  • Migrate a GoLive site manually to Dreamweaver

I tried migrating the site manually from Adobe after the
GoLive/GL2DW extension locks up on the Components in GoLive
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/migrate_golive_dreamweaver.html
In the Article it covers how to migrate the Templates and to
change the extension but it doesn’t say a thing about the
    Components
Does anyone know if you are supposed to make a new folder and
follow the same directions as the Templates and label it Library
and drag the components into that and then in Dreamweaver change
    the extensions to .lbi?
I called GoLive Support yesterday and they did not know.

Define the site in DW to point into the root folder of the GL
    site. You are
    done.

  • DW 4 not seeing GoLive .site file!

I have several sites created in GoLive 7. I downloaded the GoLive 9 free trial, brought them over into GL9. Then I did the "Convert Site to New Structure" command as I have seen suggested. Downloaded the GoLive to DW migration extension and installed it. So far so good.
But when I go to Import GoLive Site, and navigate to the folder where the site file is (there are actually several, only one is the current one), Dreamweaver does not "see" the .site files, even though when I look in the window in explorer, they are there. All I see are the web-content, web-data, and web-settings folders, but no .site files at all.

This is an issue that I have never come across before. You're
    using a
non-standard filename extension, so it doesn't particularly
    surprise me
that Dreamweaver ignored it. Have you tried entering
    .properties in the
list of filename extensions, as I suggested? If that works,
    your problem
is solved. All that's needed is for the documentation to be
    made more
    explicit.
On the other hand, if your filename extension is likely to be
    in
widespread use, perhaps it's something that should be added
    to the
standard list of files that Dreamweaver handles. Submit a
    feature
    request to the Dreamweaver team.

  • How to edit a PC based golive site on mac?

    Hi,
I have a golive site file I always edited on golive cs2 on a PC. the PC version crashes too often to be useful. I'd like to try to use the golive site on CS2 golive on the mac side, but I have never had sucess opening the entire site file.
is there some way to convert the file to be mac-centric? individual pages are easy enough to work with in either system, but the site file itself crashes in windows 7 and mac.
Using MacPro 8 core 2.8, 32 GB ram, leopard 10.5.8, have traditionally used parallels xp virtual machine to edit, but now i run windows 7. the windows 7 doesn't work as well as the old XP.
I love golive, fiddled with dreamweaver for several years, but it is not for me, so, please do not just say use dreamweaver.

When you click on View Data, at bottom click on Edit button

  • Can I Import a golive site?

I wanted to bring a golive site into DW and edit it from now
on in DW. I assume this is possible and that some things will break
in the process but I have looked at export import info but it is
    not very clear to me.
If I try to export my GoLive site after opening it, my only
non grayed out option is ( site Locator )
If I try to import from within DW, I only see 2 grayed out
options ( xml or Tabular )
I'm not even sure it is possible to do this, bring a golive
    site into dreamweaver.
Can someone help me out here.
    Thanks.

Just create a site in DW that points to the root folder of
    the GL site. You
will be able to edit the files directly.
None of GL's special features will work in DW, however -
    smart objects,
    components, etc.

  • Password Recovery for a GoLive site

Is there anyway to recover a password from a site that is built in GoLive? And if so how is it done. I've done internet searches and haven't found any way to do it.
I have an old GoLive site that I'm working on and need to recover the Password so I can move the site over to Dreamweaver.
    thanks for your help.

The best option to deal with a forgotten password is to reset that password. Nobody should be using old passwords. That is a security risk. Passwords should be refreshed regularly. You can refresh a FTP password by contacting the hosting company. If the master account for the password is also not known, the hosting company can typically refresh that once you prove your identity by confirming the method of payment (credit card number).
There are two ways that I have recovered passwords from my own computer. These methods require that you have at least one program on your computer that can still connect to the FTP site.
One way is to 'sniff' your network traffic to see what plain text username and password is sent to the server. This will not work on SFTP connections (and is why you should use SFTP connections to be more secure).
The other way is to use a password revealer tool. Whenever you see a password field filled with asterisks, there is a password behind it that can be revealed.
Both of these methods can be accomplished with freeware. Should you look for these easy-to-find tools, be sure to get them from reputable sources. You should not want password revealer malware running on your computer that can secretly send your passwords home to the software's creator.

Fatal Error: Could not find Feature AnalyticsLinks in sharepoint 2010 while migration from 2007 site using stsadm command

    Hi ,
Firstly, I need to verify the followings:
Whether you created a feature called AnalyticsLinks and activatated it at SharePoint 2007 site.
Whether you installed the feature at SharePoint 2010 site.
Please deactivate the feature AnalyticsLinks, then migrate SharePoint 2007 site to SharePoint 2010, compare the result.
Also , please check whether you have installed the feature AnalyticsLinks at your SharePoint 2010 site. If not, please install and activate it, compare the result.

