Mighty Mouse --- Updating to Tiger?

Hi,
I just recently bought the Wireless Mighty Mouse. I have been trying to figure out how to customize the buttons to do what I want. But the "System Preferences" do not even give me that option.
I was told that it is because I am still on 10.3.9 and not Tiger. Is this true? Will the problem be solved if I upgrade to Tiger?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The buttons on the Mighty Mouse cannot be customized in Mac OS X 10.39. Click here for more information.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Disc

I left my install disc in a hotel room in San Francisco.
I can not find the drivers for the Wireless Mighty Mouse anywhere on Apple's site. Do I have to buy another mouse just to get the drivers? Why doesn't Apple have the option to download them?
    Am I missing something?

Have you tried with the disc. Drivers for the wired Mighty Mouse are in Tiger 10.4.7. Maybe they will work with the wireless. If it doesn't work, and Apple won't send you a new disk, you could try SteeerMouse
    <http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/index.html>
There is a free trial, and it costs a lot less than a new mouse. It might not work without the Apple drivers, but it won't cost anything to try it.

  • How to remove Mighty Mouse software...

Does anyone know how to remove the Mighty Mouse software and go back to the default mouse preferences pane that came with OSX?
    thank you
    David

I have had this same problem. I had Tiger, and my mighty mouse worked fine. But then I installed the CD that came with it and it ruined the mouse pref pane so that it looked like you were using the mighty mouse in 10.3.9.
I had no fix to this, but when I got my wireless mighty mouse and installed the software, it restored the preferance pane and now my wired mighty mouse has the tiger features again.

  • Syncing Apple TV Mighty Mouse Dies

    Hello
I'am not sure anyone has expeeriecned this issue, whilst syncing my Apple TV my Apple Wireless Mihghy Mouse becomes very slugish and slow the track and respond.
I am currently running OS X 10.4.10, on a G4 iMac all the latest updates, Mighty Mouse updates etc.... and cannot figure out why.
When I sync other deivces, iPod, Bluetooth phones etc... the Mighty Mouse is not effected it is only when I sync the Apple TV, whether it is 1MB sync or 1GB update the results are the same.
    Anyone experiecne similar issues?

    Deja vu!
I just got a new Intel iMac a couple of days ago and started using a Mighty Mouse for the first time (I had not used one before your previous thread on this problem).
I have not had any problems with the Mighty Mouse that came with my new iMac. I'm wondering if the problems you are experiencing are related to PPC iMacs or possibly just G4 iMacs.
As I suggested previously, you should contact Apple support. This is likely to be a problem that can only be fixed with a software update.

  • What is button 4 on Mighty Mouse?

    Hi,
what exactly is the button 4-setting in the Mighty Mouse settings in Tiger and how can it be configurated.
    Thanks in advance - Christoph

there is also the possible setting "Button 4" and I just wanted to know what that is for and where I can maybe specify what button 4 should do - other than the possibilities that are shown in the drop-down menue. Sorry for making it not clear...
There is also the setting "Button 3" for the scrollball... I don´t want to believe that Apple just wanted to tell us that this is a third and fourth button... that would be obvious, wouldn´t it?
Are you asking what it means if you set a button's function to be "Button 3", or "Button 4"?
They don't do anything directly in OSX. OSX uses Left-click (Button 1) to select, and Right-click (Button 2) for contextual menu. X11 and other applications (such as Maya) may be written to work with a mouse with more than two buttons. When running such an application, the mouse settings determine which of the Mighty Mouse functions (pressing the scroll-ball, or squeezing the side buttons) will be interpreted by the application at the third or fourth button of a multi-button mouse.

  • Mighty Mouse Refuses to Pair

I've searched these boards and all over the internet and still have not been able to resolve my problem.
I can't get my mighty mouse to pair with my computer! When I go to set up bluetooth device, it shows up in the list and i select it and hit continue. It attempts to pair but then always times out saying the pairing attempt was unsuccessful.
I have rebooted. I have erased com.apple.Bluetooth.plist. I have all the updates installed.
    Help please.

