Mighty Mouse's side buttons too sensitive...

Hi there,
Every two seconds, the fonction of the side button gets activated because I press them by mistake... It's been two weeks and I still hit them by mistake.
How do I make the Mighty Mouse's side buttons less sensitive?
Thanks!
Chris.

for me it's actually static that makes the side buttons operate all on their own just if my hand is barely touching. i don't have this problem when i'm on tile flooring with my new iMac, but in my bedroom on carpet, the mouse and computer act weird becasue of dry climate and static. if i keep my hand on the metal base of the imac i have no problems. as soon as i remove my hand, problems. i'm now working on grounding my computer but that hasn't worked yet. i need to be de-static in some way i think.

Is there a way to program the mighty mouse so that the squeeze buttons on the side make it go back in Safari. Does it require a script. Are there any ready made scripts for that? (The keyboard command would be command left bracket.
    thanks

Try the shareware mouse software, SteerMouse - VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • More settings to Mighty Mouse's ball button?

    Hi!
I use to have a wireless mouse by Logitech. Unfortunately, due to a "dropping it down the stairs from 4th floor last time I moved from an appartment" incident, it is no more.
I used to have my scrolling button configured to make the ever so useful "command-W" action. Is there a way to configure my brand spankin' new Mighty Mouse to do that?
    Thanks!
MacBook(white)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   it shall be put to good use, e.g. rule the world, etc.

My wireless Mighty Mouse works properly with my Mac Mini.
I tried another one with Mac Pro, but the situation is same.
But a wired Migthy Mouse works properly with Mac Pro.
So I'm sure there are some other problems...

  • Buttons too sensitive

After the latest update, the buttons on the screen of the phone while telephoning are far too sensitive. For instance, it goes to Facetime acccidently by being too near to my cheek/ear. Is there some way to make the buttons less sensitive? Thank you

    Hello there Dr. Dave,
It sounds like your proximity sensor is not turning the screen black to prevent buttons from being pressed. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Screen won't lock or go black when answering calls
Verify mute or speaker have not been activated, just prior to placing your ear over the receiver.
While on a call hold your hand over the top third of the display, and verify that the screen is locked or goes to sleep.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
If the issue persists, I would next close all the running apps on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • I want to program my mighty mouse ball click button

How can I set up my Mighty Mouse ball button to open a URL in a new tab. I don't know how to write an Applescript to do this, or is there another way. Apple didn't make this an option in the system preferences.
    Thanks for any help,

    Welcome to the Apple boards:
Since there are millions of possibilities, and everyone wants a button to do their favorite action, you should learn to write or modify an apple script and customize your mouse yourself. It's educational and fun.
If you select "Other" for the button action, you will be in the script folder, which is where Apple wants you to be. If you look, you will see thousands of actions you can assign to your button.
If you open one of these scripts manually (they are in the system library folder) and read it you will see how easy it is to modify or create one.
All you are looking for is to assign the key combination "Apple-T" to the button, correct?
You can also create a script with Automator which is even simpler. And just as much fun.

  • HT201401 Home button too sensitive

One of our iPhones' home buttons seems sensitive, like it's always being pressed.  So the voice control might turn on, music might start playing. If the off button is pressed, sometimes instead of turning off the phone, a picture will be taken.

  • Mighty Mouse track ball button

I have been using Snow Leopard for a while and one of the things that I like the most is that I can choose what I want to see in my screen when I move my cursor to the lower right or left corner.
I have it set up as to SHOW ALL WINDOWS if I move my cursor to the lower right corner, well after I moved to LION that is no loger an option, instead of showing all windows open all it shows are the open windows open of the same application only, How can I set it up the way it was before, is there like a script or something.
also can it be set up so when I click the tracking ball on my Might Mouse to show ALL windows and not just the program windows?

I've read all the posting about this..in recent months I've been cleaning the track ball 6,7,8,9....times every day. I had planned to buy a wireless Mighty Mouse but not now, it'd be cheaper to sit in front of my Mac bashing my testicles with a mallet for the same effect. Apple, this is an utter design disaster. Like Joachim says, why not a mouse we can open and clean easily, or a larger, more robust track ball mechanism? I'm off to but a mouse by anyone but Apple...

