Migrate apple id primary email.

I would like to use the primary email from an old apple id on my new apple id.
Ideally I would like to delete that old apple id and then just use the email as the primary on my new one.
I have tried changing the primary email on the old account, but it still wont let me set the old email on my new account.
Can I migrate an email address from my old apple id to be the primary email on my new apple id?

ok.. just trying to help and i dont know the answer... so bare with me..I use to have .mac then it switched to .me.com email then due to unfortnate reasons had to cancel it about 6 months ago otherwise I would still have that @me.com account. Do you also have 3 itunes libraries? (just curious). Also do you have 3 @me.com emails for all three countries? Here is what I did... I have only apple id... (no longer is my apple id ending with @me.com but instead it ends with @gmail.com) ok.. once you set up your icloud account with your existing apple id... for me it is now the @gmail.com account when i set mine up. It also gave me the option of creating a @me account... I did not do this at first. First I tried to use my old @me.com account and it said i couldn't then i used my curren @gmail.com account. ok... later on I created a @me.com account... I probably will never use it but once you have it set up in icloud.com you can not change it... I have not figured out how. but not everyone needs an extra email account so you dont need to set it up. I believe (99% sure) The Apple ID can not be the same as your @me.com account... unless you had an already existing @me.com account. I am not positive... but it does give a warning that says beware... you will not be able to change this @me.com account once you create it... I think... if you have already @me.com account you will be able to migrate over the calendar and mail. I am sorry i am just trying to be helpful - I dont know the answer to your question. I would make an appointment at a local apple store if your able to. to make an appointment go to support and under self serv... click online service assistant.

I'm not sure if anyone else has come across this, but i have had an apple email address back from when @mac was the thing which then got replaced with mobileme (@me), so I think switched all my friends to my new @me account, but as I set my Apple ID and primary address to be my @mac address like 10 years ago the Apple ID service won't allow you to modify this setting and go with the new domain. I can login using either but when I login to iCloud to check my personal email from away from my iMac it goes with whatever has been set with the primary account in iCloud. So now my friends get emails from me at home from @me and from icloud from @mac.
Should i forget the @me deal and just go back to my @mac account to get rid of the dupe email addresses and confusion i'm causing all of my friends?
MobileMe tech support had no solution other than to contact iCloud tech support. iCloud techsupport is only for the service related on specific hardware so nothing is related or i'd have to pay to talk to someone who probably can't do anything.
Apple, it is stupid you can't change your apple ID or primary email address when you're using an apple domain. I know you can do it as you show it in the support document (http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40), but it's not there for me.

You can remove it as your rescue email address by logging into the account via the 'manage your apple id' button on http://appleid.apple.com, selecting the Password & Security section of your account, and answering your security questions : Manage your Apple ID primary, rescue, alternate, and notification email addresses - Apple Support
You can then try putting it as your primary email address (you may need to log out after doing the above and log back in), and putting what is currently your primary email address as your rescue email address.

I have changed my Apple ID primary email but it doesn't seem to make any difference to the email that comes up as my Apple ID when I try to update my apps.Still getting my old email details

I have changed Internet providers and have finally managed to update my primary email details under the Apple ID manage your account area.
However my old email details are still showing up when I try to update my apps etc. Can anyone please tell me what else I have to do to change my Apple ID. It seemed that I had already successfully done this but obviously not. I have an iPad 2

Did you change the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID? Tap the old ID and sign out and then sign in with the new one. If not running iOS 6 it will be Settings>Stores>Apple ID.

NO EDIT BUTTON FOR APPLE ID/PRIMARY EMAIL?

I'm trying to change my Primary email for my Apple Id.
I found an Apple 'how to' article where they say to click on Edit next to the Apple ID but THERE'S NO EDIT BUTTON.

Changed Apple ID Primary Email

Hi - I changed my primary email address which inturn became my new apple id. Now i was already logged into iCloud on my iPad mini with old apple id. It does not allow me to delete, because find my iPhone option was ON and it keeps prompting me to enter password for old id. There is no option for me to change my ID to the new ID. Please help. I am stuck at this.

I have always been under the impression that changing the username that you use for your Apple ID (in this case the email address which is supposed to be your username) that it had no effect on previous purchases. I assumed that you should be able to download the apps again for free using the changed username/AppleID.
You could try deleting one app and then try to download it again using the new ID and see what happens. Honestly, after reading about this for 4 years now, I am still unclear what happens when you change the email address that you use for your Apple ID. Obviously its not quite as seamless as I thought it would be.

On my apple id, it wont let me edit my Primary email.. And i want to change it.. It only lets me change my name and details, also.. Its let me add another email on to it, but i wish to change the Primary email.. Any help please????

Why won't Apple let you use a @me for Apple ID Primary email?

Hello everyone!
I already know that it is impossible at this point to change your primary Apple ID to a @me address. I have called Apple Support and they have already told me that it is not possible at this point.
Does anyone know why they won't let you use it?
Some people have told me that it is apart of your Apple ID, which i know it is. It is an alternate email address for it.
My problem is though is that all my purchases and Apple information goes to my old email address that got hacked.(My new one is the @me associated with my Apple ID)

If, as you said in your first post, there isn't an Apple Store you can get to, call Apple support and talk to them. As Tim suggested, it may be due to your having a repair order open already. If you call Apple, they should be able to get you set up.