I am on a Power Pc imac with OS 10.5.8, and what I did to fix the trouble with the pairing of the mouse, is installing the Mighty Mouse update software, after the 3rd. time I did it, it work. I do not know if this has some thing to do, my guess is that it has but in 3rd try I made sure that the mouse was on and douring restart I gave a feaw click and it worked !

  • Mighty Mouse Scrolling *after* 10.4.6 update

I updated to 10.4.6 in between repairing permissions
(I do like how repairing permissions no longer displays
already repaired permissions). I've noticed that I can
no longer scroll down with my Mighty Mouse. I can
scroll up and sideways though. Has anyone else
    noticed this behaviour?

Awwww sorry to have made u waste your previous time, but this is a DISCUSSION board and I was discussiing, also apple read these, and the more mention of a faulty mouse and that its a possible design flaw might get them to re-evaluate their design. I learnt in this discussion board before about apple's design flaw with their black optical mouse.

  • Mighty mouse malfunctions while newly 1.2 updated 5G ipod is connected

lol this is really strange.. when i have my 5g ipod (which i just updated to the new firmware) sitting in my dock and i plug my mighty mouse into the other open usb port on my macbook. expose starts randomly switching on and off and the mouse starts clicking as if i pressed the side buttons extremely fast. it does this until i touch the mouse. as soon as i touch it it stops but i cannot press the side buttons to use expose n e more. it doesnt click or respond to pressure. once the ipod is ejected then disconnected from the dock the mighty mouse works flawlessly. this is extremely odd. hopefully there will be a new 1.2.1 ipod update soon lol. besides that i love the new updates
PS: brightness gets an A+ and same with the quicker search feature with the letter scrolling. too bad we dont get the more advanced search feature.. oh well

ok sorry folks.. turns out its actually my 3rd party iPod dock that broke somehow. when i use just the regular ipod cable everything is fine.
too bad i threw out the receipt just the other day

  • Mighty Mouse loses connection since 10.6.8 update

Hi I have recently installed the 10.6.8 OSX upgrade in preparations for the Lion release and I am having problems with Mighty Mouse losing connection.
Basically the mouse operates fine until the mouse is static whereby it loses connection, I then have to wiggle the mouse around and click the mouse to regain connectivity, if the mouse remains still for even a second it just drops again.
I have tried changing batteries, removing both my mouse and keyboard from the bluetooth preferences, adding them as favourites as well as doing the PRAM and SMC resets.
I only assume the problem is linked with 10.6.8 update because prior to this update the mouse was working without a hitch.
My keyboard appears to be working without the same problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I encountered the same problem as you report after the upgrade to 10.6.8 on both my family's MacBook Pros. I had no problem with my MM up to that point. Thereafter, the MM would not work I went thru' the same steps as you did to try and overcome the problem. It pairs OK and says it is connected but the MM will not work. If you switch off the MM, a message is received "Connection Lost". The keypad mouse works as does an USB mouse, but no MM despite numerous attempts at resetting, clearing, replacing batteries, bluetooth reset, etc..  I am as baffled as you were and put the fault down to the SL upgrade, but I suppose the upgrade may (somehow) have blown the MM, but it still lights up and says it is connected!!. WEIRD!

  • Mighty Mouse wont work after last update

I have just updated the last mac update (Quicktime and Frontrow and iTunes).
After rebooting, it couldn't find my mighty mouse (wireless). So I switched the mouse off and on again and then it found it but the connection lost again from the mourse at that exact moment.
This has happened 3 times now, every time i reboot to see if I can catch the problem.
So I cant use teh mouse to get into the Operating System.
The bluetooth has completely wiped it out I think.
    What can I do?
How can I uninstall last update or reinstall last update?
How can I access the mouse and Bluetooth functions?
    Appreciate the help,
    JH

I've had problems since the last update as well. Namely, seemingly not connected to any specific program, the finder toolbar options simply disappear. Or, the keyboard (bluetooth) and mouse (wacom USB) stop working. When I try to force quit programs, the FQ window pops up but lists no programs even though there are several open. I have to manually shutdown my computer by holding the power button. This happens at least once a day. Very frustrating. My machine operated flawlessly prior to this update.
I don't expect an answer from this forum (PRAM PRAM PRAM - that never, ever works, and it's the first thing any seasoned Mac user tries). But hopefully Apple reads this?? We need a new update to fix this obnoxious problem...