  • Apple Mouse (mighty mouse?) Right clicks too often

I have the Apple Mouse (former Mighty Mouse) and I have right click turned on.  The mouse is constantly doing "right click" when I click left.  I look and my finger is well to the left of the little scroll wheel.
I thought "Oh maybe it's sensing the whole panel and I'm pushing in a funny angle" but no, I paid attention and  I was not.
I'm just wondering, is this a common problem with this mouse?   Or is my particular mouse defective?

I have a 2011 iMac and the batteries in my Magic Mouse need changing every couple of months.  In contrast, my wireless keyboard only needs a battery change every 10 months or so.  I bought an Apple battery charger and keep the spare set of batteries always charged.
I think that is the way it is - mouse uses more juice than keyboard (or gets more use so runs down faster).  However, if it gets worse than 2 weeks life, it may be time to invest in a new mouse.

  • Mute button too sensitive

The mute button is so sensitive it renders the phone useless. I would like to disable it but am told I cant. I have done a complete reset with Apple tech support more often than you have changed socks. Also, the blue dot that shows your progress on the maps applications works about 1 time in 3. This is my second iPhone 4 the first one had so many problems it was absurd. Is there anyone here that has found a fix for these problems?

  • Mouse side buttons

is there a way to set the mouse's side buttons to go back pages while surfing with firefox

Stihlmania, the arrow can be anywhere on the page. Does not have to be placed on the back or forward browser buttons and/or arrorws.
I found this out by accident when I kept flipping through browser pages when I first got my G5 iMac which included the Mighty Mouse. So I had to get into the habit of keeping my finger off of the scroll nipple until I needed to scroll and/or flip through browser pages.
I am new to OS X. I did not want to change the "default" settings of MM until I got use to Tiger. Still learning to use Tiger but, I got the hang of MM so I am keeping the "default" settings for now.

  • Lost function of button 3 and 4 on Mighty Mouse

For the last few months, I've used a Logitech trackball on my iMac. Recently, I needed to plug the Mighty Mouse back. Buttons 3 and 4 (dashboard, and expose all windows) don't work. I've tried:
    1) creating a new user (admin and normal)
    2) double checking the keyboard/mouse settings
    3) resetting the PRAM
and nothing works. Any idea what could be causing this?

    Hello,
This seems to be a frequent complaint from people who have installed the drivers for 3rd-party mice.
See if there is a method to uninstall the driver that came with your other mouse.
Unfortunately, there may not be a way to remove those drivers and revert to the standard built-in drivers.
As a means of experimenting, I would try downloading the latest version of the OS 10.4.x "Combo" update for your computer.
For the Intel computers, this would be:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047combointel.html
For the PowerPC computers, this would be:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047comboppc.html
It is entirely possible that if you have the mighty mouse installed and connected when you re-install these updates, that it may over-write the 3rd-party drivers and re-enable the factory drivers (which is what you need).
There is a method to revert to the factory supplied driver. The questionable, and technical, route:
You'll find the directions in the last post at:
    http://forums.macnn.com/archive/index.php/t-267713.html
If none of that works, then about all I could suggest is re-installing OS X and avoiding the Installation of any mouse drivers (including those that come with the Mighty Mouse - they are unnecessary and add problems).
    I hope this helps.

  • Mighty Mouse Tracking Ball

The tracking ball on my Mighty Mouse works side-to-side and up, but not down. It feels as though there's some debris in the way preventing it from letting me scroll down.
Is there a way to clean it with breaking it?
Can I take it apart safely?
Any reponses would be greatly appreciated.

