Migrate 11gR1 11.1.0.7.0 database to 11.2.0.X database on separate network

Currently running 11.1.0.7.0 p46 Oracle single database on 2003 R2 32 bit. Need to migrate this over to different Network node running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 64-bit OS to eventually get to new Oracle 11.2.0.X.0 database. Where do I get a full 11.1.0.7.0 Database install set to upgrade to 64-bit on new OS, to then convert to 11.2.0.X.0 version?

I am guessing the options I used back in December 2011 and January 2012 are no longer available, nolonger supported. No we do not have extended suppport for 11gR1.
Current database 11.1.0.7.0 is 15.9 GB. Currently available space on oracle directory is 28.6 GB. Flash_recovery_area is at 114 GB so there is room to for an upgrade on this OS by cleaning up the flass recovery area, it will be slow. By the way the OS is Windows Server 2003 x64 AMD 64 x2 Standard Edition, not the 32-bit.
I can do an export (datapump or export?) and bring over just the schemas from the 11.1.0.7.0 database, to get it into a new 11.2.0.X.0 database? Is this your recommended approach to getting over to another non-conectable network (Widows Server 2008 R2 that will be running? Can we go to 11.2.0.X.0 the lastest release this way? Is there a document with this option?
Most of Oracle's documentation now shows upgrading to 11.2.0.X.0 on the same box. We do have to get off thie node and its network though, and so not have tha luxurary of closning or using RMAN 'duplicate database' options.
Will using a 11.1.0.7.0 backup now be out of the question?
Thanks,
Jerry C.

That would be a text file with around 100 records. I have migrate those records to oracle database. The firewall constraints doesn't allow me to create a link to that database. Will Migration workbench would be apt for this case. How can i capture the database offline in this case ?
regardless of the tool/technique you use, those bits have to get from machine running sqlserver to the machine running Oracle. Either over the network (through the firewall) or via 'sneakernet.'   What, exactly, are the firewall constraints?
If the export is a simple text file (character delimited fields?  fixed length fields?) and only 100 records ... Migration Workbench may be overkill,  perhaps a simple sqlldr job.  But you still have to get the bits from 'there' to 'here'.

BTW, it would be really helpful if you would go to your profile and give yourself a recognizable name.  It doesn't have to be your real name, just something that looks like a real name.  Who says my name is really Ed Stevens?  But at least when people see that on a message they have a recognizable identity.  Unlike the system generated name of 'ed0f625b-6857-4956-9b66-da280b7cf3a2', which is like going to the pub with a bag over your head.

  • Migration of CATALOG DB to other Oracle Database

    HI Experts,
i need your guidence. we have a catalog DB and we have created to schemas with RECOVERY_CATALOG_OWNER Role. now we want to migrate this catalog DB to other database of same version that is 10gr2 (10.2.0.4). below are the steps that i ll do
will take logical backup of both schema by expdp and then import the shema backup to target DB where we want to migrate.
now my question is this after importing schema to destination DB should i need to register the Databases that are already registered in this catalog DB on source ?
    regards,

ok thanx. its mean we have two ways now to migrate this
1-by first unregistering the Database and then take logical backup import to other DB and ten register them again
2- second is the only import it to other DB and edit TNSNAMES.ORA files and start taking backup
regards,Do not need unregister and register.Actually this catalog contain sufficient information(backup) pf your target database.
So take backup of catalog database and restore it in new place/server(recommended way using RMAN) and that is all.

  • Make LR work with database on a network drive

Although multiple users functionality would be great it is not what I mean with this. For starter it would be great to be able to have the database on a network drive so that several machines can use the same database (only one at a time).
I use my laptop most of the time but sometimes I want to work with my PC so having the database on a network drive would be great. As I already have all of my images on a network drive having the same drive letters on all machines is therefore not a problem.
I actually was able to do this with ACDSee. I could even have the cache on the network drive!

