboard (when dashboard is open). Then add it back.

  • Magic Mouse Question

I just set up my new Magic Mouse and I really like it so far. Seems pretty smooth and no more track ball cleaning! One question. Since the side buttons that were on the mighty mouse were not put on the magic mouse, Im assuming the function they performed is not available in the wireless mouse, that is the ability to pull all open windows to the from screen for viewing and selecting a particular one? I found that to be a very useful tool when working back and forth between different windows. Is there another way to perform that, perhaps through a keyboard shortcut?

On my iMac 17" flat panel, I use the function F9 key to display all open windows.

  • MIghty Mouse Scroll Ball

Not really a MacBook Pro question, but it's the laptop I have so I wasn't sure where else to put it.
The scroll ball on my mighty mouse has been acting up lately. Yesterday it wouldn't scroll down, but it would go up. I noticed when I pressed down really hard I could almost feel dirt or something. So I pressed down, moved it around in all directions, seemed to take care of it.
Today it scrolls down but not up. Same trick didn't fix it. I suspect it just needs a good cleaning, but not really sure how to go about doing that. Any suggestions?
