Migrate CS6 settings to CC

I would like to copy settings from InDesign CS6, to InDesign CC on another computer, both mac.
Except for me working with both versions, there is no link at all: they are on different computers, in different companies (and thus bought with different accounts).
Now that InDesign CC 2014 finally supports a feature to "Migrate previous Local Settings...", is there a way to do it with non local settings?
Perhaps by copying some CS6 folders to trick InDesign CC into thinking these settings are from the local machine...?

I doubt it. Migrate Local Settings affects not just folders of presets but application settings as well.
If it were an earlier version of CC, you could sync a few settings if the computers were using the same Adobe ID.

Have upgraded several times before (CS5 -> CS6 for example) where settings such as workspace, keyboard shortcuts, actions etc. were easily migrated.
Now, with Creative Cloud, I would assume an even more seamless upgrade. I was a bit disappointed by the whole concept of installing a *new* app ("Photoshop CC 2014", alongside "Photoshop CC"). But even more disappointed when I saw none of my app settings were migrated.
Is this a "feature" or me doing something wrong?
(I would hope the latter, but afraid this is a feature after I talked to a guy on support chat)

There was a lot of discussion on this one. Adobe wrote sync of settings only work between dot releases, see: Photoshop Help | Sync settings using Adobe Creative Cloud
Considerations: Migration and Sync Settings
Sync Settings synchronizes settings between installations of the same major version of Photoshop. For example, settings are synchronized between a Photoshop CC version 15.0 installation and a Photoshop CC version 15.1 installation.
Sync Settings does not synchronize settings across installations of different Photoshop major versions. For example, Photoshop CC version 14.1 settings are not synchronized with an installation of the 2014 release of Photoshop CC (15.0).
Migrate settings from one major version to another
You can migrate presets/settings from one major version of Photoshop to another in one of the following two ways:
When you first launch the newer version of Photoshop, you are prompted to migrate the presets/settings. Choose Yes.
At any point in time, select Edit > Presets > Migrate Presets to migrate settings.
For more information, see Preset migration.
Note:
The main preference file is not migrated as part of presets migration.

That tells me nothing, not the precise wording of the error message, nor exactly what you downloaded.
Now that we got the B.S. out of the way, let me address your last post:
The message you're paraphrasing now is simply telling you that you need to input the serial number of the previous version that you used to upgrade to Photoshop CS6. That's all.
It doesn't matter one iota that you have an upgrade of an upgrade of an upgrade…
ALL Adobe upgrades are FULL INSTALLERS. They do not touch your previous installation and don't need it in the least. When they install the new version, your previous installation remains untouched. The only reason it looks for the previous version is to see if they can save you the trouble of inputting the old serial number as swell as the new one. When they don't find a prior version installed, the installer simply prompts you for the old serial number as well as for the new one. That is what the message is telling you now.
I really don't care about the specs or description of your new machine. They are utterly irrelevant.
Try the installation again, and don't take your eyes off the screen for a split second until you are prompted for the old serial number.
If you run into a roadblock, post a screen capture of each step in the installation.

I am glad that what you now have described has absolutely nothing to do with "Migrating" anything, which is what caused the confusion and my alarm. Try not to use incorrect tdrminology when requesting help. That doesn't help you communicate.

Migrating SVN Settings to SQL Developer 3.1EA3

I had SVN set up in SQL Developer 2 and it was working just fine. When I installed SQL Developer 3, I migrated the settings from SQL Developer 2, but the SVN settings did not move over with it. In addition, when I attempt to set up SVN in SQLDev3, it sees it as a new repository and attempts to overwrite my existing local SVN repository.
What is the recommended way to migrate an SVN repository from 2 to 3?

Here's the solution (in case any one else has had the same problem).
You need to export your SVN settings from the previous version of SQL Developer and import it to the current version. In my case, it was version 2.1 to 3.
Right click on Subversion in the Versioning Navigator, and Export connection.
Then, in the new version of SQL Developer, right click on Subversion and Import connection.
Done.

How do I migrate firefox settings from a 4.0 FF install on my old main drive, now connected as an external drive, to my new main hard drive's 4.0 FF installation?

My old computer's motherboard cooked, but the hard drive was undamaged. I removed it, and converted it to an external hard drive using cables, and now want to migrate the bookmarks, passwords, and settings to my new computer's main hard drive installation of Firefox.

Migrating security settings from embedded oc4j to preconfigured oc4j

I was able to configure security in my 11g TP3 ADF application, and run it successfully against embedded oc4j.
Now, when I want to migrate this to preconfigured oc4j, I am getting ERROR:null.
Please see the steps I follow:

Try enabling java logging to see what the exact error is. That might give you an idea of what the error could be..
When I tried, I got the below error though I added jps-common.jar, which contains CredStoreResources, into the classpath

PP CS6 Settings ?