  • Cannot select proper root folder for new DW site in DW CS6

    Hi,
I'm new to Dreamweaver and am trying to set up a new DW site to do a tutorial.   I am trying to create a new DW site named "Check CS6 Tutorial".  The Local site folder defaults to: C:\Users\Pam\Desktop\Unnamed Site 2\ but I don't want that.  I browse folders to choose 'c:\dreamweaver' and get the error message:
The root folder you have chosen is the same as the folder for site 'Pam-Test'.  This may cause some operations, such as synchronization, to work incorrectly.  Proceed anyway?
I keep trying to select the c:\dreamweaver location for my files but keep getting the error message above.

You need to organize your sites in individual folders for DW to function correctly.
Personally, I would create a folder on your desktop called "Websites". Then inside that folder, create another folder called "tutorial site". Set "tutorial site" as your new tutorial site's root folder and put all of the tutorial site's files and folders into it. All of a site's resources need to stay inside that site's root, so all .html, .jpg, .gif, .js, .css, etc.
Any additional sites would then have their own folder created inside the "Websites" folder and that folder would be their site root. All of the files for each individual site needs to stay inside that sites individual root folder. The structure would look like...
    Websites
         tutorial site
              all of tutorial site's files
         pam-test
              all pam-test site files
         website 3
              all of website 3's files
         etc...

  • Convert a GoLive CS2 to DW CS6. Can this be done?

Okay, I took the plunge to DW CS6. I held on to GoLive as long as I could. What made it easy was signing up for the Creative Cloud.
So I have a pretty big website that was made in GL CS2. How can I salvage it so I don't have to re-create every page in DW?  I know some scripts and behavors will have to be re-worked to DW.
    Thanks,

    Mac Pro - Lion

There has been a discussion on that: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743737
But you're talking a big website. I recommend you learn Dreamweaver and rebuild it. Lots things have changed for putting together websites since GoLive was axed by Adobe. I would consider a redesign and build out the entire website in a /test/ folder on your server until you have it completed. Then migrate to the new website on your server and get rid of the old site done in GoLive.

  • Migrating from GoLive 7

Can I migrate a site from GoLive CS (7) to Dreamweaver CS3?
The free migration assistant provided only works with GoLive 8 and

    Hi Vince,

    > or
    > would I have to update all of the pages manually?
Dreamweaver has a couple of similar features: DW templates,
    and library
items. However, I recommend you set those menus up as
    server-side includes -
way better. Basically you grab the code for the menu, and put
    it into its
own page, then call it into each page right at the place you
    want it to
appear with the following code: <!--#include file="your
    menu.htm" -->
The only other thing is that the actual pages need to have a
    server side
suffix, like .asp, or if your server doesn't support those,
    use the .shtml
    suffix.
The advantage to using the server-side includes is that you
    only edit the
include and put it up to the server - with templates and
    library items, you
have to update locally, then post all the changed pages to
    the server. Also,
there are certain nasty glitches to both the templates and
    library items
    that I've experienced

  • Migrating from GoLive 6.0.1 for Power PCs

Hello! I have tried - unsuccessfully - to migrate my sites
from GoLive 6.0.1 using GL2dwd. I can "Export Site" to my desktop,
but it never even shows "Export to Dreamweaver." My Index page -
which never carries the extension ".ste" - from GolIve gets
grayed-out, so I cannot import into Dreamweaver. Is it simply that
my version of Dreamweaver cannot be migrated?
Thank you in advance for your advice... RJ

How many reports do you have to migrate? We just have the same problem that we have 12000 views and we don't really now how much we can migrate successfully.I tried an export with the AnalyzerMigrate.exe of a group with 45 views and got 45 errors, so each view had problems...during export. And import...we just have to figure out.Do you have tried the Analyzer API methodapiApplet.run("ImportReportGroup","","","","");?If so I am interested in your experiences especially in using the Analyzer API because we have similar the same environment as I know from another discussion thread.

  • Can I edit open a GoLive site in Dreamweaver?

I have a site that I put together for a charity..I have done it for a few years and the content, images etc don't change too often.
Every month or so there needs to be an update to timetable and information. At the moment I do this with GoLive which is
the programne I built it with. Can I open this site in Dreamweaver and continue editing it as before. Or do I have to re-build the
whole site? I' m using OSX 10.5.6 does anyone know how long GoLive will keep working in OSX ?  Thanks   Giff

Thanks Nina that is reassuring to know...but you ask why would I want to...
that was the second part of my question...I did read that Adobe said that it was
discontinuing support for GoLive and on each OSX upgrade I think it may suddenly
refuse to work....Thanks for the response   Giff
