Migrate Crystal Reports version 9 to Crystal Reports version 12

I have gone through some of the threads in this forum related to migration of Crystal reports from a previous version to CR 12.
Though it has helped me to a certain extent, the problem still isnt solved.
First, I have not worked with Crystal Reports earlier; this is my first attempt.
Second, I have an application which uses CR version 9 to convert to pdf.
The application is written in VS 2003. The application is hosted under Windows Server 2008 R2; Crystal Reports 12 runtime installed on the Server.
I have downloaded the VSIM for VS 2003. The reference dlls seem to have been upgraded to CR 12. However, when I run the application in the Server, I get the famous
"Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required.  Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information."
error.
Oh, Just for the Info - this application works perfectly fine in my development environment under the Windows XP OS.
Would somebody out there please help me in resolving this issue?
I have spent a lot of time on this issue, doing research on my own and failing miserably.

Download [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] and compare what dlls are loading on the server as opposed to your dev computer. Then adjust as needed.

  • When will the next version of Crystal Reports be released ?

I had asked this question last year and was told by the SAP agent there would be a new version of Crystal Reports released in 2015. Is this still true ? Are I better to wait or should I be looking to migrate to 2013 (currently on 2011) ?
    Thanks

    Hi Craig,
CR 2013 is just a rebranded CR 2011 that was released alongside BI 4.1.
I can't say for sure if 2015 is the year when a 'new' CR version would be released.

  • Version of Crystal Report file?

    Hi All,
How can I find out which version of crystal reports was used to create a crystal report (.rpt) file?
    Thanks.

  • How is the best way to install the latest version of Crystal Reports 2008

I have been downloading for hours all the service packs, hot fixes, fix packs  and chasing my tail for way too long on this.
I keep getting errors about a file being out of sequence.... I assume there is a very loooooong list of fixpacks that need to be applied!!!    This is such a nightmare.
Is there a simple way to just install the latest version of 2008 Crystal Reports?
If I have to follow a long sequence of updates, is it written down anywhere?
The reason for this in the firstplace is because I moved to Visual Studio 2010  with .Net 4.0 framework and now none of my crystal reports work.
I am using the full version of Crystal Reports 2008 installation, not the one built into Visual Studio
    HELP!!!!!!

When I try installing SP2 it starts the update and just locks up... no errors... just sits there.  I let it sit for about an hour.
Is it compatible with Windows 7 ?
When I tried installing a fixpack, I kept getting errors that a file was out of sequence.   I will try uninstalling all of Crystal and just reinstall in this order:
    1. Crystal Reports 2008 from CD
    2. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP2
    3. Install FixPack 2.6
This is what I tried the first time and got all the errors, but I will try it again...   is this correct?
(I don't need to install SP0 or SP1 or any other Fixpacks.... Correct?)

  • Total No of pages different in report printed using Crystal Report XI R2 vs SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8)

Currently in our application, we are using Crystal Report XI R2 for generating the reports. We are in the process of upgrading the Crystal Report to SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8). I updated that on my machine and all the reports work fine. I didn't have to modify any of the reports.
However when comparing the reports, we found that there are few reports on which the total no. of pages differ from the report displayed using Crystal Report XI R2 vs SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio (File Version 13.8). Comparing the reports, it looks all the data that were fit on one page earlier with version XI R2 doesn't fit on the same page with version 13.8, thereby increasing the page counts.
The fonts, page margins everything set on report itself. Nothing being set in the code.
Both the application is using the same report that is pulling the data from the same database. Our application is a web application.
Any suggestion, why this is happening.
    Thanks.
    Sanjay

I am not sure what is being compared here?
    CRXI R2 designer to CRVS?
CR XI R2 in some version of .NET to CRVS?
CR XI R2 using RDC SDK to CRVS?
Also, is this happening on your development computer or after you deploy?
If you compare the the "Page setup" options dialog between reports that work and those that do not work, do you see any difference?
Is this a web or a win app?
Are you seeing the same issue when viewing and exporting - say export to PDF?
What is the printer driver used and it's version?

  • Trial version of crystal report

    Hi,
Do anyone know where to download trial version of crystal report and components to connect R3? Thx.

    Hi,
You can integrate CR 2008 SP1 with R3.
Download CR 2008 trial version from here  - http://www.businessobjects.com/campaigns/forms/downloads/crystal/2008/default.asp
Also you need to install SP1 in order to integrate it with SP1.
Also I don't know that trail version of CR 2008 Sp1 can be integrated with R3 or not.
Note:- Currently CR 2008 SP1 is not available.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,

  • Which version of crystal reports can link to Windev 14 and SQL server 2008 applications

I am developing an application with windev 14 and sql server 2008, i would like to know which version of crystal report can i use?

    Hi GS,
    Move to .NET SDK forum.
I don't know how CR for Visual Studio will integrate into WinDev but to get the installer for VS 2010/2012/2013 go to this page:
SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
It's the runtime for CR 2011 or 2013 now.
As for SQL 2008 you need to install the Client tools and when creating reports use the SQLNCLI10.dll as the client DB driver for ODBC or OLE DB.

  • What version of crystal report distribution should I install? CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0_5 or CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0_5

    Hi,
On Production server, we use window 2008, 32 bit machine, the application is visual studio 2010, sql 2012, what version of crystal report should I install for this production server?
      I should install CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0_5 or CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0_5?
On test server, we use window 2008 R2, 64 bit machine, the application is visual studio 2010, sql 2012, I install both version in order to make the crystal report working correctly on the application.  if I miss one of them, there are some crystal report function doesn't work..
For production server, we want to install only one, so, could you give me suggestion which version is correct version to make the crystal report work totally correctly on the VS application?
    thanks
    Kelvin

    Hi Kelvin
First, you should really be using SP 10.
next, if your app is compiled as 32 bit, deploy 32 bit runtime.
If it is compiled as 64 bit, deploy 64 bit runtime.
If it is compiled as Any CPU and deployed to a 64 bit OS, install 64 bit runtime.