    Stephen,
This has a tendency to happen a lot---for some reason it attracts dirt like anything.
Just simply get a damp, lint-free fabric and rub it vigorously on the scroll button, making sure you let it roll freely as you do so (to get the entire ball on all sides)---right side up first, so you can see the smudge building up on the sides where the button meets the rest of the casing. You will see some particles get trapped in this a lot. Scrape off all the gook from there...
Let it rest for a minute or two, to completely dry it from the dampness caused by the fabric, and then turn it upside down while rolling the button to free any other remaining residue...

  • Mighty Mouse - Static Electricity Problems

I know that others have posted about the MM twitching out due to electrical interference. I am experiencing the same problem in two rooms in my house on both my iMacs. Without even touching the mouse the side buttons "fire" the problem goes away when you touch the aluminum base. I have checked my ground in both locations with a meter it is perfect. I recently moved to a new house, the computers work on carpet, but not on ceramic or laminate floor. They worked at my old place on laminate floor with the exact same desk setup. I have not added or taken away any electronics on the desk (lights, hubs...etc.) All the other posts have no conclusion. I am looking for an answer, I cannot keep my computers in my dining room (carpet). I have offices in certain rooms for a reason, functionality of a mouse should not determine where I set up my workspace. I know I am not the only one...someone (from apple.) please finally address this issue, or direct me to a posting with a conclusion. I am going insane from the clicking noise, and I dont want to buy 2mice for my comps.
    Thanks,
    Donny

Shortsighted...maybe, that's not the point though. They were working perfectly, they do work in other places. I like the MM; I want it to work where I am now. I think it might in fact be shortsighted to not seek a solution before buying new mice. That is what I am doing. We have buried cable in my neighbourhood, so I do not think Power Lines are the problem (but they very well could be), besides the mice do work some places in the house. The problem is most likely in the walls somewhere, in which case, I will buy wireless MM's. Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate any help. I guess I'm just curious and eager to find a resolution.
    Cheers,
    Donny

  • Mighty Mouse Right Click

    Hi,
I have a Mighty Wireless Mouse, and a Wireless Keyboard.
1.) If I would like to keep the track wheel button as the dashboard, can I create a secondary mouse button, or a right click? I know Ctrl-click will be a right click most of the time, but I have a game, where a right click is very useful, but Ctrl-click doesn't work.
2.) Is the main part of the Mighty Mouse just one button, or can I set a primary and secondary on the left and right half of the mouse.
    Any advise?
    ~Christoph

Right. I am using the track-wheel button as dashboard, which I would like to keep. The secondary button doesn't seem to work at first. I told system prefs to put the right button as the secondary button, but after a restart, it is now working. I don't know why I had to restart, but it is now working.
    Thanks for the help, though
Sorry none of you get the nice, green star

  • Mighty Mouse Problems - right click and battery changing

So I am on my second Mighty Mouse after the first one completely stopped working one day. Took it in to Apple and they gave me a new one.
This new one generally works ok (although right click fails every few days) but when I change the batteries and turn it back on the computer doesn't find it. I have to plug in my old Logitch and discover the Mighty Mouse and pair it again using the Logitech to control the cursor.
Then this morning the Mighty Mouse left click button stopped working so I turned it off and on again and once again, the computer didnt recognise the mouse and I had to go through the whole discovering and pairing process again using my other mouse.
Any ideas - I have checked the Bluetooth preferences and cant seen anything that I should be checking - it says my mouse is paired, connected and discoverable.
Any ideas or are Mighty Mouses just an ordinary piece of hardware - my experience so far has been ordinary!
    By the way - I have a new (December 07) 24inch iMac and 10.5.2

    Hey,
I just talked to German Apple telephone support. They fixed the problem for me! With fresh  installs of 10.7.5 the problem is that two files are missing that are needed for the mouse. In my case I could get them from another computer I own that ran Lion and did have the files. To get to the files you need do this:
    Go to
    /System/Library/LoginPlugins/BezelServices.loginPlugin
control-click that file and choose "show contents"
now in the finder window navigate to
    Contents/PlugIns/
In this folder should be two files named
    AppleBluetoothHIDMouse.plist
    and
    AppleHIDMouse.plist
If you don't find these files, you need to get them and put them in.