  • Did Wireless Mighty Mouse come with an installation CD?

I love my wireless mighty mouse that I bought with my imac but I want to use it with my newly purchased macbook as well. The only problem is, I can't seem to locate the installation CD that I'm assuming came with it.
The mouse DID come with a CD, correct? Is there anywhere else I can look - drivers embedded in Tiger OSX?
I've called Apple a couple times (on hold as I "speak"). Anyway, they haven't been able to help me too much, I spent 45 minutes last night and I just had to hang up with them and I couldn't get any answers. I will pay for it but I think maybe they're trying to see if they have any available CD's (I would imagine they should have some extras lying around :)!)
    Thanks for your help.

You don't need the CD that comes with the Mighty Mouse. All you need to do is go to software update on the Apple menu icon and update your software. If there is any software for the mouse that needs updating, it will update.

  • Apple Needs to Provide Magic Mouse support for Tiger Users

While it's always a good thing to upgrade software to take advantage of new hardware and features, some of us longstanding Mac Users are still happy with our non-Intel hardware (have owned Macs from the Mac 512K to my current PowerPC Dual Core G5). How hard can it be to provide a software update for Tiger that allows full functionality for the new BlueTooth Mouse. My understanding is that while I could upgrade the OS to Leopard, it is not recommended for PowerPCs for performance and other issues. Not asking for cross compatibility to OS 1, but there are a lot of us out here running the PowerPC G5s at OS 10.4.11 who would appreciate some consideration here.
    Thanks for listening.
    Cheers,
    Tom

I sympathize with the sentiment. I upgraded to SL from Tiger just so I could use the Magic Mouse. It's that cool. I think doing what you suggest would be impossible for Apple. For one, so few people are using Tiger now that economically, it just wouldn't make sense for Apple to develop it any further. For another thing, the first Mac with multi-touch technology was the Macbook Air, and it debuted during the Leopard era. The foundation for multi-touch technology just isn't built into Tiger. I do think it was a mistake for Apple to take the bluetooth Mighty Mouse off the market. That was a good mouse, and there was no reason it had to go.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse keeps freezing after upgrading to Leopard

My bluetooth mighty mouse has frequent, intermittent freezes (which appear to be a loss of sync to the iMac) after upgrading to Leopard (now 10.5.1) from 10.4.11 on my iMac 24" alum body. This mouse was rock solid on my iMac running Tiger. Luckily I do have a corded mouse which I've been forced to use the past week or so.
    Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks.

I was just trying to help my Dad with the same exact issue (Mighty Mouse stops working on waking from sleep & trying to open bluetooth prefs at that point causes the system to lock up. Have to hold down power button to reboot)
Oddly I have Leopard on my iMac 2.16 Core 2 Duo and have no issues with my Mighty Mouse.
Hopefully someone comes up with an answer .... My Dad is 80 and just bought a new Powerbook and Mighty Mouse. It's hard to explain why the mouse doesn't work.

  • Odd Mighty Mouse behavior?

    Hi,
I have a brand new 24" imac with nvidia 8800 but my Wireless mighty mouse has started acting strange, jumping over the screen and making it impossible to use. I tried a wired mighty mouse and that's the same. I first noticed it after 10.3.5 upgrade but could it be a coincidence? I have done an archive and install back to 10.5.2 and it's still the same? It's not constant only intermittent.

Check for any dust in the LED hole. Try using a plain surface, like a solid colored mouse pad, if the surface is on the shiny side. If that does not work...
Try starting up from Mac OS X installation disc. If the mouse is also erratic when booted from another system, you can rule out the 10.5.3 update as the cause.
If it works normally when you are booted from the installation disc, there is probably some issue with your current installation.