Hello,
I just downloaded the CS6 Premium Production Suite. I was wondering about the setting in
Premiere Pro.
The only ones I have changed are the following:
Audio Hardware: MOTU
Audio Mapping: Channels 1 & 2 MOTU
Auto Save: Every 10 minutes / max set at 99
Media: Left as default but are there changes that should be made here?
Memory: I have 16 GB of RAM. It is set to 11 GB for PP and 5GB for other apps.
Should this be changed or is it OK the way it's set?
Optimized Rendering: Performance.
Any suggestions as to any other settings that I should do to make PP run smoother would
be much appreciated.

How migrate all settings from CC to CC2014

In InDesign sync works, in Illustrator and Photoshop sync don't works.

"CC 2014 is a new version of Photoshop, and when you first launch it, you are offered the opportunity to migrate your old settings if you wish."
That pretty much says it's automated. Were talking about Adobe settings & presets (this includes personal presets made with your software).
And syncing settings is not the same thing as migrating them from one version to another.
Where was this explained to your customers? (Without them having to search for it)

Nothing happened when I first opened PS or Illustrator. I was not given the option to sync. Are you trying to tell me that my presets & settings (including Workspaces) from
the previous version will not work with this new version? Nonsense. So why didn't they sync?

Migrating Homesite Settings like Color Scheme

I've just setup a new development machine and wish to migrate
my homesite settings over. I've spent a lot of time on editing
color coding, editor settings, RDS servers etc. Is there an easy
way to do this?
I tried overwriting my homesite installation on the new
machine with my old folder but that didn't work.

Found it!
You can back up your color coding schemes or save them to
transfer the settings to another computer. All color coding
customizations are stored in the registry. Found here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Allaire\HomeSite45\CustomParserSettings
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\HomeSite5\CustomParserSettings
... or in similar keys for other versions of the software...
Just export this key.
Here is how you do that:
1. Start | Run | type in "regedit"
2. Browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\HomeSite5\CustomParserSettings
3. Select the CustomParserSettings folder
4. Then select from the top menu bar Registry | Export
Registry Key
5. Name it and save it to a place you will remember
(DeskTop) as a .reg file.
6. If you are copying these settings to a different
computer, then copy that file over to that computer.
7. Install HomeSite if it was not already installed.
8. After installation, double click on the reg file, it will
automatically update your registry and restore your color coloring
customizations.
Note: this is not saving custom parsers you might have added,
just the color selections that you might have chosen to use for
particular coloring schemes.

Premiere Pro CS6 settings problem

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me. Basically, I've been trying out a number of settings and even making custom ones while using Premier Pro CS6 but cannot get them right. I record with a Nikon D5100 in the 1920x1080, 25fps. I want to post the videos to youtube but whenever I upload I end up seeing black borders around the videos. Could anyone help me with the setting as I am slowly losing hope! Thank you

You can find your team's unique serial number on the back of the DVD envelope that is included all teams Kit Of Parts. The serial Number should start with an 'M'. You can Activate LabVIEW after installation using the NI Licence Manager. (Start>Programs>National Instruments>NI Licence Manager)

Migrate desktop settings

Greetings. Currently have OS X v.10.6.7 on iMac8,1 using Intel Core 2 Duo. Am trying to be more aware of security as we are now living a lot of our lives online. Decided to create separate user account (have just been logging in through original Admin acct up to now) with standard setting, but stronger password settings. Everything great but now logging into new user acct I find that I've lost access to my original desktop along with iTunes music files, etc, etc, etc. Granted if I log into the Admin acct everything is still there, but I was trying move away from having that kind of access open whenever my wife or I logged in. Been searching for a way to migrate the desktop over from Admin to new user. Suggestions?

The whole point of having the two accounts is that you must log into an admin account to perform certain functions and to prevent others from gaining access to the computer with admin status.
If you want items on the admin's Desktop to be on the standard user's Desktop then copy them from one to the other and modify their permissions so you can access the items. But, if you are referring to your admin account's Home folder, that is accessible only when logged into the admin account.
I might note that if only you and your wife use the computer and no others have the account password and you use a hardware router for your internet access, then there really is no need for the two accounts.

When you use the Migration Assistant, what is included in "users," "settings" and "other files"?

I think it's offered as an option at some point during the installation. But you can always start the Migration Assistant at any later point (it's located in Applications/Utilities) - that's the same application.
That's what I did, actually. I did a clean install first and only after everything was up and running did I hook up my old G4 and transferred things over with the help of the Migration Assitant.

Ensuring iPhone will sync with new Macbook Pro without migrating all settings

Hi,
I recently bought a new macbook pro. I don't want to use the migrate assistant to copy all settings and user profiles, because my old macbook has some problems and I want to ensure they aren't transferred over.
However, I need to be sure that my iPhone 4 will sync properly with my new macbook pro and all my purchased apps will be carried over.
Can someone tell me what specifically I need to migrate to ensure this works properly?