  • Where can I find which versions of Crystal Reports are compatible with the Runtimes?

The Crystal Runtimes run reports authored in Crystal Reports.  Where is it documented which version of Crystal Reports can be used to author reports for which version of the Runtimes?
If I use the latest Runtimes can I consume reports authored in any version of Crystal Reports, e.g. Crystal Reports version 10?  Or Crystal Reports 2013?

Latest runtimes is rather vague(?), but yes the runtime for CR 2008 and "SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET" will have no issues running reports create in previous versions of CR - all that way back to CR 9.x. After that, it gets more difficult the further back you go.
As for reports create in CR 2011 and / or CR 2013 no issue in "SAP Crystal Reports, Developer Version for Visual Studio .NET", guaranteed. Using those reports in CR 2008 should also not be an issue - e.g. I can't think of any features introduced in CR 2011 / 2013 that would not work in CR 2008.

  • Not a 4.x or earlier version of Crystal reports error

    To all:
I'm using Crystal 8.5 (CR) to report on data stored in a SQL 2005 database through a Prolog Manager 2007R2 (PM) interface.  CR is not connected to SQL in a native fashion.  It gets to the data via .ttx files through PM that define the data types and locations.
I have a report that is getting the "Not a 4.x or earlier version of Crytal reports" for me and "Out of memory" error for others on the network.  I made an exact copy of the database and restored it on my local machine so I could troubleshoot the errors.  I thought the errors could have been server / network related but since restoring it on my local machine, which also has the PM software installed on it, I am able to recreate the "not a 4.x" error.  The error only seems to trigger when I report on larger number of records.  It's fine on lesser record counts.
I do have 2 linked subreports (SR) in it and I am using "underlay following setions" to get the data from one SR in D1 section to show up in D2 which is showing data from the main data group.  Does anyone out there have any experience in this error?  I can't purchase a singe support case because CR 8.5 isn't supported any longer.

    Hi Gary,
I don't believe that error is generated by CR, CR is just passing it through from Prolog. You may want to post this issue to the Prolog forums. Or have a really close look at the ttx format and compare it to our sample ttx file. I don't recall where it is now though.
    Thank you

  • How is it possible to obtain a trial version of Crystal Reports?

In years past, the free 30-day trial version of Crystal Reports provided a speedy onramp to purchase of the complete product. Now I cannot find that download on the SAP site. Has the trial version been discontinued? If so, how are people to learn about Crystal Reports?

    Hi Allen,
You can download the Crystal reports trail from the following link
    https://global.sap.com/campaign/ne/free_trial/crystal_reports_2013/index.epx?kNtBzmUK9zU
Just signup with your details and you will then be able to download Crystal reports. Let me know if you need any help.

  • Which version of Crystal Report XI do I have?

    Post Author: MarinoDp
    CA Forum: .NET
Hello everybody.I know this may sounds odd, but I'm currently facing some problems (about PDF output) that should have been resolved with Crystal Reports R2 and I'm not sure which version I have. The fact is that all the 'old' developers left the company and currently no one exactly knows which version of Crystal Report we use.The embedded .msi we install is named "CrystalReports11_NET_EmbeddedInstall.msi" and all the dll versions are numbered "11.0.0.1424".So, is this R1 and I have to upgrade to R2 or my problems are due to something else? Thank you in advance, Marino Della Puppa

    11.0.xxx is R1, not R2.

  • Latest Version of Crystal Report

    Hi all,
Kindly Let me know the Latest version of Crystal Report and the Release Versions after Crystal Report 10 in hierarchicaly.
Thanks for your support in advance.
    Regards
    Sivaramakrishnan

    Hi Siva,
The latest version of Crystal reports is version 12.which is released in 2008.
You can find more info below regarding the version and history of Crystal reports.
The product was originally created by Crystal Services Inc. as Quik Reports[2] when they couldn't find a suitable commercial report writer for their accounting software. After producing versions 1.0 through 3.0, the company was acquired in 1994 by Seagate Technology.[3] Crystal Services renamed itself to Seagate Software, and later Crystal Decisions,[4] and produced versions 4.0 through 9.0. Crystal Decisions was acquired in December 2003 by Business Objects, which has so far produced versions 10, 11 (XI) and the current version 12 (2008). Business Objects was acquired by SAP on October 8, 2007.

  • What version of Crystal Reports do I need for ClickOnce Deployment VS2005?

    Hello,
I have a Windows application that is currently being maintained in VS2005. Eventully we plan to upgrade to VS2008 but for now this is what we are using.
I used the version of Crystal Reports that shipped with VS2005 to build some reports. Now I need to deploy them and I prefer to use ClickOnce. Some time ago, I checked into this process and only one specific version of Crystal could accomplish what I needed: CR XI R2.
Now that Crystal 2008 has been released, I am curious if I can use it as a direct replacement for this package, or if it only supports ClickOnce on VS2008, or if there are any other deployment or version mismatch issues I need to be aware of. If CR XI R2 is still the only option I have for ClickOnce with VS2005, please let me know so I can buy that package instead.
    Thanks

You can use click once with .NET 2005 and .NET 2008. Click once MSI is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005986302008E/cr120_clickonce.zip
CR XI r2 and CR 2008 are side by side compatible, so if you have apps using the two runtimes on the same computer, it should not be an issue.