I recently changed my Apple ID primary email address and now I can't sign into Game Center. It recognizes my new Apple ID but it keep trying to force me to create a new Game Center nickname when I want to keep my old one. How do I fix this?

To migrate your data to a new iCloud account go to Settings>iCloud and turn off all synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.), when prompted choose to keep the data on your phone. After everything is set to off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, create the new iCloud account on your phone and turn on syncing for contacts, calendars, etc again. If prompted, choose Merge. This will upload your data to the new iCloud account.

Change Apple ID or Primary Email?

I'm having to switch to an Android device due to work. I was wondering is it possible to change my Apple ID/Primary Email over to my gmail address? I logged in online but didn't have an option to edit my primary email or Apple ID. My Apple ID is an iCloud email because I've had it for so long. Is this even possible? If it's not what is going to happen to all of my stuff that I've downloaded on my computer using that Apple ID if I have to created another on it? Thanks for your help in advance!!

It sounds like you would like to change your primary Apple ID email address. This article will help you do that. The key is the Edit button to the right of your Primay email address:

Make sure that the email address you want to use for your Apple ID meets these conditions:
The email address is one that you use regularly, because it will be the primary email address for your Apple ID.
The email address is not associated with any other Apple ID.
The email address is not an iCloud email address, which is already an Apple ID. iCloud email addresses end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.
To change your Apple ID, follow these steps:
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click "Manage your Apple ID", and sign in.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID. If you are unable to receive messages at your trusted device, follow the guidelines for what to do if you can't sign in with two-step verification.
In the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address section," click Edit.
Enter the email address you want to use, then click Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now in the email.
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your renamed Apple ID.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID.

Issue when changing primary email address of Apple ID

I consider this mail as bug report of how Apple handles multiple email addresses on Apple ID.
Pre setup:
Primary email: "email address"
Additional address: "email address 2"
Iphone installed with "email address" and
Steps to do on appleid web page:
1 - Change password (was forced)
2 - Remove "email address 2" from additional mail addresses list
3 - Change apple ID primary "email address" to -> "email address 2"
4 - Add "email address" to additional addresses list
Result:
Primary email: "email address 2"
Addidional address: "email address"
When you try use iPhone, it asks login to iCloud (correct behavior, password has been changed). But iPhone does not ask for login, it asks password for "email address".
If you try remove "email address" iCloud account, iPhone asks password for "email address" to remove "Find my phone". Device cannot be removed from iCloud web page so iPhone is "locked" to "email address", and this cannot be changed.
Alternative Apple ID "[email protected]", also listed on additional email addresses list. You CAN'T change alternate Apple ID, but you CAN remove "[email protected]" from additional mail list. This must be bug!
Another bug: You CAN'T select primary email address from 'additional mail addresses' list, you MUST remove address from list first, then you can change primary address to that removed address. You should able to use own verified address as primary apple id address.
Also removed addresses must be re-verified every time after removing.

I had a similar problem, which prevented me changing my personal data on iCloud/apple etc. I found the answer on the apple web-site, "appleid.apple.com".
This site lets you change your primary country, and so lets you use the app store.

After changing my primary email for Apple ID, iCloud has issues

I recently changed my apple ID primary email address as the old email address is not obsolete which meant I had to turn off iCloud on all devices and log back in so that the username/email was correct for password verification. Now that I have done this, iCal has 7 calendars, reminders has about 4-5 reminders lists and contacts has about 500+ blank contacts.
When I go to delete these extra calendars, reminders and contacts. They delete but within a few seconds they reappear. I've rebooted, I've tried deleting them through icloud.com and also directly from each device. I have 3 devices using icloud. I have turned off 2 of them at a time and tried deleting from the remaining device.
Has anyone got a solution please?!!?? Starting to get frustrating.

The contacts part of my post above has been resolved. I don't think it was related. I am still unfortunately stuck with additional reminders lists and calendars that do not stay deleted.

Want to use I cloud but can't open primary email address for verification process

Hi there, it's my first time to join the Apple community eventhough I have used Ipad for about two years I guess, n have loved it since then.
Well, I have problem, I want to use I cloud, but I can't as I have to give verification first by following the instruction from Apple which has been sent to my primary email address. The problem is, I have been unable to open my primary email address because I seldom use it. I use my rescue email address for all my email communication, instead. My question is: Is there any email address of the support staff because I want the staff to send the instruction for my verification through my rescue email address?
I have looked up the support page, though, and submitted question which I thought it was the best solution: I want to change my primary email address ( to the rescuer email address) but I was refered to the page " expresslane" which should have been the most convenient way, because all I had to do was just call n talk to the support staff. However, since I don't live in the US, but in a foreign country, talking on the phone is not convenient for me.
I would really appreciate it if any one can help me with this because I can't wait to use I Cloud. Thank you.

Suzy this usually means your apple id primary email address was not verified when you setup your apple id. What you will want to do is go to appleid.apple.com and try and log in under manage your apple id, if it tells you its sent a verification email you can change that email to something else by clicking edit (this cant be your rescue email though) once done a new email should be sent that you can verify and then use icloud. Hope this helps
