Hi
How i can migrete 10g(32bit) to 10g(64bit itanium) ?
I have cold backup and hot backup.
How i can do this?
Thanks for advance

Hello,
thanks for advices. After some reading:

according 277650.1, it seems i can try to do all these steps at once by doing export/import as mentioned above. Time for testing :)
One more question - are there some special steps easy to miss but essential for the process?

Download the latest Application Server 10.1.3.2 release. Choose the <Advanced Install> to install OHS only (Apache 1.3 or Apache 2).

  • Oracle forms 10g 32bit with Oracle 10g database on windows itanium for x64

    Hi.....
Currently we are planning to have this configuration
    1. Oracle10g RAC on HP rx6600 with windows itanium for x64 architecture
    2. Oracle Application Server (32-bit) on windows 2003 (forms & reports services)
    3. Application migrated from 6i to 10g
I have to things to ask about?
1.Will it be ok to connect from an application compiled with _(32-bit)_ 10g forms to a x64_ platform without problems ?
    2. Can we connect forms and reports of developer 6i +(32-bit)+ to 10g RAC on x64_ platform if the character set is not UTF8 ?

1.Will it be ok to connect from an application compiled with (32-bit) 10g forms to a x64 platform without problems ?I did this also. A 32bit Oracle Form(10gR2) on Linux and a 64 bit (10gR2) database. And this works without a problem. Since you didn't mentioned your versions I would suggest you look for your combination if it is certified combination.
    2. Can we connect forms and reports of developer 6i (32-bit) to 10g RAC on x64 platform if the character set is not UTF8 ?I don't know if the combination is certified. But regarding your character set, you have a character set setting (NLS_LANG, DEVELOPER_LANG, etc.. ) for your developer 6i, your database has it's own character set. Depending on those setting a conversion of the character set will take place between your developer 6i and the database, when you get and put data to the database. But like I said I don't know if developer 6i and 10g is still a supported combination.

  • Information on 10G 10.2.0.1  64bit on Windows

    Thanks for taking my questions!
Our campus is moving to peoplesoft and I was just asked to have a 64bit version of Oracle 10g up and running by June 6th. This database is just a demo db and this maybe just another install - I'm not sure. The problem is I don't have a whole lot of experience and would greatly appreciate some pointing in the right direction or some reassuring.
    Background
First we currently have several 32bit windows boxes running oracle 10.2.0.3. but would like to utilize the 64bit so we no longer have the 2g application limit. We don't run rac or clustering - just plain oracle on windows. The client runs on a separate box. We are a small University with about 10,000.
    Thanks again!

    Questions
    What's the difference between 10g x64 and 10g 64bit itanium?
What version of windows do you feel would be most stable for 64bit?
The little bit I read makes me think we may have the same memory issues with 64bit as 32bit. Might have to do with what OS we install - do you know of any issues?
Do you see any problems with installing 10g 64bit on a VM?
Do I need to apply the daylight saving patches or will these be included?
Would it be wise to just stick with the 32 bit windows box and try to use the 3g boot.ini switch to allow more memory?
Anything else I should be worried about?

  • Installation of Oracle 10g und 9i Database on one Windows 2003 Srv System

    Hello,
I would like to install Oracle 9i and 10g database on the same server.
OS is Windows 2003 Server default.
I already read that i must do some adjustments (regarding ORACLE_HOME / SIDs ..)
anyone here who knows something about this ?
    Thank you
    Philip

    Yep.
Install 9i and when it asks for a port to install the listener pick something other than 1521. (1522 should work).
Then the Oracle 10g installation should go without a hitch.

  • Converting a Database from Windows 2003 Server to HP-UX Itanium

    Hi
I have to convert a database Oracle11g (11.1.0.6.0) from Windows 2003 Server to HP-UX Itanium. Both installation are in the same version. I know there are methods to convert it with RMAN ( Restore/Recover converting the database files ) or with transportable tablespaces. Can you give advices or comment me your experiencies on it ?.
    Thanks

The RMAN's convert command is going to be needed if the endian format of both the o/s is not same. I didn't check this so please check that whether the source and target are on the same endian or not. If not, you must use the RMAN. If yes, then using transport tablespace would do the job.

  • Installing AS 10g (10.1.2) on Windows 2003 Server

I have problem installing AS 10g (10.1.2.0.0) on Windows 2003 Server. Installation seems to be ok, but when I tried (on server) to go into Enterprise Manager (EM), I wasn't asked for password, only blank page was shown. So I tried enter EM on workstation (XP, SP2) - succesfully. All seemed OK, until I tried deploy some application from ear file. I waited a long time, but nothing happened. On server I see, that nothing at all is being uploaded into applications directory. I tried all that again on AS installed on XP workstation - without any problems, so problem will probably be on 2003 server. Do you have any idea where? Thanks.

I solved one thing - running Enterprise Manager on server is now possible after I changed security level in Internet Explorer. Now I can deploy applications from server, whether the .ear file is on server or shared from workstation. I still have problems with deploy from workstation (though I was several times succesfull). After browsing to .ear file and clicking on Continue button on first (out of 3) page, the IE waits very long time (many minutes) to next page. Once on next page, I am able to finish it all OK quite quickly.

  • From Oracle 9i 32bit to Oracle 10g 64bit

    Hello
I maintenance some applications that its used ODP.net 10.1.0.400 to accessing the Oracle database 9i 32bit.
But now the Oracle database 9i 32bit will be upgraded to 10g 64bit.
My question is whether I have to update the source code of those applications ?
    thanks & best regards.
    highven

ODP.NET follows the client version as far as certification goes, and that information can be found in the following note on My Oracle Support:
Note 207303.1 Client/Server/Interoperability Support Between Different Oracle Versions
Purely on principle you may want to upgrade simply because 10.1 has been desupported for quite some time now, but it should work as-is at least.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Slow Problems with Oracle Forms 10g and Oracle Database 11g

Hi, I wonder if there is a compatibility problem between Version 10.1.2.0.2 32 Oracle Forms and Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production. This is because my application runs correctly on a version of Oracle Database 10g, and when we migrated the database to an Oracle Database 11g, slowness problems came out.
    Thanks.

We have the same issue happening with our custom forms and with some of the standard forms in EBSO. So far we have found that the form invoking a view causes ridiculous slowness in opening the form (40 mins). Using a table access has shortened the open time significantly. At this time Oracle DBAs at OOD have no clear idea why it is happening.
we are on 11.1 database with 11.5 EBSO