Ha! I was going to ask for this as well. Why does Lightroom even care whether the (Windows) drive letter happens to point to a local drive or to a remote drive? The underlying database software works with either.
Here's why I'd like this capability. I put important files like the LR database onto a remote drive so that I can then set that drive (or whatever folders I want on that drive) to be offline. There are a lot of benefits to this; some are: (1) it allows me to work with LR on my laptop when the laptop is not connected to my network and (2) I get two copies of the LR database automatically (one on the PC hosting the remote drive and one in the CSC folder on my laptop).
And as far as I can tell you cannot request a backup (or a restore for that matter) from the File menu. You have to wait until the time specified in the Preferences has elapsed before LR prompts you to do a backup. I'd much prefer to be able to do a backup on my own schedule, and outside of LR. And what do you do with the backup file(s) that LR creates when you need to do a restore? (I can't find a Restore command.)
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Install all the required packages.
You are hitting a bug. Bug 7680459: LIBXP PACKAGE IS MISSING FROM LIST OF PACKAGES REQUIRED.
As per documentation Bug 7680459, the package libXp-1.0.0-8 is also required to invoke OUI successfully.
So, make sure that you have installed these packages including the dependency packages required.

  • DMS: Migration of DIR's from one SAP database to another SAP database

    Hi Gurus
We have a content server with originals linked to DIR's in a SAP database.  We want to migrate the DIR's to another SAP system.  The question is can we link the originals to the new DIR's in the new system without having to download and upload the originals in the content server using the original Phios.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards

    HI,
You can change the content server connection to the new server but you can not b able to read the data which is already stored in the content server via old server. But you can store the new documents and you can retrieve the same. you have to download and upload the documents which are stored in the content server via old server.

  • Migrating 11gR1 DB to Another Server, but at 11gR2?

    Hello -
I'm running REL 5.3 Linux on both the source and target servers. My source DB is at 11g R1, and I want to migrate it to the new REL 5.3 Linux box, but have it be at version 11g R2. Can I take an RMAN backup of the source DB, and restore it to the target version where the binaries are at 11g R2? Will the database then be at version 11g R2?

  • How to migrate Azure SQL Codefirst DB to Oracle database?

    Hi,
we have been developing a Web application with Windows Azure Code first  SQL DB using Code first approach.
In the future we want to migrate our Azure SQL Code first DB to Oracle. If we migrate it to Oracle, does the application works fine? or do we need to do any additional actions in migrating from Azure SQL Code first  db to Oracle DB?
It would be great if  anyone provides me complete information on this.

    Hi,
You should be able to move the Azure SQL Code First Database to Oracle Database. You will have to make minor changes, for e.g connection string.
Please have a check on the below link which talks about using Entity Framework 6 Code First with Azure SQL database as a backend. It will give you an idea on how to approach your migration.

  • SAP DB2 migration to 9.5 having issues after database restore

    Hello All,
We are migrating our database from version DB2 8.2 to 9.5. We have successfully migrated our environment. Now we are trying to restore the old backup of the database (8.2) to the migrated instance. The restore worked fine but it asked us to migrate the database. When we run the MIGRATE DATABASE command it returns the following error.
SQL1704N  Database migration failed.  Reason code "17". (SYSCAT tablespace space not enough)
But to extend the tablespace we are not able to connect to the database. We get the following error if we try to connect.
SQL5035N  The database requires migration to the current release.
So we cannot run either command. Can anyone please suggest how to resolve this issue?
    Deepak

    Hello Malte,
We are using the below commands for the backup and restore.
The backup was taken when the database was still at 8.2 version
db2 "backup database QA2 online to file1,file2,file3,file4,file5,file6,file7,file8,file9,file10,file11,file12 with 8 buffers parallelism 4 without prompting"
db2 restore db QA2 from /backupold/QA2-offline taken at 20090807001234 redirect
    db2 "ALTER TABLESPACE SYSCATSPACE ADD (FILE '/sapdata8/SYSCATSPACE.container002' 1000000 K) ON NODE ( 0 )"
    db2 "ALTER TABLESPACE SYSCATSPACE ADD (FILE '/sapdata8/SYSCATSPACE.container003' 1000000 K) ON NODE ( 0 )"
    db2 restore db QA2 continue
    db2qa2> db2 restore db QA2 continue
SQL1651N  The request cannot be executed because the DB2 server version does
    not support this functionality.
Hope this helps you provide soem inputs.
    Thanks
